Fuller, Robert - Robert D. 'Bob' Fuller, 80, of Newark, died December 28, 2000. Bob was born March 28, 1920 to Edward and Emily Wiley Fuller, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He was a partner of F & B Painting Contractors in Newark. He later worked for the Newark Hospital Emergency Department, as a nurse for 15 years, retiring in 1985. In recent years, he worked at Newark Wal-Mart as a greeter. Bob was a charter member of the Marbletown Volunteer Fire Department and the Newark-Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance. He also was a volunteer at the Waterloo Speedway for their ambulance. Bob was a member of the Newark American Legion Post #286. He was a Cub Scout Master for Pack #219 and served as commissioner in the Finger Lakes Council. He also served as a trustee for the Christ Community Church in Clyde. The funeral home flew the Army Flag in Bob's memory, for his service to this country. Interment at East Newark Cemetery. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Helen Brumm Fuller; sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Marjorie Fuller and Tracy and Elaine Fuller, all of Newark; two grandchildren, Julie Fuller and Peter Fuller; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Neil Fuller of Auburn; sister, Dorothy Marcinkowski of Central Square; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James Willson and sister, Elvena Bowman.

Anders, Myrtle D. - Myrtle D. Anders, 91, died December 18, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born in Rochester on September 16, 1909, she married John de Doelder and moved to Newark in 1938. She was a resident of Newark for 44 years before moving to California in 1982 and in 1997 to Las Vegas. While in Newark, she was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her son, Robert de Doelder, graduated from Newark High School and was married to Mary Livingston (now deceased), the daughter of the late Marshall and Grace Livingston. Myrtle is survived by her son, Robert J. de Doelder; daughter-in-law, Eileen; and step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Rebecca.

Kellogg, Marian Viola - Marian Viola Kellogg, 89, died December 28, 2000. She was born February 20, 1911 in Lyons, to Leon and Edna Vanderbilt Ketchum. She taught school in the Lyons area until the birth of her son, James, in 1943. Marian came to Newark in 1946. She was a member of Park Presbyterian Church, and was employed for a time at Sibley's and the Newark Hospital. Her husband, Henry M. Kellogg, died in 1993. After his death, Marian moved to Oklahoma to be near her son, James Kellogg, and daughter-in-law, Donna, of Bethany, OK, who survive her. A graveside memorial will be held in Newark.

Mangrum, Deborah - Deborah L. Mangrum, 45, died December 31, 2000 at the Palliative Care Center of Genesee Region Hospital in Rochester. Deborah was born Dec. 1, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan to Earl and Kathleen McCurry Mangrum. She had worked as an aide at St. Elizabeth's Home in Newark and had worked at the Sunoco Convenience Store in Lyons. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lyons. She is survived by Morgan Joshua Leonard; three sisters, Pamela Sample of Massachusetts, Belinda Simpson of Texas, and Kem Terhune of Lyons; brother, Danny Mangrum of Massachusetts; her mother, Kathleen Mangrum of Minnesota; nieces and nephews.

Elinor Bloomer - Elinor (Hallagan) Bloomer, 101, long-time resident of Newark, died December 22, 2000. She was born July 27, 1899 to Simon and Elizabeth Hallagan, in Utica. She is survived by her brother, Edwin (Louise) Hallagan; sons, Robert Jr. (Louise) and Thomas D. (Arlene); her daughter, Mary (Robert) Gulick; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert S. Bloomer; her sister, Alice Richmond, and her brothers, Stuart and Walter Hallagan.

Bowen, James - James H. Bowen, 73, of Clyde, died unexpectedly December 23, 2000. Mr. Bowen was born October 24, 1927 in Savannah, to James A. and Maggie Lapp Bowen. He worked in construction all his life, for Local #535. James is survived by his sisters, Clara (Bernard) Iocco of Newark and Dorothy Lewis of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

Hayes, Donald - Donald Hayes of Walworth, 79, died December 21, 2000. He was a WWII Army veteran and a retired Gleason employee. Interment in Walworth Cemetery. Donald is survived by his daughter, Donna Hayes, Walworth; son, Michael Hayes, Brockport; brother, Thomas (Harriet) Hayes, of Greece; sister, Berniece (Clayton) Arnold, FL.

Peller, Gyorgy - Gyorgy Peller of Newark, 64, died December 23, 2000. Mr. Peller was born Feb. 6, 1936 in Hungary, to Gyorgy and Emma Klaus Peller. He worked for 37 years for the Finger Lakes DDSO He retired in 1992 and was a member of CSEA. Gyorgy is survived by son, Gregory, and his fiancee, Lynn Rugg of Macedon; daughter, Mary Margaret (Tim) Bailey of Stanley; mother, Emma Peller of Hungary; five grandchildren; two brothers, Joska and Martin Peller of Hungary; several nieces and nephews.

Cassarino, Gary F. - Gary Cassarino of Palmyra, 50, died December 25, 2000. Mr. Cassarino was born July 6, 1950 in Rochester, to Philip and Grace Ketchum Cassarino. Gary is survived by his paternal grandmother, Antoinette Cassarino; his brothers, Charles and Philip Jr.; and a special aunt, Evelyn MacGregor.

Concert, Dominick - Dominick Concert, 67, of Silver Hill Road, Newark, died December 27, 2000 at Genesee Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Concert was born May 2, 1933 in Pittston, Pennsylvania, the son of Angelo and Sadie Concert. He was a steward with Laborers Union #435 in Rochester, for 22 years. Dom has been the owner and operator of Dom's East Newark Grill since 1978. He served in Korea with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and is a member of the Arcadia Memorial VFW Post #2883 and the August Mauer American Legion Post #286. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. He is survived by wife, Barbara; sons, Michael (Sharon) of Newark and Ronald of Lyons; five step-children: Laurie VerStraete of VA, James Swan of Randleman, NC, Gerald Swan of Statesville, NC, Tracy Moag of Statesville, NC, and Kimberly Swan of King Ferry, NY; two grandchildren, Ryan and Christopher Concert; several step-grandchildren; his siblings, Rose, Patricia, Angelo, Ann Marie and Sally.

Darrow, Alberta 'Pete' - Alberta 'Pete' Darrow, 92, of East Maple Ave., Newark, died December 27, 2000 at Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. She was born August 21, 1908 in Sayre, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Burton and Luvia Manning Magee. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Pete was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church and volunteered with the RSVP, and the Food Closet for the American Red Cross. She is survived by four sons: Jay (Janet) of Phoenix, AZ; Allan (Georgann) of Glendale, AZ; Richard (Shirley) of Newark; James (Nancy) of Gloverville, NY; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, in 1986; two brothers, William and Stanley, and a sister, Virginia Peters.

Buyck, Jason A. - Jason A. Buyck, Sergeant USMC, 24, formerly of Sodus, died in Jacksonville, NC on December 11, 2000, as a result of an aircraft accident. Born in Canandaigua on October 17, 1976, he graduated from Sodus Central School in 1994 and joined the US Marine Corps in 1996. Interment with Military Honors at Sodus Rural Cemetery. Jason is survived by by his beloved wife, Patty Buyck; his parents, Karen and Jim Buyck; brother, Andy, all of Sodus; maternal grandmother, Elaine Gregory of Delmar, NY; paternal grandparents, Lorraine and Elmer Buyck; father and mother-in-law, Douglas and Sharon Diver; brother-in-law, Douglas II (Tanya) Diver, all of Sodus.

