Colacino, Theresa - Theresa M. Colacino, 92, of Newark, died September 29, 2002. Theresa was a lifelong member of St. Michael Church in Newark and a longtime member and secretary for the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She was a member of CSEA and the Retired Public Employees, the American Association of Retired Persons, the NYS Public Employees Federation, the Senior Citizens Action Council; the Wayne County Historical Society, the Disabled Veterans Association Auxiliary and the Top of the Hill Retirement Club. She was also a member of the Legion of Mary, the Altar & Rosary Society and the Sacred Heart Mission Club. Theresa wrote the family history of Colacino-Ross family, wrote the history of St. Michael Church and put together United States at War 1917-75 of Newark, Port Gibson and Marion. For over 40 years, she knitted and sewed many articles for the St. Michael Bazaar. She had lived for 83 years in the same Newark house. She traveled extensively on one trip to New York City, going to a game at Yankee Stadium and getting autographs of Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth and Leo Durocher. She is survived by her brother, Albert Colacino of Newark; niece, Elaine (James) Quinn of Sodus Point; nephew, Richard (Joann) DeFabio; four great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Gregory and Mary Ross Colacino; her sister, Margaret DeFabio; and brothers, Charles, Thomas and Joseph Colacino.

Thomas, Alice - Alice Swanson Thomas, of Newark, formerly of Syracuse, died September 28, 2002 in Newark. She is survived by a son, Victor W. Thomas of Newark. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank M. Thomas, who died in 1978. Interment is in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.

Reynolds, Charlotte - Charlotte Q. Reynolds, 85, of Newark, died September 24, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Leon Reynolds; sister Esther Whalen; sister-in-law, Arlene Worden; nieces and nephews. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

Zeger, George - George L. Zeger, 82, of Phelps, died September 27, 2002. George was born April 6, 1920, in Phelps, the son of August and Minnie Zeger, and had lived in the area all of his life. He owned and operated his own dairy farm for more than 50 years. He was a member of Farm Bureau and had been a member of various dairy farm associations. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. George is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis; son, Lawrence (Patricia) Zeger of Phelps; sister, Virginia (Raymond) Price of Newark; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his son, John, in 1998.

Eckert, Elizabeth R. - 74, of Newark, died September 24, 2002 at Rochester General Hospital. Mrs. Eckert was born May 5, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA, to Charles and Doris (Beard) Ridley. Mrs. Eckert had worked for the Board of Elections for over 20 years, Fay's Drugs for 15 years, and for Newark Stationery. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Newark. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Eckert of Georgia; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Sherry Eckert of Webster; three grandchildren; a brother Floyd (Eleanor) Ridley of Phelps; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Truman F. Eckert on August 5, 1987. Interment is in East Palmyra Cemetery.

Petitti, Michael J. - 86, of Newark, died Sept. 19, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. He was born Nov. 30, 1915, in Lyons, to Ignazio and Angelina Sagesse Petitti. He drove tractor trailer for Ruffalo and Santino Trucking in Newark, and for Johnson Trucking in Port Gibson. He is survived by his daughter, Judy (Bela) Szilagyi, of Newark; one grandson, Michael Szilagyi; three sisters - Margaret Bonacci of Waterloo, Pauline Hilfiker and Pat Marsa of Lyons; a brother, Samuel of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased March 2, 2002 by his wife, Louise Buttaccio Petitti.

Curry, Evelyn E. - 68, of Newark, died September 21, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic Extended Care Unit. Evelyn was born July 11, 1934 in Geneva, to Harvey J. and Ruth Evelyn VanNostrand Eggleton. She is survived by her son, Jason Curry of Newark; sister, Barbara L. Clark of Phelps; brothers, James R. (Nellie) Eggleton of Fulton, Harvey A. (Janet) Eggleton of Raleigh-Durham, NC, Gary T. (Anne) Eggleton of Alabama, and Barry D. Eggleton of Alabama; nieces and nephews.

Schinsing, Doris 'Betty' - 77, of Lyons, died September 22, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. She was born August 11, 1925 in Wilmington, Delaware to Edwin and Margaret Caudler Lawton. She worked at Newark Developmental Center, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Newark. She is survived her sons, Edwin C. (Judy) of Newark and David (Sheri) of Marion; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; sister Dorothy (Michael) Rossi of Melbourne, FL; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1985 and a sister Alta Jane Withey in 1995.

Decker, Alice V. - 82, died September 20, 2002 in Lakeland, FL. She is survived by her husband Bernard J. Decker of Lakeland; daughter Elaine (James) Hartnagel; son Gary (Sandie) Decker; brother Albert R. Pierce of Michigan; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her great-grandson Curtis Rizzo.

Bond, Winona Jane - 88, of Sodus, died September 19, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard; two sons, Randy (Carol) Bond of Webster, Richard 'Rick' (Holley) Bond of Sodus; four grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Sawyer of Williamson; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Robin.

Radley, Erwin Gregory - 83, of Argyle, formerly of Marion, died September 14, 2002. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Lula (Ferris) Radley; three brothers, Vaughn, Roger and Dean Radley; a sister, Dr. Virginia L. Radley. He is survived by his companion, Albert R. Fromberger of Argyle; niece, Jean Elmer Radley of Seattle, and other relatives.

Hardison, Hazel (Farnsworth) - 75, formerly of Port Gibson, died Sept. 22, 2002 in New Bern, NC. She was born November 9, 1926 in Newark, to Daniel R. and Helen Harding Farnsworth. She worked for Garlock Inc. in Palmyra before becoming Postmaster at the Port Gibson Post Office. After moving to North Carolina, she operated Hazel's Sportswear and Oaktree Antique Shop. She was a member of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Burl Dugid Hardison of New Bern, NC; her father Daniel Farnsworth of Clifton Springs; brother Duane (Barbara) Farnsworth of Newark; stepson Terry Hardison of Wisconsin; sister-in-law Miriam Farnsworth of Ovid. She was predeceased by her mother Helen, and her brother, Wesley Farnsworth.

Slagle, Charles Peter - 65, died at his home in Canandaigua on September 20, 2002. Charlie was the son of John and Doris Stryker Slagle; he was born November 12, 1936 in Auburn. Charlie is survived by his sisters, Nancy (Jack) Hockenberry of Minnesota, and Susan (Thomas) Young of Texas; several nieces, nephews; and friends at Finger Lakes DDSO.

Bushart, Stanley - Stanley L. Bushart, 85, of Marion, died September 18, 2002. He was a member of the Second Reformed Church, Marion Masonic Lodge, and Lincoln Grange. He had 15 years and more than 3000 hours in as a volunteer at the Canandaigua Veterans Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Isabelle; children, Karen (Geoff) Hayden, Carmen (Beth) Bushart, David (Karen) Marsh, Ruth (Ted) Townson, Warren (Barb) Bushart, Kevin (Kim) Bushart; brother, Joe; sisters-in-law Mary A. Bushart, Mary H. Bushart, Caroline Bushart, Peg Pembroke; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Interment in Marion Cemetery.

Dewey, Edgar - Edgar J. Dewey, 72, of Marion died September 12, 2002. Edgar served in the Korean conflict from 1952-55. He is a retiree from Meli Bros. in Rochester, where he was a master mechanic. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Jeanne (Genthner) Dewey and son William (Tammy) Dewey of Port Gibson, and three grandchildren.

Dayton, Grace - Grace E. Dayton, 93, of Williamson, died September 11, 2002. She is survived by her son, Donald (Sandra) Dayton of Phelps; daughters, Lorraine Piccolo of Greeley, CO and Dalaine 'Jo' Dayton of Williamson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother, William Holland of Gouveneur; several nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Daniel and daughter, Kitty Crum.

