Flesch, John - John Albert Flesch, 62, of Clyde and Newark, died March 23, 2006 in Rochester. He was born September 20, 1943 in Rochester, son of Albert and Anna Cipura Flesch. He served in the Navy, sailing the world over, and was honorably discharged in 1967. He worked for many years as a contractor. He is survived by three sons: Sean (Kerri Ketcham), Keith (Amanda) and Johnathon; a daughter Vanessa, all of Clyde; his mother, Anna of Rochester; and several cousins. Arrangements entrusted to the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. His funeral service was officiated by Father Peter Clifford, of St. Michael's Church. Anders, Florence - Florence 'Snyder' Anders, 79, of Sodus, died March 27, 2006. She is predeceased by a special friend, Mike Hejl. Florence is survived by three daughters: June (Randy) DuBois of Sodus, Gayl Roycroft and Kathie Grobe, both of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Keese; nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Sodus Rural Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Norton Funeral Home, Sodus.

Comella, Joseph 'George' - Joseph 'George' Comella, 92, of Lyons, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006. Survived by brother, J. Edward (Dorothy); 3 nephews; 2 nieces; and several great-nieces and nephews. Haney, Elsie B. - Elsie B. Haney, 84, of Newark, died Thursday, March 30, 2006. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George; 3 children, Connie, Elaine and Paul; 4 grandchildren, Courtney, Jared, Ryan and Sierra; and several nieces and nephews. Passmore, Benjamin E. - Benjamin E. Passmore, 17, of Marion, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 29, 2006. Ben was born on April 5, 1988. He was a senior, home schooled student set to graduated in June of this year. He had plans to attend Chapman University in Orange, CA, where he was an accepted student in the film program. Ben’s long-term passion of several years had been to make movies. Matthew was involved in Marion town baseball, as well as the Scarlet Knights home school soccer program. Ben was co-captain of the basketball team this past season. In addition to his sports participation, he was heavily involved in his favorite past-time of making videos and movies. He filmed several promotional videos to promote home school sports throughout NYS as well as compiling a photo montage of the home school graduation ceremonies held in Syracuse, for the past two years. He also completed several creative films, which where his favorites activities. Ben was also very active in a statewide Christian youth organization, serving as the co-chair of one of the planning committees. Ben’s most prized possession was his guitar, which he toted everywhere. He has worked to the past year and a half at Breen’s in Williamson. Matthew will be dearly missed by his parents, Mark & Brenda Passmore; his brothers, Andrew and Nathaniel; sisters, Caroline, Laura and Emily; grandmothers, Gladys Passmore & Teresa Smith; aunts, uncles, cousins, in addition to countless friends across the Wayne County area. At the parent’s request calling hours will not be observed and the courtesy of no flowers. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of his Life at the Williamson United Methodist Church, Sunday afternoon, April 2, at 3 p.m., followed with interment in Sunnyside Cemetery, Williamson. Passmore, Matthew W. - Matthew W. Passmore, 16, of Marion, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 29, 2006. Matthew was born on March 29, 1990. He was a freshman, home schooled student and was busily acquiring any type of musical knowledge of musical knowledge that he could, in pursuit of a potential career as a music teacher. Matthew was involved in Marion town baseball, as well as the Scarlet Knights home school soccer program. Matthew had a passion for baseball, piano, and music in general. He enjoyed attending concerts by his favorite artists and enjoyed meeting the band members whenever he could, shaking their hands and getting their autographs. Another of his loves was acting, which he was a natural at. He appeared in several of his brother’s films. Matthew loved life dearly and eagerly started each day with an enthusiastic attitude, especially if the sun was shining. Matthew will be dearly missed by his parents, Mark & Brenda Passmore; his brothers, Andrew and Nathaniel; sisters, Caroline, Laura and Emily; grandmothers, Gladys Passmore & Teresa Smith; aunts, uncles, cousins, in addition to countless friends across the Wayne County area. Klumb, Betty - Betty Klumb, 84, of Candler, NC, died Monday, March 27, 2006 at her residence. A native of Clyde, NY, she was the daughter of the late Vivian and Gertrude Lee, and the wife of Harvey Klumb of Asheville, NC. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, David Klumb of Webster, NH; Richard Klumb of Puerto Rico, and Steven Klumb of Candler; a sister, Linda Porter of Lyons, NY; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sturm, Wilhelmina Louisa - Wilhelmina L. Sturm, 93, died Friday (March 24, 2006) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Friends may call 2-4 today (Tuesday (March 28) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Father Peter Clifford will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 on Wednesday (March 29th) at St. Michael's Church. Mrs. Sturm was born October 20,1912 in Biervliet, Holland, the daughter of Pieter and Maria van Pamelen de Vos. She lived in the Marion and Newark areas after coming to this country in 1950. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of the Newark Senior Citizens. She is survived by her daughter Maria Henderson of Florida, granddaughter Stephanie (David) Sellers, grandson Mark (Angelia) Reid, three great grandchildren and a sister Maria van Renterghem of the Netherlands. She was predeceased by her husband Clemens in 1993 and her brother Abraham.