Bastian, Dorothy - Dorothy Jane Bastian of Lyons, 76, died Dec. 17, 2000 at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Dorothy was born July 22, 1924 in Clyde to Levi and Ida Allen Donnelly. She worked for the General Electric Company in Clyde and Auburn for more than 22 years. She was a member of St. Michael's Church in Lyons; interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Emerson; sons, Rodney (Gail) of Sodus and Jarvis (Cathy) of Cary, NC; daughters, Bonita (Allen) Legott of Stafford, Donnalee Fernaays of Salem, OR, and Sharon Bastian of Lyons; brother-in-law Anthony Nicoletta; sister-in-law Luella Mierke; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

VanHall, Lester - Lester VanHall of Marion, 85, died December 13, 2000. Lester was a retiree from Garlock Inc. in Palmyra. Interment in Marion Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris (Collier) VanHall; cousins, Evelyn Clemons, Thelma Vermeulen, Hazel Doyle, Marian VanNorman, Carol Hubright; and other cousins, special neighbors and friends.

Muto, Rosemarie L. - Rosemarie L. Muto of Lyons, age 67, died December 17, 2000. Rosemarie is survived by brothers, Dominic 'Mickey' (Grace) and Robert Muto of Lyons; sister, Ann Malek of Pittsburg, PA; nieces, Andrea Dodson, Joanne Leoni and Carol Muto; nephews, Thomas and Paul Muto; several grandnieces and grand nephews.

Ross, Marion - Marion B. Ross, of Newark, 86, died Dec. 16, 2000 at ViaHealth, Newark campus. Mrs. Ross was born Feb. 5, 1914 in Wolcott, the daughter of Earl and Mary Newberry Brown. She graduated from the Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, PA, with a degree in nursing. Mrs. Ross was a nurse at the Newark Developmental Center for many years, retiring in 1976. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of its Rosary and Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Marion is survived by daughters, Mary (Ronald) Patterson of Hamlin, and Susan (John) Jarrett of Clarence Center; son Richard (Nancy) of Newark; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Harriet (Paul) Peseky of Elmira; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1978 by her husband Harry; and brother, Robert Brown.

O'Malley, James Jr. - James J. O'Malley, Jr., 90, of New York City, died December 20, 2000 at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark Campus. Mr. O'Malley was born August 13, 1910 in New York City, the son of James and Charlotte Bigelow O'Malley. He was a 1932 graduate of Princeton University and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1935. He served under Thomas Dewey as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan and then served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the New York State Commissioner of the Waterfront Commission during the term of Governor Nelson Rockefeller, and a partner in the practice of law with LeBoeuf, Lamb, Lieby, MacRae and Green. He was a communicant of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Manhattan. Interment at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York. He is survived by his son, Malcolm of Newark; and daughter, Anne O'Malley of New York City. He was predeceased by parents; his wife Marcella in 1998 and a brother, Douglas O'Malley.

Kulakowski, Rebecca - Rebecca (Becky VerDow) Kulakowski, 43, of Palmyra, died December 7, 2000 after a courageous 12-year battle with cancer. Becky is survived by her parents, Richard and Eldine VerDow; brothers: Rod (Cindy) VerDow, Randy (Mary) VerDow; many friends and relatives. Becky was a student at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua.

Phillips, Dorothy - Dorothy M. Phillips, 89, of Orchard Terrace, Sodus, died December 1, 2000 at home. She was a Clinical Psychologist at Willard State Hospital for many years. She was predeceased by her cousin, Leona Johnson; she is survived by cousins, Helen Verkey of Seneca Falls, Daniel Johnson of Sodus, Marion Fletcher of Lyons; and from Sodus, Dorothy Johnson, John Johnson, Donald Johnson, Richard Johnson and Virginia DeFisher.

Arbogast, Claude - Claude Arbogast, 67, of Brumm Rd., Newark, died Dec. 10, 2000 at the House of John in Clifton Springs after a long illness. Mr. Arbogast was born on May 4, 1933, in Sunbury, PA, the son of William and Dorothy Reitz Arbogast. He was a carpenter for 33 years at the Newark Developmental Center, retiring from there in 1988. For the next eight years, he operated Arbogast and Son General Contracting with his son, Bill. Claude was a charter member and past chief of the Marbletown Fire Department. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Lyons Rod and Gun Club, the North Syracuse Gun Club and the Twin County Sportsman Association. He was a member of the August Mauer Post American Legion and the Arcadia Memorial Post VFW in Newark. From 1953-55, he served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Lyons. He is survived by Shirley Robinson Arbogast, his wife of 44 years; his children, William (Sandra), Pamela (Douglas) Townsend, and David (Jodi), all of Newark; four grandchildren; two brothers, Carl (Virginia) of Marion and Larry (Joyce) of Bolivar; a sister, Linda (Junior) Roberts of Sodus; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, William, in 1986; his mother Dorothy in 1995; and grandson Michael Arbogast in 1986.

Shuman, Ann - Ann Terrell Shuman, 94, of Newark, formerly of Richmond, VA, died Dec. 10, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Ann was born in Hanover, VA to William Tyler and Mary Hardin Terrell on August 7, 1906. She worked for the Frank Jones Gas Co. in Virginia as a bookkeeper. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, VA. She was predeceased by her husband Russell in 1972; she is survived by her daughter Sara Heller of Newark; son William (Rose) Shuman of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

DeSmith, Dorothy - Dorothy R. DeSmith, 91, formerly of East Miller St., Newark, died Dec. 10, 2000 at the Crest Manor Nursing Home. She was born to Herve and Lillian LaPointe Reeves on Oct. 28, 1909 in Newark. She was a piano teacher in the Newark area for more than 40 years. She was the church organist at Port Gibson Methodist Church for 18 years, and at the Sodus Presbyterian Church for 10 years. Mrs. DeSmith was a member of the American Guild of Organist and a ember of the Silver Link Rebekah Lodge in Newark. She was Grand Noble three times and was awarded the Degree of Chivalry. She was named Newark Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year in 1993. Interment followed at Newark Cemetery. She is survived be her son and daughter-in-law, David DeSmith and Jane M. DeSmith Ph.D of Fairport; daughter-in-law Sandra DeSmith of Rushville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Abram in 1965 and son John in 1989.