Eiseman, George - George Edward 'Ed' Eiseman W2SPQ, 83, of Williamson, died September 11, 2002. He was born April 21, 1919 to George Eiseman, Sr. and Katherine (Vandermillen). He was a WWII Veteran, a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Army, taking part in the Normandy Invasion. He was awarded a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Belgian Croix de Guerre with Palm. He is survived by his wife Betty (Richardson); three sons: Richard (Bette) of Wexford, PA, Donald of Williamson, and Larry of Pasadena, MD; four daughters: Margaret (Nate) Welch of Rochester, Laura (Darrel) Freeman of Atkins, AR, Mary (Kevin) Maltzahn of Webster, and Sara (Scott) Palmer of North Rose; one sister, Norma Walkley of Webster; 11 grandchildren; one niece, Katherine (Davis) Kane of Rochester; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Warren in 1982. He worked 24 years at Stromberg Carlson and General Dynamics; he retired in 1984 after 13 years at Xerox.

Jones, Kermit - Kermit Frederick Jones, Jr., 65, of Candler, NC, died August 31, 2002 after a long and brave battle with heart disease. Kermit was born Feb. 8, 1937 in Ontario County, New York. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving from 1954-1957. He was the son of Harriet Hamelinck Jones Wemesfelder and the late Kermit F. Jones, Sr. He is survived by his mother; wife, Bonnie F. Jones; children, Jacqueline Evans of Vero Beach, FL; Kermit Jones, III and wife, Susan of Las Vegas; Katharine Benton of Asheville, NC; and Vicky Jacobsen and husband, Martin of Leicester, NC; four grandchildren; sister, Nancy (John) Quinn; step-brother, Bill Wemesfelder, Jr. of Marion; cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Clingerman, Richard - Richard Clarence Clingerman, 67, of North Rose, died September 13, 2002 after a long illness. Mr. Clingerman was born Dec. 25, 1934, in Brockport, the son of Clarence and Shelia Seager Clingerman. He retired in 1998 as project superintendent of Venture Construction Co. in Greensboro, NC. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Barbara Hazeltine Clingerman; two daughters, Debra Reynolds of Auburn and Terri (Mark Hackett) Clingerman of Batavia; three sons, Clarence Dale Clingerman of Newark, Todd Clingerman of Aurora, CO and Eric Clingerman of Plymouth, MA; four grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Janet) Clingerman of North Rose; three aunts, Pearle Seager of North Rose, Necia DeRue of Canandaigua and Dorothy Lasher of Spring Hill, FL; his mother-in-law, Virginia Hazeltine of Newark; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Clingerman of Aurora, Colo., Mary (Charles) Clark of Port Byron and Cynthia Hazeltine of Jordan; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Carl K. Clingerman and Frederick M. Clingerman.

Warren, Alfred - Alfred B. Warren Jr., 79, of Lyons died September 13, 2002 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Al was born in Glen Cove on April 27, 1923. He was a 1949 graduate of Cornell University, where he earned his degree in Business Administration. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a Second Lieutenant. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred B. Warren Sr. and Belle Steiert Warren. He is survived by his wife, June (Keith) Warren; daughter, Valerie (Richard) Wheaton of Newark; son Alfred B. (Shirley) Warren of Savannah; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Caroline Lane and Jeanette (Guy) Eason; a brother-in-law, James (Linda) Keith. Interment in the Rose Cemetery.

DeLork, Michael - Michael A. DeLork, 62, of Lyons, died September 14, 2002 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and was faithful communicant of his church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Newark. Michael was born Oct. 30, 1939 in Lyons, to Santo and Margaret Blandino DeLork. He was the past foreman of the Water Department for the Village of Lyons. He was a member of the American War Dads of Lyons, and was past secretary and a member of the Lyons Fire Department Hose Co. No. 5. He is survived by his wife Frances; son, Santo (Johnna) DeLork of Lyons, foster son James Custer and other foster children; two grandchildren; brother. Anthony (Nancy) DeLork of Lyons; nephews, Anthony (Wendy) DeLork of Lyons and Steven; niece, Eileen; great-nephew Anthony DeLork III of Lyons, and many special friends.

Butera, John M. - John M. Butera, 54, died September 4, 2002 at Rochester General Hospital. John was born October 12, 1947 in Rochester, the son of Sam and Stella Fantuzzo Butera. A Certified Public Accountant, he was the managing partner of Butera, Sinicropi & Healy, LLP in Newark.

He was a member of Park Presbyterian Church, where he had been a Deacon and the church treasurer. For many years, he had been the treasurer of the Newark Rotary and served as its President the 2000-01 year. He was vice chairman of the Via Health of Wayne Foundation. He had served on the board and was treasurer of Via Health of Wayne and was a member of Via Health finance committee in Rochester. Mr. Butera was on the advisory board of Chase Lincoln Bank and a member of the board of the Wayne County ARC. He was a member of the Newark Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; daughter, Stacie (Burt) Kem of Victor, and grandchildren, Bailey and Allison; his mother, Stella Butera; sisters, Carol (William) Weilert, Donna (Michael) Grace, and Dianne (Joseph) Albert, all of Rochester; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edith and Thomas Coon, sister-in-law Gwen Mix of Newark; nieces and nephews. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

Spafford, Carolyn - Carolyn M. Spafford, 70, a retired Newark Central School District teacher, died Sept. 2, 2002 in Tacoma, Washington, after a brief illness. Carolyn was born May 25, 1932 in Geneva, daughter of Everest and Pauline Cole. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1950. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton in 1954, and a Master of Arts degree from Syracuse University in 1956. She went to Albuquerque, New Mexico to start a teaching career and met her future husband, John Spafford, who was in the Army. Carolyn and John married in 1959 in Geneva and settled in Newark to raise a family. They both became teachers in the Newark School District. Carolyn taught sixth grade for many years at the Junior High on West Miller St. before teaching at Kelley School. She retired from teaching in 1990 and spent her winters in Winter Haven, Florida before moving there full time in 1997. She was predeceased by her husband, John.

She is survived by two sons, John (Karen) of Tacoma, WA, and Jeffrey (Amy) of Windermere, FL; one daughter, Melissa (Michael) Schreiber of Sacramento, CA; and five grandchildren. Interment in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Warners, NY.

Maugiri, Diane - Diane M. Maugiri, 46, of Newark, died Sept. 9, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. Diane was born Jan. 18,1956, in Newark, the daughter of Anthony and Margaret Logosh Maugiri. Her entire life was devoted to helping children, migrants and her beloved animals. She was a teacher, and she worked in day care for Rural Opportunities in Alton. She was a member of St. Michael Church. She is survived by her sister, Susan (Robert) Bunce of Newark; brothers, Donald (Eleanor) Maugiri of Newark and Anthony (Carol) Maugiri of Longview, Texas; nieces and nephews, Thomas and Katherine DeYulio, Daniel Winkler, Christina, Michelle, Donald Jr. and Nicole Maugiri, Robert Weston, Melissa (William) Brown and Shawn Steddum; aunts, cousins and many special friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Anthony.

Wiltsie, Joyce - Joyce Anne Wiltsie, 67, of Newark, died suddenly at her home on September 9, 2002. Joyce was born June 11, 1935 in Huron, to Elmer and Blanche (Davis) Veley. She attended North Rose-Wolcott Schools. Joyce had worked at Wegmans in Newark as the Dairy Manager, and then at Newark Developmental Center, where she retired after 17 years of service. Joyce enjoyed reading, traveling and camping. She is survived by her daughter Laura Lawson and her friend Mike of Clifton Springs; sons Terry (Sue) of Lyons, Robert and his friend Kelly and Scott (Kelly) Wiltsie both of Florida; seven grandchildren; her friends Betty Smith of Phelps and Alice Colasurdo of Clyde; many nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her friend William Erb in 1996; brother Stanley Veley in 2000; sisters Jean Marie Veley in 1934 and Doris Schultz in 1984. Interment at Newark Cemetery.