Ginder, Charles H. 'Chuck' - Charles H. 'Chuck' Ginder, 73, of Lyons, died Saturday, March 25, 2006. Goellner, Margaret - Margaret Goellner, 84, of Broad Street, Clifton Springs, passed away Thursday (March 23, 2006) at Clifton Springs Hospital. Schram, Mary L. - Mary L. Schram, 97, of Punta Gorda, Florida, died Wednesday (March 22, 2006) at the Home Quality Management Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, Florida. Memorial services will be announced at later date in Newark. Memorials in her name may be made to a charity of one's choice. Mrs. Schram was born on October 4,1908 in Lyons, New York the daughter of Jacob and Christina Norson Turnois. For many years, Mary was the housekeeper at St. Michael's Church in Newark where she was a communicant. She had been a member of the Newark Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter Marian (Anthony) Mercurio of Punta Gorda, granddaughter Deborah (Edward) Eddington, grandson, Wayne Pulver, three great grandchildren, Kristy and Megan Eddington, Chad Pulver; several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1971, a sister Florence Dora and Jacob Turnois. The family is being served by the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home.

Dorst, Frederick - Frederick William Dorst, 63, died March 20, 2006 at his home in Chesterfield County, Virginia. He was born in Brooklyn, grew up in Newark, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Vietnam War. He was retired from Verizon, where he worked for 36 years. He was an amateur radio operator, collector of cars, lover of music, teller of tales. He was predeceased by his parents, The Rev. Frederick William Dorst and Adrienne Hougham Dorst. Rev. Dorst was rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church until early in the 1960s. He is buried in Newark. Frederick read the Courier-Gazette online and always loved Newark. He is survived by a sister, Martha Wunderli of Salt Lake City, who lived in Newark in the 1970s; and nieces, Anne and Katie; wife Melinda; daughters Sara and Kaitlyn.

He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Groat Burley on January 8, 2006 and his son, Paul Burley on April 24, 1991. Bishop, Donald - Donald W. Bishop, Sr., of Rochester, former Newark resident, died March 15, 2006 after a battle with cancer. Don was a graduate of Upsala College in NJ, a WWII veteran, member of the VFW, American Legion and Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce for 32 years. Don was predeceased by Harriett, his first wife of 11 years, and Lillian, second wife of 36 years. He is survived by his wife, Norma; children, Donald (Bridget) Bishop, Christine (Steven) Tones of FL, Susan (James) Genthner, Karen (Russell) Watson of Newark, Charles (Bonnie) Bishop, Todd (Catherine) Lilly and family, Donna (William) Hartman and family; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Younglove-Smith & Ryan Funeral Home; memorial service was held at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1549 Dewey Ave. A graveside service was held Monday at White Haven Memorial Park. Day, Robert - Robert E. Day, 68, of Marion died March 14, 2006. Baker, Robert C. - Robert C. Baker, of Ithaca, died Monday at the age of 84. He was raised in Newark and is credited with ushering chicken nuggets into the American cuisine. Baker was a longtime Cornell University faculty member. A professor of food science and poultry science, Baker created dozens of products including ground poultry, chicken nuggets, turkey, ham and poultry hot dogs.

Raised in Newark, Baker worked on his father's fruit farm in nearby Sodus. He earned a bachelor's degree from Cornell's College of Agriculture in 1943, then joined the faculty in 1949. Baker obtained a master's degree from Penn State University and a doctorate from Purdue University. Baker founded Cornell's Institute of Food Science and Marketing in 1970. He retired in 1989. A member of the American Poultry Hall of Fame, he owned an orchard near Ithaca with his wife, Jacoba. Other survivors include his two sons and four daughters. Funeral services will be today (Saturday) at 7 p.m. in Lansing Middle School Auditorium, preceded by a chicken barbecue at Lansing Methodist Church.

Pilkenton, Mary J. - Mary J. Pilkenton, 87, a resident of the Wayne County Nursing Home, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2006.

Friends and family may call today Friday, March 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St. in Lyons, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the South Lyons Cemetery.

Perrin, Margaret M. - Margaret M. Perrin, 59, of Cole Road, Newark, died Sunday (March 12, 2006) at Clifton Springs Hospital. Friends called Wednesday (March 15) at Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Court in Newark, where services were held with the Rev. Peter Clifford officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Michael Church. Margaret was born Feb. 4, 1947, in Gouverneur, the daughter of Edward and Mary Seaman Perrin. She was in the Newark High School class of 1965. She worked at IEC in Newark for 20 years and was a health aide for Lifetime Care in Newark. She was a member of St. Michael's Church. She is survived by her loving companion, Joseph Greco of Newark; daughter, Victoria (Christopher) Case of Newark; three sons, Christopher Temple of Newark, Casey Temple of Palmyra and Craig (Tracey) Temple of Altanta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Nicole, Joseph, Emily and Sarah; brother, Russell Perrin; sister, Linda Chaffee, both of Florida; nieces and nephews.

