Lewis, Shirley - Shirley M. Lewis, 71, formerly of North Carolina, died March 29, 2005. Shirley was born Sept. 8, 1933 in Lyons, a daughter to Frederick and Regina DeWind Schlieman. She was a veteran of the Army in the Korean conflict as a nurse. She had worked for Lyons Ambulance. Shirley is survived by her five children: Marilyn (Timothy Fitzgerald) Barr and David (Joyce) Barr, both of Lyons; Kathleen Matthys of North Carolina; Robert (Sherry) Lewis of Maryland; and Mark (Cheryl) Lewis of Newark; six grandchildren, Brook and Blake Barr, Michael Lewis, Nicole and Corey DiSanto and Joshua Barr; her mother, Regina Hanson of Seneca Castle; a sister, Linda (Philip) Gulvin of Seneca Castle; a brother, William Schlieman of New Jersey; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Frederick Schlieman; a son, Ralph Barr; a granddaughter, Rebecca Matthys; and a brother, Craig Schlieman. Arrangements were entrusted to Weeks- Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St. in Lyons. Inurnment will be in the South Lyons Cemetery.

Lootens, Helen - Helen Joanna Lootens, 83, of Phelps, died March 31, 2005 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born October 9, 1921, in Phelps, a daughter of Felix and Alice Nieder Taney. She attended the District 17 schoolhouse on Neider Road in Phelps. She graduated from the Phelps Union and Classical School in 1938, and then from the Rochester Business Institute in 1940. Mrs. Lootens was a lifelong member of St. Francis Church in Phelps. Oct. 18, 1947, she married Andrew F. Lootens. Surviving are her four children: Rosemary (William) Barker of Inverness, FL; Ann (John) Baker of Bridgewater; Robert (Janice) Lootens of Phelps; Judith (Thomas) Ferrell of Lyons; a brother, Roger T. (Eleanor) Taney of California; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased on May 9, 2004 by her husband; two brothers, Conrad and Joseph C. Taney; and her sister, Mary Alice Estep. Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main St. in Phelps. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Francis Church, with the Rev. Anthony Calimeri officiating. Blondell, Robert D. - Robert D. Blondell, of Palmyra, died suddenly on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Clifton Springs Hospital at the age of 72. Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to noon Saturday, April 9 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 West Main Street, Palmyra. A funeral service will follow calling hours. The Reverend David Herrmann, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Palmyra will preside. Inurnment will be in White Haven Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Contributions in memory of Bob may be directed to The Humane Society of Wayne County, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, New York 14489. Bob was born in Newark, New York on March 12, 1933 to Daniel and Alice DeVolder Blondell. He and the former Mary Jane Massielye were married on September 14, 1956 in Newark. Bob was a retiree of Mobil Chemical in Macedon. He was a member of the Newark Elks Club, the Palmyra Moose Lodge, Newark American Veterans Service Organization and the James R. Hickey American Legion Post 120. The funeral home proudly flies the United States Army flag in honor of Bob's service to our country. Mr. Blondell is survived by his wife Mary Jane; sons Timothy, Thomas (Kathy) and Todd; grandchildren Casey, Brittany, Justin, Jacob and Joshua; brothers Harold (Beverly) and Eugene; sister-in-law Betty Ann (Merrill) Palmeter; his best pals Zipper and Bear; many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Bacon, Raymond L. - Raymond L. Bacon, 42, of Walworth, died suddenly on Wednesday March 30, 2005. Predeceased by his father Maynard Bacon in 2003. Ray is survived by his mother Eva Bacon of Sodus; sons Nicolas and Joshua; fianc Marlene Cook; siblings Jeanne (Steve) DeMinck of Ontario, Elizabeth Gardner of Sodus, Debra Jorgensen of Bristol, Susan Williamson of Auburn, Delores (Mark) Morahan of Lyons, Bette Brown of Ontario, James (Beth) Bacon of Ontario, Richard Bacon of Castile and Robert (Bettyjean) Bacon of SC; several nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and co-workers. Visitation will be Saturday, from 2-6 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus, where a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Spring interment at Huron Evergreen Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ray should be directed to the American Heart Association.

Van De Viver, Mary - Mary Elizabeth Van De Viver, 84, died March 30, 2005 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. She was born in the Netherlands. She lived in Newark and worked for Jackson & Perkins Co. and C.H. Stuart. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Elizabeth Van De Viver, brothers Peter, Jr. and John, and her sister-in-law Mary Van De Viver. She is survived by nieces Dawn (Carl) Levickas, Peggy (Bruce) Semmler; nephew David (Lynne) Van De Viver, sister-in-law Phyllis Van De Viver, and their families. Arrangements were made by the Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at East Newark Cemetery. McFarlane, Dolores - Dolores McFarlane, 71, of Newark, died March 27, 2005 at Newark-Wayne Hospital. A memorial service was held as Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home, Newark. Memorials may be made to Newark-Arcadia Ambulance of Newark. Dolores was born in McLaughlin, SD on July 13, 1933, daughter of Homer & Alene Godfrey McFarlane. She was a secretary for John Bilotta Enterprises in Newark. Survived by her brother, Donald McFarlane of Aurora, Illinois; 3 nieces, Kathryn Johnson and Patricia Gunter of Aurora, Illinois; Jan Robak of Schramberg, Illinois; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Dewa, Stephanie - Stephanie Dewa, 83, died Tuesday (March 29, 2005) at Clifton Springs Hospital. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday, March 31) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St. in Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday (April 1) at St. Michael's Church in Newark by the Rev. Peter Clifford. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery. Mrs. Dewa was born Nov. 19, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Stephen-and Mary Mierzynski Jagiello. She lived on Woodview Lane in Clifton Springs after moving from Warren, Michigan several months ago. Stephanie is a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Newark. She attended Mary Grove College in Detroit and, in her younger years, was a laboratory technician at Highland Park Hospital in Highland. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Alexander 'Al'; two sons, Andrew (Karen) of Plano, Texas; and Paul (Renate) of Newark and four grandchildren.