Beal, Dorothy - Dorothy Esther Beal, 82, of Newark, died September 10, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. Mrs. Beal was born July 30, 1920 in Newark to William and Grace (Farnsworth) Chamberlin. She worked for Sarah Coventry for several years, and with her husband as a hairdresser at Lester's Beauty Salon in Newark. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newark and enjoyed collecting antiques. Mrs. Beal is survived by her husband, Lester 'Pete' Beal; son and daughter-in-law, David and Candice Beal of CT; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Roxanne Beal in 1963, and by three brothers and three sisters. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

Oliver, Kimberly - Kimberly Eddington Oliver, 44, of Clifton Springs, died Sept. 3, 2002 at Rochester General Hospital. Kimberly was born Feb. 18, 1958, in Geneva, the daughter of Nathan R. Walker and Dorothy Pratt Chylaszek. She returned to Clifton Springs from California two years ago, and was working for Warfield's in Clifton Springs. Kimberly is survived by her children, Jason Eddington and Sarah Eddington (Elkannah) Young IV of Canandaigua; grandson, Nathan Alexander Young; brother, W. Scott (Sandra McWilliams) Walker of Mississippi; father, Nathan R. (Helen T.A.) Walker of Phelps; two stepsisters, Karen (Herman) Parcero of Newark and Denise Cully of California; stepbrother, Douglas (Ann) Armitage of Texas; aunt, Susan Pratt of Webster, cousin, Douglas Pratt; two nephews; many friends; and a special friend, 'Meetu.' She was predeceased by her mother, Dorothy Chylaszek. Interment in Resthaven Cemetery in Phelps.

Ermolovich, William - William Ermolovich, 82, of Lyons died Sept. 8, 2002. He is survived by his wife Peggy Marie (Smith) Ermolovich; daughter, Mary Ann (Philip C.) Jolly of Virginia; son, William Michael (Pam) of San Diego; three grandchildren; a sister, Marge Cushner of Old Forge, PA; nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Navy and survived the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. He was a retiree of the Internal Revenue Service. Funeral services will be Sept. 14 in Pennsylvania.

Knapp, William - William E. Lapp, 55, of Newark, died unexpectedly Monday, September 9, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. He was born April 19, 1947, in Canandaigua, to Edward and Martha Knapp. He was a shift supervisor at Mobil Chemical in Macedon for more than 27 years. Bill was an avid bowler and golfer. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lowe Knapp of Newark; a daughter, Deborah Jean (Scott) Shoemaker of Phelps; a son, James E. (his fiance, Evelyn Ashley) Knapp of Lyons; five grandchildren; his father, Edward Knapp of Canandaigua; his sister, Jean (Roy) Prettyman, of Oklahoma; a niece and nephew. His mother, Martha, died in April 2002. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Noonan, Joanne - Joanne (Dwyer) Noonan died September 10, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, William R. Noonan, Jr.; her children, Margaret (Stephen) Hart, Elizabeth (Louis) Zicari, Mary Patricia (Timothy) Driscoll, Virginia (David) Hahne, William (Tracey) Noonan III, Thomas Noonan; 15 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Joanne was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Barat College. She was a former Assistant Director of the Office of Family Life for the Diocese of Rochester, former board member of Catholic Family Center and longtime volunteer in the Chaplain's Office at Genesee Hospital.

Abrahamson, Dorothy - Dorothy M. Abrahamson, 86, of Newark, died September 10, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert; daughter, Nancy (William) Keswick of Providence, RI; one grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Kauber, Rev. Barbara - The Reverend Barbara M. Kauber, 64, Rector of Zion Episcopal Church in Avon, NY died Sunday, September 1, 2002 at Rochester's Strong Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart attack.

Barbara Kauber was born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 16, 1938, to Mildred Beitz Kauber and the late George Albert Kauber. After spending her childhood in Niagara Falls, she attended Wells College and Harvard University. She returned to Wells College to teach, and subsequently served as Judicial Administrator at Cornell University in Ithaca. Some years later, she elected to enter the ministry. Upon completing her theological training at Seabury-Western Episcopal Seminary and Boston Theological Seminary, she was ordained an Episcopal Priest in 1993. After serving in parishes in Cape Vincent, Clayton, and Watertown, she was installed in 1995 as Rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newark, where she served for six years. A year ago, she was installed as Rector of Zion Episcopal Church.

Members of St. Mark's in Newark were shocked to hear of her sudden passing. The Rev. Kauber had been active in the community, serving on the board of directors of the Arcadia Historical Society and FLACRA; was a member of Newark Rotary Club, and several other organizations. Survivors include brother, David Kauber, of Aurora; brother, Peter Kauber, sister-in-law Donna Guinard, and nephew, Christopher Kauber, all of Greensboro, NC; and a wide circle of friends.

Dean, Francis Caldwell - Francis Caldwell Dean, 91, died August 28, 2002, at his residence after a long illness. He was born June 30, 1911, in Marion, and moved to Vero Beach, Florida 30 years ago. Mr. Dean was a superintendent for Marion Canning Company. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Vero Beach. Surviving are his wife Marian; two daughters, Nancy Angie Bailey of Keuka Park, and Donna Martha Nixon, of Vero Beach; son, Robert Pieters Dean of Corning; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Hackett, Arthur - Arthur F. Hackett, 82, of Aberdeen, Maryland died while on vacation in Ireland on August 17, 2002. Born in Plainsville, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Arthur Lewis and Nina May Hastings Hackett, and the husband of the late Thelma Regina Falk Hackett. He was predeceased by his brothers - Lewis B. Hackett of Palmyra, Roger B. Hackett of Conesus, and sister, Olive B. Herman of Palmyra.

He served his country in the U.S. Army for over 30 years during WWII in Europe and the Korean Conflict. He was involved in the atomic testing in the Pacific and was the last remaining survivor of 11 soldiers who were exposed to radiation on the Bikini Atoll. He retired from military service on January 18, 1968. He was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, Churchville, MD.

Mr. Hackett is survived by one daughter, Harriette Riddick of Martindale, Texas; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three nieces, Marion Holland of Newark, Nancy Cushman of Farmington, and Beth Fink of Williamsport, PA; and nephews, Bill Hackett of Palmyra, and Ben Hackett of Georgia; many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Interment was in Mikro Kodesh Beth Israel Cemetery in Rosedale, Maryland with full military honors.

Wittenhouse, Kelly - Kelly R. Wittenhouse, 34, of South Butler, died in an automobile accident on Sept. 1, 2002. interment, Huron Evergreen Cemetery in Wolcott. He is survived by his daughter, Kassandra of SC; girlfriend, Tammy Nickles of South Butler; father, Thomas of Wolcott; brothers, Keith (Tammy) Bloomer of Clyde, Kris and girlfriend Alyssa Bussard of Ontario; sister, Kerry (Mark) Bernstein of Queens; uncle, Mark Rittenhouse of Marion; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Bernice in 1996 and his brother, Kenneth in 1998.

Oliver, Reginald S. - The Honorable Reginald S. Oliver of Sodus Point, died August 29, 2002. He was a former Wayne County District Attorney and retired Wayne County Judge, Surrogate Family Court and acting Supreme Court Judge. He is survived by his wife, Lois (DeHond) Oliver; and a daughter, Ann (Dan) Janowski; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Sarah of South Setauket, LI; brothers-in-law, Richard DeHond, Sr., Clifton Springs, and Roger DeHond, Williamson and Punta Gorda, FL and their families, and cousins. Predeceased by parents, Emily & A.D. Oliver, Brockport.