Dickens, Richard L. - Richard L. Dickens, 89, of 2520 McBurney Road, Clifton Springs, died Monday (March 13, 2006) at home with his family by his side. Friends called Wednesday (March 15) at The Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main St. in Phelps. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today (Thursday, March 16) at St. Francis Catholic Church in Phelps with the Rev. Thomas Mull officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Mr. Dickens was born March 30, 1916 in Canandaigua, the son of the late James and Harriet McClouth Dickens. He was a member of the St. Felix/St. Francis Catholic Community. Mr. Dickens worked for Papec for 25 years and retired from the Ontario County Courthouse. He was a member of the Clifton Springs Grange for 70 years. Mr. Dickens loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar everyday. He also enjoyed furniture refinishing. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lucille Dickens; two daughters, Yvonne Cook of Buffalo and Joan (Wayne) David of Newark; five grandchildren, Ellen (Jeffrey) Gardner of Tonawanda, Alison (Paul) LoVullo of Clarence, Leslie Cook of Tonawanda, James (Wendy) Colacino of Newark, and Michael (Marie) Colacino of Newark; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carlton (Alison) Dickens of Virginia and Foster Dickens of Addison; several nieces and nephews.

For the past 11 years, she gave her knowledge and support mentoring adults and children in the Foster Grandparent Program for Wayne County. Decker, Hazel Mae - Hazel Mae Decker, 90, died March 10, 2006 at DeMay Living Center in Newark. Hazel Mae was born Aug. 21, 1915, in Warwick. She was a housekeeper for many Newark families over the years and was a member of St. Michael Church. She is survived by two nieces, Janet (Donald) Hall and Laura (Darl) Palmer of Newark; great-nieces and nephews, Gigi Frazier, Tammy Roberts, Tracy, Bill and Tanya Butler, Chuck Frazier, Jr., and Nicole Palmer; great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. White, Nancy - Nancy J.A. White, 63, of Phelps died March 10, 2006 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic. Nancy was born May 6, 1942, in Bossier City, Louisiana, daughter of Virgil and Edra M. Dawson Dorgan. She worked for the Newark Developmental Center and was a cashier for the Phelps P&C. She retired from the Ontario County Jail where she was a Corrections Officer. Schlede, David - David A. Schlede, 85, of Route 14, Lyons died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Strong Memorial Hospital. David was born April 23, 1920 in Lyons, son of Arthur L. and Grace DeBuse Schlede. He was a life long resident of Lyons. He served in the Army in the European Theatre of World War II. He was a member of Winnek Post #396 in Geneva, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, NYS Bluebird Society and a life member of the Wayne County Humane Society. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Schlede; daughter, Carolyn (Joseph) Krebs of Tampa, FL; son, David S. of Lyons; grandson, Kevin Krebs; sister, Lorna Hensler of Carencro, LA. LaPlante, Theresa - Theresa M. LaPlante, 87, died March 7, 2006. Theresa was born June 2, 1918 in Sun Cook, New Hampshire, daughter of Wilfred and Eva Felix Beaudry. She had lived in Florida for 20 years with her daughter Theresa, and for five years she lived in Waterloo with her daughter Doris. Mrs. Wolfe was born November 24, 1913 in Phelps, the daughter of Charles F. and Anna Oldacre Norsen. Before moving to Florida, Dorothy was active in many organizations in the area. She volunteered at Newark Wayne Community Hospital and was past president of the hospital auxiliary. Mrs. Wolfe was a member of the Amaranth in Walworth, past high priestess of the Malta Shrine #25 in Geneva and a Past Matron of the Amitie Chapter #473 in Newark. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark. She is survived by daughters Barbara (Ken) Alexander of Clermont, FL, Judith (Edwin) Schinsing of Newark, son Robert (Dee) Wolfe of Deland, FL, seven grandchildren, six-great grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Allen Wolfe in 1976.

Murray, Thomas R. Jr. - Thomas R. Murray Jr., 27, of Wolcott/Alden, died tragically in a car accident Saturday (March 4, 2006). Heidenreich, Martha - Martha Loucks Heidenreich, 75, of Lyons, died March 2, 2006 at Clifton Springs Hospital. She was the wife of Herbert, a prominent fruit farmer of Warncke Road. After selling the farm in 1990, she went to work for the Newark Public Library. Martha is survived by her husband, Herbert E. Heidenreich; son, Gregg (Catherine) of Lyons; two daughters, Bonna (James) McMahon of Penn Yan and Triska Heidenreich of Geneva; two grandsons, Kevin and Donny McMahon; two brothers, Charles (Betty) Loucks of Sodus Point and Richard (Ann) Loucks of Pennsylvania; special friend, Pam Llewellyn; several nieces and nephews, cousins; special cousin and sister in Christ, Elaine Harris. She was predeceased by her daughter, Laraine M. Heidenreich and son, Brent H. Heidenreich.