DeCracker, Gary L. - Gary L. DeCracker of Williamson died March 28, 2005 in his 60th year. A Xerox retiree and member of the Williamson Fire Company. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Joanne (Salata) DeCracker; special son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Julie DeCracker of Williamson; brother, Richard (Pat) DeCracker of Sodus; aunt, Viola DeHollander of Williamson; special niece, Nina (Brad) Cuvelier of Williamson; other nieces, nephews, grandnephews, cousins and special friends. Wright, Nicole Lee - Nicole 'Nicki' Lee Wright, 21, of Newark, died peacefully Monday, March 28, 2005 with her family by her side. There will be no prior calling hours. DeRue, Martha M. - Martha Mae DeRue, 82, of East Union St., Newark, died Monday, March 28, 2005 at the DeMay Living Center. She enjoyed bowling and being with her family. Bliek, Julia Featherly - Julia Featherly Bliek, of South Sodus, died Monday, March 28, 2005 in Clifton Springs, NY. She was born November 16, 1917 in Lyons, NY to Anna (Holz) and Harry C. Featherly. Julia was predeceased by husband, Edwin J. Bliek; parents, Anna and Harry Featherly; son, John E. Bliek; and siblings, Carl & Robert Featherly and Margaret Crouse. Survived by Kathy & Bill Mc Cann, James Bliek, David Frego; daughter-in-law, Audrey Bliek; grandsons, John E. (Julie) Bliek, Jason E. (Angela) Bliek, Justin Hollis; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Kyle Bliek, Diedra & Alex Ellsworth; siblings, Thelma (Henry) Haven, Anne (Patrick) Henry, Harry C. Featherly; sister-in-law, Maude Featherly; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Julia and Ed spent 60 years together on their farm where she nurtured all that she touched - children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends and anyone else who came within her sphere of influence. All remember her cooking and baking which was filled with love. Rigney, Rosalie Walters - Rosalie Walters Rigney, 88, of The Spa Apartments, Clifton Springs, died Tuesday (March 22, 2005) at the F .F. Thompson Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no prior calling hours. Friends attended a celebration of her life this morning at The Spa Apartments Chapel in Clifton Springs. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may contribute to The Spa Apartments Activity Fund or to St. Felix Church in Rose's memory. Rose was born June 7, 1916 in Clifton Springs, the daughter of Harry and Mary VanKerkove, and had lived in the area most of her life. She and her husband, Bussy, owned and operated the Walters Locker Plant in Clifton Springs for many years. Rose was active in the community, as a Pink Lady at Clifton Springs Hospital, managing the Lobby Shop for many years, volunteering at the local thrift store, Girls Souts and many activities at The Spa Apartments. She also enjoyed golfing and gardening. Rose will be sadly missed by all of her loving friends and family. She is survived by her daughters, Joan (Ted) Case Dengelmaier of Big Flats and Leni Walters Richardson of Ouray, CO; a son, William F. (Linda) Walters of Clifton Springs; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Donald Walters of Clifton Springs; sister-in-law, Theresa Swartele of Phelps; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Bussy Walters; her second husband, John J. Rigney; and two sisters, Josephine Buck and Mildred Ryan. Doherty, George - George 'Coach' Doherty, 86, of West Main St., Clifton Springs, died March 22, 2005 at the Clifton Springs Hospital Extended Care. He is survived by two daughters, Joanne (Karl) Jaynes of Newark and Gail (Bob) Bedette of Phelps; sisters Alma (Tom) McDermott of Honeoye Falls and Joyce (Tom) Boddy of Henrietta; brother, Richard (Jean) Doherty of Irondequoit; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rolland, Alice C. - Alice C. Rolland, 102, formerly of Port Gibson, died March 22, 2005 at the Geneva Living Center North. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Port Gibson Cemetery. Alice was born May 3, 1902, in Newark, the daughter of Philip and Emma Trautman and had lived in the area all of her life. She was a graduate of Palmyra High School in 1919, and was a member of Phi, Beta Kappa and a magna cum laude graduate of Syracuse University in 1923 with a bachelor of arts degree in education. She was employed by schools in Homer, Hudson, Skaneateles and Phelps from 1936-64. In 1981, Alice received the 'Outstanding Farm Woman' award from the Ontario County Farm Bureau. She was a member of Park Presbyterian Church in Newark, the Grange, and Senior Citizens groups in Port Gibson and Clifton Springs. Alice married Charles Rolland in 1932; he died in 2001. She is survived by her sons, Roy (Kay) Rolland of Geneva, Bill (Mary Ann) Rolland of Youngstown and Tom (Barbara) Rolland of Vermont; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dibble, Brian - Brian H. Dibble, 43, of Junius, died March 22, 2005 in St. Mary's Hospice in Rochester, with his loving family by his side. He fought a courageous battle with cancer. Brian was born August 19,1961 in Canandaigua, the son of John M. and Shirley L. Fraiser Dibble. He was a 1980 graduate of Waterloo High School. He was owner and operator of his own sheep shearing business, with clients throughout New York and Pennsylvania. He was raised in the Bahai Faith. He is survived by his wife Beth A. (Olsowske) Dibble; three daughters, Amanda Williams, Katlyn Dibble and Madeline Dibble, all at home; his mother Shirley L. Dibble of Waterloo; seven brothers: Martin (Margaret) Dibble of Idaho; Tom (Charlotte) Dibble of Irondequoit; John C. Dibble of Sodus; Allen (Pam) Dibble of Palmyra; Earl (Deb) Dibble of Montana; Dan (Joni) Dibble of Waterloo; Bruce (Betty) Dibble of Sodus; four sisters: Judy (Steve) Green of Waterloo; Elfa (Bob) Buggey of Fairbanks, Alaska; Becky Dibble of North Carolina; Lauretta (Russ) George of North Carolina; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, John M. Dibble; and one sister, Carol Dibble Ward. Arrangements entrusted to the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. Foote, Wilford S. - Wilford S. Foote, 72, of Sodus died on March 22, 2005 in the Newark Hospital. He was predeceased by his daughter, Patti Jo; son, William and brother, Robert. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Donald) Lessord; grandchildren, Serena Lessord (Kevin Balch) and Michelle (Timothy) Cramer; great-grandchildren Katlyn & Cory Chilson, Cierra Balch, Jena & Ethan Cramer, all of Sodus; sisters Anna Kelly of Sodus Center, Shirley Bushart of East Williamson and Mary (Skip) Putman of Sodus Center; brother, Edward (Nancy) Foote of VA; sister-in-law, Betty Foote of Sodus Center; special companion, Aileen Wood of Sodus; several nieces and nephews. Thompson, Florence I. - Florence Irene Thompson, 92, of Newark and formerly of Savannah, died Tuesday (March 22, 2005) at the DeMay Living Center. Funeral services will be at the funeral home a 1 p.m. on Saturday (March 26). Burial will be in Huron Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson was born January 19,1913 in Sodus the daughter of Frank and Anna Wolvin Gilluly. For many years, she and her husband operated the Thompson IGA in Savannah. They retired in 1977. She is survived by two sons William 'Tommy' (Kathy) of Lyons and Michael of Newark, a daughter Sharon Matthews of Sanford, Fl., five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, sister Thelma Krickmire of Watertown, nieces and nephews. Florence was predeceased by her husband William George Thompson in 1996.

