 Blankenberg, Bruce - Bruce E. Blankenberg, 57, of Melbourne Beach, Florida, died April 2, 2000 after a brief illness. He was born March 7, 1943 in Newark. He is survived by his wife Gayle of Melbourne Beach; daughter, Debra Lyn Stevens of Jacksonville, FL; sons, Randall Blankenberg of Atlanta, GA, and Bruce Blankenberg of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, in Jacksonville; sisters, Elaine (George) Bush of Penfield, Shirley (Roger) Westfall of Phelps, Donna (Ronald) Teeter of Newark; step-daughters, Tia Hughes of Albany, GA, Jaime Thompson of Jacksonville and Robin Thompson of Jacksonville; step-grandson, Logan Hughes, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Morrisey, John A. - John A. Morrisey, 66, of Palmyra, died April 3, 2000 in Clifton Springs Hospital. John resided on Stafford Road in Palmyra, where he owned and operated Morrisey Farms. He was a member of St. Anne's Church, a veteran of the Korean War, enjoyed blacksmithing; he was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. Interment in St. Anne's Cemetery in Palmyra. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Maxwell Morrisey; daughters Linda (Donald) Valley, Barbara (Paul) Hamilton, Mary Ann Smith and Carolyn (Craig) Fusco; son, John A. (Jennifer Drury) Morrisey Jr.; mother-in-law, R. Evelyn Maxwell; brothers, James (Mary Monette) Morrisey and Thomas J. (Mary) Morrisey; nieces and nephews; several grandchildren. He was predeceased by son-in-law, Russell Smith and granddaughter, Jennifer Smith.

Willis, David C. - David C. Willis, 67, of Newark, died April 6, 2000, at his home. Mr. Willis was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Rochester, the son of Edward F. and Laura Barnhart Willis. For several years, he had been a caretaker at the Newark Cemetery with the New York State Green Thumb Program. The last couple of years, he was seen early in the morning watering the hanging plants on the lamp posts in downtown Newark. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. He is survived by five sisters and a brother: Charlotte Willis, Anna Willis, Pauline Willis, Paul Willis, Marion Dixon, all of Rochester and Eva Corbitt of Tampa, FL; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, John Willis in 1999.

Marafioti, Rocco Anthony - Rocco Anthony Marafioti, 57, of Palmyra, died March 30, 2000. He is survived by his mother, Dominica Marafioti; brother Joseph Marafioti. He was predeceased by his father, Dominico Marafioti.

Bertou, Elmer J. - Elmer J. Bertou, 81, of Williamson, died April 6, 2000. Elmer was a retired fruit grower. Interment in Sunnyside Cemetery, Williamson. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Gloria Bertou of Williamson; grandchildren, Rick (Cindy) Bertou of Manheim, PA, and Ronda (Scott) Tozier of Williamson; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy (Rolland) Skellenger of Orlando, FL; nieces and nephews.

Caster, Shaylynn Aubry - Shaylynn Aubry Caster, born April 8, 2000 and died on April 8, 2000. Interment, North Farmington Friends Cemetery. She is survived by her parents, Tracey Van Hout and Anthony Caster; maternal grandparents, Gerald and Charlotte Van Hout; paternal grandparents, Barbra Merkle and Alan (Mary) Caster; many aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles and great-grandparents.

Rienstra, Peter - Peter Rienstra, 86, of Palmyra, died March 30, 2000. He was a former partner in the Red & White grocery store in Newark. More recently, he and his wife owned and operated Rienstra's Bakery in Palmyra for 20 years. Interment in the East Palmyra Cemetery. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Donald) Dayton of Phelps and Norene (Gerald) Zegers of Palmyra; five grandchildren; sister, Jessie Gelderloos of Jenison, Michigan; several nieces and nephews; many friends. He was predeceased in 1995 by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mae.

Humeniuk, Genevieve S. - Genevieve S. Humeniuk, 66, of Newark, died April 10, 2000, at ViaHealth of Wayne. Genevieve was born March 29, 1934, in Utica, the daughter of Anthony and Sophia Burdzel. She was a member of St. Michael's Church. She is survived by two sons, John and Michael; and two daughters, Wanda and Martina Humeniuk, all of Newark. She was predeceased in 1968 by her husband, Martin. Interment is in the Newark Cemetery.

O'Meal, David W. - David W. O'Meal, 57, of Palmyra, died April 8, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer. Interment, South Farmington Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Donna; brother Robert O'Meal; many cousins and friends.

Clark, Carol - Carol J. Clark, 40, of Marion, died April 10, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Mark; daughters, Christina and Stephanie; parents, Lois and Fred Allen; brother, Keith Allen; sister, D. Jane (Arthur) Guara; in-laws, Carolyn and David Clark; sisters- and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Marion Cemetery.

Acquista, Angelo - Angelo Acquista, 77, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Geneva, died April 8, 2000, following a long illness. Angelo was born November 24, 1922, the son of the late Michael and Teresa Ciancaglini Acquista. He was employed for many years with the Seneca Army Depot. He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army as a field artillery instructor at West Point Academy. He is survived by his wife, Anne Campbell Acquista of Jacksonville, FL; four sons, Jonathan (Rebekka) Acquista of Geneva, Christopher (Christine) Acquista of Florida, Stephen (Cindy) Acquista of Virginia, Joseph (Christine) Acquista of Newark; two step-sons, Nicholas and Michael Woolsey of Florida; five grandchildren; one brother, Edmund (Josephine) Acquista of Geneva; one sister, Vincentina (John) Salone of Geneva; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mobbs, Paul F. - Paul F. Mobbs, 60, of Newark, died April 13, 2000 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Paul is survived by his beloved wife Sally; children Carl, Diana (George), Gene (Brenda), Tonya (Greg), Steve (Sharron), Paula (Lewis); brother Ted (Barbara); grandchildren Sarah, Gene, Jeff, Max, Natalie, Marcus, Brittany, Quintin, and great-grandson Jacob.

Rector, Martha Jean - Martha Jean Rector of Clifton Springs passed away on April 14, 2000 at her home after a long illness. Jean was born in Easton, PA, the daughter of Ceylon and Harriet Popple, and she lived in the Clifton Springs area for over 50 years. She operated her own upholstery and furniture repair business for many years. Interment in River View Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, John E. Rector Sr.; two daughters, Vickie Young of Newark, and Karen Young of Kona, Hawaii; a son, Michael Rector of Phelps; three step-children, Julie (Bill) Eldridge of Saugerties; John Jr. (Laurie) Rector of Marion; and Valerie (Bill) Corteville of Marion; three sisters, Joan Newburg of Kirkland, WA; Margaret (Bill) Vining of Hermon; Mary (Gordon) Mandigo of Hermon; two brothers, Doug (Ann Marie) Popple of Germany and Daniel Popple of Fort Collins, Colorado; eight grandchildren.