Joan was born January 8, 1937 in Newark, daughter of the late Jacob and Adriana De Blaere Graybill. She graduated from Newark High School in 1955. Hayden, Elizabeth - Elizabeth F. Hayden, 94, of Cincinnati, Ohio died February 24, 2006. She was born September 22, 1911 in Newark, daughter of J. Elbert and Rose Miller Fisk. Elizabeth was a 1929 graduate of Newark High School. During the war years, she was Wayne County Coordinator for the Office of Price Administration. She also was employed with Jackson & Perkins for many years as office supervisor and was Executive Director of the Wayne County Chapter American Red Cross. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and member of Rosary & Altar Society. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Cincinnati. Burial will be Friday, March 10 at 2 p.m. in the Newark Cemetery, North Main Street. Burial arrangements by Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St. Newark. Mascle, Roger - Roger W. Mascle, 78, of Newark and Sodus, died February 24, 2006 at Hill Haven Nursing Home in Webster. Roger was born January 22, 1928 in East Williamson, the son of Cornelius and Mary DeVey Mascle. Roger served in the U.S. Army, 1946-47, and the U.S. Air Force, 1950-51. Miller, Deborah - Deborah A. Miller, 50, of Glenmark Road, North Rose, died Feb. 28, 2006 at Rochester General Hospital. Robb, Leona - Leona Sherman Robb, 93, formerly of Ashton Place, Clifton Springs, died February 25, 2006. March 10, 1912 in Huron, daughter of the late Charles and Alice Sherman. She lived in the area all of her life. She taught school for the Newark School District, retiring after more than 40 years of service. Leona loved gardening and travel, she had traveled throughout the United States and had visited every continent. Leona is survived by her sister, Thelma Tyler; nephew, Milton (Betty) Lum; niece, Susan (Ray) Davenport; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews; very special great nephew and great niece, Rob Lum and Kimberly Frarey. Schindler, Clara - Clara Brandt Schindler, 97, formerly of Lyons, died peacefully on Feb. 25, 2006, in her apartment at Vienna Gardens in Phelps. Clara was born March 18, 1908, at the family home on Brandt Road in Lyons, the daughter of William and Augusta Bramer Brandt. She retired as a manager after 27 years from the National Biscuit Co. Clara was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lyons, North American Bluebird Society, Upstate Bluebird Society and she was a great lover of animals and wildlife. She is survived by several nieces and nephews; and good friend, Jerry Orr. Clara was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Carl in 1985; brother, Louis Brandt in 1934; and sisters, Anna Metz in 1953 and Rose Eckert in 1996.

Witt, Robin - Robin S. Witt, 53, of Seneca Falls, died Feb. 26, 2006 at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo. Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family in South Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, under the direction of Doran Funeral Home Inc., Seneca Falls. Robin was born May 19, 1952 in Lyons, son of Laverne G. and Mary Nordblom Witt. He lived in Seneca Falls since 1986; he was a graduate of Lyons High School and the Rochester Business Institute, where he received his associate's degree in computer science. He had worked at BB&T Bank of Wilson, NC, at Cooper Industries in Syracuse, and at Goulds Pumps, Seneca Falls. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lyons. He is survived by his mother, Mary Nordblom Witt of Seneca Falls; one aunt, Lois Derbyshire of, Palmetto, Florida and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Laverne G. Schmidlin, Bettyjane - Bettyjane Schmidlin, 65, of Newark - died February 24, 2006 at her Cambier Road home. Father Peter Clifford celebrated a Mass of Christian burial at St. Michael's Church in Newark. Burial will be in East Palmyra Cemetery. She was born August 30, 1940 in Rochester, daughter of Harry and Jean Burylski Webb. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1957. She was a resident of the Newark area for the past 30 years and a communicant of St. Michael's Church. BJ worked in the deli department at the Newark Wegmans. She enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Kuntry Kuzzins Square Dancers. BJ was an avid NASCAR fan and loved gardening. She is survived by her husband, Norbert J., two sons Joseph of Brighton and Norbert R. of Blaine, Washington, three grandchildren; Sara, Naomi and Francis Khai; her mother Jean Webb of Bradenton, FL, a brother, Raymond (Chrissey) Webb of Bradenton, FL; two aunts, a sister-in-law, nieces and nephews. The family is being served by the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home. Sawyer, Dorothy- Dorothy A. Sawyer, 79, of Sodus died February 20, 2006 in Sanford, Florida. She was a member of Church of the Epiphany in Sodus, and the Williamson American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her devoted family: daughters, Wanda Fisher (David Cooley) of Sodus, Donna (Ed) Nellis of Newark; son, John Sawyer of Sanford, FL; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends. Kotvis, Henry - Henry W. Kotvis, 94, of Wolcott and Fairville, died February 21, 2006. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary in 1983 and granddaughter, Kim Jordan in 1978. He is survived by 3 daughters, Janice (Joseph) Sapp of Lyons, Donna Jordan of North Rose and Cathy (Bill) DeWispelaere of Wolcott; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Henry was a charter member and past president of the Fairville Fire Department, a life member of the First Reformed Church of Sodus, past president of the Wayne County Firemen's Assoc. and the Pioneer Gas Engine Assoc. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery. Kathleen was born April 11, 1928 in Newark, the daughter of the late Ward H. and Kathryn Leahy. She had lived in Seneca Falls since 1989, previously living in Waterloo and Newark. She was a graduate of the Rochester Business Institute. She is survived by two daughters, Sandy Morris of Greece, and Sally Morris of Seneca Falls; two sons, David Morris of Jacksonville, FL, Dennis (Patti) Morris of Bear, DE; four grandchildren, Deborah Webb, Kym Morris, Adam and Heather Morris; three great-grandchildren, Rachel, Connor and Sarah Webb; sister, Mary Ellen O'Coyne of Newark; brother, Gerald (Joan) Crider of Sodus; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Clair William Morris, who died May 19, 1998.