Bendschneider, William A. - William A. Bendschneider, 57, of Sodus, died at his home on March 21, 2005. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the Navy as a SeaBee, and a Xerox employee. Survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 36 years, Elaine (McGuire) Bendschneider; special children, William (Beth) Bendschneider of Ontario, Beau (Sarah) Bendschneider of Williamson; mother, Mildred Bendschneider of Sodus; sister, Pat (Ron) Rank of Sodus; niece, Lisa (Bud) Bristol & their children, Dustin, Donovan and Gunnar; nephew, Clint Rank of Palmyra; special friends, Richard and Joanne Whitbourne of Ontario; many other special friends. Paone, James R. - James R. Paone, 87, of West Union Street, Newark, died Saturday (March 19, 2005) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Arrangements by Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St. in Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial is being held this morning at 10 a.m. St. Michael's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Peter Clifford. Mr. Paone was born Aug. 16, 1917 in Newark, the son of John and Mary Paone. He was a printer for Bloomer Brothers, retiring in 1983. Jim was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of the Arcadia Memorial Post VFW. An Army veteran, Jim served throughout Europe from the Normandy invasion until the end of World War II. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Portia Buragina Paone; sister, Jennie Guernsey of Tustin, CA, four sisters-in-law, Rosalie Paone of Rochester, Ann (Carl) Conklin, Jeanette (Paul) Staples and Angeline (John) Yaniri, all of Newark; brother-in-law, James Buragina of Syracuse; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Viterise was born the son of the late Frank and Grace (Thomas) Viterise on July 17, 1911 in Rochester, NY. Mr. Viterise moved to Claremont, NH from Garden City, KS in 1998. Prior to WWII, he was a self-employed shoe cobbler. He was drafted into the United State Army where he served in two theatres, the European and Pacific from 1944 to 1946. The funeral home proudly flies the Army flag in honor of his service to our country. Following his discharge, he was employed as a shoemaker by the Newark Developmental Center in Newark, where he was employed for 25 years retiring in 1976. In 1941, he married the former Lois Jean Muzzy and together they celebrated their 50 years of marriage in 1991. She predeceased him on August 13, 1993. Mr. Viterise had a passion for woodworking and was always creating projects that were given to his friends and neighbors. He was a patriotic man, who loved his country. That was evident in his work with the VFW Post 2883 in Newark, where he was a life member and past commander. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 286 in Newark. Mr. Viterise will be remembered by his sons Dr. Gary (Anita) Viterise of Claremont, NH and Kevin M. Viterise of Lincoln NB; three grandchildren, Jenni (Shawn) Meadows, Susie (Justin) Kastner and Katie Viterise; three great-grandchildren Jacob and Emilee Meadows and Ian Viterise Kastner; three sisters Rose Ruscio, Katherine Viterise and Jeannette Wells all of Rochester; many nieces and nephews. Besides being predeceased by his wife, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Ralph and Joseph Viterise. Arrangements were also assisted by the Roy Funeral Home, Claremont, NH.

Rood, Sandra J. - Sandra Jean Rood, 64, of Fairville, died suddenly on March 19, 2005 in the ER at Newark Hospital. Sandra was born the daughter of the late John and Hazel (McDonald) VanHoute on March 7, 1941 in Macedon, NY. She enjoyed working in her garden, knitting and traveling with he husband. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life. Sandra will be remembered by her husband of 43 year, Norman J. Rood; son Eric Rood of Fairville; daughter and son-in-law Deborah and James Austin of Pulaski; grandchildren Joshua and Amanda Rood, Robert, Samantha and Joseph Austin; brother John VanHoute of Macedon. Manges, Kenny - Kenny L. Manges, 91, of Queensbury (formerly Newark) passed away on Friday, March 4, 2005 at Glens Falls Hospital. Kenny retired after many years of faithful service from the Wayne Drug Company in Newark. He was an avid song writer. He wrote many songs that were recorded by Ray Rivera, who is now performing in New York City. His songs include 'When Woman is Blue', 'Eavesdropping', 'The Greatest Gift of All', and 'Trouble, Trouble'. He also wrote many poems and cartoons that were published in national publications such as the National Enquirer and Reader's Digest. In addition, he wrote numerous search-a-word puzzles that were published regularly. He was a member and past president of the Wayne County Motorcycle Club. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gladys (Brown) Manges of Queensbury (formerly Newark), two daughters, Bonnie Williamson of Hartford, NY and Judi Walker of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Theresa McDowell of Cheney, WA, Colleen Williams of Red Creek, NY, and Kerri Towers of New York City; and five great grandchildren, Amanda, Megan, and Madison McDowell, and Christopher and Ritchie Williams. Kenny was a long time member of the Queensbury United Methodist Church. A memorial service was held on March 6 at the Queensbury United Methodist Church, Aviation Road, Queensbury, NY. Ramsperger, Vincent - Vincent B. Ramsperger, 59, of Union Springs/Auburn, died March 14, 2005 at the Auburn Memorial Hospital. He worked in Newark for America's Matterss & Furniture. Vincent was born to Robert and Anne Burke Ramsperger on February 23, 1946 in Rochester, NY. He was a salesman and loved being a salesman, last selling for America's Mattress & Furniture in Newark until he got sick. He was an avid family historian. Vince was President of the Auburn Sandlot League. A devoted volunteer and supporter of the Rochester Open Door Mission. He is survived by his wife of 18 years Doris of Auburn, five suns Vincent (Christina) of Grand Island, NY, Robert of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, John (Twang) of Raliegh NC, James and Jacob both of Auburn; two daughters Victoria and Catherine both of Auburn; 5 grandchildren; 4 brothers Robert of Rochester, Ronabi of Coco Beach Fl, John (Debra) and Edward (JoAnne) both of Rochester and two sisters Diane Allen and Catherine (Lionel) Andalo both of Rochester; numerous nieces and nephews; dear friends Don and Norma Harvey of Union Springs and Leon Rider of Rochester. Clingerman, Jeannette - Jeannette Ernestine Wolven Clingerman, 80, of West Water Street, Lyons died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at the NewarkWayne Community Hospital. Born November 30, 1924, the eldest daughter of the late Ernest and C. Edna Elwood Wolven of North Rose. She graduated from Rochester School of Nursing and Finger Lakes Community College, Nursing Degree Program. She worked at the E.J. Barber Hospital in Lyons, General Electric in Clyde, the Lyons Community Hospital and the Newark Developmental; Center, retiring in 1989. Jeanette strove towards improving the health and quality of life for her patients and for senior citizens, particularly in her retirement years. She enjoyed providing hospitality, ranging from dinners to picnics for extended family and friends. Jeanette was actively involved with the Lyons United Methodist Church, North Rose Methodist OASIS, Senior Citizens Action Council, Office for the Aging, and Caring Friends. She was a 2003 recipient of the Lyons Quality of Life Coalition Award. She was a member of the Lyons Business and Professional Women and a past leader of the Lyons Junior Girl Scout Troop. She is survived by her son, Neil of Lyons; daughter, Audry (James) Barber of Lyons; sister-in-law Veronica Clingerman; dedicated friend Linda DeWolf; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Wayne C. Clingerman in 1990; sister, Joyce E. DeJohn; brother-and sister-in-law Milford 'Max' and Ruth Clingerman, and brother-in-law Carl 'Bicket' Clingerman.