Bornheimer, Gerald - Gerald E. Bornheimer, 73, of Stell Road died peacefully at home April 13, 2000. Gerald was born in Lyons on Feb. 3, 1927, a son to Jessie and Mabel Warren Bornheimer. He was a dairy farmer. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Sinack Bornheimer; two sons, Harold (Carole) and Calvin (Donna) of Lyons; two brothers, Robert (Mary) of Lyons, Irving (Helen) of NC; sisters-in-law, Mary A. Bornheimer of Newark and Irene DeMarco of Geneva; brother in-law, James (Betty) Sinack of Newark; grandchildren, Edward, Richard, Betty, and Brian Bornheimer, all of Lyons; great- grandchildren, Dillon and Jacob Bornheimer; nieces and nephews; special niece, Linda O'Brian and special nephew, Bill Bornheimer; special friends, Edna and Carol Sue Christiansen. He was predeceased by brothers Alvin, Harry, Clifford, Leon and Daniel.

Reynolds, Cora - Cora L. Reynolds, 88, of Newark died on April 16, 2000 at her grandson's home in Newark. Mrs. Reynolds was born Sept. 3, 1922, the daughter of the late Walter and Edna Wendover. She had lived in Red Creek for more than 10 years. In that time she was a member of the Red Creek Westbury Methodist Church in Red Creek. She also lived in Rose Garden Apartments for nine years and was retired from the General Electric Co. in Liverpool. Interment will be in Huron Evergreen Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Richard (Joy) Caster of Hannibal; two grandchildren, Alan (Mary) Caster and David Caster and his friend, Jody Oltz; nine great-grandchildren, two great, great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bessie (Joseph) Wilson of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Rosanne Parkhurst. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence C. Reynolds died on March 12, 1990; and one sister, Dorothy Bartle.

DeHond, Bernard - Bernard K. DeHond, 42, of Sodus, died April 14, 2000 at Newark ViaHealth. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Tina of Sodus; son and future daughter in-law, Matthew (Michelle Martlew) both of Rochester; parents, Wilber and Shirley of Sodus; three brothers, Paul (Chris) of Geneva, Tim (Kathy) of East Williamson and Mark (Cherie) of Sodus; sisters, Tracy (Bill) Whitcomb of Alton, Wendy Cooper of Newark and Karen DeHond of Sodus; nieces and nephews; a very dear friend, Ward Bush of Sodus.

DeRidder, Marjorie - Marjorie DeRidder, 82, died February 29, 2000. Interment, Marion Cemetery. She was a retired Garlock employee. She is survived by her husband, Adrian (Eddie) DeRidder; son, Robert (Janet) DeRidder of Marion; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Case, Lloyd Evans - Lloyd Evans Case, 76, of Newark, died suddenly April 18, 2000 at Newark ViaHealth. Lloyd was born Nov. 19, 1923 to Charles and Bessie Case in Phelps. He attended Newark High School. He retired from Tri Brothers Supplies and Pastler and Jaeckle Corp. of Lyons. He was a member of the Second Reformed Church of Marion and a past member of the Newark American Legion, August Mauer Post 286. Norm Waterman has flown the Navy flag in honor of his service to our country during World War II. In recent years he started his own business manufacturing heating and air conditioning ducts. Interment will be in East Newark Cemetery. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorraine Steinruck Case; daughter and son-in-law Beverly and David Bornheimer of Lyons; grandchildren John (Kathy) Bornheimer of Rochester and Emily Bornheimer of Lyons; four great grandchildren; brothers Robert (Eleanor) Case of Palmyra, David (Marci) Case of Oswego and Leon (Beverly) Case of Newark; sisters Nellie Fitch, Rose (Edward) Fitch, Betty DeBlaere, Blanche Beman, all of Newark, and Edith (Francis) Ryan of North Rose; sister in-law Lettie Case of Geneva; nieces and nephews.

Neels, Elmer S. - Elmer S. Neels, 80, of Mill St., Sodus, died April 17, 2000 at the Pines of Peace in Ontario. Mr. Neels was a WWII Army veteran and a Kodak retiree. He is survived by his companion of 25 years, Betty Neels; his four children, Ronald (Mary Jane) of Mentor on the Lake, OH, Donald (Linda) of Oswego, Joan (Bill) Clark of Newark and Jane (Jim) Hopkins of Sodus; 8 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Mildred Claeysen of Marion, Martha (Case) DeFisher of Sodus, Shirley (Jim) Sanders of Wolcott; brother, Melvin (Dorothy) of Macedon; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Amos, Eleanor Wright Otto - Eleanor Wright Otto Amos, 81, died April 1, 2000 in the medical center in Burlington VT. Eleanor graduated from Marion High School in 1936 and attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester. Interment in Port Kent, New York. She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. Carl Amos; son, David of Farmington Hills, MI; daughter, Dr. Deborah Cohen of Seattle; brother, Cornelius Otto of Garden City, SC and sister, Genevieve Spoerer of Crossville, TN.

Santoro, Virginia Rose - Virginia Rose Santoro, 79, of Newark, died April 20, 2000, at her home. Mrs. Santoro was born Sept. 26, 1920 in Lyons, the daughter of Dominic and Louise Rago Evangelist. She was a member of St. Michael Church. Interment Newark Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret (John) Lisena of Fairport; four sons, Anthony of Palmyra, James of Newport News, Virginia, John (Elizabeth) of New York City, and Charles of Rochester; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon in 1990; and five brothers, John, Eugene, Anthony, Albert and Benjamin Evangelist.

Thompson, Louise E. - Louise Eleanor Thompson, 77, of Webster, died April 19, 2000 at Rochester General Hospital. Mrs. Thompson was born the daughter of Carl and Eva Hubbard on March 1, 1923. She is survived by sons, Larry of Williamson, James of Albany, and Timothy of Clifton Springs; daughters, Gladys Smith of Texas and Betty Puff of Newark; 11 grandchildren; close friend, Edward Ester. She was predeceased by her husband, Irving Thompson; and her daughter, Patricia.

Gary, Emma - Emma Gary, 98, of Newark, died April 20, 2000 at the DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Gary was born June 19, 1901 in Holland, the daughter of Benjamin and Regina Bruggman Bankert, and came to this country when she was five years old. She was a communicant of St. Michael Church. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her two daughters, Dorothy Hatfield of Valrico, FL and Shirley (Herbert) Smith of St. Cloud, FL; son, Donald (Kathleen) Gary of Newark; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lee, in 1949; sister, Alice Gary in 1998; and four brothers, Frank, Proster, Alphonse and August Bankert.

Sapp, Daniel Henry - Daniel Henry Sapp, 77, of Newark and Lyons, died April 19, 2000 at Genesee Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Sapp was born Aug. 30, 1922 in Lyons, the son of Newton and Rose Petrus Sapp. He was a member of St. Michael Church. He had worked for several years at Jackson & Perkins and was retired from Seneca Foods. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by three sisters, Carmella Fisher of Newark, Mary Clark of Newark, and Lorraine Sapp of Savannah; four brothers, Henry and Fred, both of Newark, Richard of Lyons and Robert of Marion; nieces and nephews.

