Santiago, Melanie L. - Melanie Lynn Santiago, 17, of Newark, died December 31, 2002. She was born May 23, 1985 in Newark, daughter of Roberto and Kym Muller Santiago. She was a junior at Newark High School and had worked for Wegmans in Newark for three years. Melanie loved being around people and making them laugh. She enjoyed driving her car and listening to music. She will be missed by her parents; brothers, David and Anthony Santiago; half-brother, Edwin (Jackie) Santiago of Puerto Rico; her sister, Angelique Santiago; paternal grandfather, Jesus Santiago of PR; maternal grandmother, Barbara Muller and her friend, Hector Hernandez; many aunts, uncles and cousins; a very special friend, Jessica Scott. She was predeceased by her paternal grandmother, Victoria Santiago in August 2002. Interment at East Newark Cemetery.

Tange, Mary - Mary Tange, 88, of Newark, died December 24, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Interment, South Lyons Cemetery. Mary was born February 20, 1914 in Phelps, to Camille and Rose DeVulder Koekhuyt. She retired in 1979 from the Newark School District, where she was the Kelley School cafeteria manager. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of Rosary and Altar Society. For years, she was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, and she was an avid bridge player. She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Jack) Tucker of Centerville; two sons, Richard (Barbara) of Pittsford and Michael (Robin) of Florence, SC; five grandchildren; two sisters, Madelyn (Vincent) Nieskes of Newark and Carolyn Butters of Pittsford; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank on September 3, 2000.

Tack, Mildred - D. Mildred Tack, 89, of Fairville, died December 31, 2002 at her home on Route 88 in Fairville. Mildred was born April 23, 1913 in the Town of Arcadia, the daughter of Maurius and Mammie Vermeulen Glerum. After she retired from the Newark-Wayne Hospital, she worked for Stone Packaging for many years. She was a member of the Fairville Presbyterian Church and a Life Member of the Newark Grange. She is survived by two sons, Robert (Connie) Tack of Newark, and Carl (Gladys) Tack of Newark; two daughters, Joann (Curtis) DeBrine of Williamson and Shirley (John) Martin of Newark; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, a grandchild, a great-grandchild and her brother, Peter Glerum. Interment in Fairville Cemetery.

Bosje, Esther - Esther A. Bosje, 90, of East Palmyra, died December 31, 2002. Esther was born January 29, 1912 in Rochester, the daughter of Abraham and Anna VandenBout Pieters. She was a member of the East Palmyra Christian Reformed Church. Esther had been a volunteer for many years at the Newark Manor Nursing Home and the East Palmyra Christian School. She is survived by two sons, Joseph (Dorothy) Bosje of East Palmyra, Gordon (Beverly) Bosje of Oklahoma City, OK; six grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 1976, eight brothers and a grandson. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery.

Barlow, Helen - Helen Lillian Barlow, 70, of Newark, died December 29, 2002. Mrs. Barlow was born March 9, 1932 in Utica to Arthur and Lillian Lankgans Montgomery. In 1988 she retired from Newark Developmental Center, where she worked as a therapy aide. Mrs. Barlow is survived by her sons, William (Audrey) and Gerald VanDusen, both of Newark; daughters, Theresa (Paul) Bolton of Newark, Debra (Howard) Almekinder of Newark, Brenda VanDusen and her friend, Louise, of Utica, and Karole (Peter) Petty of Newark; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Virginia) Montgomery of Marion, and Gerald (Nancy) Lankgans of Boonville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Montgomery of CA; three nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Glenn in 1997, Kenneth in 1996, and sister-in-law, Marie Montgomery in 1998.

Donald, Ralph R. - Ralph Richard Donald, 86, of Newark, died December 31, 2002 in the ICU at Newark ViaHealth. Ralph was born December 21, 1916 in Canton, Ohio. For many years, he was the manager for Schine Theaters. He then worked for the Courier-Gazette, after which he started his own business, Copy House Advertising in Pittsford. In semi-retirement, he worked at Wayne Drugs in Newark. Mr. Donald was well known for his interest in and large collection of old movies. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances 'Fran' Donald; son, Steve (Cindy) Donald of Lyons; daugher, Linda (Ronald) Mullen of Canandaigua; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Richard. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Heinicke, Arthur - Arthur J. 'Jack' Heinicke, 78, of Marion, died December 30, 2002. He was a resident of Ontario. A Veteran of WWII, graduate of Cornell University and a retired fruit grower.

McAllister, Virginia - Virginia M. McAllister, 78, of Phelps, died December 27, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Virginia was born September 29, 1924 in Rockford, IL, to Oscar and Hazel Bassett McAllister. She was a member of the Phelps Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her children, Beth (Marcial) Garcia of Newark, Stephen (Mary) McAllister of Phelps, Michael McAllister of Lyons, Harold (Jackie) McAllister of Phelps, Bonnie (Clarence) Fagner of Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harold, son David, and grandson, Luis Garcia. Spring burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.

Ryan, Mary - Mary L. Ryan, 91, of Marion, died December 29, 2002. She is survived by a niece, Sylvia (George) Miller of West Nyack; sister-in-law, Laura Ryan of Canandaigua; many cousins and friends. She was a retiree of General Railway Signal.

Burm, Dora - Dora Emma Burm, 70, of Elmira Heights, died Dec.15, 2002. Dora was born November 12, 1932 in Williamson, daughter of the late Peter, Sr. and Pearl (Francisco) Burm. She was a member of the Palmyra Moose, American Legion Post Aux. 154 in Elmira Heights, and First Baptist Church of Corning. She was predeceased by ex-husband Richard E. Roberts, Sr., one son, Roger L. Roberts in 1957, two nephews, and two brothers, Frederick Burm, Roy Burm and a good friend, Arnold Pratt. She is survived by son Richard (Elda) Roberts, Jr. of Elmira Heights; daughter, Debra Burm of Minnesota; two grandchildren; and four brothers here in Wayne County - Joe, Peter, Lavern, Ed Burm; and one sister, Marge (Jerry) DeRuyter of Sarasota, FL; nieces and nephews. Cremains will be inurned with her son Roger, in the Newark Cemetery.

Manktelow, Roger - Roger D. Manktelow, 62, of Williamson, died December 30, 2002. He was a Xerox retiree and past member of the Williamson Fire Company. Survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 40 years, Ann (Shove) Manktelow; children, Brian (Wendy) Manktelow of Lyons, Douglas (Marcy) Manktelow of Williamson, Deanne (Timothy) Kuter of Williamson; six grandchildren; sister, Sally (Ronald 'Red') Thompson of Williamson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Shirley Siler, Raymond (Julie) Shove, Erwin (Nancy) Proseus, Bob (Gail) Shove; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Interment in Marion Cemetery.

Bramer, Sue - Sue Getzler Bramer, 90, of Palmyra died in December 2002. Born May 1912 in Macedon, Sue had a long, enriched life, devoted family, friends, and many travel adventures. She is survived by daughters, Sue F. Liles and spouse, and Elizabeth (Ernest) Smith; also three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, nephew Peter Getzler and family, other relatives, and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Dr. Jim Bramer, her parents and brothers; interment at Whitehaven Memorial Park in Pittsford.

Francis, Ruth - Ruth B. Francis, 87, died December 26, 2002 after a long illness. She was formerly of East Bloomfield and Newark. Ruth was born November 3, 1915 in Salem, NY, to Harvey A. and Winifred M. Beattie Ferguson. She was the widow of William E. Francis Sr., who died in 1974. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Salem, NY; and the East Bloomfield Congregational Church. Mrs. Francis is survived by two sons, William E. (Nancy) Francis, Jr. of Tarpon Springs, FL and Robert (Karen) Francis of Stanley; one daughter, Kathleen (Martin) Morse of Newark; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Butler of Garden City, SC; two sons-in-law, Paul R. Maynard of Oswegatchie, NY, and Leon Redenback of McGraw, NY; three nieces, and one nephew. She was predeceased by two daughters, Irene Maynard and Carol Redenback, and one sister, Elisabeth Moore Wren. Spring interment in Rice Cemetery, Town of East Bloomfield.

Wren, Edward - Edward W. Wren, 56, of Sodus, died December 27, 2002. He is survived by his wife Kathleen; three children, Robert (Marisa) Wren, Jennifer (Jason) Davis, Matthew (Brenda Steffler) Wren, all of Sodus; four grandchildren; sister, Elaine Guillote of Williamson; brother, Darwin Wren of Sodus Center; nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Tomes, Rose - Rose Marie Tomes, 63, of Macedon died December 19, 2002. Rose was born March 31, 1939 in Newark to Albert and Margaret Rogers Orbaker. She was educated in Newark and graduated from Newark High School. She worked for Sarah Coventry, and later, at Wegmans in Newark and Fairport. Rose enjoyed being a mother and grandmother. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; son, Mark (Annette) Tomes of MN; daughter, Dawn (Dana) Pezzimenti of Buffalo; five grandchildren; brothers, Albert (Pat) Orbaker and David (Doreen) Orbaker, all of Newark; sister, Mary (Donald) Geise of Newark; nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased in 1960 by her daughter, Deborah.

Leary, Bertha - Bertha W. Leary, 99, a resident of the Wayne County Nursing Home since 1998, died Dec. 21, 2002. Bertha was born Sept. 3, 1903, in Lyons, to Karl and Johanna Phiel Westphal. She retired from Ohmann's store in Lyons, where she was a clerk. Mrs. Leary was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lyons. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Leonard, of Lyons; four grandchildren, Cynthia Enos of Oswego, Wayne (Kelly) Cornwell of Newark, Kim (Sharon) Cornwell of Newark, and Andrew Cornwell of Lyons; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Calvin, in 1983; her sister, Freda Gutschow, in 2001; and her great-grandson Scott Enos. A graveside service will be held in the spring at South Lyons Cemetery.