Yost, Robert Sr. - Robert L. Yost, Sr., 71, of Port Gibson/Palmyra died on March 15, 2005 at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Bob was born on June ,15, 1933 in Newark, New York to Arthur and Mary VanDermortel Yost. He and the former Charlotte May McNeill were married on May 30, 1959 in the Port Gibson United Methodist Church. Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy; a member of the James R. Hickey Post #120 of the American Legion and a member and past commander of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #6778. He volunteered for several years as a driver for patients of the VA Hospital. The funeral home proudly flies the United States Navy flag in honor of Bob's service to his country during the Korean War. Bob was a member of the Garlock Old Timers Club, a life member of the Garlock Rod. and Gun Club and had retired from Garlock after 42 years of service. Ernst, Myrtle - Myrtle D. Ernst, 80, of Rochester, formerly of Newark, died Friday (March 11, 2005) at Strong Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ernst was born in Newark on July 16, 1924, the daughter of Herman and Mary DeVuyst Cook. For many years, she was a bookkeeper with the Burrough's Corp. in Rochester. Myrtle loved to dance and was active until recently with the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Survived by nieces Sue (Allan) Faro of Webster, Joan (Frank) Krov and Moira (Ronald) Ankner both of NJ. Kaufman, June E. - June E. Kaufman, 83, of Waterloo, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at the DeMay Living Center. There are no prior calling hours. June and her late husband, Donald had operated a dairy farm in Waterloo for many years. They retired to Zephyrhills where she was a member of the Moose Club #1682 of Zephrhills. She loved dancing and her favorite song was Crystal Chandlier. Survived by her daughter, Sharyn (Ronald) Wheeler of Newark; son, Richard (Jackie) Prosser of Zephrhills, Florida; 25 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. An avid bowler and golfer, he was a life member of the Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club. Harold is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth of Clifton Springs; three, sons, Daniel (Jean) of Penfied, John (Shelley) of Ithaca and F. Clark, Ruth Irene - Ruth Irene Clark of Clyde, died Monday (Feb. 28, 2005). Friends called at the Palmisano Funeral Home in Geneva, where Funeral Services were held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or to a charity of ones choice. Ruth was born Aug. 6, 1935, and had lived in Wayne County her whole life. She loved birds and had fed a countless number of them. She was an avid crafter and a member of the Sodus American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. You could always find her selling poppies for the veterans. Ruth worked in the health care profession for many years at the Wayne County Nursing Home and later at the Blossom View Nursing Home. She is survived by her loving companion, Bob Harper of Clyde; two sons, Ken (Pam) Vankoevering of Palmyra and Jeff (Laura) Vankoevering of Newark; daughters, Julie Vankoevering of Sodus, Laurie (Bill) Norway of Sodus, Tracy Hines of Clyde, Laurie Ann Persinger of Clyde, Cheryl White of Arizona and Tammy (Karl) Luckenbach of Sodus; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Dillman, Mae Jean - Mae Jean Dillman, 76, of Newark, entered into her heavenly rest on Tuesday, March 1, 2005. Mae worked as the evening nurse supervisor at the Genesee Hospital until she married in 1966. She later returned to the area and retired from the Newark Developmental Center as a registered nurse in 1993. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McWharf Funeral Home in North Rose on March 4. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. A spring burial will be at the convenience of the family. Mae Jean is survived by her sisters, Marjorie (Don) Neal; and Marisa (Floyd) Yonker; a brother, Robert (Bernice) McWharf; two nephews, Robert King and Randy McWharf; and niece, Tammie McWharf. Mittigia, Concetta A. - Concetta A. Mittigia, 94, died March 4, 2005 at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Mittigia was born in Port Byron on December 8, 1910, the daughter of Dominick and Theresa Katallra DuBoise. She was employed at Bloomer Brothers paper in Newark. She spent many years caring for her family and was a communicant of St. Francis Church, and of St. Michael's Church while living in Newark for 60 years. In the 1960s and early 70s he was the flagman at Spencer Speedway in Ontario. Mr. Radie enjoyed hunting and fishing and he loved animals and especially his dog Molly. Moyer, Arthur P. - Arthur P. Moyer, 86, died unexpectedly on Feb. 28, 2005 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Family and friends may call Friday (March 4) from 7 to 9 at the Norman L. He had attended the Newark Schools. He retired from Pilot Freight Carrier in 1981 where he was a tractor trailer truck driver. Art was a member of St. Michael's Church in Newark, Sons of Italy, Rod and Gun Club in Newark, the VFW Post 2883 and the American Legion Post 286. He enjoyed playing cards. Art will be remembered by his devoted companion of 48 years, Beverly Fitzpatrick; brother Dominick (Hedi) Moyer of MS; sisters Angee (Ed) Davio of VT and Yolanda (Albert) Cupelli of Geneva; many nieces and nephews. Small, Rev. Charles Herbert - The Reverend Charles Herbert Small, 70, of Lyons, died Saturday, February 26 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Small was born in Belleview, Florida on October 31, 1934, son of Clyde and Martha Harrison. Small retired from Mobil Chemical in Macedon where he worked for 19 years. He graduated from Colegate Divinity School in Rochester. He was pastor of the Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church and was president of the Christian Laymans union. He will always be remembered for his never-ending smiles and laughter, unconditional love and gift of song. O'Brien, Shirley Ann - Ms. Shirley Ann O'Brien, 65, of 1420 Clyde, died Feb. 27, 2005 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital following an extended illness. Shirley was born June 14, 1939, in Lyons, the daughter of William F. Jr. and Daisy Rotach O'Brien. She was a lifetime resident of Clyde, and had enjoyed working with her dad on the family farm. She will always be remembered by her sisters as a 'great' sister. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Daisy O'Brien of Clyde, her two sisters, Eleanor (John) Palermo of Newark and MaryJane (Richard) Molisani of Clyde; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. She was predeceased by her father, William O'Brien, on Nov. 22, 1981.