Christensen, Ronald - Ronald C. Christensen, 62, of North Main St., Newark, died Dec. 8, 2000. Ron was born in Penn Yan, Dec. 23, 1937, to Carlton and Margaret Butler Christensen. He had worked for 21 years for Fold Pak Co. of Newark. He served 16 years in the Marine Corps on active duty and 17 years in the Army Reserves. He was a life member of Arcadia Memorial Post VFW 2883 and was a member of the American Legion of Newark. Military honors were accorded by the Marine Corps and VFW. Ron is survived by his wife of 22 years, Marlene (Ehrhardt) Christensen; stepchildren, Ronald (Karen) Baker, Lurinda White and Jolene (Paul) Schweickhard, and Douglas Barker; brother Carlton (Anna) Christensen of Virginia; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Weimer, Andrea - Andrea M. Weimer, 33, of Ressue Rd., Newark, died Dec. 9, 2000 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Andrea was born in Canandaigua, Dec. 21, 1966, the daughter of Leonard and Carol Amsler Clark. She had worked at STS Dual Tech Co., in Farmington. She was a social member of the Fairville Fire Department Auxiliary and a graduate of Palmyra-Macedon High School Class of 1985. Interment in Fairville Cemetery. Andrea is survived by Scott, her husband of 11 years; two daughters, Elizabeth and Carrie at home; her father, Leonard Clark of Walworth; her mother, Carol (Terry) Lainson of Farmington; maternal grandmother, Alta Amsler of Walworth; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lynn and Sharon Weimer; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Williams, James - James S. Williams, 68, died Dec. 8, 2000, in Boca Raton, FL. He was a Realtor in Boca Raton. He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Burm) Williams; children, James (Pam) Williams of Clifton Springs and Stacy (Grant) Cooper of Phoenix, AZ. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Beatrice Williams.

Pitts, John Edwards - John Edwards Pitts, 76, of Slaterville Springs (formerly of Sodus), died Dec. 8, 2000, at Hospicare following a lengthy illness. Born on November 22, 1924 in Elmira, John was a son of Arthur H. and Sadie B. (Brewin) Pitts. He faithfully served in WWII with the 42nd Rainbow Division in Europe. John received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star form the US Army at the time of his Honorable Discharge on August 31, 1945. He had been a long serving active member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary in Sodus Point, Virginia Beach, VA and Ithaca. In Ithaca, John served as Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 2-2. He was employed by the New York Telephone Company and Gallagher Real Estate in Ithaca. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Sylvia (Adriance) Pitts; 2 sons, David A. Pitts of Trumansburg and John A. (Edie) Pitts of Atlanta, GA; grandsons, Paul S. Pitts of Atlanta, GA and Matthew (Molly) McCracken of Chesapeake, VA; granddaughter Holly (Stephen) Patches of Chesapeake, VA; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Stephen Patches; sister Mary Pitts Roe of Rome, NY; brother Arthur H. Pitts of FL, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, daughter Susan Pitts McCracken, and brother Robert H. Pitts.

Jess, Stephany - Stephany Jess, 82, of Oklahoma City, OK, died Dec. 11, 2000. Stephany was born on July 14, 1918 in Hinckley, NY, the daughter of Stanley and Mary Dykty. The family move to Utica in 1921, where she received her education. She married Robert J. Jess, who died in 1982. The family moved from Utica in 1950 to live in Newark and Canandaigua, retiring to Oklahoma City in 1979. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. Interment in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Oklahoma. Stephany is survived by a daughter, Susan (Leonardo) Navarete; brother, S. Dykty of Oklahoma City; two nieces, several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Gunther, Harold - Harold J. Gunther, 70, died Dec. 11, 2000, at his home. Mr. Gunther was born June 16, 1930, in Buffalo to Harold O. and Mary Fick Gunther. Harold had worked with Key Industries in Newark for many years, and was well established in his lawn mowing business. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna. Harold is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara Dell Gunther; twin brother, Howard of West Seneca; sisters, Carol Fuller of West Seneca, Joan Angelli of Orchard Park, Diane Schipani, and brother, Gary, both of Buffalo; several nieces and nephews.

Ballou, Marguerite M. - Marguerite M. Ballou, 92, of Clifton Springs, died Mon., Dec. 11, 2000, at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Marguerite was born May 4, 1908 in Clifton Springs, the daughter of William and Grace Curran and served in the Army during World War II as a lieutenant in the Army Nursing Corps. She retired from Newark Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Felix Church. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery. She is survived by her brother, Donald (Alice) Curran of Palmyra. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold; parents, William and Grace Curran; sisters, Alice, Mildred and Bernice; and brothers, Roger, William, and Leo.

Torbitt, Robert J. Sr. - Robert J. Torbitt, Sr., 71, of Park Ave., Newark, died December 13, 2000 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Mr. Torbitt was born September 7, 1929 in Oswego, the son of Raymond and Dorothy Buske Torbitt. He was a 1952 graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Animal Husbandry. Bob had been manager of Margrove Dairy in Newark until its closing. He then became a production technician at Elmhurst Dairy in Prattsburg, NY and Johanna Dairy in Flemington, New Jersey retiring from there in 1996. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of the Bath Council Knights of Columbus. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Torbitt of Oswego; three sons, Terry of Newark, Mark of Syracuse, Robert Jr. of Duncan of Charlotte, NC, Johanna Torbitt of Canandaigua; three step-children, James Withey, Cathey Lane, Dawn Peck, all of Canandaigua; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Donald Sr. of Oswego, Raymond Jr. of Marathon, William of Oswego, Jack of Flemington, NJ, Lawrence of Pittsburgh, PA; two sisters, Barbara Torbitt of Canandaigua and Doreen Torbitt of Cortland; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father in 1984 and a son, Timothy in 1998.

Pearsall, Virginia (Featherly) - Virginia F. (Featherly) Pearsall, 84, of Sodus Point, died December 13, 2000. Interment in Alton Cemetery. Virginia is survived by her beloved husband, Winford Pearsall; children, Sharon (Dick) Neverless of Williamson, John (Janey) Featherly of Houston, TX, Pete (Beth) Featherly of Sodus, Pam (Wes) Rowe of Newark, Helmer Pearsall of Phoenix, AZ, Betty Briggs of Texas City, TX; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Waite of Alton; sister, Dorthea Featherly of Sodus; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Carl Featherly and son, Frank Featherly.

Doyle, Alma - Alma M. Doyle, 78, of Sodus died December 4, 2000. Mrs. Doyle was predeceased by her husband, John, and two sons, Joseph and David. She is survived by four children: Christine (Russell) Hasseler of Newark, Daniel (Cynthia) of Palmyra, Richard (Laura) of Gloucester, VA, Suzanne of Sodus; eight grandchildren. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery.

Kooman, Bertha - Bertha Kooman, 82, of Marion died November 29, 2000. Interment in Marion Cemetery. Bertha was predeceased by her husband, John. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Kooman of Webster; son, John (Ellen) Kooman of Lewisburg, TN; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild, all of TN.

Ketcham, Gerald - Gerald A. Ketcham, 61, died November 29, 2000. Gerald was born April 23, 1939 in Lyons, to Owen and Esther Strohm Ketcham. He was a veteran of the Army in peace time from 1957-1960. Esley, Marjorie - Majorie J. Esley, 96, of Walworth, died November 22, 2000. She was the daughter of Dr. Ernest and Mabel Esley of Walworth. She was the town physician fifty years ago. She was an illustrator and author of children's books published by the Golden Press. She is survived by nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces. Interment in the Walworth Cemetery.