York, Dorothy - Dorothy B. York, 81, of Lyons, died August 30, 2002, at Strong Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was born in Newark, to Seymour and Bernice Marriott Yager. Surviving are her son, the Rev. Edwin York of Newfield; daughter, Patricia (Richard) Dalheim of Brockport; eight grandchildren, Ronald and Robert Dalheim, Renee Ehnot, Lugene, Oscar, Willie, Sylvia and Jamie Nickens; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Carol) Yager of FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1977 and grandson, Ryan Dalheim, in 1996. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery in Lyons.

Lebbert, Dorothy - Dorothy V. Lebbert, 77, of Sodus, died August 31, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic. Dorothy is survived by four children: Frederick (Cheryl Flowers) Lebbert of Ontario, Carl Lebbert, Mary (Jack) Blankenberg and Susan (Ronald) Ross all of Sodus; seven grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; one sister, Ellen Brownell of Williamson; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Warobick, Judith - Judith Warobick, 43, of Lyons, died Aug. 31, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital following an extended illness. Judy was born in Auburn, the daughter of John Warobick and Marlene Wright Fessenden. She resided in the Auburn area most of her life, moving to Lyons five years ago. She was employed as a transcriptionist at Newark Physical Therapy in Newark. She enjoyed participating in sports, and excelled in golf and softball. She is survived by her father, John Warobick, of Aurora; her mother and stepfather, Marlene A. and Richard Fessenden of Sayre, PA; sister, Deborah Susan (Douglas) Skinner of Norcross, GA; two brothers, John Charles (Cheryl) Warobick of Crystal Lake, IL, and Ronald Lewis Warobick of Lake Placid; two stepsisters, Patricia (Dale) Amidon of Union Springs and Kim McKoy of Rochester, a stepbrother, John (Janet) Manzer of Scipio; a niece, Jenna Manzer; four nephews, Jonathan Clark Warobick, Joshua Amidon, Daniel McKoy and Mathew Manzer; and a very close and caring friend, Cathy Woodside of Lyons.

Rice, Michelle - Michelle L. Rice, 23, of Jordan/Clyde, died Sept. 1, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. Kroh, Betty - Betty N. Kroh, 72, of Palmyra, died September 2, 2002. Betty was born December 29, 1929 in Honeoye, to Edmund and Margaret Dwyer Nighan. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the James R. Hickey American Legion Post #120 and the Palmyra Veterans of Foreign War, post #6778. Betty is survived by her husband, Keith; daughters, Kelly Larsen of Palmyra and Kerry (Steve) Johnson of Marion; brother Jim Nighan of Rochester; sister, Mary Houck of Honeoye; grandsons, Matt and Kyle Elvin.

Spanganberg, Charles - Charles Spanganberg, 94, of Port Gibson, died September 2, 2002. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie. He is survived by his children, Doris (Robert) Colacino and Gerald (Josephine) Spanganberg; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nephews, Eugene Spanganberg, John Spanganberg; a niece Irene Rogers. He was a life member of Port Gibson Volunteer Fire Dept., active in Ontario Co. Senior Citizens and was an avid gardener. Interment in the Palmyra Cemetery.

Praino, Mary - Mary Praino, 94, of Newark, died August 28, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mary was born in Newark on October 23, 1907, daughter of Antonio and Rosa Gravino Colacino. She was a graduate of the Rochester Business Institute and was a member of the Women's Civic Club. She was a member of St. Michael's Church. She worked at C.H. Stuart Co., and in the family dry cleaning business. She is survived by three sons: Anthony Jr., Richard, and Dr. James (Sally), all of Newark; three grandchildren: Lisa (Ken) Babineau and their children Ryan and Nicole; Laura (Dr. Jonathan) Carey; and Jeffrey Parino; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Anthony; sisters, Angeline Rotella and Anna Colacino; brothers, Michael, Thomas and Frank Colacino.

Walters, John - John Walters, 70, of Palmyra, died peacefully in his wife's arms August 27, 2002 at Wayne County Nursing Home. John was born September 1, 1931 in Clifton Springs, the son of Harry and Sybil (Bower) Walters. He graduated from Newark High School and Morrisville College. He worked for over 25 years at Reckitt & Benckiser in Wolcott as the purchasing manager. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark and the Good Sam Camping Club. He was a past member of the East Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department and served as the secretary for many years. He served with the Habitat For Humanity Wayne County. He is survivied by his wife of 47 years, Norma Faas Walters; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Karen Walters of TX; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and John Barnard of PA; grandchildren, Hannah, Christianna and Maria Barnard; brother, Harold Walters of Sodus; sister-in-law, Dorothy Rockwell of Lyons; nieces and nephews and many friends. John was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Margaret LeRoy in 1967. Interment, East Newark Cemetery.

Foley, Marilyn - Marilyn J. Foley, 69, of Newark died August 21, 2002. She was born Sept. 29, 1932 in Newark, daughter of Jacob and Louise Johnson King. A longtime Newark resident, she was the manager of the Capitol Theater for more than 14 years. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen A. Foley of Webster; sons, Michael J. Foley and Kevin (Megan) Davis of Brighton; three sisters, Madoline Bushart, Jean Rahm, Leona Albrecht; nieces and nephews.

Holdridge, Donald - Donald Sheridan Holdridge, 88, of Florida, formerly of Fair Haven, died August 20, 2002. He was born in Savannah, to Marian and Flossie Holdridge. He spent most of his life potato farming and selling real estate in Wayne County. He was a member of Methodist Churches in both Florida and NewYork. He was instrumental in forming the Wayne County Farm Bureau and served as its president and director for many years. He served as president and was a board member of many organizations including Rotary, Hi Twelve, Republican Committee, Brooksville B.P.O.E., Masonic Lodge #764, and Florida State Board of Realtors. He was a life member and Past Commodore of the Fair Haven Yacht Club, where he was the recipient of their highest honor, the Bill Wright Award. Mr. Holdridge was predeceased by his sister, Ann Monje, and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Muriel Meade Holdridge; two sons, David (Judy) of Fair Haven and Richard (Carol) of Newark; two grandchildren, Mark S. (Jill) and Brent E. (Brandy); one great-grandson, and a niece Patricia Monje.

Richardson, Dr. Charles - Dr. Charles R. Richardson, 87, of Clifton Springs, died Aug. 21, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Dr. Richardson was born Sept. 8, 1914 in Washington, DC. He was a graduate of George Washington University Medical School, and served his residency at George Washington Hospital. He moved to Clifton Springs to complete his surgeons residency under Dr. Taylor. Dr. Richardson opened a family practice in 1941 in Clifton Springs. In 1944, he was drafted into the Army, where he served as a captain in the Seventh Army 112th Evacuation Hospital. He received many decorations and citations, including the French Non-Combat Meritorious Service Medal. Dr. Richardson was discharged in 1946, and resumed his family practice. He also served as the village of Clifton Springs health officer and school physician for many years. He is survived by dear friend, Betty Meath, of Phelps; son, Randolph (Margaret) Richardson of Milwaukee; two daughters, Elizabeth (William) Jacobson of Kohler, WI and Anne Stratton Morin of Grafton, MA.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Marion, in 1994, and a son, Charles in 1989.