Plassche, Walter M. - Walter M. Plassche, 87, of Williamson, died February 27, 2005, in his 87th year. Born at home, on his parents' farm on Van Lare Road, East Williamson, he attended school in Sodus and Williamson, and graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in accounting, where he met Alice Keck, whom he married in 1940. He worked for the Burroughs Adding Machine Co. as his first job. On the death of his father, he returned to East Williamson and assumed the management of Plassche-Ameele Co. He soon bought the family farm, which he operated for many years, raising fruit, poultry, and field crops. He also managed the Wayne Cold Storage Co. and was the business consultant for the Henry Keck Stained Glass Studio of Syracuse, NY from 1956 to 1974. He formed the Plassche Lumber Co., Inc., brought two of his sons into the business, and expanded his operation to Sodus Center, Palmyra, Ontario, North Rose and Newark. In his retirement, he continued as an advisor and consultant with the company, in charge of the development of software and installation of the Computer systems for the business. He continued with the updating and operation of these systems until the time of his death. Walter was a former director and treasurer of Genesee Reserve Supply Corp., a past president of the Williamson Central School Board and was affiliated with the Williamson Flying Club. He was an elder and deacon in the East Williamson Reformed Church, and subsequently, a member of the Williamson Reformed Church. A beloved father and husband, he was predeceased by his wife Alice in February of 2000. He is survived by his devoted sons, Walter Jr., MD (Anita) of Hornell, Bruce of Williamson and Mark (Sabrina) of Mount Morris; 4 grandchildren, Stacie, Matt, Katie & Daniel (Jennifer); brother, Roger of Webster; nieces, nephews & cousins. He was also predeceased by his brother, Stanley (Eleanor) & sister-in-law, Helen. Friends may call Wednesday, from 6-8 ONLY at the Young Funeral Home, 4025 W. DeAugustine, Michael J. Jr. - Michael J. DeAugustine, Jr., 72, of Long Beach, California, formerly of Newark, died February 25, 2005, at St. Mary's Medical Center, in Long Beach, after an extended illness. He was born March 20, 1932, in Clyde, New York, the son of Michael and Mary DiSanto DeAugustine and grew up in Newark, graduating from the Newark High School in 1950. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, serving during the Korean conflict. Michael is survived by four children, Teresa, Mark, Rocky, and Anna Marie; a sister, Rose Marie (Daniel) Stevens, and a brother, Ronald (Julie) DeAugustine; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary DeAugustine, a brother, Robert DeAugustine, and a sister, Elizabeth Lopez. Private funeral arrangements were made by McKenzie Funeral Home in Signal Hill, California. Burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California with military honors.

Millon, John - John Millon, 74, of Sodus, died Thursday, February 24, 2005. She had a special love for dogs, including her Boston Terrier, Tillie. Winnie will be remembered by her daughter Joan (Richard) Cook of Vestal; sons David (Sandra) and James (Linda) Bridgeman both of Newark; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; step-daughters, Gail (James) Sadler and Ann Albrecht; step-sons, Gary (Sandra), David (Linda) and Ronald (Dawn) Nieskes; 13 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Marshall, Teresa (DiSanto) - Teresa DiSanto Marshall, 90, of Palmyra, died peacefully on February 23, 2005. Predeceased by her husband Clarence 'Bubby', daughter Lorita 'Punky' Koyn, sisters Rose Ursano, Grace Trombino, Ora Cimineri, Lucy Leese. She is survived by her daughter Maureen (Jim) Martens; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Nancy (Bernie) Armitage; brother Alex (Laurie) DiSanto; brothers-in-law Ralph Cimineri, Ralph Marshall; many nieces & nephews; several friends on Gates Street. Tiedemann, Margaret - Margaret Bradley Tiedemann, 69, of East Middlebury, Vt. formerly of Newark, died unexpectedly while on winter vacation in Phoenix Arizona on Thursday, February 24, 2005. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret's name to the general scholarship fund at Newark Central School District, 100 East Miller Street, Newark, New York 14513. Born Margaret Anne Bradley on November 11, 1935 in Silver Creek, N.Y., she graduated from Westfield Academy. She earned a Bachelor's degree and a Masters in Secondary Education from SUNY Geneseo. Margaret began her teaching career at Midlakes High School as an English and German teacher. She then moved to Newark Senior High School where she taught English for 22 years. While at Newark Senior High, she was active as an advisor with many extra-curricular activities including yearbook production, cheerleading, the ski club, and the foreign exchange program. She continued to work as an English teacher for several years at North Rose-Wolcott High School. After retiring, she returned to serve as acting Vice Principal at North Rose. Margaret was active in the Sodus Bay Junior Sailing program as well as the Sodus Bay Light House Historical Society. She returned to teaching as a multidiscipline tutor for students with special needs after moving to East Middlebury, Vermont. Margaret was active in the lives of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed traveling and meeting new people with her husband. She is survived by her husband Leonard Tiedemann, sons Thomas, Douglas, Gregory and Andrew; grandchildren Thomas, Jr., Peter, Nathaniel, Katherine, Mariah, Jonathan, Emily and Sarah; brother Robert Bradley and sisters Ada Hornburg and Elaine Martin; numerous nieces and nephews. The family is being served by Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home.