Tietz, Janet - Janet L. Tietz, 52, of Phelps, died December 1, 2000, at Newark ViaHealth. Janet was born Feb. 27, 1948 in Newark, daughter of Horace and Adeline Fessenden. She was a former member of the Rochester Opera, the Rochester Oratorio Society, and the Finger Lakes Chorale. She performed in churches as a soloist and as a choir member. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Gene W. Tietz, of Phelps; daughter, Erika (Carlo) Ditucci of High Bridge, NJ; son, Ryan Tietz of Phelps; an uncle, niece and nephews. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery in Sodus.

Francisca was born April 2, 1922 in Naguabo, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Privado and Luisa Bazan Rivas. She had lived in Newark and Lyons. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by her husband Juan; three daughters, Millie 'Milagros,' and Jeanette and Elizabeth Hernandez, all of Lyons; three brothers, Alberto, Ramon and Carlos Rivas, all of Puerto Rico; two sisters, Monserrate Corteguera and Catalina Rivas of Puerto Rico; several nieces and nephews.

McFarlane, Homer - Homer J. 'Mac' McFarlane, 94, of Newark, died November 23, 2000 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Mac was born June 17, 1906 in Iowa, to Edward and Emma Ballard McFarlane. He retired from Bloomer Brothers as a lab technician. 'Mac' is survived by his son, Donald McFarlane of Aurora; daughter, Dolores McFarlane of Newark; three granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Gobeyn, Margaret - Margaret Gobeyn, 72, of Marion, died November 22, 2000. She is survived by husband, Morris 'Sam' Gobeyn; three daughters, Linda Gobeyn of Dundee, Nancy (Dennis) Lewis of Newark and Sharon (Norbert) Wilbur; son, Terry of Marion; five grandchildren; brother Carl (Rosalind) Mike of Florida; sisters, Violet O'Neal of Newark and Patricia (Roger) Dunlap, of Marion.

Morris, Virginia (Burrow) - Virgina Morris, 79, of Marion, died November 22, 2000. She was the widow of Donald E. Morris, and she was a retired Xerox employee. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia M. Cooke of Rochester and Anne M. (Dennis) Chopan of Marion; son, Donald (Nancy) Morris, of Corbin, KY.; and seven grandchildren.

Stryker, Phyllis - Phyllis Stryker, 72, of Marion, died November 22, 2000. Employed as a tax consultant, she was the widow of John Stryker. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Baker and Judith Stryker, and a son, Lawrence, all of Newark; and seven grandchildren.

Hermenet, Elizabeth - Elizabeth 'Liz' Hermenet, 85, of Newark/Marion, died November 28, 2000 at Via-Health Newark. Mrs. Hermenet was born May 3, 1913 in Newark, to Henry and Nellie DeCook Kotvis. She and her husband owned a farm on Minstead Road in Marion for 65 years. She was a devoted wife and mother and leaves many fond memories with her family. Mrs. Hermenet is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Michael Hermenet; son and daughter-in-law, Vern and Sandy Hermenet of Newark; daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Francis DeWind of Manchester; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Jake (Verna) Kotvis and Henry Kotvis, both of Fairville; sister, Sarah DeLyser of Newark; nieces and nephews; and special friend Kathy Polisse of Newark. Martino, Florence - Florence R. Martino, 86, died November 18, 2000 at ViaHealth of Wayne. Florence was born in Brooklyn, Aug. 6, 1914, the daughter of John and Mae Breslin Meeks. She had moved from New York City to live with her daughter in Newark. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Downey, Randall - Randall L. Downey, 61, of Highlands Ranch, CO, formerly of Newark, died November 2, 2000. Burial in Littleton Cemetery, Littleton, Colorado. Randall was born September 24, 1939 to Herbert and Ann (Rosier) Downey, and he spent most of his life in Newark. Randall served for many years as Congregational Ministerial overseer and Elder in Palmyra Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. His expertise was in sales, winning many trips to foreign countries. He eventually became a district sales manager and proprietor of two material handling companies. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janice Andrews, formerly of Newark; son, Randall of Highlands Ranch; daughters, Renee of Phoenix, Arizona and Chandra of Highlands Ranch; three grandchildren; parents, Herbert and Ann Downey of Newark; three sisters, Sharon (James) Prinzi of Newark, Linda (Bruce) Vanetten of Manchester, Beverly (Lawrence) Whelpton of Penniville, NY; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Randall was predeceased by his brother, Shelden Wayne Downey of Key Largo, FL on November 11, 1999.

Cowles, David - David G. Cowles, 53, of Canandaigua, died November 19, 2000, at the House of John in Clifton Springs. David was born and raised in Newark, graduating in 1965 from Newark High School. He graduated from State University College at Cortland in 1970 with a B.S. degree in education. He had taught biology at Victor High School from 1970 to the present. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and served on the Canandaigua Zoning Board of Appeals. He was a former member of the Canandaigua Board of Education and a former volunteer fireman in Cortland, Farmington and Manchester. He had coached the Victor High School Track Team and was a 'Weather Watcher' for Channel 10, Rochester. Interment in Calvary Cemetery in Canandaigua. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Zappia Cowles; daughter, Amy M. Cowles of Towson, MD; son, Jeffrey D. Cowles of Boulder, CO; four brothers, Thomas (Patricia) Cowles of Newark, James (Susan) Cowles of Anaheim, CA, John (Valerie) Cowles of Mendon, Michael (Darlene) Cowles of Walworth; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Zappia of Geneva; two brothers-in-law, John (Linda) Zappia of Canandaigua and Gerard (Judy) Zappia of Newark; Aunt June (Norris) Bleck of Florida; nieces, nephews and cousins. DeLork, Margaret - Margaret 'Maggie' DeLork, 88, died November 10, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Margaret was born Oct. 30, 1912 in Batavia, to Michael A. and Rosena Cotecchio Blandino. She was a past member of the Lyons American Legion Auxiliary and was employed for several years at the Sunshine Laundry and at the Bridge Tavern, both in Lyons. Interment, South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Anthony S. (Nancy) DeLork and Michael (Frances) DeLork; two grandsons, Anthony J. (Wendy) DeLork and Santo DeLork; great-grandson, Anthony John DeLork; brother-in-law, Peter DeLork; nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Santo, in 1960, by two brothers, James and Philip Blandino; and one sister, Belle DiRisio.

Fisher, George - George E. Fisher, 83, of Massachusetts, formerly of Newark, died October 2, 2000. George was born in the hamlet of Zurich, near Lyons, on Sept. 12, 1917 to William A. and Stella V. Coleman Fisher. Following his service in World War II, he moved in 1945 to Massachusetts.

Boerman, Ernest - Ernest Boerman, 84, of Marion, died November 11, 2000. He was a retired Kodak machinist. Interment in Marion Cemetery. He is survived by three daughters: Janette (Larry) Nevlezer of Marion, Nancy (Gerald) Duffner of Newark, and Eileen (Kenneth) Dykhuizen of Lyons; 11 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Frances VanGee.