Slagle, Doris - Doris S. Slagle, 94, died August 28, 2002. Doris was born April 7, 1908 in Auburn, to Charles L. and Florence (VanDuyne) Stryker. She graduated from Auburn Central High School and attended Skidmore College in New York, Hamilton Junior College in Lexington, Kentucky and University of Kentucky. She was married on April 26, 1930 to John H. Slagle of Ashland, KY. Doris lived most of her life in upstate New York. She was involved in many activities including the Girl Scouts, Garden Clubs, hospital auxiliary, Civic Music and was a life time member of the Presbyterian Church. She lived in Conroe, Texas for 18 years prior to moving to Albert Lea, Minnesota. Doris is survived by two daughters, Nancy Slagle Hockenberry, (husband Jack) of Albert Lea; Susan Slagle Young (husband, Thomas) of Conroe, Texas; son, Charles Peter Slagle of Canandaigua; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, an infant sister, and infant grandson. She was cremated and the interment will be at the family's convenience in Newark.

Canne, Vincent - Vincent Richard Canne, 74, of Phelps, died August 26, 2002 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Vincent was born Feb. 5,1928 in Phelps, to Peter and Julia DeRycke Canne. He retired from A&K Railroad Materials in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he was a machine operator for 16 years. He worked for Rockefeller Farms in Phelps for 25 years. He is survived by his daughter, Elaine (Al) Liberio, of Gorham, Maine; son, John (Robin) Canne of Rose; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Richard of Florida; three sisters, Regina Maslyn of Phelps, Evelyn Sullivan of Daytona Beach, FL and Lucille Bauer of Palmyra; several nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Newark Cemetery.

DeSeyn, Pearl M. - Pearl M. DeSeyn, 77, died peacefully Saturday, August 17, 2002 at her home on East Union Street, Newark. Mrs. DeSeyn was born the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Molazzo) Sperrazza on November 7, 1924 in Wyoming PA. She worked for many years as a secretary at Sarah Coventry. Then worked for several years as a teacher's aid at Perkins School. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Newark. Mrs. DeSeyn will be missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Karen DeSeyn of Farmington; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Snowney of GA; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, Sammy Sperrazza of PA; sisters, Lillian Boise of Newark, Marion Sperrazza, Rose Mary Sperrazza and Sylvia Sperrazza all of PA; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. DeSeyn was predeceased by her husband, Harold DeSeyn on April 27, 1977 and her sister, Clara DeLuca on April 27, 2001. Interment, East Newark Cemetery.

Fagner, Cornelia C. - Cornelia Catherine Kay Fagner, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 18, 2002 at Via Health of Wayne - Newark Campus. Mrs. Fagner was born the daughter of James and Catherine (Krocke) VanKouwenberg on May 27, 1917 in Marion, NY. She had worked at Quaker Hill in Newark as a file clerk. Mrs. Fagner was a member of the Arcadia Reformed Church. Mrs. Fagner will be missed by her daughter, Marjorie Bixby of Lyons; sons, James (Arlene) Fagner and Ronald (Micki) Fagner both of Newark; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sisters, Josie DeFisher, and Betty (Ralph) Everdyke; brothers, Adrian (Evelyn), Howard (Betty) and Donald (Jean) VanKouwenberg; sisters-in-law, Jeanette VanKouwenberg, Lena VanKoevering, Myrtle Fagner and Marjorie Fagner; brothers-in-law, James DeVoogt and Ray Spade; many nieces and nephews. Kelly, Betty J. - Betty J. Kelly, 77, Savannah, died Saturday (Aug. 18, 2002) in the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Betty was born Jan. 20,1925 in Savannah, the daughter of Leo and Mae Flynn Kelly, and had lived in Savannah for most of her life. She was the owner and operator of Betty Kelly's General Store in Savannah for 48 years until her retirement in 1995. She is survived by her niece, Margaret 'Midge' (Alfred) Stauch, of Lyons; grandnephew, Scott (Sandra) Stauch of Lyons; grandnieces, Christine (Scot) Rowles of Palmyra and Debra (James) Samborski of Newark; one great-grandnephew; and three greatgrandnieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank.

Mott, Morton 'Bill' - Morton 'Bill' Mott, 86, of Waterloo, passed away Monday (Aug. 19, 2002) at the Geneva Living Center South. Mr. Mott was born Oct. 20, 1915, in Packerham, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late Gordon A. and Ethel Lawson Mott. Bill served his country in the Army from Jan. 28, 1943, to Nov. 4, 1943. He served with USAFICPA from June 1943 to October 1943, and received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Cam paign Medal. For many years, Bill was the owner and operator of the Helpee Selfee Laundromat on Waterloo-Geneva Road in Waterloo. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler, and enjoyed woodworking. Bill was a past member of the American Legion Post 435 and the VFW Post 6433, both of Waterloo. He was also a life member of the Serven Fire Department in Border City. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Scheltz Mott, whom he married Sept. 4, 1942; four sons, G. Joseph (Linda) Mott , James A. (Donna) Mott, William K. (Carol) Mott and Patrick A. (Debbie) Mott, all of Waterloo; one daughter, Kathleen A. Shumway of Newark; one daughter-in-law, Gloria Mott of Waterloo; one brother, Lawson Mott of Watertown; four sisters, Irene Timmerman of Limerick, and Jean Townsend, Mary Peer and Dorothy Kirch, all of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Richard 'Dickie' Mott, who died in January of 2002.

Schuldt, Mildred H. - Mildred H. Schuldt, 62, died Sunday (Aug. 18, 2002) at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark Campus. Mildred was born Dec. 26, 1939 in Newark, the daughter of Fannie and Alvah Allen. She is survived by her son, George (Rose) Schuldt of Lyons; daughter, Linda Schuldt of Clyde; three grandchildren, Shaun, Aaron and Joshua; four great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Taylor, Katlin and Erin; a special friend, Donald Sedore of Lyons; brother, Alvin Allen of Newark; two sisters, Elizabeth Santelli of Newark and Iva Rubenstein of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 1988.

Sawyer, Desmond 'Dutch' - Desmond W. 'Dutch' Sawyer, 77, of Sodus, died August 9, 2002. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during WWII and was retired from Burroughs Company of Rochester. He was a member and Past Commander of the Williamson American Legion, VFW of Sanford, FL, and President of the Shuffleboard Club of Sanford. Rust, William - William J. Rust, 16, of Wolcott, died in a car accident August 9, 2002. McKenna, Walter -Walter J. McKenna, Jr., 92, formerly of Marion and Rochester, died July 27, 2002 in Surprise, Arizona. He was born April 27, 1910 to Walter and Jennie (Cook) McKenna, Sr. His father was a barber in Marion for many years. He was predeceased by his parents and by a son, Robert McKenna, in 1967. Hubright, Mabel - Mabel M. (Youngman) Hubright, 90, of Williamson, died August 9, 2002. She was a retiree from C.H. Stuart Co. of Newark. Crespo, Pilar - Pilar M. Crespo, 62, of Newark, died August 12, 2002, at the DeMay Living Center. Pilar was born in Gurabo, Puerto Rico, October 13, 1939, daughter of Eduardo and Juana Sanchez Benitez. She worked in housekeeping and in dietary at Newark Hospital for many years. She was a member of St. Michael's Church and a Newark resident for more than 38 years. She is survived by her husband, Carmelo; daughter, Stacey Pilar Crespo of Geneva; brother, Josian Sanchez of Newark; granddaughters, Nanette and Mariah Velazquez; grandsons, Davis and Edgardo Velazquez; several godchildren; and close friends, Juan Miranda and family. Interment will be in Gurabo, Puerto Rico.