She was predeceased by her husband, Myron Orbaker. She is survived by her son, Richard and daughter-in-law, (Sally) Orbaker; granddaughter, Kristen (Mark) Toor; grandson, Jared (Robyn Wright) Orbaker; great-granddaughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Toor and several nieces and nephews. Tiballi, Anthony W. Sr. - Anthony W. Tiballi, age 89, died Friday Feb. 18, 2005 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Predeceased by his wife Josephine in 2000; brothers and sisters, Angelo, Nicholas, Vincent, Susan, and Emma. Anthony was born January 17, 1916, in Geneva, a son to James and Concetta DelPapa Tiballi. He was the owner and operator of the Tri-Bro Supply Company of Endicott, a wholesale heating and plumbing company in the Vestal, NY area. Surviving are his 2 sons, Jim (Debbie) of Geneva, Anthony, Jr. (Sharon) of Lyons; 6 grandchildren, Kates, Kara, Jami, Jeff, Olivia, and Pauline; 2 great-grandchildren, Briana and Jonathan; sister, Alice (George) Sinclair of Florida. Friends and family may call on Sunday, Feb. 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., in Lyons. Hartsen, Arnold - Arnold J. Hartsen, 89, of Williamson, died February 22, 2005. He was born August 31, 1915, the son of the late Isaac and Ruth Hartsen. He graduated in 1935 from Williamson High School, and he graduated from the Rochester Business Institute. In 1940, he started his business career at Williamson Hardware. Arnold and his son Jim were business partners of the Williamson Hardware for many years. He was past president of the Williamson Merchants Council, did many community service projects, was a member of the Pultneyville Masonic Lodge F&AM. He is survived by his wife June (Eisentrager) Hartsen; son James A. (Kay S.) Hartsen of Williamson; granddaughter Kim Hartsen, a senior at Clarkson University; cousins and friends. Family and friends are invited to call Friday, Feb. 25 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Young Funeral Home, 4025 West Main St., Williamson. A service will be held at the Williamson Reformed Church on Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. Interment will be in Furnaceville Cemetery, Ontario. Curran, L. Donald - L. Donald Curran, of Palmyra, died on Monday, February 21, 2005, at the age of 84. Don was born on December 9, 1920, in Walworth, New York, to Patrick and Minnie Johnson Curran. He and the former Marie Tudahl were married on December 28, 1957 in Palmyra. Don was a member and past commander of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 6778 and a 59-year member of the James R. Hickey Post 120 of the American Legion. The funeral home proudly flies the United States Army Flag in honor of his service during W W II. He was the former owner of the Hotel Sellen in Palmyra. Ufholz, Christine - Christine Ufholz, 88, of Main Street, Clifton Springs, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Mrs. Ufholz was born Oct. 2, 1916, in Yugoslavia, the daughter of Frederick and Margaret Vogel. She was a member of the Rose Grange, the Oasis and enjoyed flowers and crafts. Perkins, Elsie V. - Elsie V Perkins, 92, formerly of Bryant St., Newark, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Elsie was born Aug. 12, 1912, in Rochester, the daughter of William and Susan Boekhout Verschage. She had lived in Newark for many years and had been a resident of the Newark Manor. He was predeceased by his wife Leanna in 1977 and 3 brothers, Philip, Anthony and Joseph and 2 sisters, Annie lones and Nellie DeLeo.

Welker, Mary - Mary Ann Welker, 50, died February 20, 2005 after a strong fight with medical complication. Mary Ann was born April 11, 1954. She is survived by her husband, Daryle; daughter Darya (Stuart) Rotblat; her mother, Anna Copeland; brother Don (Sheila) Copeland; brothers-in-law Earl Welker and Ray Welker; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant son, Tyler; father Merle Copeland; parents-in-law Dorothy and Raymond Welker. A funeral service was held at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home in Palmyra. A 68 year member of the First United Methodist Church, she had taught Sunday School and was active in the Rebecca Circle. Peg was a member and Past Matron of the Amitie Chapter 473, Order of the Eastern Star and a long time volunteer with the Newark Wayne Community Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sally and Dr. James Westfall of Newark, two grandchildren Tim (Sue) Westfall of East Wakefield, NH and Allison (Greg) Leach of Dover, NH, and a great grandson Griffin Leach. Peg was predeceased by her husband Kenneth in 1993, two sisters and two brothers.

Viola, Frank R. - Frank R. Viola, 81, of South Main St., Newark, died Sat., Feb. 19, 2005 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Frank was born in Newark on Sept. 9, 1923, the son of Robert and Frances Misket Viola. He worked construction for Mike Chelenza for 10 years. He served as a tailgunner in the Army Air Corp. Foti, Joseph - Joseph J. Foti, 81, of Sodus, died February 15, 2005. He was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran, member of the Sodus American Legion Post and Rochester Carpenter's Local #85. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Doris Foti; children Caroline (LeLand) VanLare of Irondequoit and Thomas Foti of Florida; sisters Rosalie Acquilano of Geneva and Elizabeth Chilbert of Clyde; sister-in-law Florence Foti of Newark; nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Pal-Mac High School and had lived in Palmyra before moving to Newark five years ago. Carol enjoyed collecting toys and Beanie Babies. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra King and Rebecca VanDerlike both of Newark and a son Craig (Vicki) VanDeWalle of Palmyra; four grandchildren, Chad, Calvin, Steven and Kristi; two sisters, Linda Tellier of Newark and Sharon Tilly of Savannah; two brothers, Paul (Betty Lou) Tilly of Avon and Michael (Lisa) Tilly of Palmyra; several nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by her husband James in 1987, two sons, Kurt in 1979 and Timothy in 1981, sister Betty Miller and brother Emil Tilly.

VanLare, John F. Sr. - John Frederick VanLare, Sr., 81, of Newark, died Monday, February 14, 2005 at his home with his loving family by his side. Fulfilling the wishes of Mr. VanLare, a celebration of his life will take place at his home at the convenience of the family. In memory of Mr. VanLare, please direct contributions to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Rd., Lyons, NY 14489. Mr. VanLare was born the son of the late Peter and Alamo VanLare on April 17, 1923 in Plainville, NJ. He was a self-employed carpenter most of his life. In 1969, he, his wife and son built their home on Turner Rd. He was a member of the Newark VFW, Post 2883 and life member and past president of the Newark Rod and Gun Club. A veteran of WWII with the Army Air Corps, serving as a tail gunner on a B24 Liberator, he was sole survivor when his plane was shot down on his 37th mission, three days after the Normandy Invasion. Subsequently, he was a POW for a year in Germany. He spoke of the years after the downing of his plane as a gift. The funeral home proudly flies the Air Force Flag in honor of his service to our country. Mr. VanLare will always be remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years Shirley VanLare; daughter Gloria L. VanLare (Lasher); son John F. VanLare Jr.; grandchildren Stephen (Erin) Lasher, Suzanne (Bobbie Jo) Lasher, Deborah (Scott) Case, Joshua (Elena) VanLare, Kele, Abigayil VanLare and Emily Perez; great grandchildren Seth, Logan, Evan, Melaney Case, Gabrielle Janto, Zachary, Zoe and Collin VanLare; sisters Gertrude Burroughs and Arlene Joura; several nieces, nephews and many devoted friends and neighbors. Mary Lou belonged to several hiking clubs and had hiked both the Appalachian Trail and the Finger Lakes Trail, end to end. She is survived by four daughters Mary 'Penny' (Gary) Shaw of Marion, Lucia (Robert) Monroe of Wolcott, Marcia (Richard) Maslyn of Phelps, Pamela (Max) Slifer of Colts Neck, NJ, a son Melvin I. (Jennifer) Years of Newark; sixteen grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, a sister Lucia Adams and a sister-in-law Dorothy Gerber, both of Fairport; several nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband, Melvin A. Years in 1957, son Roger A. Years in 1991 and granddaughter Brandy Nash and great-granddaughter Ashley Nash in 1997.