VanParys, Gladys - Gladys M. VanParys, 83, of Newark and Clifton Springs, died November 11, 2000. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Phelps. She is survived by her children, Mary (Richard) Button of Palm City, FL, Dorothy (Robert) Hazell of Shortsville, and Charles (Connie) VanParys Jr. of Clifton Springs; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five siblings, Freda Shuelt, Mable (Jake) Yonnone, Lois Christian of Catskill, Gordon (Kay) Spaulding of Schenectady, Iva Siddel of Hunter; nieces and nephews. Storto, Gertrude - Gertrude L. Storto, 76, of Clyde, died November 10, 2000 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Gertrude was born on September 10, 1924 in Newark to Michael and Elizabeth Spade. She was a long-time resident of Clyde and a member of St. John's Church. Interment in St. John's Cemetery. Gertrude is survived by sons, Robert (Fay) Storto of Lyons and Daniel (Charlott) Storto of Savannah; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Raymond Spade of Newark and Clayton Spade of Charleston, SC; sister, Dorothy Dilco of Clyde; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Rocco A. Storto in 1986; son, Richard Storto in 1992; brother, Clarence Spade and sisters, Winnifred Goodrich and Clara Salansky.

Callagy, Kevin - Kevin W. Callagy, 49, of Lakeworth, FL and formerly of Newark, died unexpectedly at his Florida home. Kevin was born June 17, 1951 in Newark, to Edward and Helen Emerson Callagy. He was self-employed as a massage therapist. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua. He is survived by his friend, Diane Codello; uncles, Charles Emerson of Newark and Calvin Emerson of Greece, NY. He was predeceased by his father and mother on August 9, 1992 and January 22, 1993.

O'Connell, Robert - Robert T. (Bob) O'Connell, 83, died June 16, 2000, at Saint John's Medical Center, Joplin, Missouri from pneumonia. Bob was born July 9, 1917 in Newark to Robert and Mildred O'Connell. He married Joyce Delores Endert on April 25, 1942, in Cresent City, CA. Bob and Joyce raised their four children, Maureen, Paula, Katharine and Timothy, in San Rafael, CA. He made his life career as a mechanical engineer. In his earlier years, he was with the Civil Service in the Pacific during World War II. Later, he worked for Union Ice Company in Berkeley, CA and was responsible for designing the first refrigerated box cars. In the late 1960's, the O'Connells moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to work for American Airlines, where he revamped the materials handling department. After many years, he chose to retire to Oklahoma. Bob and Joyce enjoyed a home in Bernice, overlooking the Grand Lake o' the Cherokees. Mr. O'Connell was a 60-year member of the Newark Masonic Lodge #83 in Newark. He was owner and president of Custom Conveyor Company in Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Delores O'Connell; son, Tim O'Connell, of Navato, CA; two daughters, Paula O'Connell Mahan of Little Rock, AR and Katharine O'Connell Wiley of Hominy, OK; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and brother, Fred O'Connell of NC. He was predeceased by his oldest daughter, Maureen O'Connell Soltero in 1993.

Bornheimer, Irving - Irving A. Bornheimer, 89, of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Newark, died November 14, 2000. Mr. Bornheimer was born March 29, 1911 to Jessie and Mabel Warren Bornheimer in Alloway. He and his wife owned a dairy farm in Geneva, and then had a chicken farm in Newark. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church PCA in Rock Hill, SC. Interment, East Newark Cemetery. Irving is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Helen Behrens Bornheimer; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Beverly of Lyons, the Rev. Philip and Cheryl of Henrietta, and Mark and Patricia Bornheimer of North Carolina; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Bornheimer; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Richard in 1968, who gave his life while serving our country in Vietnam.

Ahrans, Frank T. - Frank Townsend Ahrans, 78, of Newark, died November 2, 2000 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Frank was born October 6, 1922 in Lyons to Albert and Eva Townsend Ahrans. He retired from the Newark Developmental Center in 1977. He was a past member of Lyons Presbyterian Church and current member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Newark. Frank was a member of the Newark VFW Post 2883 and the Lyons American Legion Post 227. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. The Army Flag flew at the funeral home in honor of Frank's service during WWII. Frank is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Allen Ahrans; his son, Jeffrey of Palmyra; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley (James) SanAngelo of Newark and Jeanna (Stephen) Buisch of Lyons; grandsons, Christopher (Evelyn) Buisch of Geneva, Sgt. Matthew (Mary) Buisch of Colorado and Jason Buisch of Lyons; great-grandsons, Benjamin and Jordan; his 102-year-old mother, Eva Ahrans of Lyons; brother, Donald (Esther) Ahrans of Newark; sister, Alberta (Robert) Sloan of Savannah; nieces and nephews.

Salerno, James J. - James J. Salerno, 77, formerly of Clyde, died October 31, 2000, at the Living Center of Geneva General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Salerno was born Jan. 8, 1923 in Syracuse to John and Rose Davis Salerno. He served in the Army during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific area. He retired from the Hallagan Manufacturing Co. of Newark after 35 years. James was an honorary member of the Clyde Fire Department with 44 years of active service. He was a member of the Clyde VFW Post 947 and a member of St. John Church. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. He is survived by son, James (Penny) Salerno of Pittsford; daughter, Dottie (Frank) Quinn of Lyons; three sisters, Phyllis Stawicki, Marie Holland and Margie Tomi, all of New Jersey; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Salerno in 1981; five brothers; and one sister.

Jinks, Nina - Nina Edna Jinks, 74, died Nov. 1, 2000. She was born July 3, 1926 in Newark to Peter and Ruth Drake Decker. She was raised by her Grandma Drake and worked at Seneca Foods for many years, retiring in 1999. She is survived by her children, Caryl (Stanley) Carne of Clyde, Jeffrey (Cathy) Jinks of Newark, Jackie (Fred) Dishaw of Newark, Judy Smith of Syracuse, and John Jinks of Newark; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two half-siblings, Peter (Bonnie) Decker and Kay (Angel) Fernandez both of Newark; several nieces and nephews and a beloved friend, Rosalie (Juan) Roman of Newark. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Jinks in 1996 and a sister, Edna Mae Briggs.

Hartnagel, Gertrude M. - Gertrude M. Hartnagel, 91, died Nov. 2, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Gertrude was born July 11, 1909 in Lyons, the daughter of John and Mary Schrader Henning. She graduated from Lyons High School and from the Macedon Teachers Training School and Rochester Business Institute, with a secretary's diploma. She taught in the rural school for two years in Newark. On Dec. 10, 1932, she married Albert Hartnagel. They were married for 56 years; Albert died on March 1, 1989. Gertrude and Albert were farmers on Stuart Road. She was a member of the Newark Grange, where she was a secretary for 31 years; also a member of the Wayne County Pomona Grange, and the State and National Grange. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by Helen Hartnagel of Newark, Dorothy Wiswell of Clyde, and Frieda and Glenn Hartnagel of Allen, Michigan; several nieces and nephews.

VanDuyne, Margaret L. - Margaret L. VanDuyne, 90, of Clyde and Newark, died November 4, 2000 at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Interment in South Butler Cemetery. Margaret is survived by sons, Merton Leroy (Marylou) VanDuyne of Golden, CO, Richard (Sandra) VanDuyne of Newark and David (Lillian) VanDuyne of Bridgewater, NY; daughters, Muriel (Velmer) Blondell of Arcadia, FL; Martha Clingerman of Walworth; Carol (Kenneth) Wolf of Apple Valley, CA; son-in-law Donald Simmons; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jansen, Peter - Peter J. Jansen, 90, of Marion, died November 4, 2000. Peter was a retired Garlock employee. Interment in Marion Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Hack Jansen; two sons, Ronald (Diane) of Mechanicsburg, PA and Richard (Donna) of Marion; five granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; sister, Sara DeCook of Canandaigua; sister-in-law, Hazel Jansen of Williamson; nieces and nephews.