Button, Dorothy - Dorothy A. Button, 89, of Clifton Springs, died December 21, 2002. She is survived by 2 sons, Terry (Linda) Button of Liverpool, Roger Button of Nedrow; daughter, Sandra Martin of Clifton Springs; brother, Franklin (Audrey) Huggins of Nineveh, NY; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Quigley, Myrna - Myrna C. Quigley, 88, of Marion, died December 21, 2002. She was a member of the United Church of Marion and Ladies Auxiliary of the Marion Fire Department. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold and son, James. She is survived by 2 daughters, Sheila (Roger) Larwood of Lyons, Wanda (Harry) Conaway of Lyons; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a nephew; 2 nieces.

Engle, Furman Jr. - Furman E. 'Chub' Engle, Jr., 72, of Palmyra/Macedon died December 21, 2002 at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. Mr. Engle is survived by his wife, Dorothy Irene Engle; children, Bonnie (Edward) Hilliard of Waterloo, Gale Santiago of Rochester, Brian Engle of Palmyra, Lenard (Nancy) Engle of Macedon, Martin Engle of Palmyra, Vernon (Sharon) Engle of Marion and Pamela (Julio) Santiago of Rochester; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Vivian Johnson of Berwick, PA; nieces and nephews.

Overacre, Katharine - Katharine T. Overacre, 55, of Lyons, formerly of Clifton Springs, died December 18, 2002 at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Katharine and twin sister Theresa, were born June 30, 1947 in Clifton Springs, the daughters of Frank and Mary Tomlinson. Katharine graduated from Clifton Springs High School and from the CCBI Business School in Syracuse as a legal secretary. She had worked for Mobil Chemical Co. in Macedon for 10 years and then at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Katharine was one of the singing Tomlinson Sisters, who appeared on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour and won in 1958. They sang throughout the Finger Lakes area. She is survived by her husband, Bradley of Lyons; son, Matthew Overacre of Phelps; grandson, Bradley; three sisters, Mary Jane (William) Gormel of Henrietta, Julie (Bruce) Carlson of Phelps, and Theresa (Robert) Wallace of Red Creek; brother, William Tomlinson of Texas; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Interment, Pioneer Cemetery.

VanWaes, Robert - Robert 'Bob' VanWaes, 77, died November 22, 2002 at a Templeton Hospital, in California. Robert was born May 23, 1925 to August and Leona Van Waes in Newark, where he grew up. Upon graduating from Newark High School, he entered the Navy to serve in World War II. Robert was a contractor and cabinet maker and enjoyed remodeling his daughters' homes. He always helped his daughters whenever he was needed. Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening and was an avid golfer at Chalk Mountain, where he was known as 'Van.' Robert is survived by wife of 56 years, Shirley; three daughters, Victoria, Laura, and Julie; four grandchildren; brothers, Donald Van Waes and his wife, Peg, and Richard Van Waes and his wife, Dorothy; several nieces and nephews.

Weaver, Dorothy - Dorothy A. Weaver, 71, of Palmyra, died December 23, 2002. Survived by her husband, Thomas Weaver; children, Roger (Karen) Weaver of Palmyra, Nancy (David) Lord of Lima, Mary (Louie) Salerno of Lyons, Linda (Patrick) Gooney of Canandaigua; 9 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth DeWitt of E. Palmyra; several nieces & nephews.

Wykle, Hazel - Hazel Wykle, 97, of Canandaigua and Lyons, died at her home on December 22, 2002. Hazel was born to Fredrick and Lula Trask Niles on July 11, 1905 in Hunt, NY. She retired from Newark Developmental Center where she worked as an attendant. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Newark. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Watson of Marcellus and Bertha Vicinus of Canandaigua; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wykle was predeceased by her husband, Leslie in 1959. Interment, East Newark Cemetery at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating.

Akins, Freida M. - Freida Mason Akins, 86, of Newark, died December 13, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. Freida was born February 11, 1916 in Altmar, the daughter of George and Elnora Richardson Mason. She married Emmry Akins on February 24, 1934. She retired in 1978 from the Finger Lakes DDSO, where she worked as a supervisor. She loved to visit her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, George Akins of Canandaigua, Garry (Judy) and Thomas (Wanda) Akins both of North Rose; daughters, Phyllis Akins of Minnesota, and Lynda (Ken) Blake of Newark; 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; step-sisters Arretta (Floyd) Ware of Parish, and Gloria Bunny Young of Florida; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Emmry on Jan. 20, 1980; daughters, Carolyn in April of 1996, and Elaine in Nov. 2001; daughter-in-law, Kim Aikins in August 2001 and one great-grandson. Spring burial at Rose Cemetery.

Smith, Jack - Jack W. Smith, 76, of Lyons, died December 12, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic after a courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born January 31, 1936 to Clone E. and Lillie C. Knott Smith in Bradford, TN. He lived in the Lyons area for 45 years, working as a salesman and fruit and crop specialist. He also owned and operated J & R Smith Farm in Lyons, after he retired from Agway Agronomy. He was a member of Newark Church of Christ, where he served as treasurer and trustee for several years. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Robbie (2001); son, Daryl (1987); brother, Herchel (1982); and sister, Julia Faye (2002). Surviving are a daughter, J. Denice (Roger) Granatiero of Fair Haven; son, Bradley (Karen Schroo) of Lyons; two grandchildren; sister, Hazel (Dean) Gervel of Lyons; two nieces and a nephew.

Mills, Alan - Alan K. Mills, 61, of Sodus, died December 11, 2002 at Myers ViaHealth Community Hospital in Sodus. Alan was predeceased by a brother, Gary Mills. He is survived by Ronald (Delores) Mills of Alamogordo, NM; sisters, Dorothy (Don) Rhine of Dunedin, FL, Mary Kerberskey of Greenville, SC, and Betty Hittle of Sodus; sister-in-law, Philippa Mills of Sodus; nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces.

Fuller, John - John A. Fuller, 93, of Sodus, died December 11, 2002. He was a veteran who served as a Marine in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was retired from the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets. He had also been a produce buyer for Wegner Canning Corp. and Comstock Foods, and he was a life member of the Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club. He is survived by his daughter, Joan Fuller of Sodus; son, Thomas Fuller of Holmes Beach, FL; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Erika) Fuller of La Mesa, CA; sister, Mollie Green of Carleton, MI; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased January 28, 1982 by his wife of 49 years, Eva (Duncan) Fuller.

Turner, Irene - Irene V. Turner, 82, of Palmyra, died December 12, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Irene was born July 29, 1920 in Newark, to William and Sarah Pattist VerDow. She retired from the Garlock Co. in Palmyra, where she worked in the office. She served in World War II as an Army nurse. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Turner of Newark; three sisters, Eleanor Guard and Evelyn Hayslett of Newark, and June Jones of Fontana, CA; brother, Richard (Eldine) VerDow of Palmyra; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George F., in 1968.

Seeley, Raymond - Raymond A. Seeley, 85, of Sodus, died December 15, 2002. He was predeceased in 1984 by his son, Rodney Seeley. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Hoot Seeley; three sons, Robert (Cheryl) Seeley, Richard Seeley, both of Sodus, and Ronald (Donna) Seeley of Williamson; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Elzufon, Milton - Milton Harold Elzufon, D.P.M., 90, of Newark, died, December 10, 2002 at home. Dr. Elzufon, who after 90 full years never lost his zest for life, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services were held at the Temple Beth El in Geneva, with interment at Glenwood Cemetery. Milt was born August 29, 1912 in the Bronx. He began his political career at age 13, running errands for the Democrats during the 1924 nominating convention at Madison Square Garden. He went to Boston University and majored in journalism. Work being scarce during the Depression, a cousin suggested he consider podiatric medical training. He then went to the First Institute of Podiatry and upon graduation began his practice in New York City. In 1940, Dr. Elzufon moved to Newark to start a practice that was soon interrupted by World War II. Doc served in the Army with the 113th Combat Unit, receiving two commendations for a Bronze Star. After the War, he returned to Newark, resumed his career as a podiatrist and did not retire until the age of 85 - with reluctance. Dr. Elzufon loved politics. He was first elected Mayor of the Village of Newark in 1955 and served in that position for 18 years. He was elected to a two-year term as Town of Arcadia Supervisor (1960-62), concurrently serving the first six months as the Village Mayor. Dr. Elzufon served as the Chairman of the Newark Urban Renewal Agency and for many years, Democratic Election Commissioner for Wayne County, and was affiliated with numerous podiatry associations on the national, state and local level. Active with the Masons, he served as Past Master of the Newark Masonic Lodge, Past District Deputy Grand Master of Wayne Masonic District, Past High Priest and Past Assistant Grand Lecturer of Newark Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. He was also a Life member and past member of the State Legislative Committee of Veterans of Foreign Wars, founding commander and state director for five years of the Masonic War Veterans, and Past Vice Commander of August Mauer Post #286, American Legion. He had many other local associations with groups, including the Newark Elks Lodge, Newark Country Club, the Newark Boosters Club, Excelsior Hook & Ladder Company #4 of the Newark Fire Department, and the Chamber of Commerce. A Past President of both the Newark Music Appreciation Club and the Newark Dramatic Club, he also served as President of the Newark Community Baseball Club. He is survived by his son, John (Lena) of Wilmington, Delaware, two daughters Robyn (Ron) Frick of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mindy (Steven) Salsburg of Elmira; grandchildren, Michael Elzufon, Ari and Risa Salsburg, Rachel and Aviva Elzufon; great-grandchildren Whitney, Alexander and Claire; brother, Eugene (Eleanor) of Bethesda, Maryland and sister, Charlotte (Philip) Kronen of Tucson, Arizona; nieces, nephews and cousins. Milt was predeceased by Muriel, his wife of 64 years, on March 5, 2002.