Garvey, Barbara - Barbara Garvey, 65, of Newark, died February 14, 2005, at age 65. Born March 16, 1939 in Newark, to Harry and Edith Brown Murray. She was a 1957 Newark graduate. She had worked at Hanover and Sarah Coventry, was secretary for Dave's Welding Service, and an avid Rochester Red Wings fan. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by three daughters, Margaret (Mike) Balke-Mastellar of Geneva, Kimberly (John) Shear of Newark and Kelly (Jeremy) Balch of Newark; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; her siblings, Alice Hughes of Rochester, Edith (Ray) Canne of Newark, Doris Simonee of Port Gibson, Elizabeth (Vernon) Smallidge of Port Gibson, Robert (Barbara) Murray of Gantt, AL, Eugene (Linda) Murray of Newark and Douglas (Ellen) Murray of East Bethany; many nieces and nephews. Beal, Dorothy - Dorothy (Gibson) Beal age 99, formerly of Sodus, died in Scottsdale, AZ, February 5, 2005. Dorothy was a 1927 graduate of Alfred University and held a Master's degree from Albany State Teacher's College; she taught at Sodus High School a number of years before her marriage to Dr. Morris Beal. She was active for many years in the Women's Association of the First United Presbyterian Church in Sodus, the Twig Association of Myers Community Hospital, The Woman of Rotary, and the Monday Club, a literature review group. She was also a life member and Elder of the Presbyterian Church. Predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Dr. Morris F. Beal. Survived by 4 sons, David (Fran) Beal of Scottsdale, Kenneth (Carole) Beal, of Frederick, MD, James (Jan) Beal, of Strawberry, AZ, Stephen (Beth) Beal, of Pittsford; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; niece, Carol Ross; nephew, Gibson Hufstader. Renckert, Alice - Alice Mae (Studer) Renckert, 71, of Lyons, died February 13, 2005. Alice was born July 5, 1933 in Lyons, a daughter of Daniel H. and Edna M. Wintermute Studer. She was employed at the former C.W. Stuart Company in Newark, followed by the Monroe County Dental Society until 1974 when she went to work at the Wayne County Department of Social Services as an income maintenance specialist until her retirement. She later worked at the Town of Lyons Assessors office and at the Wayne County Republican Committee. She was a life member of the Girl Scouts, she helped organize the 'lap robe' program for veterans, an auxiliary member of the Newark Elks 1249, treasurer, coordinator, and cook at the Lyons Lunch Program. She was an avid sports fan of the Lyons Schools, and an active member of the Lyons Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lyons Fire Department, Lyons Ambulance, Lyons Lunch Program, c/o First Presbyterian Church, 11 Queen St. Lyons, 14489, or to the First Presbyterian Church of Lyons. Noonan, William - William Riorden Noonan, Jr., died February 12, 2005. Bill was raised in Newark, was a graduate of Villanova University, and he served with the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Merrill Lynch. He was active in the community, serving as chair of Bishop Clark's Stewardship Council Investment Committee, on the board of Catholic Charities, the Diocesan Priests Investment Committee, volunteering with the Chaplain's Office at Genesee Hospital for many years, and singing with the Genesee Valley Orchestra and Chorus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne (Dwyer) Noonan. He is survived by his children, Margaret (Stephen) Hart, Elizabeth (Louis) Zicari, Mary Patricia (Timothy) Driscoll, Virginia (David) Hahne, William (Tracey) Noonan III, Thomas (Lisa) Noonan; 17 grandchildren; his sister, Ann Ryan of Canandaigua; dear cousins and friends. Comella, Dorothy J. - Dorothy Jean 'Dottie' Comella, 75, formerly of East Godfrey St., Newark, died January 27, 2005 at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. Dorothy was born August 18, 1929 in North Rose to John and Jessie (Shortsleeve) Davis. A retired waitress, she became a full time homemaker after working at area restaurants that included Caruso's, Crockford's and the Newark Country Club. She and her husband, Anthony, moved to Florida in 1995. She enjoyed political issues and loved cats. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Anthony R. Comella; daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Kelly) and Jerold Goldstein, Scotch Plains, NJ; three grandchildren, Lindsey and Raegan Goldstein of NJ and Anthony J. (Elise) Comella of Newark; great-grandson John A. 'Jack' Comella; brother- and sister-in-law George and Vera Comella of Newark; and cousins. She was predeceased by son Philip J. Comella in 1994. Thomas, Victor W. - Victor W. Thomas, 58, of West Miller St., Newark, died Saturday, February 5, 2005 at his home. Mr. Thomas was born in Syracuse on November 16, 1946, the son of Frank M. and Alice Swanson Thomas. He was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1964 at Syracuse Central Technical High School and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1968 from Colgate University. For more than thirty years, Mr. Thomas taught Latin, German and French at the Newark High School, retiring in 2000. Over the years, he was active with the Newark Teacher's Association and held several offices with the organization. He coached tennis and swimming at the high school and has been helping with the cross country and track teams. He was an avid cyclist and swimmer. Victor had been a elder and a member of the Park Presbyterian Church and a volunteer at their senior citizen home "Park Place". In recent years, he has been a member of the First Lutheran Church in Lyons. Survivors include his uncle and aunt Asa and Elenor Thomas of Phoenix, NY and an aunt Lois Goolman of New Jersey and several cousins. Townsend, Jean R. - Jean Ritter Townsend, 72, of Landon Ave., Newark, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Clifton Springs Hospital. Family and friends may call Sunday (Feb. 6) from 1 to 5 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. A Funeral Mass will be Monday (Feb. 7) at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, Newark with the Rev. Bill Darling celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in E. Newark Cemetery. In memory of Mrs. Townsend, please direct contributions to a charity of one's choice. Mrs. Townsend was born the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret Daly Ritter on Nov. 28, 1932 in Geneva, NY. She graduated from DeSales High School in Geneva in 1950. Mrs. Townsend worked as a medical secretary in various doctors' offices in the Newark area including Dr. Washington. She retired in 1986. Mrs. Townsend was a member of St. Michael's Church in Newark, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary where she served as President for several years. She was also a member of the Newark Country Club. She enjoyed golf, knitting and bingo. Mrs. Townsend will be remembered by her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, George F. Townsend; sons Steven (Carolyn) Townsend of NC, Kenneth Townsend and Douglas (Pam) Townsend both of Newark; daughters Debra Townsend of Auburn and Darlene (Craig) Lischerelli of Fairport; five grandchildren; brothers Fred (Bernice) Ritter, Jim (Dorothy) Ritter both of FL and Bob (Jean) Ritter of Geneva; sisters June Quigley and Pat (Joe) Linehan both of Geneva; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Townsend was predeceased by her brother Bud Ritter and sister Audrey Washburn.