DeCracker, Leslie - Leslie G. DeCracker, 83, of Lyons, died November 5, 2000, in Englewood, Florida. He was born in Marion to Glen and Sarah (Nortier) DeCracker. He lived in Lyons until his enlistment in the US Air Force during World War II. He served four years, mainly in the South Pacific area. A 32-year employee of General Motors, he resided in Rochester and Bloomfield Hills, MI. Upon retirement in 1975, he moved to Florida. Interment is in Englewood, FL. Mr. DeCracker is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan M. and Larry Ellison of Kalamazoo, MI, and his sister, Ella M. DeCracker of Newark.

Bitler, Mary - Mary M. Petty Bitler, 77, of Sodus, died November 7, 2000 at her home. Mary was the branch manager of Stanley Home Products for 40 years and a home health care provider. Interment in Furnaceville Cemetery, Ontario. Mary is survived by her husband, Forrester (Bud) Bitler; son, Terry (Miriam) Bitler of Newark; daughter, Loralee (Roy) Wilferth of Sodus; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Penny Petty of Williamson; nieces and nephews; aunt, Peg Pembroke of Marion.

Cornwell, Carl - Carl L. Cornwell, 73, of Waddington, died November 3, 2000, Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Mr. Cornwell was born Aug. 15, 1927 in Newark, NJ to Frederick J. and Genevieve Sullivan Cornwell. He was a Merchant Marine, and a carpenter employed by Carpenters Union Local 278 in Watertown, and an antiques dealer. He was also a union millwright and welder, working on bridges and on the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway. He married Marie Jane Viau on Aug. 4, 1951, at Notre Dame Church, Ogdensburg, with Monsignor A.D. Charbonneau officiating. Mrs. Cornwell died June 26, 1997. Mr. Cornwell was a member of the Newark American Legion and American Legion 420 in Waddington. Surviving are his stepmother, Beatrice Cornwell, Newark; four sons, Carl D. of AK, Leslie J. of FL, William J. of Ontario, and Michael T.; four daughters, Patricia Campbell of VA, Laura Walker of Ogdensburg, Elizabeth Landers of NC, and Jennifer Cornwell; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Fred of Newark; sister, Betty Harbinger, Newark; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, James.

Vanderlyke, Herbert - Herbert Vanderlyke, 83, of Newark/Palmyra, died October 26, 2000. Interment is in South Lyons Cemetery. He was born May 7, 1917 in Walworth to Herbert and Elizabeth Fremouw Vanderlyke. He was a millwright at Garlock Inc. in Palmyra, where he was employed for 24 years, retiring in 1981. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre of Operations during World War II. He is survived by two sons, Herbert M. (Michele) of Lyons and Michael (Karen-sue) of Palmyra; four grandchildren, Brandy, Herbert M. Jr. (Mackenzie), Amy and Michael Jr.; one great-grandson, Herbert M. III; two brothers, Harold and Howard (Mildred) of Lyons; three sisters, Marie Feiock of Rochester, Margaret (Robert) Brown of Chapin, Elizabeth Eckert of Lyons, a sister-in-law, Doris Cunningham of Newark; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice in 1998; brothers, Peter and Ernest, and sisters, Elsie Van Houte and Susie Kommer.

Govener, Helen - Helen A. Govener, 95, of Wolcott, died October 28, 2000 in Oswego. She was a long-time resident of Wolcott, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and an office manger of Govener Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick in Wolcott. Interment in Glenside Cemetery in Wolcott. She is survived by children: Pauline (Bill) Fleig of San Jose, CA, Lloyd (Jessica Lynn) Govener and Barbara Govener Arthur all of Wolcott; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1997.

Hamelinck, August - August 'Gus' Hamelinck, 91, of Newark, died October 27, 2000, at the Caring House of Grande Vie Home for Adults in Penfield. Mr. Hamelinck was born Sept. 15 1909, in Holland, the son of John and Emma Ritco Hamelinck. He was a lithographer for Bloomer Bros., retiring in 1974. Gus was a communicant of St. Michael Church, where he had been an usher for many years. He was a member of the Newark Council 897 of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Deluge Hose Company of the Newark Fire Department. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Inez Zomeri Hamelinck; daughter, Elizabeth 'Betty' (Frank) Colasurdo of Newark; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Thomas, James and Ann Marie; five great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha Claeys of Newark; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph in 1984; and four brothers, Willard in 1989, Bert, Thomas, and Jacob in 1999.

Munson, Virginia - E. Virginia Munson, 89, of Newark, died October 28, 2000, at Highland Hospital in Rochester. Mrs. Munson was born Sept. 11, 1911 in Stanley, the daughter of Owen and Edith Preston Melious. She was a 1932 graduate of Cornell University and had taught home economics for over 35 years, many of these years at Newark High School where she retired in 1973. She belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma and the Coterie Club, and the Wayne County Retired Teacher's Association. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, its Women's Association and the Miriam Circle. She enjoyed working on sewing projects with the Newark Senior Citizens. Interment be in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Denise Munson; two grandchildren, Richard and Virginia Munson all of Walworth; her brother, Richard (Mary) Melious of Stanley; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Frank E. in 1961; two brothers, Preston and Horace Melious; three sisters, Anita West, Bernice Lane, and May Washburn.

Koehler, Marion - Marion C. Koehler, 99, of Newark/New Port Richey, Floridia, a resident of the DeMay Living Center, since 1995, died October 26, 2000. Interment will be in Bay Pine National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, FL. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Meyer of Wolcott; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two nieces in Michigan. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin C. Koehler in 1962.

Salerno, Helen - Helen F. Salerno, 87, of Clyde, died October 28, 2000. The life-long resident of Clyde was the daughter of Joseph and Philomena Fratangelo. She was employed for many years at the LaCantina Restaurant in Lyons and was a communicant of St. John's Catholic Church. Interment in St. John's Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Angela (Mike) Petrus of Clyde and Marica Salerno of Laurel, Maryland; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased Jan. 10, 1992 by her husband, Bernard; also by three brothers and two sisters.

Meade, Clinton - Clinton W. Meade, 85, of Clyde, died October 29, 2000 at the DeMay Living Center, following an extended illness. Mr. Meade was born Nov. 12, 1914 in Clyde, the son of Gilbert W. and Lena May Jenkins Meade. He owned and operated Meade Machine Co. Inc. of Clyde for many years. He was a race car enthusiast and was the owner and builder of Car 1, which was the Waterloo Race Track Champion car in the late 1950's. Interment in Rose Cemetery. He is survived by his two sons, Clinton G. (Betsy) Meade of North Rose and Richard L. Meade of Seneca Falls; two stepsons, Robert (Grace) Krueger of Newark and James (Barb) Krueger of Newark; two stepdaughters, Linda Bray of Newark and Betty Ann (Joseph) Bramer of Clyde; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Barbara Ireland of Rochester, Clara Lois Meade of Rochester and Janet Kursten of Henrietta; nieces and nephews. His wife, Mabel Kaiser Meade, predeceased him on January 15, 2000.