Norris, Richard - Richard E. Norris Sr., 73, of Lyons, died December 8, 2002. Richard was born November 22, 1929 in Sodus, son of the late Richard E. and Charlotte Shove Norris. He had served in the Army in Germany, during the Korean conflict years. He was the owner and operator of Norris Roofing in Lyons. He was a member of the Lyons VFW Post 5092 and the Lyons American Legion Post 227. He is survived by his wife, Irene Ward Norris, of Lyons; six children, Steve Norris of Lyons, Debbie (John) Miller of North Rose, Susan Bates of Lyons, Dennis Norris of Rochester, Richard (Jill) Norris, Jr. of Lyons, and Mary Lou (Joe) Turazzo of Newark; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, John (Judy) Norris of Wolcott; four sisters, Freda Petrus of Clyde, Joyce (Gordon) Everdyke of Florida, Frances Gary of Clyde, and Leona (Mike) Stirpe of Clyde; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald, Robert and Frank.

DeCann, Myron - Myron D. DeCann, 61, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Newark, lost his courageous battle with cancer on November 25, 2002. Myron was born Aug. 11, 1941, in Newark. Cooper, Thomas - Thomas J. Cooper III, 37, of Palmyra, died unexpectedly on December 7, 2002. Tom was born February 21, 1965 in Canandaigua, to Thomas J. and Barbara Streber Cooper II. He was a graduate of Newark High School and was employed by the Village of Palmyra Parks Department. Tom was an avid wrestling fan and Yankees fan. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Woodard (Streber) of Palmyra; sister, Genevieve (Randy) Trask of Lyons; brother, William (Kathy) Makin of Batavia; a niece, nephew and many good friends. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas J. Cooper II in 1974, and his step-father Art Woodard in 2000. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery.

McKane Catherine - Catherine L. McKane, 89, of Newark, died December 9, 2002 at the home of her daughter. Mrs. McKane was born to Carl and Edith Parker Rice on September 26, 1913 in Cortland. She retired from Newark Hospital after more than 25 years, working as an aide and secretary. She was a member of the First United Methodist church of Newark, since December 4, 1966. She was a member of the Retired Senior Citizens of Lyons. She is survived by daughter Wilma (William) Minier of Newark; grandchildren William J. (Denice) Minier of Lyons, Debra (James) Tuttle of Marion, Brian Minier of Newark, Daniel ( Elizabeth) McKane of Rochester, Brenda (Kevin) Maylin of Williamson, and Cassie McKane of Marion; many nieces and nephews. Catherine was predeceased by her husband George McKane in 1956; son, Kenneth McKane in 1996, and her sister, Evelyn Rice. Interment at Webster Rural Cemetery.

DeCook, Scott - Scott R. DeCook, 42, of Clifton Springs, died unexpectedly on December 3, 2002 at his home. Scott was born Feb. 16, 1960, in Clifton Springs, the son of E. Richard and Barbara Overslaugh DeCook. Scott was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Gwen Gigliotti DeCook, and their sons, Zachary and Kyle DeCook, of Clifton Springs; his mother, Barbara DeCook, of Phelps; brothers, Brad (Kim) DeCook of Greece and Thad DeCook of Clifton Springs; sisters, Lorraine (Frank) Ricciotti of Canandaigua and Allene Monson of Phelps; nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. He was predeceased by his father, E. Richard DeCook, who died in 1997; and nephew, Jared DeCook, infant son of Brad and Kim DeCook.

DeSain, Mary - Mary T. DeSain, 86, of Lyons, died December 4, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. Mrs. DeSain was born September 26, 1916, in Mount Morris, to Samuel and Marie Salerno Zaso. She worked for the NYS Thruway Authority as a supervisor for their restaurants. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Lyons. She is survived by her daughter, Sally (Gerald) Wagner of Lyons; daughter-in-law, Diane DeSain of Newark; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grand children; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was predeceased in 1982 by her husband, Anthony; her sons, Anthony Jr. in 1983 and Richard in 1987; her brothers, Joe and Frank Zaso; and her sister, Angelina Davis.

Wagner, Gerald - Gerald I. 'Bucky' Wagner, 67, of Lyons, died December 7, 2002. He was born May 12, 1935 in Lyons to Irving and Ella Feiock Wagner. He was self-employed and operated Bucky's Tavern and Wagner Septic Tank Business for 20 years. For 20 years he was an Operating Engineer for Local #832 of Rochester. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, American War Dads of The Lyons VFW, Lyons Fire Dept. Hose Co. 5, and Lyons Elks Lodge #869. He is survived by his wife, Sally DeSain Wagner; a son, Chris; two grandchildren; a brother, Vincent (Susan) of FL; sisters-in-law, Elsie Wagner and Diane DeSain; an uncle; aunts; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Buyck, Cornelia - Cornelia J. Buyck, 93, of Marion, died December 5, 2002. She was a member of the Second Reformed Church of Marion and the Rebekah Lodge in Williamson. She is survived by sons, Alvin (Ann) of Endwell, Gordon (Shirley) of Livonia, MI and Ronald (Rosemary) of Southport, NC; a sister, Anna Ellis of Williamson; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Hugh Austin. The United States Air Force Flag flew in honor of his service during the Korean War.

Tears, Ralph - Ralph J. Tears, 80, of Clifton Springs, died December 6, 2002. Elwell, Helen - Helen MacGregor Elwell, 79, of Kansas, died October 9, 2002 in Lawrence, Kansas. She was born on January 20 1923 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of William and Lillias (Wallace) MacGregor. Her parents had immigrated from Scotland in 1919. Helen grew up in Niagara Falls and attended Niagara Falls High School. She graduated from William Smith College with the B.A. degree in 1947. She and Jacque S. Elwell were married on July 1, 1944 at her home in Niagara Falls. She was a member of Park Presbyterian Church in Newark and the First Presbyterian Church in Pittsford. The Elwells only recently moved to Lawrence, KS. Helen is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jacque Elwell; daughter, Linda Cowles and husband Alan, of Lawrence, KS; son, Peter Elwell and wife Jill, of Columbus, OH; several grandchildren; sister, Lillias Tufts, of Lewiston; and brother, Wallace MacGregor of Spring Hill, FL.

Milliman, William - William A. Milliman, 83, of Newark, died December 5, 2002 at DeMay Living Center in Newark. Bill was born Dec. 13, 1918 in Lyons, to Alfred and Crystal Wilbur Milliman. He worked for 35 years for the Garlock Co. of Palmyra in the engineering department. He attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Newark. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Davidson, of Newark; two sons, William 'Bud'(Donna) Milliman of Geneva and Bruce (Colleen) Milliman of Irondequoit; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five brothers: Herbert of New Jersey, Frank of Pennsylvania, James of East Palmyra, Thomas and Charles of Lyons; one sister, Eileen Dennie of Palmyra; nieces and nephews. Lopez, Mary - Mary E. Lopez, 88, of Clyde, died December 6, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. Mary was born July 2, 1914 in Seneca Falls, to Alex and Giocondia Zennelo Carissimi. She married Marcus P. Lopez on Sept. 5, 1932, in St. Patrick's Church in Seneca Falls. Mary was a longtime resident of the Clyde-Savannah area, and was a member of St. John's Church. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Savannah and was active in the Altar Society and the Rosary Society. She is survived by her daughters, Caroline (Mario) Bernardo of Endicott, Jean Walsh of Rochester, Judy (John) Emper of Newark, and Mary Lee (James) Lippert of Clyde; sons, Joe Lopez of Lock Berlin, and Mike (Melody) Lopez of Clyde; sister, Lucy Capaldi of Seneca Falls; brothers, Anthony, Alex and Joseph Carissimi, all of Seneca Falls; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Marcus P. Lopez, who died May 7, 1972. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

Sonneville, Adrian - Adrian P. Sonneville, 94, of East Williamson, died December 9, 2002. He had retired from the Curtis-Burns Co. He is survived by his wife Jennie (Blankenburg) Sonneville; son, John D. Brooks, Esther R. - Esther R. Brooks, 87, of Newark, died December 11, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Brooks was born August 8, 1915 in East Palmyra, the daughter of Earle and Nellie Millar Robinson. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Esther worked for the Farmer & Merchant National Bank in Benton Harbor, Michigan for many years before returning to Newark several years ago. Interment in Bath National Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Gil (Rhonda) of O'Fallon, MO, John (Debbie) of Buchanan, MI; four grandchildren; sister, Melba McCallum of Newark; brother, Irving Robinson of Rochester and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Gilbert George Brooks in 1986.