Muoio, Elizabeth - Elizabeth Muoio, 97, of Newark, died August 13, 2002 at the DeMay Living Center. Elizabeth was born July 6, 1905 in Catanzaro, Italy. She was the daughter of Joseph and Rose Fioti Salatino; she immigrated to America in 1921, at age 16. She had worked for Hallagan Manufacturing, Bond Clothing, and the Edgett Burnham Canning Company. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Mrs. Muoio is survived her daughter, Mary Buttaccio of Newark; two sons, Joseph (Joy) Moyer of Buford, Georgia, and Richard (Diane) Muoio of Clyde; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, two sisters, Phyllis Plyter of Sequim, Washington and Mary Chiazza of Newark. She was predeceased by her husband, Patsy in 1976, a son Anthony Moyer, a daughter Rose Crisci, brothers, Nicholas and Dominic Salatino, sisters, Amy Curcio and Angie Pitzeruse. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Mindel, Mary - Mary Emily Mindel, 76, of Lyons, died August 13, 2002 at the Pines of Peace Hospice in Ontario. Mary was born April 29, 1926, in Lyons, to of Philip and Emily Schneible Mindel. She had worked for Harnish and Lookup Surveyors in Newark and did secretarial work for a number of businesses. She had served as secretary/treasurer for 45 years for Elmwood Cemetery Association and was secretary for the Lyons Rural Cemetery for four years. She was a member of the Golden Agers of the First Lutheran Church, and she attended the lunch program at the nutrition site at Lyons Community Center. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Lyons. She is survived by many friends, including the Lyons Manor Family. Interment follows in Elmwood Cemetery.

Rayfield, Evelyn - Evelyn Parker Rayfield, 89, a lifelong resident of Newark, died August 3, 2002 in Clifton Springs Hospital. Evelyn was born in Newark, on October 19, 1912, the daughter of Harry W. and Flora Warner Parker. She graduated from Newark High School at age 16, and received her bachelor's degree from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. She taught at the Arcadia Business Institute, was a substitute high school teacher, secretary for Newark First United Methodist Church, and retired at age 85 after 20 years as a Sales Associate with Landimere Realty/Coldwell Bankers. She was owner of the Parker-Rayfield Funeral Home with her husband, Robert H. Rayfield, who died in 1967. Evie enjoyed golfing and the social activities of the Newark Country Club, was an active member of the Newark Garden Club, Traveler's Club, Friends of the Newark Library, and was an avid bridge player, frequently competing in area tournaments. She lived the past year at Vienna Gardens in Phelps. She is survived by two sons - Robert H. of Jamesville and W. Parker of Dayton, OH; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson, several nieces and nephews. Interment in the Newark Cemetery.

Smith, Jacqueline - Jacqueline J. VanSchaffel Smith, 48, of Pine Valley Drive, Newark, died Aug. 2, 2002 in Norfolk, Virginia. Jacqueline was born July 31, 1954 in Newark, to Carl and Marian DeCann VanSchaffel. She was a public education specialist for 30 years for Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Service Office. She was a graduate of Newark High School's Class of 1972 and received an Associate's degree at Finger Lakes Community College. She was a member of Park Presbyterian Church, played volleyball and collected antiques. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, James M.; her son, Zachary (Tamara) of Norfolk, VA; daughter, Darcy, at home; her parents, Carl and Marian VanSchaffel; sister, Julie (Mike Chamberlin) Santino; brothers, James (Peg), John (Laurie), and Joel (Nancy) Zonneville, all of Newark; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Boeckmann, Ilva - Ilva Frethey Boeckmann, 92, of Newark/Clifton Springs, died August 1, 2002 at DeMay Living Center. Ilva was born February 23, 1910 in Clifton Springs, to William and Flora Davis Frethey. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newark since 1939. She had worked as a receptionist for VanBussum, Guidarelli, Maressa, Harris doctors office. Mrs. Boeckmann is survived by her son, John F. (Dawn) Boeckmann of Newark; daughters, Florene (Chester) Sanford of Newark, Carol (John) Snyder of Maryland, and Joan (Frank) Parlato of Webster; a niece, Barbara Williams, of Newark; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John A. Boeckmann on April 4, 1992. Interment, Rest Haven Cemetery in Phelps.

Cole, Sadie - Sadie M. Kotvis Cole, 92, of Williamson died July 31, 2002. She was a country school teacher and Sunday school teacher, and lifetime church member. She is survived by her son, Leslie (Sandra) Cole of Williamson; daughters, Ellen Blaker of Auburn, Muriel Felker of Sheridan, MT, Lois (Norman) Pike of Marion, Mary (Winston) Verhow, Dillon, MT, and Donna Cole of Lakeland, Florida; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sister, Marge Cook of Williamson; sister-in-law, Florence Woodhams of Rochester; nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Mahar, Lucille - Lucille Libbert Mahar, 96, died July 23, 2002 in Palm Harbor, Florida. She is survived by nieces and nephews. She graduated from Keuka College in 1928 and taught business subjects and retired from Sewanhaka High School, Floral Park.

DePoint, Isaac - Isaac J. DePoint, Jr., 86, of Palmyra died August 3, 2002 at Rochester General Hospital. Isaac was born June 1, 1916 in the Netherlands, to Isaac and Maude Vanderwall DePoint. Ike and Madelin Pieters DePoint were married April 30, 1942 in East Palmyra. Mr. DePoint was a carpenter by trade, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and a lifetime member of the Palmyra Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Madelin; son, James DePoint of Palmyra; brother, Jacob DePoint of Marion, nieces and nephews. Interment, East Palmyra Cemetery.

DeBadts, Doris - Doris E. (Mierke) DeBadts, 77, of Sodus, died August 4, 2002 with love, peace, and dignity at Pines of Peace, Ontario. She was born Oct. 5, 1924, daughter of Hiram and Edith Mierke. She was predeceased by husband, Ralph, in 1980. She is survived by devoted daughter, Linda and Bill DeBadts-Webb; son, Ron and Vicki DeBadts; loving granddaughters, Melissa and Erica DeBadts; sister, Shirley Andrews of Seneca Falls; brother, Robert and Barb Brown of Kirkville; sisters-in-law, Elinore Goulette of Sodus; Gail Caine of Sodus; nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was an active member of Sodus United Third Methodist Church, plus various church groups and activities; Sodus Order of the Eastern Star, Sodus Go-Getters Club, and was a volunteer at the Sodus Free Library.

Beck, Jean - Jean A. (Singer) Beck, 63, of Marion, died August 4, 2002. She was employed at Williamson Community Residence. Diamond, Deborah - Deborah Ruth Diamond, 46, of Marion, died August 6, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. She died at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Deborah was born June 26, 1953 in Rochester, to Robert and Marilyn Nix Doyle. She had worked in bookkeeping for the Cook Iron Store in Rochester. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Thomas P.; her daughter, Tracy Lynn (John) Weindl; one grandchild, Aaron Thomas; four sisters, Patricia (James) Sanders of Ontario, Ruth Hudson of Marion, Kathleen Doyle and Jane (Don) Neill of Rochester; two brothers, Thomas and Robert (Patricia) Doyle of Rochester; brother and sisters-in-law; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Lynn, John - John D. Lynn, 87, of Palmyra died at Perinton Park Manor, Fairport on July 28, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Early Lynn; daughters, Marcia Lynn of Hampton Bays, Tricia Lynn of Palmyra, Nancy (Andrew) Teitelman of Oak Park, IL; two grandchildren; sisters, Joan Lynn Cooper of Cornwall, England, Mary Lynn (Robert) Schwab, of Painesville, OH; five nieces and nephews. Jack was born April 18, 1915 in Rochester. He graduated from Williams College, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. After working for a short time in the law firm established by his grandfather, Judge John D. Lynn, he joined Garlock, Inc. in Palmyra as a tax attorney. He retired in 1986. His community service included working with other attorneys to establish the Wayne County Legal Aid office. He was instrumental in the centralization of the Palmyra and Macedon schools, and he was School Board President in 1957. He served as a Village Justice and Village Trustee; worked in the local Democratic Party; held membership in the League of Women Voters, Common Cause, and Wayne Sounding Board. He was a longtime member of Zion Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry.