Driscoll, John - John 'Jack' Driscoll, 76, of Clifton Springs, died October 31, 2000. Jack was born Feb. 1, 1924 in Clifton Springs, the son of John and Margaret Driscoll and had lived in the area all his life. He graduated from Clifton Springs High School and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He later worked for the Ontario National Bank, C. H. Stuart Enterprises of Newark and had retired from Palmer's Food and Restaurant Distributors in Newark. He was a member of St. Felix Church, the Phelps American Legion, and the Clifton Springs VFW. Interment al will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Clifton Springs. He is survived by sons, Daniel Driscoll of Glens Falls and John (Kathryn) Driscoll of Sun Valley, Idaho; four grandchildren; sister, Jean (Richard) Turner of Florida; niece and nephew, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine, in 1999.

Pieters, Walter R. - Walter R. Pieters, 91, of Newark, died October 19, 2000 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mr. Pieters was born the son of Abraham and Anna Vandenbout Pieters on April 2, 1909 in Rochester, New York. He was a member of the Arcadia Reformed Church, where he served as an Elder for many years. He was also the treasurer during the church's construction at its present location. Mr. Pieters was a member of the Newark Rotary Club and the Newark Volunteer Fire Department, Excelsior Hook & Ladder Company #4. Interment at East Palmyra Cemetery. Mr. Pieters is survived by his loving wife, Ida DeVries Pieters; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald arid Peggy Pieters of Arizona and Leslie and Elizabeth Pieters of Webster; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Bosje of East Palmyra; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

Bombard, Marie T. - Marie T. Bombard, 72, of Sodus, died October 21, 2000 after a long illness at Highland Hospital, Rochester. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. She is survived by her children, James (Nancy) and Linda Lawson, all of Sodus, Shirley (James) Farley of Ontario, Gerald (Diane) of Georgia, Janet (Ronald) Guntrum and Sandra (Earl) Jesmer, both of Sodus, Jackie (Manuel) Reyes of Newark; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and numerous relatives in France. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest in 1995.

VanCleef, Eleanor L. - Eleanor Louise VanCleef, 85, of Newark, died suddenly October 23, 2000 at Via Health of Wayne Newark Campus. Mrs. VanCleef was bom the daughter of Martin and Hazel Bennett on December 4, 1914 in Geneva, New York. She worked at Comstock Foods as a packer and for the Home Dairy Restaurant as a cook. She was a devoted wife and mother. Interment will follow at the Sand Hill Cemetery. Mrs. VanCleef is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Updyke of Seneca Falls; sons, Gail (Linda) VanCleef of Newark, William (Judy) VanCleef of Florida and Clinton VanCleef of Newark; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary VanCleef of Seneca Falls and Millie Campbell of Lyons; brother, Frank Bennett of East Seneca Falls; daughter-in-law, Sharon VanCleef of Clifton Springs; son-in-law, Duane Kline of Newark; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. VanCleef was predeceased by her husband, William, in 1983; daughter, Diane Kline, in 1999; her son, Martin, in September of 2000; and her son-in-law, Paul Updyke, in 1991.

De Bout, Paul L. - Paul L. De Bout, 89, of Newark, died October 23, 2000 at the DeMay Living Center. Mr. De Bout was born August 8, 1911 in Newark, the son of Kamiel and Eliza Lohman De Bout. He was a machinist in the Tool and Die Department at Garlock Inc. in Palmyra, where he worked for 31 years, retiring in 1970. Paul had been an active member of the Arcadia Senior Citizens. Interment in the Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanette DeWispelaere DeBout; two daughters, Joan (Lloyd) Knapp of Palmyra and Marlene (Wayne) Williams of Newark; five grandchildren, Todd (Tami) Knapp, Scott Knapp, Amy Knapp, Andre (Christopher) Cornett and Christine Williams; five great-grandchildren, Alissa, Cassandra, Evan, Alexander and Ashley; a sister, Elnora Childress of Plantation, FL; several nieces and nephews.

Sergisson, Tad L. - Tad L. Sergisson, 83, of Newark, died October 24, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. Mr. Sergisson was born February 18, 1917 in Newark, the son of George and Dora Frech Sergisson. He was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. He was a retired printer and had worked at several print shops in Rochester. Interment will be in Wast Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his son, Robert of Rochester, two granddaughters, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his wives, Kathleen in 1966, and Mariam in 1981; his daughter, Rebecca Henninger in 1995; and brother, Charles in 1988.

East, Helen - Helen R. East of Marion died October 14, 2000 in Newark. Interment in River View Cemetery, Clifton Springs. She is survived by her husband, Raymond; four children, Gary (Frances) East of Newark, Debbie (Larry) Ferguson of Marion, David (Suzette) East of Marion and Julie (Brad) Wing of Marion; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald (Lee) Atwood of Rochester and Robert (Ann) Atwood of Manchester; and Jeanne Mason of Canandaigua.

Spross, Richard C. - Richard C. Spross, 83, of Sodus died October 14, 2000. Interment in Fairville Cemetery. He is survived by wife, Evelyn; three children, Elaine, Charles and Edward (Huisun), all of Sodus; several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

DeTaeye, Charles - Charles C. DeTaeye, 74, of Newark, died October 12, 2000 in Bradford, PA. Charles was born July 1, 1926 in Savannah, the son of Edmond and Susie Dingman DeTaeye. He had been a bus driver and a self-employed furniture refinisher. He was a member of the VFW in Bradford, having served in the Army in World War II; he was in the Philippine Campaign and was awarded the Silver Star. Interment at Whitney Cemetery in Seneca Castle. He is survived by four sons, John, Charles Jr. (Christine), David (Sandy) and Gary of Newark; two daughters, Sheila (Kurt) Siler and Barbara of Newark; sister, Lorraine Fagner of Palmyra; several grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabelle.

Reeves, Carl R. - Carl R. 'Butch' Reeves, 58, of Sodus, died Oct. 13, 2000 at his home. Mr. Reeves was born Dec. 8, 1941 in Newark to Carl A. and Mary Cornell Reeves. Butch drove truck for more than 30 years and had been working for Superior Trucking in Port Gibson. He served with the U. S. Army from 1959-63, stationed in Germany the majority of that time. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. He is survived by his daughters, Jeannette (Christopher) McMullen of Palmyra and Mazy (John) Marsh of Coudersport, PA; four grandchildren; his stepmother, Winifred Reeves of Louisville, KY; brother, Richard of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; and sister, Darlene (Dennis) Frymark of Waco, Texas. He was predeceased by his wife, Brigitte, in 1981, and a sister, Carol Tantalo in 1998.