Biermann, August C. - August Conrad 'Gus' Biermann, 76, of Newark/Phelps, died suddenly at his home on December 1, 2002. Gus was born to August and Dorothy Kroemer Biermann on January 21, 1926 in Brooklyn. He came to Newark from Long Island to build the Newark Sewer Plant for Bankert Construction. He was involved in the construction of Redeemer Lutheran Church on Hope Avenue in Newark. Gus was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lyons, where he served as treasurer for several years. He was a member of the VFW Post 2883, Newark American Legion August Mauer Post 286, and the Newark Elks Lodge. Gus is survived by his wife of 29 years, Beverly Pratt Biermann; children David (Katherine) Biermann of Virginia, Robert (Delinda) Biermann of Florida, Marie (Mark) Biermann Swisher of Maryland, Hugh (Nikki) Austin of Pennsylvania, Mark Austin of Palmyra, and Tim (Valerie) Austin of Shortsville; six grandchildren. Gus was predeceased by his parents, and brothers Robert and Allan. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Gus loved his country and wore his uniform with pride. It was an honor to serve as a Marine. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

Fabrizi, Thomas - Thomas Fabrizi, 57, of Newark, died suddenly at his home on November 30, 2002. Tom was born to Rocco and Julia Petrus Fabrizi on February 14, 1945 in Lyons. He worked in construction in Rochester. Tom is survived by his children: Michael (Helen) Fabrizi of Illinois; Jessica Fabrizi of Newark; Lloyd (Julie) Snyder of Geneva; Toni Snyder of Newark; Shaw (Michael) Gonzalez of Newark; seven grandchildren; step-brother Harley (Karen) Turner of Buffalo; step-sister Trail Marie (John) Louis of Florida; several nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased September 20, 1988 by his loving wife, Bonnie Butler Fabrizi. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

Santino, Nicholas Sr. - Nicholas A. Santino, Sr., 89, of Punta Gorda, Florida, died November 29, 2002. He was born in Vasto, Italy, March 8, 1913. He arrived in the United States in 1916. He lived in Newark until he moved in 1972 to Punta Gorda Isles. He was owner of Ruffalo Trucking Co., Santino Trucking Co. and Santino Warehousing. He was a member of the Newark Rod and Gun Club, Geneva Country Club, Moose Lodge 1420 of Palmyra, and Elks Lodge 2606 of Punta Gorda. Mr. Santino is survived by his wife, Ruth, at Sandhill Gardens of Punta Gorda, FL 33983, and his first wife, Mary Santino. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Ray) Alves of Canandaigua; two sons, Joseph (Linda) of Newark and Nicholas, Jr. (Fay) of Newark; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alberta Mazzei and Lucille Molica; three brothers, Sam, Tony, and Rudy, all of Fairport. He was predeceased by his brothers, Michael of Fairport and Jesse of Lyons.

Herd, Wilbur F. - Wilbur Frank Herd, 92, formerly of Lyons, died November 30, 2002 at his home in North Carolina. He was born November 2, 1910 in Sinclairsville, NY. Mr. Herd was a retired carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Lincolnton Post 15034 VFW; Hall of Fame Lake Ontario Bowlers Association; Carpenters Local Union 85 Rochester. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Doris Herd; sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Gail Herd of Fort Collins, CO; Kenneth and Debbie Herd of Newark; Dennis and Mary Ellen Herd of Lyons; Richard and Sharon Herd of Stanley, NC; daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Tim Carter of York, SC; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by their son, Douglas Herd. Interment in the Rose Cemetery.

Foster, Charlotte - Charlotte A. Foster, 79, of Palmyra, died December 1, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Foster of Palmyra and Janis (Charles) Haak of Macedon; her son, Doug (Therese) Foster of North Carolina; three grandsons and many friends. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery. The funeral home flew the United States Navy Flag in honor of her service during World War II.

Twist, Kathryn - Kathryn E. Twist, 60, of Newark/Seneca Falls, died November 29, 2002 in North Miami Beach, FL. She was born Nov. 26, 1942 in Waterloo to the late Clarence and Augustine Beecher Twist. She was a retired case worker for the former Willard Psychiatric Center. She is survived by sisters, Rose Palochick of N. Miami Beach, and Edith (Ray) Paone of Newark; three brothers, Clarence 'Joe' (Jean) Twist of Port Gibson, James (Dorothy) Twist of Seneca Falls, and Thomas (Virginia) Twist of Ovid; sister-in-law, Beverly Twist of Waterloo; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews; friends, Bob Briggs and Sally, of Sodus. VanBortel, Hudson - Hudson J. VanBortel, 83, of Palmyra, died December 3, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. Hudson was born October 28, 1919 in Marion, to Jacob and Cornelia Vanderlinde VanBortel. He was a member of the Macedon Center United Methodist Church and a retiree of Stromberg-Carlson in Rochester. Interment in Macedon Center Cemetery. He was predeceased by his sister Florence Collier. He is survived by his brother William VanBortel of Palmyra; sister Lavina Freeland of Shortsville; brother-in-law Ralph (Janice Young) Collier of Palmyra; nieces and nephews.

Verdine, Evelyn - Evelyn (Ghyzels) Verdine, 74, of Williamson, died December 3, 2002. She was a teacher assitant at Williamson Central School, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Newark. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Lyle J. Verdine; children Gary (Patricia) Verdine of Newark, Dale (Joyce) Verdine, Alan (Betty) Verdine, Deborah (Carl) Poole, all of Williamson; six grandchildren; sister, Doris (Luther) Humbert; brother, Walter (Jane) Ghyzels, both of Williamson. Peck, Elmer - Elmer S. Peck, 88, of Newark/Phelps died November 22, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Elmer was past Director of the Finger Lakes Farm Credit Association and the Ontario Farm Extension Service. He was member of the GLF and the DHIC. He served on the Phelps School Board for many years. He and his wife Viola owned and operated a dairy farm on Route 14 in Phelps for several years before moving on Pelis Road in Arcadia and establishing El-Vi Farms which the family still owns and operates. Elmer will be missed by his sons, James (Ann) of Newark, Richard (Carol) of Montana, Donald (Nancy) of Virginia and Ted (Carol) Peck of Newark; daughter, Janet (Donald) Stevens of Massachusetts; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Shirley) of Florida, Nathan (Florence) of Phelps and Robert Peck of Clifton Springs; sisters, Ethel Warburton of Oswego, Blanche Gifford of Phelps, Alice (Joe) Blankenhorn of Massachusetts, Gertrude Bennett of Phelps and Shirley (Robert) Totman of Red Hook; many nieces and nephews. DeBout, Genevieve - Genevieve M. DeBout, 88, of Newark, died November 24, 2002 at the DeMay Living Center. Genevieve was born April 12, 1914, in Newark, to Daniel and Sara Bouwens Boughton. She worked as an attendant at the Newark Developmental Center and was a member of the CSEA. She is survived by her sons, Louis E. of Williamson and Charles O., Jr. of Ocala, Fl; daughter, Birdenia H. DeGroat of Red Creek; two sisters, Thelma Robinson of Lyons and Elnora Brevet of Newark; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles O. Sr., who died in 1988; sister, Charlotte Roedts; and brothers, Alwood, Donald, Daniel Jr. and Ronald. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

Barkman, Mary - Mary L. Barkman, 91, of Newark/Red Creek, died November 21, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Mary was born in the Town of Cairo, February 21, 1911, to Merville and Bertha Hood Bennett. She resided in Red Creek for 20 years before moving to Newark in the 1950's. She was retired from the former Sibley's Department Store in Newark. She is survived by one son, Richard Barkman of North Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Elvin Barkman, daughter Joyce VanDerBroek, grandson Abram Simon VanDerBroek III, sister, Gertrude Blank and brother Frank Bennett. Interment, Fairville Cemetery.

Cook, Stanleigh - Stanleigh G. Cook Jr., 74, of Clifton Springs, died November 24, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Stan was born August 23, 1928, in Canandaigua, to Adelaide and Stanleigh Cook. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict, and had worked at the Newark State School for 11 years, prior to being in the electrical business with his father. He is survived by his wife Rebecca; two daughters, Valerie (Javier) Contreras of Clifton Springs and Paula (Robert) Vaughan of Clifton Springs; son Robert (Lorraine) Cook of Phelps: stepson, Melvin Bennett of Leon; six brothers: Gary Cook of Palmyra, Edward Cook of Phelps, James Cook of Clifton Springs, Burr Cook of Lyons, David Cook of Buffalo, Jack Cook of South Carolina; two sisters, Margaret Cook of Newark and Mary Ann Marshall of Texas; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. DuBois, Georgo V. - Georgo Rhodes Vrooman DuBois, 92, died Nov. 10, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic. Georgo was born September 17, 1910 in Salamanca, daughter of George and Adda Hubb Rhodes. She was a member of the Clifton Springs Nurses class of 1934 and an alumna of the New York State Teachers Association. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and resided at the Spa Apartments since 1994. Mrs. DuBois was the widow of Dr. Elmer DuBois of Newark. She is survived by her son, James (Kathleen) Vrooman, of Waterloo, two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, several nieces and nephews. Interment is in the Pearl Street Cemetery in Clifton Springs.

Foti, Nicholas - Nicholas J. Foti, 84, died November 17, 2002 at his home on West Sherman Ave. Nick was born May 28, 1918 in Newark, son of Joseph and Caterina Bubba Foti. He worked for local 485 of the Carpenter Union, retiring in 1981. Nick was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and was active in many church projects. He served in the U.S. Army with the 1276 Engineer Battalion during World War II in North Africa and Europe. He was a member of the August Mauer Post 280, American Legion in Newark. He is survived by Florence, his wife of 55 years; daughter Sharon Foti of Seeley Lake, MI, and son Gary (Claudia) of Pittsford; four grandchildren; a brother Joseph of Sodus; sisters Betty Chilbert of Clyde, Roslie Cicquilano of Geneva and several nieces and nephews.

Ferber, Andreas - Andreas Ferber, 87, died November 14, 2002 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. He was born March 28, 1915 in Yugoslavia, the son of Heinrich and Anne Marie Rotharmel Ferber. He left Yugoslavia in 1943, moving to Austria, where he lived until 1951. Andreas immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Rose in 1953, moving to Newark in 1984. The past several years he has lived in Clifton Springs. He was a tailor by trade in his earlier years and eventually retired from Mobil Chemical. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Newark. He is survived by a daughter Hannelora (Helmuth) Reinhardt of Newark, and son Anton (Dixie) Ferber of Clifton Springs; four grandchildren - Helmuth (Ann) and Andreas (Kristin) Reinhardt, Sofia Ferber and John (Christina) Ferber; six great-grandchildren. Interment in Rose Cemetery.