Haers, Marjorie M. - Marjorie M. Haers, 85, of Phelps, died April 20, 2000, at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. Mrs. Haers was born May 12, 1914, in Oaks Corners, the daughter of Charles and Caroline Lyon Bement. She had attended Phelps Union and Phelps High Schools. She and her husband, Philemon Haers, were married on April 24, 1937. She was a homemaker and had resided in the Phelps area all her life. She was a member of the Phelps B.P.W. and a life member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She is survived by her sons, Philip (Jane) Haers, Gerald (Joanne) Haers and Michael (Kathy) Haers, all of Phelps; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Bement of Canandaigua, Walt (Virginia) Bement of Newark and Richard (Donna) Bement of Hudson Falls; three sisters, Geraldine Griner of Phelps, Dorothy (Phil) Povero of Geneva, and Marion Bement of Phelps; and six step-grandchildren. She was predeceased in 1993 by her husband of 55 years, Philemon Haers.

Conaway, Oscar Sr. - Oscar W. Conaway, Sr., 79, of Lyons, died April 22, 2000, at the Syracuse Veteran's Hospital, after a brief illness. Oscar was born March 1, 1921 in Sayre, PA a son to Aaron and Tursie Conaway. He was a tank operator in the the U.S. Army in World War II. He was locally employed by Helch Trucking in Lyons and was member of VFW Post #5092. Interment in the South Lyons Cemetery. Surviving are three sons, Oscar Jr. of Lyons, Keith of Newark and Edward of Sodus; daughter, Mary Ellen (Dennis) Herd of Lyons; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Elmore, Eugene - Eugene C. Elmore, 74, of Waterloo and East Miller St., Newark, died April 21, 2000. Eugene was born in Rochester on January 6, 1926, the son of Eugene and Ethel Chamberlin Elmore. He was a truck driver for Neil-Clark Co. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion #457 of Phelps, and Arcadia Memorial Post #2883 VFW Post of Newark, and the Buckhorn Sportmen's Club of Phelps. Interment in Fairfield Cemetery, Spencerport. He is survived by two daughters, Susan and Cathy; a sister, Evelyn Bauer of Spencerport; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; cousins; and a special friend, Wilma Smith of Waterloo.

Hess, Evelyn (DePoint) - Evelyn (DePoint) Hess, 82, of Massachusetts, formerly of Sodus, died April 23, 2000, at Pleasant Bay Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brewster, MA, after a long illness. Evelyn was born on July 17, 1917, in Sodus, to John Ameele DePoint and Mary (Shuldt) DePoint. She attended Sodus Central School and attended Rider College. She was a secretary for Wayne County Soil Conservation Department, and a secretarty to the Director of the U.S.O. in Sandpoint, Idaho. She moved to Newark and became a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, the Newark Garden Club, and the Newark Hospital Aide Association. She then moved to Chatham, Massachusetts and became a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Chatham Garden Club. She is survived by her husband, W. Donald Hess; a son, Donald Scott Hess of Petaluma, California; a grandson, Evan Schott Hess of Petaluma, California. She was predeceased by her parents, John Ameele DePoint & Mary (Shuldt) DePoint.

Fox, Mabel (Provost) - Mabel I. (Provost) Fox, of Marion and Williamson, died April 23, 2000 at age 87. She was a member of the Pultneyville Reformed Church. She is survived by her daughters, Marlene Sargent of Marion, Carol Boerman of Marion, Betty (Milton) Lum of Clifton Springs; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Ivan (Cornelia) Provost of East Williamson; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry J. Fox in 1978; and predeceased by brother, Glenn Provost. Private interment in Lake View Cemetery, Pultneyville.

VanHoute, Douglas - Douglas A. VanHoute, 49, of Newark, died April 27, 2000 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Doug was born in Newark on January 24, 1951 to Welman and Arlene DeFisher VanHoute. He attended Newark Schools and served in the Navy from 1969-70. Interment is in the Marion Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Merilou Petrus Van Houte; daughters, Samantha Santelli, Stacey and Melody VanHoute; sons, Jeremy and James VanHoute; four grandchildren; his mother, Arlene VanHoute (Warren) Tierion of Henrietta; brother, Herbert (Catherine) VanHoute of North Rose; his sister, Bonnie (Joseph) Cocca of Henrietta; his in-laws, Mary and Jockey Petrus of Newark; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Welman VanHoute in 1987.

Barclay, Hazel - Hazel A. Barclay, 88, died April 29, 2000 at Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Barclay is remembered as a golfer, active at Newark Country Club, one-time member of the Rose City Ensemble singers, member of the Methodist Quilters and Newark Garden Club, a Red Cross volunteer, sales associate at The Paris, and an outstanding Newark citizen. Interment, Newark Cemetery.

Renner, Elwood T. - Elwood T. Renner , 77, of Newark, died May 2, 2000. Interment is in East Newark Cemetery. He was born June 6, 1922 in Hopewell, to Harry and Anna Dunkle Renner. Elwood was a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers, Local 832, Rochester. In World War II, he served in the Army Engineer Aviation Battalion and took part in the invasions at Omaha Beach on D-Day. He also took part in the battles of Northern France and Rhineland. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, June; sister, Helen Decker of Newark; and wife's sister, Eleanor Swanson of Greensboro, AL; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, and sisters, Edna VandenBussche and Ruth King.

Wunder, Clara (Schneller) - Clara E. A. (Schneller) Wunder, 102, of Newark, died May 2, 2000, at the DeMay Living Center, where she lived since 1994. She was born on October 7, 1897 in and lived in Lyons and Newark. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lyons. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Surviving are son, Ralph (Edna) Wunder of Penfield; daughter, Doris McCartney of Newark; granddaughter, Sharon Rothfuss of Newark: great-grandchildren, Heather and Charles: nieces and nephews. Her husband Henry A. Wunder died in 1997 at age 96.

Olmstead, Richard - Richard Allen Olmstead, of Boston, MA, formerly of Geneva, died April 9, 2000. Richard was born Oct. 23, 1946, in Geneva, the son of Frederick Law and Louise Varno Olmstead. He was a 1964 graduate of Geneva High School, received his bachelor's degree from the State University College at New Paltz, and his master's of science from the University of Arizona. He was a substance-abuse counselor, who dedicated his life to others. Interment at Glenwood Cemetery. He is survived by his mother, Louise Varno Olmstead of Newark; his sister, Patricia Wilson of Geneva; brothers, Frederick (Ann) Law Olmstead III of Hawaii, Eugene (Linda) Olmstead of Elmira and Ronald (Debbie) Olmstead of Boston, Mass.; and several nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his father.