Kester, Mary K. - Mary K. Kester, 88, (formerly of Fifth Street, Corning, NY), more recently of the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons, NY, died Monday, February 20, 2006 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. A lifetime resident of Corning and retired School Nurse Teacher of the Corning Painted Post School District and many other schools. Mary and John (Jack) Kester were married Nov. 9, 1946 in St. Mary's Church, Corning. He predeceased her March 14, 1995. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Derry Jackson of Palmyra; grandson, Jeremiah Jackson (fiance Melanie Segros) and granddaughter, Kate Jackson (Nate Bernardi); brother, Robert (Mary Jane) Krebs of Corning; sister-in-law, Jean Krebs; brothers-in-law, Raymond Manning and Tom Kester, all of Corning; several nieces and nephews. Monje, Marian B. - Marian Monje, 87, of Newark, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Vincent House (Comfort Care Facility) in Wayland. Marian was born July 13, 1918 in Palmyra, a daughter of Abram & Susan (Blondell) Cambier. She was the widow of Wilfred Monje who predeceased her in 1985. She was a retired Accounts Receivable Clerk for C.H. Stuart Co. in Newark. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a son, Brian Monje in 1986. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Newark. She enjoyed playing Bridge with friends and neighbors and working crossword puzzles, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Survived by her son, Eric (Karen) Monje of Arkport; daughter-in-law, Debbie Monje; sister, Margaret Peston; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cheeseman, Marian Estelle Parrish - Marian Estelle Parrish Cheeseman of Dover died Wednesday February 15, 2006 at home. She was 84. Marian was born September 11, 1921 in Lyons, to the late Vernon Parrish and Emma Stevens Parrish. She and Bill, her husband of 40 years, since divorced, moved to Newark, New York where they lived until 1956 when they moved to Dover, Delaware. Marian was a successful business woman establishing several food venues in Dover. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and reading in the pursuit of knowledge, and had a love for animals and nature. She loved her family and also extending care to those in need in her community. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Besides her parents, a sister, Vivian Parrish preceded her in death. Marian is survived by three daughters, Carol Ruffin of Nashville, Indiana, Barbara Bason of New Castle, Delaware, Deborah Croft of New London, PA; a son, Robert Cheeseman of Blackshear, GA; one sister, Doris O'Donnell of Webster, NY; six grandsons, one granddaughter and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special friend and companion Milford Taylor of Dover. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday February 22, 2006 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Ross, Olyve - Olyve Ross, long time resident of Lyons, New York died in her home on Friday, February 10, 2006 of natural causes. She was born in Shortsville, New York on December 17, 1926. She attended Shortsville High School and after school, went to work for The Home Decorating Company in Newark, New York. She was active with the Newark Players and continued to perform in Off-Broadway theatrical productions. She worked as the secretary at St. Michael's School in Newark and later became the church organist. She also worked as a legal secretary for Michael Roulan in Geneva. When she retired from her secretarial duties, she devoted her retirement to continuing to play organ for local weddings and funerals. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church in Lyons and was active in their Food Pantry Program. She is survived by her daughter, Leslee Harman of Los Angeles, son Dana Ross of Las Vegas, daughter Darien Ross of Riodoso, New Mexico and son and daughter-in-law Lance & Sheila Ross of Los Angeles. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Bailey & Lyndsie Duemmel, grandsons Sam and Jack Harman, and granddaughter Charlotte Theresa Ross. Calling hours are at Weeks/Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps Street in Lyons on Thursday, February 16 from 7-9 and Friday, February 17 from 2-4 and 7-9. Gehring, George W. - George W. Gehring, 61, of Newark/Lyons died February 7, 2006 at Newark Hospital. Mr. Gehring was born March 12, 1944 in Nurnberg, Germany, the son of John and Erma Seitz Gehring. He moved to the USA when he was 10 years of age, becoming a citizen on July 22, 1958 and served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. George worked for Mobil Chemical in Macedon for over 29 years, retiring on disabilty in 2004. For many years, he volunteered at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital in the snack bar and gift shop. Private funeral services will be held at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Burial will be in Port Gibson Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Janice, two daughters, Melissa (John) Bowman of Newark and Lisa Gehring of Lyons; and a sister, Linda Kelly of Pennsylvania.