Caster, Leila - Leila M. Caster, 92, of Newark, died November 14, 2002 at Newark Manor Nursing Home. Lee was born on July 17, 1910 in Clyde, the daughter of Charles and Edith Klippel. She graduated from Newark High School and attended the School of Nursing at the Clifton Springs Sanitarium and Clinic, where she graduated as a registered nurse. Through the years, as a nurse, she loved helping others and touched so many lives. She married Benjamin Caster of Newark on September 9, 1933 and they had three children. Lee worked as a nurse at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. She also did private duty nursing and was an office nurse in Newark for both Dr. Milton Elzufon and Dr. Joseph Kaufman. She loved spending time with her family, enjoying nature, reading and crewel-work, flowers, especially roses. Lee is survived by two daughters, Karen (John) Everhart of Houston, Texas and Debbi (Peter) Goodman of Ithaca; and a son David Caster of Newark; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Bliek, Levinus - Levinus (Vin) Frank Bliek, 78, of Marion, died November 14, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane (Wood) Bliek; sons, Gerald (Jane) Bliek of Williamson, and Robert (Kathleen) Bliek of Sodus; daughters, Elaine (Jacob) DeVries of Williamson, Sandra (Paul) Saracen of Marion, Lynn (Stephen) Clark of Remsen; grandchildren and great-grandchldren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased (1977) by his first wife, Dorothy Keukelaar Bliek. Vin was a farmer who lived most of his life in the family home on East Townline Road in Williamson, before moving to Marion after his retirement. In addition, he was the Williamson Highway Superintendent in the 1960's. He worked many years at Williamson Lumber Company. He later worked at Seneca Foods and during retirement remained active by working at Stanton Farms in Marion. He was a member of East Williamson Fire Dept. and the Holland American Club. He was an honorary member of the American Legion. He was a daily patron of Mary Ellen's Cafe in Marion, where he heard the latest news and shared stories. Interment in Sunnyside Cemetery, Williamson.

Walden, Beverly - Beverly Jane Walden, 74, of Sodus, died November 18, 2002 at the Newark Manor following an illness. Beverly is survived by her daughter Tracy (Carl) Torpey; two grandchildren; sisters, Armeda Bamford of North Carolina and Sherry (Alfred) Hermenet of Sodus; special niece Nancy Pory of Sodus; nieces and nephews. A service will be held Friday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 W. Main St, Sodus. Interment next spring at the Baptist Rural Cemetery.

Friedman, Nathan - Nathan Friedman, 92, of Bradenton, FL, died September 24, 2002. Born in New York City, Mr. Friedman went to Manatee County in 1985, after living for many years in Newark. He was a retired pharmacist at Wayne Drug Co. in Newark. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre and the Philippine Islands. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Damascus Shrine Temple in Rochester, and a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1249 in Newark, and Lodge No. 1511 in Bradenton. Interment is in Manasota Memorial Park. Survivors include a son, Charles, of Bradenton, and two grandchildren.

Davis, Dorothea J. - Dorothea J. 'Dottie' Davis, 76, formerly of Newark, died November 12, 2002 at her Ashton Place home in Clifton Springs. Dottie was born November 26, 1925 in Fulton, daughter of the late Ralph C. and Florence Whiting Jacobs. A 1942 graduate of Fulton High School and 1946 graduate of Buffalo State Teacher College, Dottie taught Homemaking in Adams, Solvay and Savannah schools. In 1982, she earned a Master's degree in Speech Pathology from Nazareth College in Rochester. She was Speech Therapist at the Palmyra Elementary School from 1982-90 when she retired. Mrs. Davis was a Past President of the Wayne County Republican Women's Club and a former Director and Vice President of the 7th Judicial District Women's Republican Club. She was a 30-year member of the Girl Scouts of America. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark, the Raymond-Vandenberg Chapter #100, Order of the Eastern Star, the Pi Kappa Sigma national sorority, and the Buffalo State College Alumni. Mrs. Davis was a past skipper of the Red Jacket Squaws, and an honorary member of the Red Jacket Power Squadron and of District 6 of the United States Power Squadron. She won many awards for navigating. She was an honorary member of the Lakehouse Officer's Club on Seneca Lake. She was a member of the Friends of the Newark Public Library and the Wayne County and Arcadia Historical Societies. She is survived by two daughters: Cynthia L. Davis of Syracuse, Candace J. (John) Stiles of Newark, a son Roger E. Davis, Jr. of Medford, Long Island, a grandson, Anson J. Stiles; two sisters Mrs. Gladys Romer of Fort Edwards, NY and Mrs. Violet Lansberry of Grants Pass, OR; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, the Hon. Roger E. Davis, who died Dec. 12, 1989. Interment in Mt. Adrah Cemetery, Fulton.

Talbo, John - John R. Talbo, 81, of Newark, died October 31, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. John was born February 28, 1921, in Newark, to John and Amelia DeCook Talbo. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He worked for the New York Telephone Co. as an installer and repairman and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was a charter member of the Fairville Fire Department and August Mauer Post #286 American Legion. He is survived by his children, Jack (Lynn) Talbo of Newark, Carol (Kenneth) Wise of Marion, Thomas (Mary) Talbo of Newark, Russell (Jan) Talbo of Lyons; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. In 1990 he was predeceased by his wife, Eloise Bailey Talbo; also predeceased by five sisters and one brother.

Savage, Thomas - Thomas L. Savage, 56, died November 9, 2002 in Orlando, FL. Tom was born Jan. 24, 1946, in Lyons and moved to Orlando in 1972. He was a contractor for many years in Orlando and had served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 766, the Lockhart Eagles 3643, and he was a life member of the VFW. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; one daughter, Julie (Ray) Tremblay; his mother, Nina Savage of Newark; brother, Dan Savage of Lyons; sister, Linda Paddock; and grandson, Ryan Thomas Tremblay.

Braselton, Eugene - Eugene L. Braselton, 74, of Macedon, died suddenly on November 10, 2002. He moved to Ontario, NY from California in 1968 and worked at Xerox as a data processing systems analyst. He taught piano at Braselton's Music in Marion from the 1970's to late 1980's. He was a boating enthusiast and was a Commodore of the Fairport Yacht Club in 1977 and was in the Navy from 1946-52. He was predeceased by his grandson, Kristopher Braselton. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sally; his sons, Raymond (Suzanne) Braselton of Marion, Gary (Pam) Braselton of Colorado, daughter, Vickie Chapman of Macedon; also one brother, three sisters and nine grandchildren.

DeVito, Helen - Helen Lena M. DeVito, 92, died November 8, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for three years. Helen was born July 26, 1910 in Alloway, to John and Mariantonia Aprile DeSain. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She had lived at the Rose Garden Apartments and attended St. Michael's Church in Newark and St. Michael's Church in Lyons. She is survived by two daughters, Angela (Carl) Backus and Joyce (Louis) Bellomo, both of Newark; son, Santo A. (Linda) DeVito, Jr. of Oakfield; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Santo A. Sr. in January 1971; four brothers and three sisters.

Smith, Duane - Duane P. Smith, 56, of Macedon, died November 8, 2002 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He had retired from the Palmyra-Macedon School District where he was the school psychologist and had served on the Committee for Special Education. He is survived by his wife, Retta; daughter, Heather (Dan) Drews; son, D. Scott (Danielle) Smith; mother, Hilda Smith; brother, David Smith; mother-in-law, Lucille Richmond; sisters-in-law Carolyn (Mike) Leach and Patricia (Joseph) Decker; brother-in-law, Doug (Jan Scorse) Richmond and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Duane E. Smith in 1995 and father-in-law Bert Richmond in 1997. Interment in Macedon Cemetery, where military honors were accorded; the United States Army flag was flown at the funeral home in his honor.

Davison, Dean - I. Dean Davison, 64, of Sodus, died November 7, 2002. Dean was born February 27, 1938 in Sodus, to Clarence E. and Sarah Jeanette Vanderlinde Davison. He was employed by Datthyn Farms in Sodus for 32 years. DeMay, Herman - Herman A. DeMay, 102, of Sodus, died November 12, 2002. He was a retired fruit grower, life member of the Third United Methodist Church of Sodus and the Sodus Masonic Lodge, served on the Sodus Town Board for 25 years, served on the Wayne County Park Commission, and was Past President of the New York State Cherry Growers. He is survived by daughter-in-law, Charity Miner of Williamson; special grandchildren, Kim (Dane) Bors-Koefoed of Clifton Springs, Randal (Deborah) DeMay of Williamson; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. VanNorman, Frederick - Frederick Alan VanNorman, 53, of Newark died November 3, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. Fred was born in Lyons on February 12, 1949, son of Frederick W. and Shirley McIntyre Van Norman. He was employed by Gleason Works in Rochester for 32 years and was a graduate of Lyons High School (1967), Monroe Community College, and Rochester Institute of Technology, with a degree in manufacturing engineering. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War in the 1st Aviation Brigade, 164th Combat Aviation Group. He was a member of the Lyons VFW and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; one son, Rick (Jay Michi) VanNorman of Arizona; mother, Shirley VanNorman of Lyons; three sisters, Linda and Cathy VanNorman of Lyons, Cindy (Michael) Preslar of Florida; aunt, Jane Gent of Lyons; four nieces, three nephews; father- and mother-in-law, James and Jean Magill of Lyons; sister- and brother-in-law, Katie and Dennis Alvaro of Lyons. He was predeceased by his father, Frederick W. VanNorman, and a brother, David K. VanNorman. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery.

Fisher, Arnold - Arnold Fisher, 88, of Florida and Newark, died November 1, 2002 at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Arnold was born November 1, 1914 in Waterloo to Charles and Carrie Rice Fisher. He served in the Army during WWII; the Army flag flew in his honor at the funeral home. He retired from Garlock in 1976 after working there for 26 years as a machinist. He enjoyed bowling and square dancing. Mr. Fisher will be missed by his daughters and sons-in-law: Micki and Ronald Fagner of Newark, Jackie and Dick Mastrodonato of Chili, Zelda and Ken Johns of Phelps, Joretta and Tom Gorall of Clyde; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Fisher was predeceased by his wife Loretta on Jan. 1, 1999; and in 1960 by his sons, Robert and Bruce. Interment, Riverview Cemetery, Phelps.