VanStrien, Sally - Sally VanStrien, 91, formerly of Marbletown Road, Newark, died May 3, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. She was born October 30, 1908 to William and Sara Dejaeger VanStrien in Zeeland, Holland. She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm on Marbletown Road. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her sister, Leonora Maine of Palmyra; step-brother, Dennis VanStrien; stepsisters, Mary DeMink and Trudy Longrod; sister-in-law, Margaret DeLeeuw; one niece and two nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John DeLeeuw, who died on September 21, 1994.

Parker, Lawrence - Lawrence P. Parker, 62, of Arcadia-Zurich Rd., Newark, died May 3, 2000 in Clifton Springs Hospital. Larry was born September 15, 1937 in Wrightstown, Pennsylvania to Perry and Mary German Parker. He was married to Dolores 'Pokie' Bush on June 19, 1981, at the Port Gibson home of her parents. Larry was a retiree of Mobil Chemical in Macedon. Interment will be in Port Gibson Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Dolores 'Pokie' Bush Parker; sons, Karl (Judy) Parker of Hilton, Gary (Linda) Parker and Michael Parker of Lyons, Larry Parker of Williamson and Darrin (Kim) Parker of Elmira; brothers, Leon (Sandra) Parker of Bradford, PA and Lynford (Linda) Parker of Westfield, PA; sisters, Jocelyn Parker, Joyce (Stery) Root and Jacqueline (James) Mills of Westfield, PA, Joan Harding of Knoxville, PA and Jane Ames of Bath; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by a brother Harry Parker, and sisters, Janet Parker and Lois Parker.

Hill, Richard - Richard R. Hill, 29, of Newark, died suddenly on May 6, 2000. Bowerman, Wilma - Wilma 'Cooky' Bowerman, 83, of Newark, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Wilma was born July 26, 1916 in Clyde, the daughter of Hart and Lulu Mae McCarthy Cookman. She retired in 1979 from the Newark Developmental Center with 25 years of service. She worked for the Federal Government in the Far East, Tokyo, and for Social Security in Chicago for 10 years. She was a member of the O.E.S, Chapter #100 of Clyde, the Top of the Hill Retirees Club, the Wayne County Humane Society, the Newark Public Library and the Arcadia Senior Citizens. She had also played trombone in the Clyde Saxton Band. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Newark-Wayne Hospital Auxiliary Twigs. A graveside service was held at East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by several cousins, Betty Hill of Manlius and Leon Cookman of North Carolina; and several friends including, Sharon Tellier and Barb and John Ochs of Newark. She was predeceased by her husband, Col. Thomas Bowerman in 1994.

May, Helen - Helen Irene Hansen May, 103, died April 28, 2000, in St. Petersburg FL. Born in Cambridge MA, to Marie Friis Hansen and Hans Christian Hansen, originally from Denmark. She was a graduate of the High School of Practical Arts in Boston. In 1984 she was an extra for the movie 'Cocoon' and appeared in the opening scene. Graveside services in St. Petersburg, FL. She is survived by nieces, Deborah Hall Hansen-Taylor of Newark, Priscilla W. Allen of MD, Cynthia Lasserre of Paris, France, and Kristin Steele of OH and FL; nephews, Winslow W. Wright of WA and Leonard M. Wright of NY.

Welly, Louise - Louise Welly, 96, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Newark, died May 1, 2000 at Sunburst Rehabilitation center in Bradenton. She is survived by her daughters, Norma Miller and Phylis Levy; grandaughters Karen, Kim and Kyle Miller, and Kathy Levy; niece Dottie Langenstein; other nieces and nephews.

Baker, Gertrude - Gertrude K. Brink Baker, 80, of Newark, died May 7, 2000, at DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Baker was born on April 11, 1920 in Holland, the daughter of Lukas and Harriet Myers Kamminga. She retired from the Newark Development Center in 1981 and then was active in the foster grandmother program for seven years. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter Harriet Farnworth of Clyde; granddaughter Beth (Thomas) Castle of Colts Neck, NJ; grandsons, Clarence Lumadue and Justus Farnsworth, Jr. both of Clyde; two great-grandsons, and cousins in Churchville. She was predeceased by her husbands Clarence Brink in 1963 and George Baker in 1971.

Beerens, Abram - Abram J. Beerens, 93, died May 10, 2000, at the Via-Health of Wayne -Newark Campus. Mr. Beerens was born to Jacob and Maria Tellier Beerens on April 3, 1907 in Holland. He retired frorn C.H. Stuart Co., in 1967 after working there as a private chauffeur for 40 years. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, serving on the Vestry Board. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jane VanGee Beerens; son and daughter-in-law, David and Marylee Beerens of Bloomfield; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. Interment at East Newark Cemetery. Mr. Beerens was predeceased by his son Ronald in 1982 and his brother Jacob.

Kudla, Irene - Irene Kudla, 83, formerly of the Boyle Center, died May 9, 2000, at the Finger Lakes Center for Living, following an extended illness. She was a lifelong resident of Auburn. She was born on May 28, 1916 to Frank and Agnes Doyle Walker. She attended local schools including Holy Family Holy School. She was a homemaker, dedicating much of her time to her family. Mrs. Kudla was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. She is survived by a daughter, Susan Kudla of Denver; three sons, Richard (Carol) Kudla of West Palm Beach, FL; David (Marie) Kudla of Newark, Donald (Anne) Kudla of Port Byron; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; cousin Jane Shambo and close friend Camille Donovan, both of Auburn; niece and nephew. Her husband John Kudla predeceased her in 1975.

Neal, Eleanor F. - Eleanor F. Neal, 75, of Honeoye and Newark, died May 10, 2000. She was a member of the Canadice Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. (Donald) Jackie Ward of Sodus; sons, Brian and James White of Florida; and a grandson, Christopher. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond in 1998.

Amos, Eleanor Wright Otto - Eleanor Wright Otto Amos, 81, formerly of Marion, died April 1, 2000, in the Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. Eleanor graduated from Marion High School in 1936 and attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester. Her father, the Rev. Otto, was a former pastor at the Baptist Church in Marion. Interment in Port Kent, NY. She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. Carl Amos; son, David of Farmington Hills, Michigan; daughter, Dr. Deborah Cohen of Seattle; brother, Cornelius Otto of Garden City, SC; and sister, Genevieve Spoerer of Crossville, Tennessee.

Pallotti, Rafe Rita - Rafe Rita Paliotti, 85, of Montezuma St., Lyons, died May 11, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Rafe was born Jan. 22, 1915, in Lyons, the daughter of Louis and Susan Vitaro Cinelli. She retired from Parker-Hannifin in Lyons in 1975 and worked for the Foster Grandparents Program for 16 years. She was a member of St. Michael's Church. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by a son, John (Phyllis) of Lyons; one grandson, Justin; three brothers, Frank and Eugene Cinelli of Lyons and Arthur of Clyde; sister, Rose Mason of Newark; nieces and nephews; and two step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip S. in 1965; and their son, Philip A. in 1999.