Morrison, David - David Morrison, 30, died July 25, 2002 at ViaHealth of Wayne Newark Campus. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. David is survived by his parents, Larry Morrison and Beverly (Evans) DeNard; sister, Debbie Ansuini of Florida and one niece; paternal grandparents, Tom and Mary Morrison of Newark; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Dunning; his uncle, Jim Morrison; many friends at the Finger Lakes DDSO.

Norton, Dorothy - Dorothy W. Norton, 88, died July 25, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd B. Norton in June 2001. She is survived by two sons, James B. (Barbara) of Sodus, John C. 'Jack' (Linda Gayer) of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren, step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. She started teaching in Hammondsport, and retired in 1969, having been a Home Economics teacher in the Sodus district. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star #267 in Batavia and a member of the Wayne County Retired Teachers. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery.

Hasbrouck, John E. Jr. - John Edward Hasbrouck, Jr., (L.J), 38, of Heidenreich Road, Lyons, died July 27, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. He was born February 26, 1964 in Rochester, to John and Theresa Dombrowski Hasbrouck. He was employed as an installer at Monro Muffler in Newark. Ikewood, Luella - Luella Mae Ikewood, 86, of Canandaigua/Newark, died July 31, 2002 at F.F. Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua. Luella was born in Williamson on November 10, 1915. She retired from the Newark Developmental Center in Newark, where she was head cook for many years. Interment at Riverview Cemetery in Phelps. Mrs. Ikewood is survived by her son, Lester (Kathleen) Ikewood, Jr. of Newark; daughter, Patricia Pipitone of Canandaigua; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Merle Wing of Macedon; sister, Frances Barnhart of Lyons; nieces and nephews.

Williams, Hugh - Hugh W. Williams, 63, of Clifton Springs, died July 20, 2002 at his home. Bliek, John Edwin - John Edwin Bliek, 58, of Sodus, died July 29, 2002 at his home. John was born June 19, 1944 in Sodus, the son of Edwin J. and Julia (Featherly) Bliek. He was a graduate of Lyons High School and worked on family farms his entire life. He cared for his orchards and expanded the family business for future generations. He loved discussing the farm, the country, and history. He is survived by his wife, Audrey L. Bliek of Sodus; sons, John E. (Julia) Bliek and Jason E. Lang, Dr. Irving - The Rev. Dr. Irving Raymond Lang, 76, died July 14, 2002 in Florida after a battle with cancer. Dr. Lang was born in Buffalo in 1926. He graduated from Canisius College and earned a medical doctor degree from the University of Buffalo School of Medicine. Dr. Lang trained In Obstetrics and Gynecology and Surgical Oncology. He was honorably discharged from the 134th Medical Battalion as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army in 1966. After a brief time in academic medicine, Dr. Lang entered into private practice in Newark. In 1973, he moved his family to Fort Lauderdale, where he practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology at Holy Cross Hospital until his retirement in 2000. In 1991, he was ordained a Deacon in the Archdiocese of Miami and was assigned to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Dr. Lang is survived by his wife, Mary Jane and three sons, James of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Robert of Boulder, CO, Thomas of Orlando, FL; a daughter, Mary Alice of Fort Mill, SC and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Alice and Raymond Lang of Buffalo, and his sister, Lelene Burke of Houston, TX.

Rizzo, Irma - Irma E. Rizzo, 87, formerly of Steven Street, Newark, died July 20, 2002, at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Irma was born November 9, 1914 in Oneida, to Gordon and Hattie Schmidt Greenia. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. She was a manager at Wegmans in Newark, working there for 20 years and retiring in 1980. She is survived by a son, Thomas (Patricia) Rizzo of Newark; four grandchildren, Jason Rizzo, Gretchen Alberti, Ginat Barren and Angela Rizzo; four great-grandchildren; sister Ruth Reichert of Syracuse; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1965; three brothers Francis, Howard and Leonard Greenia, and sister Elsie. Interment in the Newark Cemetery.

Winburn, Thomas - Thomas W. Winburn, 51, of Stanley and Marion, died July 21, 2002 in Marion. Thomas was born Dec. 12, 1950 in Clifton Springs, son of the late Burr and Eleanor Payne Winburn. He had been a production worker for Abbey Industries in Canandaigua and enjoyed attending church with his family. He is survived by his sister, Mary DeCann of Marion; three brothers, Robert (Eileen) Winburn of Scranton, PA, James (Carolyn) Winburn of Duncan, OK, and Kenneth (Diane) Winburn of Marlow, OK; three aunts, Wilda Payne of Palmyra, Ruth Wilbur of Palmyra, Helen Payne of Rushville; one uncle, Olan Payne of Corfu; 13 nieces and nephews; five great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins.

Exton, Edna - Edna B. Exton, 92, died July 23, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband Albert. Survived by her children, Betty Johnson, Helen (Bill) Wilson, Albert Exton (Lori); nine grandchildren; great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Cathy Exton; nieces and nephews. DeRuyter, Ruth - Ruth DeRuyter, 93, of Phelps, died July 23, 2002. Macaluso, Nathaniel David - Nathaniel David Macaluso, 13, died July 11, 2002 in a house fire which destroyed the family home on Newark-Marion Road. He was a kind and goodhearted boy who will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. More than 300 people attended his funeral service Monday, at St. Gregory's Church. Nate was laid to rest in Marion Cemetery. Nate was born January 4, 1989 in Rochester, the son of Mark and Valerie Ours Macaluso. He completed sixth grade at Marion Central School and had attended St. Michael School in Newark through the fifth grade. Nate enjoyed all sports and played soccer, basketball and baseball. Nate is survived by his mother, Valerie Macaluso; brothers Drew and Danny; sister Katrina; paternal grandparents, Michael (Dorothy) Macaluso of Rochester; maternal grandparents, Virgil (Cil) Ours; many aunts, uncles and cousins; a special family friend, Lisa Hall. Nate was predeceased by his father Mark on December 25, 1998 and his maternal grandmother, Joan Ours.

Orbaker, Glen - Glen H. Orbaker, 96, of Maple Ridge Road, Newark, died July 14, 2002, at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mr. Orbaker was born Nov. 10, 1905, in Fairville, the son of Frank and Kate Billings Orbaker. He had owned and operated his business, Orbaker Excavating Contracting, until his retirement in 1976. Glen was a member of the Fairville Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Fairville Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a life member of the New York State Steam Engine Association, the Pioneer Gas Association and the Newark Masonic Lodge. Interment in Fairville Cemetery. He is survived by two nephews, Frank Orbaker and Eugene De Coster; and three nieces, Diane Crum, Margaret Harris and Helen De Coster. He was predeceased in 1999 by his wife, Mary; two brothers, Franklin and Ernest; and two sisters, Elizabeth De Coster and Jessie Exton.

Taylor, Madalene - Madalene Eleanor Taylor, 79, of Port Gibson died July 15, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Madalene was born February 23, 1923 in Solon, the daughter of Pearl and Clara Goodwin Winslow. She worked as a secretary at Sarah Coventry in Newark, and later as a ward secretary at Clifton Springs Hospital. She enjoyed watching birds and working on puzzles, and dearly loved her cat, Licorice. She was a member of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Jacqueline Davis of Rochester and Jeannette and Thomas Delmar of Weedsport; five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; brother Kenneth (Lucy) Winslow of Tully; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Jesse Taylor on May 21, 1980, and by son-in-law Steven Davis on March 31, 2001. Interment, Port Gibson Cemetery.