Purdy, Leon - Leon F. Purdy, 42, of Newark, died unexpectedly October 31, 2002 at his home. He is survived by his children, Sarah, Ashley, Leo and Priscilla; father, Charles (Janice) Purdy of Lyons; mother, April Hamilton of Phelps; sisters, Nancy Purdy of Phelps, Tracey Purdy of Florida, Jane Renahan of Lyons; brother, Randy Purdy of Seneca Falls; nieces, nephews and cousins. Lightfoote, Rodney S. - Rodney Squire Lightfoote, 82, of Clifton Springs, formerly of the Town of Seneca, died November 2, 2002 at Strong Memorial Hospital, following an automobile accident. Mr. Lightfoote was born March 11, 1920 in Canandaigua, to William Robert Lightfoote and Christine Squire Lightfoote. He was a graduate of Geneva High School and graduated from Cornell University in 1940. Mr. Lightfoote served as a captain with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he operated the family farm in the Town of Seneca until 1974. He was an agent for the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County for 15 years. He was a Deacon of the Seneca Presbyterian Church and a lay minister in the Presbyterian Church, Geneva Presbytery for 40 years. He had been a Town Justice for the Town of Seneca. He was active in the Town of Seneca Historical Society, and had published a book in 1989. He is survived by his wife, Martha Jane Lightfoote of Clifton Springs; two sons, Robert Hakes (Diane) Lightfoote of Queensbury, and Geoffrey Squire Lightfoote of Freeville; one daughter, Constance Lynne Lightfoote (Lawrence) Gruner of Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Barbara Jane (Dewey) Parson of Morrison, TN; three grandchildren; and three nephews. Interment in Number Nine Cemetery, Town of Seneca.

DeRoo, ElmerJr. - Elmer J. DeRoo, Jr., 57, of Palmyra, died November 2, 2002 at his home. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Bohrer of Oregon, Janet DeRoo of Newark, Tracy Pullen and Dawn Steves of Newark; his son, Elmer DeRoo III of Rochester; father, Elmer DeRoo, Sr. of Palmyra; two brothers, Roy and Robert DeRoo. Powell, Claude - Claude F. Powell, Ph.D. of Columbus, Ohio died October 28, 2002. He was a professor of choral music at Ohio University; also taught music at Campbell College in North Carolina and at Erskine College in South Carolina. Dr. Powell received his Ph.D. in choral music from the University of Iowa in 1974, his Masters degree from Wichita State University in 1961 and his BA from Texas Wesleyan University, Class of 1953. He was a member of the National Association of Choral Directors and of the Music Educators' National Conference and was an avid golfer. Dr. Powell retired from the State of New York where he served as a drug and alcohol counselor for the state's prison system. He is survived by sons, John (Wendy) Powell of Gahanna, OH and Robert Powell of Bryan, TX; one granddaughter; sister Marguerite Conner of TX.

Celso, Lena - Lena Celso, 93, died November 3, 2002 in Orlando, FL. Lena was born Aug. 16, 1909, in Clyde, to Phillip and Ann Caldarado. She lived in Newark for many years and was a communicant of St. Michael Church. She moved to Orlando eight years ago. She is survived by her daughters, Johanna (Roman) Dudowski of Newark and Jane (Mario) Rubio of Titusville, FL; son, Joseph (Darlene) Celso of Orlando; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; a daughter, Mary Rodgers; and her brother, Phillip Caldarado. Interment, Newark Cemetery.

Sayre, Charlotte - Charlotte J. Sayre, 48, of Lyons, died November 4, 2002 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. Charlotte was born April 12, 1954 in Geneva, to Burnell and Helen Jackson Henson. Before her illness, she was employed at Ultralife Batteries in Newark. She is survived by her husband, Walter; two sons, Peter A. Chilson of Newark and Nathan Chilson of Lyons; one daughter, Bobbie Joe Henson of Lyons; four grandchildren; two sisters, Laurie (Harold) Freehand of Elmira and Nelda (Robert) Kenville of South Sodus; one brother, James B. DeLue, Hildagard - Hildagard DeLue, 90, of Marion, died November 3, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer and two sons, Elmer, Jr. and Donald. She is survived by a son, Paul (Barbara), DeLue of Marion; a daughter; Janis (Alan) Skadan of Williamson; daughter-in-law Barbara DeLue of Palmyra; brother Ernest Prober of Manchester; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Pulver, Martha - Martha J. Pulver of Bradenton, FL (formerly of Newark) died November 5, 2002. Martha was born in Sodus, was a retired music teacher in Manatee County Schools, member of the Christ Episcopal Church, and Florida Ladies of Elks Association. She was involved with activities at Westminster Asbury Manor, and was a graduate of New York College of Fredonia. She loved to fish and play her piano. She is survived by a daughter, Catherin Pulver-Sanford and a son, Montieth 'Chip' Pulver, Jr., both of Brandenton, FL; sister, Carole Nary of Newark; seven grandchildren and one niece.

Hares, Stanley - Stanley Bert Hares, 73, of Newark, died October 26, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. Stanley was born April 10, 1929 in Auburn, to Frank and Dorothy Hart Hares. He came to Newark in 1955 with his brother Donald, and together they owned and operated the Hares Dairy Farm on Minsteed Road in Newark. Stanley was an associate member of the Fairville Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Eastern Milk Association, Newark Grange and the NYS Big Buck Club. Stanley especially enjoyed his grandchildren, working on the farm, and deer hunting. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean LeFever Hares; son, Douglas Jay Hares; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Lee and Dean (Deano) Rice of New Hampshire; three grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Dorothy) Hares of Newark and David (Mary) Hares of Skaneateles; nieces, nephews and many friends in the Skaneateles area. Stanley was predeceased by his sister, Gloria Denman. Interment at Fairville Cemetery.

Shipley, Helen - Helen I. Shipley, 81, of Lyons, died Oct. 27, 2002. Helen was born July 11, 1921, in Artemas, PA, to John and Pluma Elbin Koontz. She was a cook for many restaurants and later owned and operated Helen's Restaurant in Lyons. She was a member of the Golden Agers Club of Lyons. She is survived by six children: Shirley (Boots) Mauzy of Maryland, Weldon (Nancy) Shipley of Penn Yan, Sandra (Kevin) Rude of Port Gibson, John (Cindy) Shipley of Newark, Edith Shipley of Lyons, and Tim (Anna) Shipley of Macedon; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Luther Shipley; her son, Norman; three sisters; and one brother. Interment is in South Lyons Cemetery.

Catchman, Marjorie - C. Marjorie Catchman, 88, died Oct. 27, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Marge was born Feb. 16, 1914 to Herman E. and Sarah DeRue Randall. She was a lifetime resident of Palmyra and a member of the Port Gibson Untied Methodist Church. Marge was devoted to her family and friends. Cosentino, Joseph - Joseph D. Cosentino, 43, of Newark, died October 20, 2002 after an illness. He was born Feb. 16, 1959, in Geneva, the son of Salvatore and Dolores 'Suky' Cosentino, Sr. He is a member of the Cross Creek Free Methodist Church in Palmyra. He was the general manager at Smith Metal Works in Newark. He had served with the Army National Guard in Geneva from 1982-90. He is survived by his wife, Holly Holdridge Cosentino; two daughters, Jessica and Joelle Cosentino, both at home; his parents, Salvatore and Dolores 'Suky,' of Geneva; a sister, Sally (Greg) Strickland of Gray Court, S. C.; and three brothers, Mark (Denise), Paul (Carol) and Sallvatore Jr. (Diane), all of Geneva. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery in Geneva.

VanAuken, Aaron - Aaron Mikel VanAuken, 21, of Newark, died in an automobile accident Sunday, October 20, 2002. Aaron was born February 18, 1981 in Newark, the son of Paul VanAuken and Debbie Priebe VanAuken. He graduated from Newark High School in 1999 and was in his senior year at SUNY Potsdam. He enjoyed cars and motorcycles, and he loved working with children and teens. He will be missed by his mother Debbie VanAuken and her friend Craig Brooks of Fairville; father and step-mother, Paul and Kimberlee VanAuken of Newark; sisters Caprice and Laura VanAuken; maternal grandfather James Priebe of Florida; paternal grandmother Betty VanAuken of Newark; aunts, uncles and cousins, especially his cousin B.J.; and many, many friends. Aaron was predeceased by his brother Mikel in 1976; maternal grandmother Ruth Priebe, and paternal grandfather Gordon VanAuken in 1999. Interment, Newark Cemetery.

Dayton, Alberta - Alberta A. Dayton, 95, of Phelps, formerly of Newark, died Monday, October 21, 2002 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Alberta was born March 1,1907, in Manchester Center, daughter of Fred and Grace Frethey Goodman. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and for many years was active with the Newark Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by two daughters, Halene (Ralph) Redo of Newark and Priscilla (Rodney) Wolfe of Phelps; a son, Douglas of Lyons: 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Hoy of Clifton Springs; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred in 1983; seven brothers; and five sisters.