Blauvelt, Ida May - Ida May Blauvelt, 87, of Newark, died May 11, 2000, at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Ida was born June 13, 1912 in Mount Morris, the daughter of William and Ella Wright. She moved from Mount Morris at an early age and graduated from Canandaigua High School. She worked at F.F. Thompson Hospital and the Hotel Pickering from many years. She moved to Florida in 1968, where she worked at the Halifax District Hospital and the Sun Tan Motel in Daytona Beach. She was a member of the Newark First Baptist Church, the RSVP and the American Legion. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her son, George (Pamela) Blauvelt; daughters, Nancy (Charles) Race, Mary Jane English, Suzanne (David) Simmons, Patricia Blauvelt, Sandra Passalacqua, Bonnie Thompson and Linda Brink; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and special fliends, Elmer and Sheila Mollenkopf. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Terri Lee Simmons, in 1988.

Main, Roland M. - Roland F. Main of Macedon, died May 14, 2000, at age 86. Interment in Macedon Cemetery. Roland is survived by his son, Francis (Marilyn) Man of Oviedo, FL; daughter, Mary Jane (Les) Beach of Marion; son-in-law, Robert Martin of Palmyra; 12 grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; sister, Elsie Warren; sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth and daughter, Arlene Martin.

L'Amoreaux, Marion - Marion L'Amoreaux, 94, formerly of Newark and Rochester, died May 15, 2000 at the Ontario County Health Facility. Miss L'Amoreaux was born and went to school in Spencer, New York. She received a teaching degree from the Oneonta Normal School and a Master's degree from Syracuse University. She taught English for 31 years at Newark High School, was head of the English Department and served as director of the High Times page of the Newark Courier-Gazette. After retirement in 1960, Miss L'Amoreaux went to teach at the Rochester Institute of Technology, teaching reading to college students at the R.I.T. Counseling Center. While at Newark High School, she was recognized for her broadmindedness, her natural ability to understand her pupils, her loyality, and her sense of humor. She was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church on East Avenue in Rochester. Interment at the Evergreen Cemetery in Spencer, NY. Miss L'Amoreaux is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Clara and John Palmer of Canandaigua, several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.

Frey, Gerald Arthur - Gerald 'Gerry' A. Frey, 85, of Ryder Rd., Newark, died May 15, 2000 at the Via-Health of Newark. Gerry was born the son of Charles and Luetta Steele Frey on September 17, 1914 in Town of Arcadia. He graduated from Newark's Washington High School in 1932. He was involved with grain, cattle, and dairy farming most of his life. Gerry worked at Francis Metal Corp. and retired from Rando Machine Corp. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Fairville Fire Dept., and Newark Grange #366 for 25 years. Gerry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeanne Brightman Frey; daughter, Susan (Bradley) DeWispelaere of Lockport; sons, William, Gerald (Nancy), both of Newark, James (Sandra) of Fairport, and Dr. David (Mary) Frey of Syracuse; nine grandchildren, Scott Christopher, Ruth Ann, Daniel, Matthew and Ethan Frey, Karen, Jackie and Alan DeWispelaere; brother, Charles (Dorothy) Frey of Sodus; sister-in-law, June Frey of Fairport; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Elwyn Frey and a sister, Vida Petersen.

Miles, Barbara Ann - Barbara A. Miles, 49, formerly of Hoffman St., Newark, died May 15, 2000, at Genesee Hospital in Rochester. Barb was born the daughter of Floyd and Alberta Cotton Bateman on April 17, 1951 in Warsaw, NY. She attended Newark Assembly of God Church on Lincoln Avenue. Interment, East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her brother, Raymond Cotton of Newark; sisters Annabelle of East Aurora and Emily Heers of Palmyra; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Miles, on May 16, 1998.

DeWeaver, Mary Margaret - Mary Margaret DeWeaver, 53, of Clifton Springs/Newark, died May 16, 2000, at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Mary was born on November 16, 1946, the daughter of Lawrence and Thelma Lord DeWeaver. She had lived in the Newark area all her life and was employed as an attendant with the Newark Development Center. She was a member of St. Michael's Church. Interment, Newark Cemetery. Mary is survived by her son, David, of Newark; sister, Jeane (Peter) Ziccardi of Marilla, NY; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father on Jan. 18, 2000, her mother on Jan. 9, 1997, and sister, Joan Stone, in 1987.

Dayton, Mildred R. - Mildred Fisher Dayton, 92, formerly of Newark, died May 18, 2000, at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Dayton was born to William and Elizabeth Tellier Fisher on March 30, 1908 in Arcadia. She graduated from Newark High School in 1925. She continued her education at the Sodus Training School, Class of 1926, and then at Brockport State Teachers College. Mrs. Dayton taught for 16 years in rural schools in the Town of Arcadia, which included Sand Hill School No. 14, and School No. 9. She became a member of the First Baptist Church of Newark on Jan. 9, 1929. She was also a member of the Arcadia Teachers Associations. Interment, Marion Cemetery. She is survived by her special friends: Roy (Mary) Wilck, Carolyn (Gordon) Adriaansen, Barbara (William) DeWandel, Nancy (Eugene) Smith and Linda Roeland; and many cousins. She was predeceased by husband Peter Dayton on Sept. 24, 1980.

Pulcini, Bernard - Bernard Pulcini, Jr., 67, of Palmyra, died suddenly on May 17, 2000, at home. He was a lifelong resident of Palmyra, owner and operator of Pulcini's Junkyard for many years. He loved hunting and gardening. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery. She was active in Bergen County Retired Education Association, AARP Paramus Chapter #3834, and a member of Mary Elizabeth Alter Guild, and Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the James Hickey American Legion Post of Palmyra. Interment at St. Anne's Cemetery in Palmyra. Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen; children, Roger (Rita) Lonneville and Nancy (Bob) Hauser; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Lansberry, Rebecca - Rebecca A. Lansberry, 89, of Dobbs Ferry, NY, formerly of Newark, died May 24, 2000 at the Montefore Hospital, in the Bronx. She was born on July 20, 1910 in Woodland, PA, a daughter of the late Josiah M. and Maude I. (Shirey) Evans. Mrs. Lansberry retired in 1975 from Sarah Coventry. Prior to that she was employed by the Newark State School and the Stuart Nursery. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newark, and the Methodist Quilters. She also was an active member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and a member of the Mellow Dears, a senior band group. She enjoyed making arts and crafts, camping, and making desserts. Interment is in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde, Pennsylvania. She is survived by children, Carolyn Lansberry of Dobbs Ferry, Marilyn Lansberry of Palmdale, CA, Milton Lansberry of Jamestown; grandchildren, Tami Lansberry of Newark and Timothy Lansberry of Milford, Ohio. She was predeceased by her husband, Breon L. Lansberry, son Sheldon Lansberry, and brother Milton Evans.