Bedette, Randall S. - Randall S. Bedette, 40, of William St., Phelps, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 6, 2006. Randy was born August 18, 1965, in Newark, the son of Robert Bedette and Patricia Duel. Randy was a selfless, hardworking indpendent contractor. He was a generous person who always gave and never took. Most of all, Randy was a devoted father to his sons. O'Connell, Bernard G. - Bernard G. O'Connell, 84, died Tuesday (Feb. 7, 2006) at his home on Peirson Avenue, Newark. Friends may call Thursday (Feb. 9, 2006) from 4-8 p.m. at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will be at 11 on Friday (Feb. 10) at the funeral home. Burial services will follow in the Newark Cemetery. Mr. O'Connell was born on January 21, 1922 in Newark, the son of George and Bertha Schmidt O'Connell. He was a graduate of Newark High School Class of 1939. During World War II, he served in China, Burma and India with the Army. Bernard worked for 42 years at Garlock, Inc. in Palmyra where he was a supervisor of production, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Newark-Arcadia Historical Society where he had served on the board of directors. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine; two daughters Patricia (William) Fyles of Marion, Nancy (William) Altenburg of Syracuse; two sons James (Barbara) of Newark, Michael (Kerry) of Jamesport, Long Island; eight grandchildren, Jessica Fyles of Ashton, VA, Adam Fyles of Rochester, Kathryn Altenburg of Monmouth Junction, NJ, Ryan and Daniel O'Connell of Newark, Colleen, Brian, Margaret O'Connell of Jamesport, NY; two sisters, Thelma (Goodwin) Sheridan of Brandon, Mississippi and Marilyn (Donald) Ruch of Jamestown, CA.