Lewis, Charles - Charles David Lewis, 88, of Easley, SC, died October 19, 2002. Charles was born May 13, 1914 in Gates, to John and Alice Jackling Lewis. He spent his school years in Newark, graduating from the old Washington High School, class of 1931. He retired from Rochester Community College. Gulick, Beryl - Beryl B. Gulick, 88, of Port Gibson, died October 22, 2002 at Rochester General Hospital. She was born September 4, 1914 in Oakfield, to Chester and Millie Humphry Brown. For 19 years she worked for C.H. Stuart, Inc., as a jewelry assembler. She was a member of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Laura (Wilber) Bushey of Ontario, Helen (Vern) Pratt of North Rose, Arlene (Michael) Poorman of Waterloo; a son, Frank (Deanna) of Williamson; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a sister Violet Craver of Scallus, and a brother Oliver Brown of Palmyra. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank A. (in 1982) and a sister, Lillia Mander. Interment will be in Port Gibson Cemetery.

Mayo, Austin - Austin A. Mayo, 3, of Sodus, died October 21, 2002 at Strong Memorial Hospital, following an automobile accident. He is survived by his loving parents, Peter and Karen; two sisters, Courtney and Chelsea all of Sodus; grandparents, Cliff and Sandra Mayo of Sodus, Darrin (Stacey) Batzer of Scipico; three aunts: Pam (Mike) Crisler of Sodus, Theresa (John) Nephew of W. Henrietta, Loriann (Mark) Reynolds of Scipico; two grandmothers: Peg VanHoute 'Mimmi' of Sodus and Betty Flick of Moravia; several cousins and loving relatives and friends.

Haskell, Eraina - Eraina Darlene Haskell, 58, of Newark, died suddenly October 16, 2002 at Newark ViaHealth. Eraina was born May 4, 1944 in Elmira to Claud and Flossie McDuffie West. She graduated from Horseheads Central School. She had worked for AMP Plant in Elmira and ARC in Newark. Eraina enjoyed crocheting, cooking and walking. She was a member of the Church of God in Newark. Eraina will be missed by a special friend, Raul C. Colon of Newark; sons Walter, Michael and Jack Livingston; daughters Cindy West and Karen Wagner; brothers Claude (Janice) and Vincent (Janet) West; sisters Helen Pettitt, Ruth Scriven, Dorothy (Darrell) Tenny and Grace Gonzalez; many nieces and nephews. Forsythe, Donald Jr. - Donald Forsythe, Jr., 45, of Sodus Point, died October 16, 2002 in Rochester General Hospital. Donald was born May 18, 1957 in Oswego, to Donald and Pauline Vacca Forsythe. He was a graduate of Lafargeville Central High School and was employed by Arney's Marina in Sodus Point. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Thousand Islands Bass Masters Club. He is survived by special friend, Sue Bassage; his parents, Donald and Pauline Forsythe, Sr.; his children, Stephanie and Donald; aunts, uncle and several cousins. Interment is in Victory Union Cemetery.

Robyn, Daniel Jr. - Daniel Robyn, Jr., 83, formerly of Phelps, died October 18, 2002 at the Country Home in Shortsville. Daniel was born Oct. 16, 1919, in Phelps, to Daniel and Anna Robyn. He was a lifetime member of the Way-Ont Saddle Club and the Newark Rifleman Association. He retired from Smith Metal Works in Newark and had worked at the Clifton Springs Country Club. He was a former member of the Arcadia Reformed Church. He is survived by a niece, Dorothy (Robert) Crough of Pennsylvania; and a nephew, Raymond (Karen) Phillips of Sodus. He was predeceased by his sisters, Josephine Robyn and Sarah Phillips Salisbury. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Dorothy Jones - Dorothy C. Cullip Jones, 81, of Palmyra, died October 18, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband Harold. She is suvived by two daughters, Melanie (David) Gray of Williamson and Lauralee Jones of Palmyra; three sons: James (Lori) of Arizona; Scott (Jean) of California and Brett of Palmyra; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Noble, Lynn - Lynn 'Fat' Noble, 90, of Lyons, died October 22, 2002, after at short illness. He was born June 17, 1912, in Savannah, to the late James and Lena Tibbets Noble. He had resided in Savannah and the Cayuga Lake area before retiring in Lyons. He retired from the State Parks Service in the Seneca Lake and Geneva area. He was a faithful member of the Savannah Congregational Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Marjorie; son, Wayne of Marion; three daughters, Alma (Carl) Larsen of Waterloo, Janet (Hugo) Ransley of Lyons and Sharon (Gordon) Pickering of Newark; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors; special fiends, Myron Gansz of Lyons and Nancy Noble of Marion; and a special niece, Terry DeCola of Lyons. He was predeceased by one brother, Maurice Noble. Interment in Rose Cemetery.

Miller, Charles - Charles Franklin Miller, 95, of Lyons, died October 22, 2002 at DeMay Living Center in Newark. Charles was born Aug. 13, 1907, in New Ringgold, PA, to Jonas and Esther Reinhart Miller. He was a lifelong resident of New Ringgold, until moving to Lyons in 1985. He was a graduate of Kutztown University and a teacher in the West Penn School District for 41 years. Most of his teaching was done in one-room schools. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Snyders, PA and financial secretary of the congregation for 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Esther Gerber Miller of DeMay Living Center; one daughter, Doris (James) Johnson of Lyons; three grandchildren, Cheryl (Charles) Lasher of Lyons, Kathy (Michael) DeWaele of Clyde and Judy (Ron) Butler of Ashland, VA and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Krebbeks, Kirk - Kirk Edward Krebbeks, 18, died Wednesday, October 9, 2002 from injuries sustained from an automobile accident. Kirk was born September 10, 1984 in Rochester, the son of Dennis and Joyce Jones Krebbeks. He was a 2002 graduate of Lyons Central School, and was a dedicated football player and wrestler. He was a member of the National Honor Society and was in the 'Who's Who of American High School Students' for 2001 and 2002. Kirk was also the recipient of the achievement award in drafting/CAD at the Wayne Area Vocational Center for 2001-2002. He was a freshman at Cayuga Community College. He is survived by his mother, Joyce Krebbeks of Lyons; his father, Dennis (Marilyn) Krebbeks of Clyde; two brothers, Brian DePauw of Lyons and Ethan Krebbeks of Lyons; his 'little brother and sister,' Kyle and Kenzie Alexanian of Lyons; maternal grandparents, David and Mary Ann Jones of Newark; paternal grandmother, Eleanor Krebbeks of Lyons; aunts and uncles, Elizabeth (Frank) Bouwens of Newark, David Jones Jr. of Newark, Sandy Ridley of Syracuse and Hope (Libo) Alexanian of Lyons; great-uncle, David Sappa of Lyons; several cousins; and many friends. Rowe, Harriett - Harriett A. Rowe, 90, of Loomis Street, died Thursday, October 10, 2002 at Rochester General Hospital. Harriett was born July 26, 1912 in Newark, the daughter of Fred and Lillian Cortright Trowbridge. She retired from the Newark Developmental Center in 1981, where she worked in the laundry room. She is survived by her son, Donald (Judy) Rowe, of Newark; brother-in-law, Ralph Best of Newark; sister-in-law, Helen Trowbridge of Newark; several nieces and nephews. Tunley, Anna - Anna M. Tunley entered into rest at her home on October 17, 2002 in her 86th year. She had most currently been an assistant at Sodus Central Primary School library. Lawson, Frank - Frank J. Lawson, 71, of Loomis St., Newark, died Saturday, October 12, 2002 at Via Health of Wayne, Newark Campus. Mr. Lawson was born July 29, 1931 in Greece, NY, the son of Herbert and Evelyn (Mayo) Lawson. For many years, he was a foreman in the construction industry in this area and for 18 years while he was living in Florida. He returned to Newark two years ago. He had been a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Ann Lawson; two daughters, Francine Dennie of Newark and Gloria Humby of Wolcott; two stepdaughters, Marianne Grambo of Newark and Cynthia (Richard) Henry of Lyons; several brothers and sisters, including Walter (Fran) Lawson of Newark; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Interment, Newark Cemetery.

Bastian, Emerson - Emerson K. Bastian, 81, of Ashley St., Lyons, died October 11, 2002. Mr. Bastain is survived by sons, Rodney (Gail) of Sodus and Jarvis (Cathy) of Cary NC; three daughters, Bonita (Allen) Legott of Stafford, Donnalee Fernaays of Salem, Oregon, and Sharon Bastian of Lyons; sister, Luella Mierke of Bergen; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his wife, Dorothy in 2000; brother, Karl Jr.; and grandson, Lance Fernaays.

Perrin, Edward - Edward Russell Perrin, 85, of Florida, died October 13, 2002 under the care of his family and Hospice. A native of Gouverneur, NY, he was born May 7, 1917 to the late Walter and Eva (Russell) Perrin. He moved to Florida after his retirement in 1976. In 1995, he moved to Hernando from New Port Richey, Florida. He owned a drug store in Edwards, NY and served as the Postmaster in Palmyra, NY. Additionally, he sold insurance for the Nationwide Insurance Company. He was a WWII and Korean War Veteran, having served as an officer in the Air Force flying B-24 bombers as the Bombardier & Navigator. His affiliations include the Palmyra VFW Post, Knights of Columbus Council of Palmyra (Past Grand Knight), and the Gouverneur Elks Lodge. He attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness, FL. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Mary, traveled extensively and spent their winters in Florida and their summers in the Adirondack Mountains at their cottage. His survivors are his wife of 60 years, Mary Seaman Perrin, Hernando, FL; son, Russell T. Dunnellon, FL; two daughters, Linda Chaffee of Enterprise, FL and Margaret Perrin of Newark; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Roswell and Wilson; and two sisters, Mildred and Louise. Memorial services will be announced for next summer in Star Lake, NY at St. Huberts Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in Gouverneur, NY.