Gonska, Theresa - Theresa Gonska, 84, of Newark, died May 28, 2000 at the Wayne Co. Nursing Home. Mrs. Gonska was born in Austria, the daughter of Paul and Maria Zainer. She is survived by her companion of many years, Max McClellan; 3 sons, Hans (Anni) Zainer of Austria, Ludwig (Carol) Sailer of NJ, Otto (Patty) Staszka of NJ; daughter, Helen (Harry) Sherman of Lyons; , nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; four sisters in Austria. Barnmaker, Russell 'Barney' - Russell 'Barney' M. Barnmaker, 89, formerly of Palmyra, died May 25, 2000, at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mr. Barnmaker was born Nov. 2, 1910 in Newark, to Harry and Rosa Puls Barnmaker. He attended the Palmyra United Methodist Church. For several years he owned and operated Barney's Service Station in Lyons, leaving in 1961. He then worked at Sears in Rochester, retiring in 1976. The Marine Corps flag was flown in honor of his service in the South Pacific during World War II. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Mr. Barnmaker is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Steve Smart of South Carolina; grandchildren, Mickey and Bradd Cox, and Debbie (Tim) Brennan, all of Georgia; sisters, Lillian Strong and Myrtle Bloom, both of Newark; nieces and nephews. Mr. Barnmaker was predeceased by his wife, Helen Lewis Barnmaker, on Dec. 12, 1986.

Suchetzky, Mary Rita - Mary Rita Suchetzky, 72, of Newark and Lyons, died May 28, 2000, at ViaHealth Newark. Mary was born May 22, 1928 in Lockport. She attended programs at the Wayne ARC in Newark. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Lyons. She is survived by her sister, Cecila Suchetzky of Seneca Falls; her family care provider, Tammy Colburn and her family of Phelps; and many friends at the ARC. She was predeceased by her mother, Genevieve Suchetzky in October 1994.

Jackson, Josephine E. -Josephine E. Jackson, 86, of Marion and Newark, died May 31, 2000. She retired from the Columbia Civic Center, K of C in 1965. She is survived by son, George Swift of Canandaigua; nieces Joan Croxson of Webster and Sandra Krockenberger of Brockport; five great-nieces; her husband Marvin Jackson passed away in 1986.

DeVall, Gladys M. - Gladys M. DeVall, 73, of Newark, died at Newark Manor Nursing Home June 2, 2000. Interment in Glenside Cemetery, Wolcott. She is survived by her son, Donald of Canandaigua; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Vollertsen of Newark; three sisters, Barbara Howe of Newark, Shirley Houck of Newark, Patricia Klever of Palmyra; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Donald in 1997, and by a sister, Christine Huling.

Walter, Lillian B. - Lillian B. Walter, 87, of Johnson City, NY died May 24, 2000. Interment in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. She was a former Newark resident and member of the Washington High School Class of 1932. Lillian was the daughter of Will and Bessie Smith. She is survived by her husband, Hector Walter; a brother, Laverne Smith of North Main St., Newark; cousins, nieces and nephews.

Teufel, Robert J. - Robert J. 'Bob' Teufel, 72, died June 3, 2000 in Aberdeen, Maryland, while attending his sister's 50th wedding anniversary party. Bob was born to Walter and Marjorie Singiser Teufel on January 27, 1928 in Wilmington, Delaware. He owned and operated a Carvel Ice Cream store on East Henrietta Road for many years. Then he drove school bus for Newark Central School and retired in November 1999. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy Wyant Teufel; son John (Elizabeth) Teufel of Phelps; daughters Janet Teufel of Phelps, JoAnn (Robert) Cummings of Corfu, and Carol (Jim) Provoost of Newark; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother Neil (Lois) Teufel of PA.; sisters Jean Earl of PA, and Joyce (Wayne) Goodson of NJ; many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his brother-in-law Ira Earl in November 1999.

O'Meal, Frances Carroll - Frances Carroll 'Frannie' O'Meal, 72, of Newark, died June 3, 2000, at The House of John in Clifton Springs. Frances was born March 4, 1928, in the town of Palmyra, the daughter of William 'Pete' and Eloine Gilfus Carroll. She was a customer representative for Chase Lincoln for more than 37 years, retiring in 1990. She is a member of the Park Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Association in Newark. Interment is in East Palmyra Cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Sue (Daryl) Martin; and a granddaughter, Samantha Jo Martin all of Newark; two nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and a sister, Marjorie Fegadel in 1983.

Acchione, Fannie J. - Fannie J. Acchione, 77, of Lyons, died June 4, 2000, at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark Campus. Mrs. Acchione was born July 17, 1922, in Syracuse, a daughter to Nicholas and Genevieve Rescignano. She was employed by the Lyons Central School District as a teacher's aide. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by one son, Bruce (Beverly) of Lyons; one daughter, Arlene (Scott) Lent of Newark; and four grandchildren: Brooke and Bret Acchione, Corrin Lohrmann and Ashley Lent.

Clark, Donald V. - Donald V. Clark, 67, of Marion, died June 6, 2000. Interment in Marion Cemetery. He is survived by sibings, Howard (Joyce) Clark, Leonard Clark, Barbara (Jerry) Brown, Judith (Eugene) Taillie; nieces, nephews, cousins; predeceased by his parents, Anna and Vern Clark.

Albrecht, Elizabeth Ann - Elizabeth Ann Albrecht, 41, of Lyons, died suddenly on June 9, 2000, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Macedon. Beth Ann was born in Lyons on Aug. 21, 1958, a daughter to Howard and Barbara Fox Albrecht. She was a 1976 graduate of Lyons High School and was employed at the Wayne County Department of Social Services, as a senior account clerk for 11 years. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Surviving are her fiance, Stephen DeNeef and his daughter, Courtney, of Lyons; her parents, Howard and Barbara (Fox) Albrecht of Lyons; three brothers, Howard Jr. (Lisa) of Lyons, Scott (Marianne) of Lyons, and Todd (Kelly) of Auburn; nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Terri, in 1986.

Westfall, Lillian - Lillian A. Westfall, 92, of Newark, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at her home. Interment in Rest Haven Cemetery in Phelps. Mrs. Westfall was born March 16, 1908 in Clifton Springs, the daughter of George and Mary Brown Walters. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Westfall was a 1929 graduate of the Clifton Springs School of Nursing and for many years did private duty nursing. She had been active with the Home Bureau of Newark and the Amitie Chapter 473, Order of the Eastern Star. A former member of the Newark Senior Citizens, she enjoyed contributing to their quilting and crocheting projects. She is survived by three daughters, Joan (Alan) St. George of Fairview Park, Ohio, Judith (Ben) Lynch of Horseheads and Nancy (Gary) Sproul of Newark; son, James (Sally) of Newark; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Leon A. Westfall on Aug. 1, 1983.

Glerum, Esther - Esther M. Glerum, 94, of Newark, died June 11, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Glerum was born the daughter of Charles and Maryann Hopple Humbert on December 12, 1905 in Lyons, New York. She and her husband owned the Glerum Farms on Route 88 North. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her sister Grace Martin of Alabama, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Christian Glerum on May 17, 1979, and by nine brothers and five sisters.