Rensler, Eva E. - Eva Elizabeth Rensler, 90, of Newark, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Fulfilling the wishes of Mrs. Rensler, there will be no prior calling hours or funeral services. Family and friends may attend a graveside service in the spring at S. Lyons Cemetery. In memory of Mrs. Rensler, please direct contributions to Foster Parents, c/o Roosevelt Children's Center, 848 Peirson Ave., Newark, NY 14513. Mrs. Rensler was born October 26, 1914, one of thirteen children born to the late Jeremiah and Florence Batt McCarthy in Cleveland, Ohio. She had several different employments during her life time. The one she enjoyed and loved the most was being a foster grandmother at the Roosevelt School in Newark. She treated and loved each child as if they were her own and called them her babies. Mrs. Rensler was a member of St. Michael's Church in Newark. Mrs. Rensler will be remembered by her step-son Richard (Patricia) Christian of Ohio; 3 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren; a special niece Beverly Andler of Lyons; nephew Bruce Campbell of Lyons; several other nieces and nephews; good friends Ruth Wadley, Pearl Cole and Jean Flock. Mrs. Rensler was predeceased by her first husband Al Christian, second husband Fred Rensler; 12 brothers and sisters including Lucille McCarthy.'

Dingman, Mark R. - Mark R. Dingman, 45, died January 29, 2005. He is survived by his parents, Clark & Helen Dingman; brother, Stephen Dingman of San Antonio, TX; sister, Patricia (Randy) Ellis, of Austin, TX; brother, Paul Dingman & partner, Scott; nieces, Tarra, McKenzie & Devon Ellis; aunts, Evelyn (Paul) Payne, Dorothy Meyers; uncle, Gilbert (Diane) Yates; several cousins & many dear friends. Family and friends called at Miller Funeral Homes, Inc. (3325 Winton Rd. South) in Rochester on Monday. Mark's memorial service will be celebrated in the Interfaith Chapel at Miller Funeral Homes tonight (Tuesday at 7 p.m. Interment, private. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to James P. Wilmot Cancer Center in his memory.

Herrold, John W. - John W. Herrold, 88, of Sodus Point, died January 28, 2005, at the Blossom View Nursing Home. He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy in 1986 and 3 brothers, all of Pennsylvania. John is survived by his daughters, Ruth Fisher of Sodus and Joan (William) Carter of Sodus Point; grandchildren, Ruth (Jeff Webster) Lennox & Daniel Hollebrandt, both of Sodus Point, David (Sue) Hollebrandt of Sodus & Christine (Jason) Huff of Ontario; 10 great-grandchildren, Donnie & Alyssa Lennox, Anthony & Billy Hollebrandt, Danielle Davis, Jason & Hannah Huff, Joshua, Adam & Elizabeth Hollebrandt; sisters, Olive Trometter, Ruth Trometter, Jean Walter, Harriet Smith, Betty (Gene) Snyder, Marjorie Hovenstine, Sue (LeRoy) Schrader, Carol (Dick) Zimmerman. John Herrold was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He spent many years working as a carpenter on the PA Railroad. Once retired from the RR, he took up a position with the Town of Sodus for a number of years. John loved to fish and ice fish on beautiful Sodus Bay. Friends called at the Norton Funeral Home, Sodus. Funeral Services were held Monday at the Sodus Point Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sodus Point Methodist Church or the Sodus Point Fire Department.

Ziegler, Lou - Lou Ziegler, 56, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, January 29, 2005, at his second home in Naples, Florida, after a courageous three-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Lou was surrounded by his wife, daughter and two close friends. Born Karl Louis Ziegler II, December 9, 1948, in Clifton 'Springs, Lou grew up in Palmyra. He graduated from Palmyra-Macedon High School in 1967 and from SUNY Geneseo, with a BA in English in 1971. Ziegler originally thought he wanted to be a teacher and did that briefly. He began his journalism career at the Wayne County Star. Among the local posts Lou held was as editor of the Courier-Journal in Palmyra. Ziegler then went on to work for Gannett in Rochester, for both the Times-Union and Democrat & Chronicle. He was in Washington, D.C. in 1985, after USA Today was launched, and he wrote cover stories for the national newspaper. Lou traveled the country editing papers and has been the editor of The Forum in Fargo, North Dakota for nearly 5 years. Ziegler's award-winning career in journalism spanned over 30 years. Ziegler was predeceased by his father, Karl L. Ziegler, in 1994. He is survived by his mother, Sophie P. Ziegler, of Newark, NY; wife, Sandy, of Fargo, ND; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Laura Ziegler, of Ellenboro, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Karley and Thomas Mott, of West Irondequoit, NY; beloved grandson, Nicholas Mott, also of West Irondequoit. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Diane Ziegler of Seminole, FL, and Charles & Terri Ziegler of Palmyra, NY; nieces and nephew, Jenny (Travis) Whitton, Amy Ziegler, Kimberly Ziegler, and Michael Ziegler; aunt, Helen (William) Decker; and several cousins. He is also survived by his close friends, Hal & Mary Alice Grissum and Malcolm and Lauren Brownell. A private service for family and close friends will be held Wednesday, February 2 at 10 a.m. at McGuire/Hargrave & Murphy Funeral Home, 123 East Jackson Street in Palmyra.