Haak, Mildred - Mildred C. (Nortier) Haak, of Marion, died October 12, 2000 at the Pines of Peace Home in Ontario, after a short illness. Mildred worked on the family farm with her husband, Melvin, then went to Seneca Food Can Plant, followed by a few years at Sarah Coventry. After she retired, she enjoyed traveling and her family. She was secretary for the Walworth Senior Citizens. Interment in the Marion Cemetery. Mildred is survived by two daughters, Joan (Harvey) Shaulis and Jane O'Connor; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, William 'Roy' (Doris) Nortier; sisters-in-law, Edna and Doris Nortier; brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. She as predeceased by her husband Melvin, and brothers, Robert, Lester 'Bud,' Clifford and Arthur Nortier; sister-in-law, Bernice Nortier; grandson, Daniel Shaulis.

VanWaes, George - George VanWaes, 49, of Canandaigua, died October 3, 2000, at Strong Memorial Hospital. George served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 3rd Marine Division and was recipient of two Purple Hearts. At the time of his death, he was commander of American Legion Post #256 in Canandaigua, commander of the Canandaigua Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4, and Ontario County vice commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion, the 40 & 8, the Marine Corps League and the Trench Rats. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canandaigua. Survivors include his wife, Charlene (Boylan) VanWaes of Canandaigua; daughter, Jennifer VanWaes of Cortland; stepson, Edward VanWaes, of Cortland; parents, Richard and Dorothy VanWaes of Newark; sister, Deborah (James) Ruffalo, of Newark; brother, Duane (Kathy) VanWaes of Texas; stepchildren, Christy (Stephen) Reubens and Ronnie (Mark) Perrin; seven grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Terry Boylan of Naples, and Jack Boylan of Canandaigua. He was predeceased by his sister, Darlene Gearhart.

Moens, Eunice M. - Eunice Mary Moens, 82, of Lea Drive, died October 17, 2000, at her home. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Mrs. Moens is survived by her sons, Paul (Anna) Moens and David Moens, both of Newark; and grandson Gregory and his fiancee, Kim Dandino. Eunice was predeceased by her husband Raymond J. Moens in 1986.

Brown, Lillian - Lillian E. Brown, 86, of Lincoln Road, Newark, died October 18, 2000 at Clifton Springs Hospital. She was born March 25, 1914 to Martin and Elise Martin Malbone in Wilmington, NY. She retired from the Newark Developmental Center, where she worked for 25 years as a ward attendant. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Church of The Nazarene in Wilmington. Interment will follow at Rose Cemetery. She is survived by her son Donald (Peggy) Brown of Newark; four daughters, Betty (Gary) Niles of Waterloo, Helen (Roger) Pierce of Newark, Donna Garrison of Seneca Falls, Shirley Brown of Canandaigua; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel McKinney of Alton, Natalie McKinney of Newark, Mary (Fred) Wright of Phelps; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Brown, former Newark Chief of Police, on October 15, 1979.

Simmons, Christopher - Christopher D. Simmons, 16, of East Palmyra, died October 6, 2000, at Newark ViaHealth following an accident. Christopher was born Aug. 19, 1984 in Watertown, the son of Duane A. and Barbara Gregory Simmons. The family moved to East Palmyra in November of 1989. He was a sophomore at Newark High School and enjoyed baseball, volleyball and swimming, while a student at the high school. Interment in the Smithville Cemetery. He is survived by his parents, and a brother, Jimmy A. at home; maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Janice Gregory of Calcium; paternal grandmother, Sylvia Simmons of Belleville; several aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by a sister, Christina Simmons. 

DeMott, Philip - Philip A. DeMott, 71, of Newark, died October 4, 2000 in Rochester. Phil was born Sept. 23, 1929 in Newark, to Philip and Alice Dale DeMott. He worked in retail and was the manager of Buck's Clothing Store for 17 years. He was also the manager of Dru Stationery in Newark, and he did wedding photography and sign painting. He was a member of the American Legion of Newark and a Korean Conflict Army veteran; he was a member of the Korean Veterans of Waterloo. Interment in Riverview Cemetery in Phelps. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan Wilcox DeMott; three sons, Larry (Debra) of Geneva, Bill (Sue) of Oswego and Steven (Dawn) of Canandaigua; five grandchildren; brother, James of Newark; sister, Mary DeMott of Newark; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, George and Michael. 

Clark, Mildred - Mildred VanAuken Clark, 79, of Newark/Port Gibson, died October 5, 2000 at Via Health of Newark. Mildred was born November 29, 1920 to Merton and Gladys Ketchum VanAuken, in Newark. She retired from the Newark Developmental Center where she worked as an attendant. Mrs. Clark was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newark. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Mrs. Clark is survived by her husband of 55 years, Alden Clark; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Diane Clark of Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Louis Hirth of Arizona; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Clark was predeceased by her sons, Jeffery in 1949, and Brett in 1961. Her brother Gordon W. VanAuken died in 1999. 

Hazel M. Santelli - Hazel M. Santelli, 76, of Big Rapids, Michigan, formerly of Lyons, died October 6, 2000. Mrs. Santelli was born in St. Marie, Idaho, on Feb. 25,1924, a daughter to Stephen and Hazel Packard Ormord. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, and at that time married Michael Santelli. She was employed as a social worker for 40 years at Newark Developmental Center. She was a member of the Lyons American Legion Post 227 and St. Michael's Church in Lyons. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Santelli of Virginia; Stephen (Debbie) Santelli of North Carolina; Susan (Thomas) Nyman of Webster; Kathleen (Thomas) Horan of Michigan; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Fairholm of California, Flora Behner of Montana, and Edith Feucht of Tennessee. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in 1984; son, Charles; and four brothers. 

Kemp, Vivian - Vivian J. Kemp, 57, of Lyons, died October 4, 2000 at ViaHealth of Wayne. Vivian was born Jan. 7, 1943, in Wadley, Georgia, to John and Ola Mae Levitt Adams. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lyons. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Carzell Sr.; one daughter, Towanda (Randolph) Scott of Lyons; five sons, Carzell Jr. (Kathy) of Syracuse, James (Brenda) of Junius, Samuel of Newark, Isaac (Lisa) of Jacksonville, NC and Joseph of Lyons; her mother, Ola Mae Adams of Wadley, GA; sister, Caroline Woods of Tampa, FL; four brothers, Johnnie Jean Adams of Buffalo, Sonny Adams of Macon, GA, Ronnie Adams of Kentucky and Ricky Adams of Wadley, GA; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Bliek, Adrian - Adrian "Ed" Bliek, 89, of Newark, died October 9, 2000. He was a former caretaker of Forman Park. Interment in Marion Cemetery. He is survived by his son, Ronald (Elaine) Bliek of Marion; three grandchildren: Ronnie, Fairport; Michael (Dulce) and Tracy (John) Pagliuso, Marion; brother, Levinus (Betty) Bliek, Marion. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary. 

Barclay, Frederick - Frederick J. Barclay, 90, of Lyons, died October 1, 2000 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Fred was born Jan. 1, 1910, in Lyons to Gavitt and Gertrude Schlee Barclay. He retired in 1975 from the National Biscuit Co. He lived in Tonawanda for 27 years and was a 60-year resident of Lyons. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and was a life member of Lyons Elks Lodge 869. Interment in Lyons Rural Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Hall; two daughters, Linda (James O'Brien) Kelley of Stanley and Judy (Ed) Bradley of Durham, NC; one son, Ian (Kathy) of Marion; six grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; nieces and nephews.