Boeye, Elsie (Everdyke) - Elsie M. (Everdyke) Boeye, 86, of Williamson, died on June 9, 2000. Survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Ivan and Ruth Boeye of Williamson; grandchildren, John Boeye, Laurie (Edward) Winder; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Kasey Winder; brothers, Elmer (Alice) Everdyke, Warren (Genevieve) Everdyke, Ralph (Betty) Everdyke all of Newark; sisters, Grace Dubois, Marian VanLaeken both of Newark; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1984 by her husband, Peter Boeye. Interment in Furnaceville Cemetery, Ontario.

Monje, Theodore - Theodore 'Ted' Monje, 42, formerly of Newark, died suddenly June 4, 2000 in Kyle, Texas. Ted was born in Japan on June 24, 1958 the son of Jack Monje of Tampa, FL and grandson of Hazel Monje of Newark. He was a graduate of Texas Tech University. A computer engineer with Cirrus Logic in Austin Texas, held a private pilots license and was a member of the Fallen Comrades Model Airplane Group. He is survived by his wife, Rosie; son, Shawn; daughter, Shannon all of Kyle, Texas; brother, Alex (Carrie) Monje of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Barbara (Bart) Mathews of Clearwater, Florida and Sheil (Carey) Frost of Dunedin, Florida; several nieces and nephews.

Englert, Julia - Julia V. Englert, 82, of Newark, died June 10, 2000, at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Mrs. Englert was born Oct. 8, 1917 in Manchester, the daughter of Bernard and Prudence VanWaes VanDeMoortel. She was retired from the Newark Developmental Center, where she had been an attendant. Julia was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Interment is in Port Gibson Cemetery. She is survived by her sister, Sylvia 'Sally' Wright of Port Gibson, and 10 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Mary Yost in 1992, and Margaret Molina, in 1993.

Vermeulen, Jacob - Jacob 'Coe' Vermeulen, 86, a lifelong resident of Sodus, died June 9, 2000 at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Jacob was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church of Sodus and served multiple terms as an Elder and Deacon. He retired from the Sodus Central School District custodial staff and remained an avid gardener and devoted father. Interment in Baptist Rural Cemetery. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Rawden) in 1983. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, James and Carolyn, and Wayne and Andrea, all of Sodus; brothers and sisters, Katherine VanHall, Jozina (Boss) Leenhouts, Lavina (John) Sonneville, Albert (Mildred) Vermeulen, Ernest (Thelma) Vermeulen; sister-in-law, Dorothy Rawden; nieces and nephews. He also was predeceased by siblings, Mary, Cornelia, Henry, Samuel , Cornelis, William, Abram, Adrienne 'Jen' Lockwood and Elsie.

Besaw, Rita - Rita M. Besaw, 74, died June 9, 2000. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery. Rita is survived by daughters Patricia Bishop, Sheila (Robert) Murphy and Rosanne Venette; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Stiles, Mary Lou (Buck) - Mary Lou Stiles, 69, a lifelong resident of Newark, died June 17, 2000 after a long struggle with multiple sclerosis. She had resided for more than ten years at the Newark Manor Nursing Home and at DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Stiles was born in Newark on September 25, 1930, the daughter of William and Lulu Orlopp Buck. She attended the Newark Public School and graduated from high school in 1948 as salutatorian. She attended Michigan State University and the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston; she worked for the Wright and Livingston Law Office in Newark. When Mr. Livingston became a New York State Supreme Court Justice, she went with him as his secretary and assistant confidential clerk. Following Justice Livingston's death, she retired. Mary Lou had participated in many civic matters, and for many years was an active member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Newark. She leaves her husband of 29 years, Harold J. Stiles, a retired Wayne County Judge and Acting Justice of the New York Supreme Court; she also leaves a brother, William Buck of Silver Spring, Maryland; four stepchildren, Pamela, John, James, and David Stiles, to whom she was a loving surrogate mother.

VanNorman, Anne C. - Anne (Crothers) VanNorman, 46, died June 18, 2000 at her home on Highland Avenue, Newark. She had owned and operated local boutique, 'BackStreet' on South Main Street since 1990. Anne was born July 11, 1953 in Rochester to Lyman and Betty Drake Crothers. Her parents are both deceased. Anne is survived by two children, Amy VanNorman of Rochester and Jay VanNorman of Newark; two sisters, Mary (Creig) Wienke of Holliston, MA and Kathy Seymour of Newark; brother, Charles (Joanna) Crothers of Annapolis, MD; several nieces and nephews. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

DePoint, John I., Sr. - John I. DePoint, Sr., of Marion, died June 15, 2000 at age 82. Mr. DePoint was a World War II veteran. Graveside military service was held on June 19 at Marion Cemetery. He is survived by his daughter, Diane (Donald) Schoonerman of Richmond, VA; his son, John (Debby) DePoint, Palmyra; 3 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret.

Foretich, Dorothy - Dorothy Foretich of Marion died June 5, 2000 at the hospital in Newark. She made her home with her friend Peggie Phillips and family. Interment in Marion Cemetery.

Phillips, Robert Andrew - Robert A. Phillips, 75, of Manchester and of Newark, died June 20, 2000 at DeMay Living Center, Newark. He was born on Dec. 30, 1924, in Watertown, the son of Carl and Florence Beadle Phillips. He was a machinist first class with the Navy during World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Howard, a minesweeper, in the Pacific Theater. Bob graduated in 1950 from Niagara University with a bachelor of science degree in economics. He had worked for 25 years as a machinist in the 'short run shop' for Xerox, retiring in 1987. He was also an Alcoholics Anonymous counselor for 24 years with FLACRA in Newark, the Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Springs, and the Caron Foundation in Rochester. Bob was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and had been a member of the Oatka Masonic Lodge in Scottsville. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Phelps. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beatrice Lange Phillips, and nine children: Robert (Patricia) of El Paso, TX, Michael (JoAnn) of Marion, Sharon (Frank) All of Newark, Thomas of Marion, Patricia (Bernard) Pulver of Canandaigua, Pamela of Newark, David (Elizabeth) of Shortsville, Suzanne of Newark, and Jeffrey (Patricia) of Albuquerque, NM; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and a son, Patrick.

DeWispelaere, Peter - Peter DeWispelaere, of Newark, died June 20, 2000. He was born in Groede, Holland, worked at Garlock Packing Co., was a volunteer fireman and fire policeman, and was active in the Newark Volunteer Fire Department Deluge Hose Co. #1. He had a winter home in Seminole, FL. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth (Hickey) DeWispelaere; daughters, Donna (Jim) Fitch, Ann (Dennis) Fosnaugh, Mary (Kevin) McDermott; 10 grandsons; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette (Paul) DeBout and Madolyn Tierson; nieces and nephews.