Bebb, Helen - Helen R. Bebb, 90, formerly of Newark-Marion Road, Palmyra, died July 11, 2002, at the Newark Manor. Helen was born July 8, 1912 in Alexander, daughter of George and Nina Simmons Buchholtz. In her earlier years, she worked for Sarah Coventry Co. of Newark, and she took care of people as a home health aide for many years. She worked at Wilson Hardware Store in Newark and was a member of East Palmyra Presbyterian Church. Interment in Huron Evergreen Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Dan) Napoleon of Palmyra, and Jean (Donald) Wirth of Tolland, CT; three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Herman and Robert Buchholtz; and her husband, Arthur K., in 1995.

Campbell, Paul - Paul Campbell, 85, of Palmyra, formerly of Newark, died on July 14, 2002. He was born August 25, 1916 in Potsdam, to Fred and Alice Monroe Campbell. He worked for the Wayne County Highway Dept. He was a lifelong member and past Deacon of the Palmyra Reformed Church. He is survived by his sons, Paul Campbell of TX & Leonard (Dorothy) Campbell of Centerville; daughters, Ruth (Delbert) Caplinger of Centerville, and Pauline Caplinger of Palmyra; nine grandchildren: 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Campbell was predeceased by his wife Marjorie in 1992. Interment is in Palmyra Cemetery.

DeFisher, Edward - Edward L. DeFisher, 67, of Sodus, died July 15, 2002 at Rochester General Hospital. DeFisher retired after 35 years from the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation as an investigator. He was predeceased by his daughter, Tracy DeFisher Licata and grandson, Brian Ivers. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ginny (Johnson); children, Pamela Ivers of Massachusetts; Daniel (Marcy) of Shortsville; Randall of Rochester and Brian of Sodus; six grandchildren; sister, Cornelia (Ivan) Provost of Williamson; nieces and nephews. Campbell, Doris - Doris Fuller Campbell, 96, of Pittsford, died July 14, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy F. Campbell; son, Roy Fuller Campbell and daughter, Linda Lagoner. She is survived by three sons, Leonard (Joan) of Naples, FL; Howard (Janet) of Pittsford, and Robert (Patricia) Campbell of Victor; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a niece and nephews. Interment in East Bloomfield Cemetery.

Hallagan, S. Edwin Jr. - Simon Edwin Hallagan, Jr., 97, died June 16, 2002 at the Harrington House in Walpole, MA. He passed away peacefully after watching Tiger Woods win the U.S. Open. Mr. Hallagan was born in Canastota, NY on January 4, 1905, the son of the late Elizabeth Howell and Simon E. Hallagan. His family moved to Newark, New York in 1913 when his father moved the Hallagan-Thompson furniture business into the former Mora automobile factory on Hoffman Street. He graduated from Newark High School in 1922 - President of his class and active in sports. He continued his education at Williams College. He worked for a short period of time at General Electric and then joined his father and two brothers, Stuart and Walter, at Hallagan Manufacturing Company, where he worked on the road as a salesman and company officer until his retirement. During World War II, he served as a Major in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a gunnery instructor. Mr. Hallagan married Louise Appleton in 1940 and would have celebrated their 62nd anniversary this year. Louise died in March 2002. The couple had three children: Susan Evans of Lincoln, Rhode Island, Robert E. of Dover, MA, and William of Pullman, Washington; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Louise and Edwin moved to Newark after World War II, first on East Avenue and then Highland Avenue. They enjoyed Newark friendships, golf at the Country Club, Rotary Club, card games with friends, hikes anywhere, and trips to Palm Desert.

Chaffee, Daniel - Daniel B. Chaffee, 89, formerly of Newark, died July 7, 2002 at Monroe Community Hospital. Mr. Chaffee was born April 25, 1913 in Syracuse, son of A.B. and Grace Ridell-Chaffee. He was a 1931 graduate of Newark High School and 1935 graduate of Colgate College. Daniel was president of Chaffees Inc. on South Main Street, a business established by his father in 1914. After his business was displaced by Urban Renewal, he operated Chaffee's Interior Decorating Studio from his home on Marbletown Road. Dan was a member of Park Presbyterian Church. He had been a member of the Newark Elks, Newark Lions Club, and the Newark Country Club and had served on the Board of Directors of Lincoln Trust Bank. A Lieutenant in the Navy during World War II, Dan received a Purple Heart serving on a PT Boat in the South Pacific Theater. He enjoyed music, especially barbershop quartet and wrote several songs. He was an avid fisherman. He is survived by three daughters, Sally Chaffee Maron of Guttenberg, NJ, Judith Chaffee of Boston, MA and Susan Chaffee of Newark; grandsons, Banyan and Adam Donzella; several nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth 'Betts' on October 26, 1968.

Breemes, Richard - Richard F. Breemes, 59, of Lyons, died July 3, 2002 at Rochester General Hospital. Richard was born July 27, 1942, in Rochester, the son of Peter and Ruth Breemes, and grew up in Fairport. He had worked for the past four years in the maintenance department at Lessord Chrysler Products in Sodus. Previously, Dick had been a roofer for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Durant Breemes; five children, Rick (Marcia) Breemes of Newark, Kay (Robert) Shields of Wolcott, David (Michele) Breemes of Newark, Scott Bardo of Marion and Christopher Breemes of Texas; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Peter Breemes of Livonia, Ken (Sarah) Breemes of Dalton and Steve Breemes of California; one sister, Helen (Dick) Gillette, of Mount Morris; two stepbrothers, David and Donald Breemes; a stepsister, Diane Boque; nieces and nephews.

Carr, Margaret Airth - Margaret Airth 'Maggie Mae' Carr, infant child, died July 8, 2002. She was born April 4, 2002 to Noel Roland and Doug Carr of Palmyra. She is survived by her parents, grandparents Kenneth (Airth) Demeurisse of Palmyra, and Helen C. Meleski; siblings, Morgan, Mathew, Sarah, Melissa and Elizabeth (Jay); a niece, aunts, uncles and cousins. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery.

Vickery, Shirley - Shirley A. Vickery, of Rochester, died Saturday, July 6, 2002. Predeceased by her husband, William. Survived by her son, Stephen (Betty) Vickery; daughters, Susan (David) Savage, Judi (Ed) Wooley, Katherine St. John; mother, Alice Humeston; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

English, Mary - Mary Jane English, 67, of Traphill, NC, died July, 3, 2002 with her family by her side after a long illness. Mary was the daughter of Ernest and Ida May Wright Blauvelt. She was born September 19, 1934 in Canandaigua. She enjoyed bingo and cross-stitching. She won many ribbons for her cross-stitching including one time when she won first, second and third place in one contest. Mary retired from Xerox where she was a computer programmer. Mary is survived by her daughters, Joni (Dan) Harris of NC, Star (Robert) English-White of PA and Marci Piner of NC; five grandchildren and one great-grandson; sisters Nancy (Charles) Race of Canandaigua, Suzanne (David) Simmons of Penn Yan, Patricia Blauvelt of Henrietta, Sandra (Bob) Wager of Penn Yan, Bonnie Thompson of TX and Linda Brink of Geneva; brother, George (Pamela) Blauvelt of Williamson; nieces and nephews. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Siebert, Robert - Robert Siebert, 87, of Williamson, died July 8, 2002. He is survived by his loving companion of 12 years, Hilda (Sis) Castner; son, Robert G. (Beverly) of Moravia; daughters, Lynn (Michael) Farmer of San Antonio, TX and Diane (Ronald) Magde of Marion; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Interment in the Webster Rural Cemetery.