Plante, Roland - Roland H. Plante, 70, of Clyde, died Friday, October 11, 2002 at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark Campus. Mr. Plante was born December 11, 1931 in Dover, NH, the son of Velmore and Maryange Termell Plante. He was a member of St. John's Church and was a veteran of the Air Force. He and the former Marianna DeFabio were married on October 22, 1953 in St. John's Church in Clyde. He is survived by his wife, Marianna; son, Mario Storto of Central Square and his family; brother, Val (Rita) Plante of Vermont; daughter-in-law, Loujean Duncan; sisters-in-law, Carm (John) Volpe of Clyde, Theresa Ellis of Newark and Tina Lauster of Clyde; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas Plante, who died in 1973; sisters-in-law, Philomena Noble and Josephine Donselaar; and brother-inlaw, Peter DeFabio.

Everdyke, Rodney - Rodney J. Everdyke, 70, of Williamson, died October 11, 2002. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, an Eastman Kodak retiree (1986), and a member of the Williamson American Legion. Rod enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially golf, turkey hunting and gardening. He also crafted many wooden items and pieces of furniture for his family. Nelson, Arthur - Arthur L. Nelson, 76, of Geneva, died Friday, October 11, 2002 at Geneva General Hospital. Arthur was born May 23, 1926, the son of the late Pimpleton and Hattie Nelson. He had worked for the Geneva Foundry for 27 years and had been retired for several years. Welker, Dorothy - Dorothy A. Welker, 86, of West Walworth, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002. Dorothy was born July 23, 1916 in Williamson, the daughter of Jacob and Alice Wilson VanHall. She was married to Raymond Welker Sr. on March 9, 1935 in the West Walworth United Methodist Church. Mrs. Welker was a charter member of the West Walworth Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the West Walworth United Methodist Church. Dorothy is survived by her sons Raymond (Ruth) Welker Jr. of West Walworth, Earl Welker of Newark and Daryle (Mary Ann) Welker of Port Gibson; brother, Karl (Ruth) VanHall of Macedon; sisters, Alma Haak of Palmyra and Gladys Dozier of Palm City, FL; grandchildren Larry, Thomas, Kevin, and Darya Welker; great-grandchildren Joshua, Brenna, Hannah and Adam Welker; several nieces and nephews. Martinez Ramos, Julio 'Rabbit' C. - Julio Cesar Martinez Ramos, 51, died suddenly Monday, October 14, 2002 at Via Health of Wayne - Newark Campus. Julio was born the son of Emilio and Gloria Ramos Martinez on April 12, 1951 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. He enjoyed playing instruments including the Guiro. Julio is survived by his wife Shirley; daughter, Ann Marie; step-children, Betty Joe and Billy Joe; three grandchildren and one great grandson; brother, Victor Martinez of PR; sisters, Luz Maria Martinez Ramos, Rosie Martinez and Carmen Martinez all of PR; several nieces and nephews. DiSanto, Eugene - Eugene M. DiSanto, 64, of Clyde and Oceanside, CA, died Saturday, September 28, 2002 after a brief illness. Eugene was born July 22, 1938 in Clyde. He entered the Army in 1959 and retired as sergeant major in 1987. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Frank (Gloria) of Seattle and Thomas of Sacramento, CA; brother, Nicholas (Beverly) of Lyons; sisters, Geraldine Kemp of Newark, Althea (John) Desmond of Fairport and Carol E. Walsh, Rita Weekes - Rita D. Walsh, 72, of Newark, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Walsh was born May 24, 1930 in Rochester, NY, the daughter of Harold and Hazel Buhlmann Weekes, She was a member of the Finger Lakes Community Church in Waterloo. Frantz, Esther - Esther Elizabeth Frantz, 92, of Newark died October 3, 2002 at Via Health in Newark. Esther was born March 22, 1910 in Newark, to Fred and Emma Hollingbeck Allen. She worked for the Newark Developmental Center for 35 years retiring in 1965. Esther was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church and enjoyed helping others. She is survived by her sisters Hazel Swartz and Betty Ahrans, both of Newark; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John Frantz in 1984; brothers Marion and Robert Allen and sister Evelyn Evans. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Scott, Sachiki Shikina - Sachiko Shikina Scott, 80, of Millilani, Hawaii and Baldwinsville, formerly of Newark, died May 23, 2002 at Kailua House Hospice in Hawaii from complications of a fall. Sachiko was born May 16, 1922 at Pepeeko, Hawaii, daughter of Seiko and Mutaro (Kaneshiro) Shikina, the fifth of seven children. She grew up on Maui and graduated from Farrington High School, Honolulu, in 1941. Attended University of Hawaii 1941-42; Queens Nursing School, Honolulu, 1942-43; and worked as a Practical Nurse. She served in the Army 1944-1947 as a translator with the Women's Army Corps, First WAC's from Hawaii during WWII, in both the European and Asiatic Pacific theaters. She studied at Fort Schnelling School of Military Intelligence in Minnesota to perform government translations of highly secret and confidential nature (dealt with German, French and Russian languages in addition to Japanese). In 1946 she married William H. B. Scott of Penn Yan, in Washington DC. Sachiko graduated in 1951 from University of Iowa with as B.S. in Pharmacy. 'Scottie' was a pharmacist for Wayne Drugs and Newark Developmental Center for 25 years. She worked for the VA in Canandaigua and Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii, retiring in 1992. She is survived by her sons: Ronald J. (Susan) Scott of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Paul L. (Linda) Scott of Kailua, Hawaii; and her daughter Leilani L. (Jim) Beardsley, of Baldwinsville; grandchildren Deanna and Darrik Scott of Memphis, Tennessee; Scott and Jennifer Beardsley of Baldwinsville; Kristen and Kyle Scott of Kailua, Hawaii; and Zachary Tiegen of NYC; sisters, Kameko (Suyei) Mayeshiro and Edith (Blackie) Goya, of Hawaii. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Oki and Seiichi Shikina; sisters, Nabe Takushi and Nancy Chinen; and her husband, Bill (1994). Interment was June 25, 2002 at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Walter, Nancy - Nancy Eggert Walter N2POI, 66, of Palmyra, died Oct. 3, 2002. She is survived by her husband Irving M. Walter; sons Jeffrey (Karen) Eggert of Manlius and Michael (Mary) Eggert of Henrietta; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; six step-sons and one step-daughter; brothers Rev. Clarence Bill (Susan) Carter of FL and Jack (Ida Sandy) Carter of Hunt; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons: David Carter in 1978 and Gary Eggert in 2001. Interment is in Groveplace Cemetery in Chili.

Boyce, Charles - Charles L. Boyce, 47, of Clyde, died October 3, 2002. Chuckie was born February 4, 1955 in Lyons, to James and Regina Duell Boyce. He was a member of St. John's Church of Clyde and had been employed by Key Industries in Newark. Chuckle belonged to the Toy Train Collectors Society and enjoyed fishing and computers. He is survived by his mother, Regina M. Boyce of Clyde; sister, Jean (Robert) Franchi of Newark; brothers, James L. (Donna) Boyce of Hilton and Raymond E. (Karen) Boyce of Pine City, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Chuckie was predeceased by his father James A. Boyce on September 15, 2000.

Greco-Burke, Susan - Susan M. Greco-Burke, 40, of Port Gibson, died October 1, 2002 at Rochester General Hospital. Susan was born May 1, 1962 in Newark, to Francis and Lois Baldree Greco. She graduated from Midlakes High School. She attended St. Michael Church. She is survived by her husband, Scott; her father, Francis Greco of Newark; her mother, Lois Baldree of Georgia; her sister, Linda (Gary) Stowell, of Macedon; her brother, Frank Greco of Newark; and nieces and nephews.

Pierce, Shirley - Shirley B. Pierce, 84, of Palmyra, died September 24, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Pierce on July 9, 1998. VanLare, Roland - Roland C. VanLare, 85, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of East Williamson, died October 3, 2002. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was of the Baptist Faith and the VFW. Mr. VanLare moved to Bradenton 40 years ago. He is survived by his two sons, Barry of Reston, VA, David of Marion; sister, Veronica Orbaker of Bradenton; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ormsbee, William - William Leonard Ormsbee, 62, of Newark, died October 8, 2002 at Geneva General Hospital. Bill was born July 1, 1940 at Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, to late William and Estella Knapp Ormsbee. He was a 1959 graduate of Watkins Glen Central School, and had served for four years in the Navy aboard the USS Compton. He retired after 32 years as a welder for the Getinge Castle Co. in Rochester. He was an avid sports and NASCAR fan, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bill spent several years coaching youth basketball at St. Mary's in Watkins Glen and 10 years coaching for Vince Lombardi Football at Midlakes. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lee Ormsbee; daughter, Brenda (Ross) Jones of Waterloo; his son, Brian (Kim) Ormsbee of Canandaigua; two grandsons; one brother, Robert (Fran) Ormsbee of Watkins Glen; aunts and uncles; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; also by Virginia and Louie Rondenaro, and Ann Marie Lee. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen.

DiSanto, Lois - Lois E. DiSanto, 60, died October 1, 2002 at the Unity Living Center in Rochester. She was born Nov. 30,1941 in Jersey City, NJ, to Lewis and Eileen Schaffer Robertson. She lived in Lyons for 29 years, before moving to Boca Raton, FL in 1995. She recently went to Fairport to be near her family. Lois worked at the Newark Developmental Center for 26 years, where she was a physical therapist assistant and the union representative of the Public Employees Federation. For four years, she was head of the NYS Labor Management Team. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Lyons and was the organist for many years. She was active with the Parent Teacher Association, and had been secretary/treasurer for Little League in Lyons. She is survived by her husband, John B. DiSanto Sr., of Fairport; daughter, Susan (Donald) Kilbourn of Texas; sons, John Jr. (Margaret) of Newark, Albert (Bethany) of Perinton, and Timothy (Julie) of Victor; nine grandchildren; her father, Lewis Robertson of Trapp, NC; brother, Robert Robertson of Adams; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Eileen Robertson and a sister, Ellen Patterson. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.