Steele, Lena Marie - Lena Marie Steele, 72, died June 25, 2000 at Newark Manor. Lena was born Nov. 23, 1927 in Ithaca, the daughter of Luigi and Mary Asunda Cavone. She was retired from the Newark Developmental Center, having worked in food service; she was a member of the CSEA. Interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Oaks Corners. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Vicki) of Ontario and Stephen of Newark; daughter, Ruth Ann (Delbert) Zuller of Macedon; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul Cavone of Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, John L. Steele; her longtime companion, William Davenport; and daughter-in-law, Gloria Steele.

Boss, Jennie Everdyke - Jennie Everdyke Boss, 86, of E. Miller St., Newark, died June 26, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Jennie was born May 12, 1914, in Williamson, the daughter of John and Jennie Timmerman DeRue. She was a waitress for over 40 years at Frederick's Restaurant, Steak & Rib and Crockford's. She was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW auxiliaries in Newark. Interment in Marion Cemetery. She is survived by daughter, Mrs. Dolores (Gordon) DeVall of North Rose; two granddaughters, Patricia (Gale) Guthrie of North Rose and Kathleen (Todd) Rowley of Wolcott; four great-grandsons; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Rupert.

Porray, Bernard F. - Bernard F. Porray, 85, died June 25, 2000, at the Pines of Peace in Ontario. Bernie was a lifelong member of the Walworth United Methodist Church, where he was Head Usher for 50 years. He was the former chairman of the Wayne Co. ASCS, 30 yr. member of the Walworth Town Assessment Committee, and an avid supporter of Wayne Central athletic teams. Interment in Furnaceville Cemetery, Ontario. He is survived by his wife of 66 yrs., Engartha; daughter, Phyllis (James) Kommer of Newark; sons, Bernard Jr., (Katherine), Lyle (Lori) both of Fairport; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Melba Porray, Darlene Strussenberg, Lucille (John) Van Hall; nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by brother Kenneth of Las Vegas; & sister Marjorie Brown of Webster.

Harris, Rochlene Ann - Rochlene Ann Harris, 40, of Jackson St., Lyons, died suddenly on June 24, 2000 at Rochester General Hospital. Rochlene was born in Sodus on Feb. 12, 1960, daughter to Donald and Doris Smith Brown. She was employed at McDonald's in Lyons. Interment is in the Newark Cemetery. Surviving are her husband, Arthur; daughter, Jacqueline; stepson, Jamie; her father, Donald Brown of Sodus Center; two sisters, Thelma Orta of Lyons and Lori Mashtare of Herkimer; four brothers, Owen (Jennell) Brown of Brockport, Dale Brown of Rochester, Robert Jr., and Larry Widey, both of California; stepmother, Eleanor Putman. She was predeceased by her son, Jeremy; her mother, Doris Brown; sister, Donna Peets; her twin brother, Leo Brown; and Christopher Wildey.

Schneider, Edgar L. - Edgar L. Schneider, 91, died June 24, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. Mr. Schneider was born Aug. 12, 1908, in Baltimore, the son of Louis C. and Mamie Kappler Schneider. He worked all his life at the family business, Purity Cake Co. in Baltimore, which was started by his grandfather. He moved to Newark in 1991, after the death of his wife of 59 years, Edna Schaub Schneider. Burial will be in Loudon Park, Baltimore, MD. He is survived by his daughter, Jeanne (Maurice) Strobridge of Newark; three grandchildren, Richard of San Diego, Lori (Jeffery) Stanton of Camp Hill, PA and Stephen (Anne Marie) of Fairport; six great-grandchildren.

Brown, Duane - Duane H. 'Buster' Brown, 70 of Rochester, died June 25, 2000 at his home. He was born August 29, 1920 in Rochester, the son of Duane and Mary 'Mamie' Golden Brown. He was a graduate of Newark High School and had attended St. Regis College in Denver. Buster served with the Air Force during World War II and was a member of the American Legion in Rochester and its 40 & 8. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Rochester Concil Knights of Columbus. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by brother, Richard of Newark; sisters, Katherine Chapman of Fort Myers, FL, and Eleanor Brown of Newark; and three nephews, Bernard, Richard and James Possee.

Gould, Elizabeth 'Betty' - Elizabeth 'Betty' Gould, 73, of Lyons, died June 17, 2000 at Holly Hill Nursing Home in Newbury, Ohio after a long battle with cancer. Betty was born July 25, 1926 in Newark, to Jay and Georgia Floodman Vanderbrook. She was a lifelong resident of the Newark and Lyons areas. She is survived by her son, Jon Gould of Lyons; daughter, Janeen (Bruce) Frank of Ohio; four grandchildren; brother, Harold Vanderbrook of Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Gould in 1996.

Kelley, Donna Lynne Lacey - Donna Lynne Lacey Kelley, 46, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Clyde, died June 29, 2000 as a result of an automobile accident. Donna was born July 14, 1953 to Lynn and Kathleen Anstee Lacey. She attended Clyde-Savannah High School, graduating in 1971, and attended Geneseo College, graduating in 1975. She and her family have lived in Jacksonville for the past 17 years. She taught school at San Jose Catholic School for 16 years. Donna is survived by her husband David A. Kelley; son, Ryan and daughter, Emily; mother Kathleen Lacey (Edmon) Lootens of Newark; grandmother, Susan Anstee of Clyde; brother, John Lacey of Pennsylvania; sister, Patricia Godkin (Jeffrey) Schram of Lyons; aunts, uncles, one niece and six nephews. 'Day Time' mother Polly Barnes and sisters Marlene, Brenda and Susie.

Shifflett, Asher W. - Asher W. Shifflett, 84, of Carnegie, PA, formerly of Newark, died suddenly on June 18, 2000 in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Shifflett was born in Grinnel, Iowa on October 14, 1915. He married Betty Cowan of Geneva in 1941 and together they raised four children. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. As a young man, he worked for the American Can Company in Geneva. In 1947, he moved with his wife and children to Newark where he worked with Empire Crafts, a flatware and china company. They moved to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada in 1954 where, as a vice president, he established a Canadian branch of the company. In 1958, they returned to Newark, and he assumed the position of President of Empire Crafts. In 1967 he ran an executive placement firm in Buffalo. In 1972, he joined Thermo-Sentinel, Inc. as Vice President of the cookware company and moved with his family to Pittsburgh. He retired in 1995. He was a member of the Newark Country Club and was an avid golfer. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and a parishioner at St. Michael's Church. Interment at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Surviving are his wife, Betty of Carnegie; children Joseph of Buffalo, Ruth LeDonne of Durbin, WV, John of Buffalo, and Barbara Speidel of Columbus; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Schultz, Clara M. - Clara M. Schultz, 70, of Walworth, died June 28, 2000. She was a retired Mobil Chemical secretary. Interment in Marion Cemetery. She is survived by daughters, Karen (Rick) Marsh of Ontario, California, Kim Lancaster and fiance Del VanHouter of Marion; one son, George (Kay) Hayes of Walworth; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank.