Parker, Marian - Marian Parker, 74, of East Union Street, Newark, died Tuesday (Feb. 7, 2006) at Highland Hospital in Rochester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 pm on Saturday (Feb. 11) at St. Michael's Church, South Main Street, Newark with Father Peter Clifford officiating. Wheeler, Diane M. - Diane M. Wheeler, 76, of Palmyra, died Monday (February 6, 2006) at the age of 76. Funeral service will be held at 11 on Saturday, (February 11) at the Western Presbyterian Church of Palmyra. She was a past director of the 7th District Federated Garden Club of NY State and a member of the Judges Council. Mrs. Wheeler was a past president of Palmyra Kings Daughter Free Library and Palmyra Kings Daughters, Inc. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Board of Directors of United Way of Wayne County. Diane was the former owner of Palmyra Florist, JK Heritage Florist, in Williamson and Canal Village Florist in Bushnell's Basin. A former chairperson of General Council of Geneva Presbytery and a member of the Presbytery's Committee on Ministry, Diane represented the Geneva Presbytery at General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 1991. She had served a six-year term on General Assembly Council of Presbyterian Church (USA) in Louisville, KY and had been member of Western Presbyterian Church of Palmyra for over 50 years where she served as Clerk of the Session for 2 years. Diane was a certified Braille transcriber and taught Braille, transcribing in Rochester and Palmyra. Mrs. Wheeler was predeceased by her parents, Hattie and Herbert Webber and her daughter, Lynne Notareschi. She is survived by her husband, Edwin and son Christopher; grandchildren Jason, Amie and Jeffrey Notareschi; great-aunt Helen Radtke of Pembroke, Ontario and several cousins. Graffius, Lawrence H. (Larry) - Lawrence H. (Larry) Graffius, 70, of Sodus, died suddenly on February 4, 2006 in Spartanburg, SC Regional Hospital. Larry was a retiree from Motts in Williamson. Jennifer was a member of the Port Gibson Fire Volunteer Dept., trained as a fire fighter. She attended Park Presbyterian Church in Newark. Jennifer enjoyed sewing, crocheting and cross stitching. Jennifer will be remembered by her husband of 10 years, Wade Peck; daughter Meghan and son Matthew; parents Paul and Linda DeBoerdere Hamelinck; brother Jeff and Kari Hamelinck; maternal grandfather Raymond DeBoerdere; paternal grandmother Carolyn Hamelinck; father and mother-in-law James and Ann Peck; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Slawson, Jack D. - Jack Slawson, 76, of Wellsville, formerly of Newark, died Saturday, February 4, 2006. He was employed by Fold-Pak in Newark for 25 years, retiring as human resource director and chief union negotiator. He was a member of the Newark Rod & Gun Club. Buck, David M. - David Buck, 76, of Palmyra, died February 5, 2006, at F.F. Thompson Hospital, surrounded by his family. David was born on August, 17, 1928 In Brooklyn, NY to George M. and Irene Mead Buck. He and the former Dorothy Meyer were married on July 11, 1951, in Oceanside, NY. David was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Palmyra VFW Post #6778. The funeral home proudly flies the United' States Army flag in honor of David's service to our country. He was a former member of the Owego Lodge B.P.O.E. and enjoyed playing golf. Mr. Buck is survived by his wife Dorothy M. Buck; daughters, Laurie (Steve) Ellis, Leslie (Scott) Holzschuh and Nancy (Jim) DeWitt of Newark; grandchildren, Brian, Michael & Tyler Ellis; Timothy, Benjamin & Kaelyn Holzschuh and Jimmy & Meghan DeWitt; and his sister-in-law Dorothy W. Mc Fall, John C. - John 'Jack' C. Mc Fall, 87, of Marion and Greece, died February 1, 2006, at the age of 87. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Martha; his daughter, Chadidijah Mc Fall of CA; granddaughter, Elizabeth Gaunt of CA; his Newfoundland, Campell, and his loving family members and friends. He was a member of the Putineyville Methodist Church and a past member of the American Institiute of Chemical Engineering Society. He retired from Kodak in 1982. Burgett, Kenneth - Kenneth Bruce Burgett, 68, of Phelps, died unexpectedly at his home on January 31, 2006. Private burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Ken was born Aug. 25, 1937 in Newark, the son of the late Lester and Florence Covel Burgett. He was retired from Kodak. He was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Union UA Local 13. Ken was a Navy veteran and member of the Seeley B. Parish Phelps American Legion Post 457. He was a talented craftsman working with wood. He is survived by his son, Kenneth (Barbara) Burgett Jr. of Austin, Texas; his granddaughter, Abigail Burgett; sister, Joanne (Richard) Oakleaf of Palmyra; brother, Donald (Joan) Burgett of Ithaca; brother-in-law, Frank Lee of Clyde; and special friend, Elaine Kibble. Young, Toby - Everett G. 'Toby' Young, 83, of Clifton Springs, died Feb. 3, 2006. He was born Nov. 4, 1922 in Phelps, son of the late Clarence and Helen Travis Young. He worked as a payload operator for over 29 years for the General Crushed Stone in Oaks Corners. He was a member of Seeley B. Parish Phelps American Legion Post 457, a life member of the VFW in Newark, the Waterloo Moose Lodge, the Saturday Night Mixed Bowling League and the Sunday I.O.O.B. League. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and country/western music. Friends may call today (Feb. 7) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cheney Funeral, Home, 70 Main St. in Phelps. Walker, Susan - Susan Thielmann Walker, 58, of Palmyra died suddenly on Feb. 1, 2006. Susan recently retired from the U.S. Postal Service at the Fairport office. She is survived by her devoted husband of 31 years, Alexander 'Sandy' Walker; sister, Sally (Donald) Rogers; brother, Fred Thielmann; sister-in-law, Wendy C. Walker; and nieces and nephews Lisa Rogers; William Rogers, Alexa Burcroff and Marcus Fowler. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Jane Schick Thielmann; and nephew, Ian Burcroff. Popielarczyk, Barbara - Barbara Popielarczyk, 70, of Hope Avenue in Newark, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Friends called at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sohn Alloway Road in Lyons, where services were held Saturday, Feb. 4. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Riverview Cemetery. Barbara was born Oct. 31, 1935 in Canandaigua, the daughter of the late William and Alice Lundy, and had lived in the area most of her life. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed making crafts. Alice was always making new things for people, including quilts. Alice loved her family and will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by her sons, William, Richard (Marla), Gary (Maryann), Michael and Timothy Popielarczyk; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Elvita) Lundy; sisters, Josephine McCombs and Jean (David) Fritz. Boyko, Nellie - Nellie Boyko, 95, of Filkins Road, Newark, died at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Monday, Feb. 6, 2006. There will be no services, as per the family's wishes. Nellie was an avid bowler and loved corresponding with her many friends around the country. Phillips, Thelma M. - Thelma M. Phillips, 94, of Marion, died February 5, 2006. She was a member of the United Church of Marion and did most of her teaching career in Marion Central School. Berger, Ralph H. - Ralph H. Berger, 92, of Sodus, died Sunday, February 5, 2006 at Blossom View Nursing Home, Sodus. He was born December 13, 1913 in Sunbury, PA. He was a member of the Pultneyville Methodist Church and the Pultneyville Fire Dept. He was a long time fruit grower in Williamson and Sodus on the RA Wilson family farms. DeRoo, Floyd - Floyd L. DeRoo, 86, died January 31, 2006 at Pines of Peace in Ontario. A WWII US Army Veteran, he served in the South Pacific Theatre. Floyd and his late brothers, Howard and Henry founded and operated DeRoo Food Products in Williamson. He was a 61-year member of the Williamson American Legion, where he served as Commander from 1974-75. He was a life member and former Trustee of the Williamson Volunteer Fire. Co. for 52 years; and Life member of the Northern Central New York Volunteer Firemen's Association and the Wayne County Volunteer Fire Police Association. Survived by his loving and devoted family: son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Dawn DeRoo of Webster; grandchildren, Daniel DeRoo and Melanie DeRoo both of NYC; nieces, nephews and special friends. Predeceased by his wife, Bertha (Roels) DeRoo in 1989. Family and friends are invited to call Friday 2-4, 7-9 at the Young Funeral Home, 4025 W. Main St., Williamson, where a Service will be held Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Private Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Ontario with full Military Honors. Akridge, Timothy - Timothy Allen Akridge, age 29 entered into rest suddenly on January 28, 2006 of 14 Franklin Street, Lyons formerly of Kentucky. Survived by his partner, Casey A. Phillips; daughter, Morgaine G. Akridge-Phillips; son, Gryphon C. A. Akridge-Phillips all of Williamson; brother, Donald M. Huisman, Magdalena - Magdalena Zegers Huisman, 88, of Marion, died Jan. 14, 2006. She is predeceased by her husband, Jacob. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Herman) Pieters-Flowers of Palmyra, Jacob (Mary Alice) Zegers of Portville, NY, Gerald (Norene) Zegers of Palmyra; grandchildren, John (Kim) Pieters, Jeff (Donna) Pieters, Christopher (Lynda) Zegers, Gregory (Shirley Fuller) Zegers, Dawn Zegers; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Verna Baker of Palmyra; and several nieces and nephews. Murtari, Caterina - Caterina Murtari, 89, of Lyons, died January 29, 2006. She was born July 21, 1916 in Italy, to Francesco and Caterina Acone Galluccio. Rice, Stanley H. - Stanley Henry Rice, 88, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Family and friends may call Thursday (Feb. 2) from 6 to 8 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. A Memorial Service will be Friday (Feb. 3) at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Newark, 133 E. Miller St., Newark. Mr. Rice was born the son of the late Earl and Florence Cleveland Rice on April 30, 1917 in Albion, NY. He was a graduate of Newark High School. Mr. Rice was proprietor of Colton Motors, on Colton Ave. and E. Union St. for 35 years, retiring in 1982. Mr. Rice was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newark serving on many committees including, most recently, on the Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2002. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 83 in Newark. Mr. Rice enjoyed camping, the outdoors, working and just helping out at the church and, most of all, his wife, children and family. Mr. Rice will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Doris Hall Rice; son and daughter-in-law Richard and Sandra Rice of Newark; daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Wayne Johnson of CT, Doreen and Matthew Clark of Webster; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers Lawrence Rice and Kenneth (Joan) Rice both of Newark; sisters-in-law Jesse Rice of Newark and Beverly Rice of Rochester; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Rice was predeceased by his brothers William and Francis; sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth (Luther) Reed, Doris (Hugh) Chaffee and Dorothy Rice; sisters-in-law Wanda and Josephine Rice.

DeLork, Anthony J. - Anthony J. DeLork, 46, of Dunn Road, Lyons died unexpectedly on January 29, 2006 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Tony was born December 2, 1959 in Lyons, the son of Anthony S. and Nancy Tobacco DeLork. He was a graduate of Delhi Technical Institute, followed by four years of employment at Kodak and since that time at Garlock in Palmyra for the last 23 years. He was a Little League coach, Pop Warner Football coach, and JV and Varsity football coach at Lyons High School. Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Church, Phelps St., Lyons. Burial will be in the South Lyons Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lyons High School Athletic Program, 10 Clyde Road, Lyons 14489, where a scholarship or fund will be established at a later date. Davis, John Manwaring - John Manwaring Davis, 77, of Pardee Smith Road, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Friends may call today (Tuesday, Jan. 31) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St. in Newark. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, South Main Street in Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery. A native of Newark, Dr. Davis was born April 26, 1928, the son of Dr. James L. and Dorothy Manwaring Davis. After graduating from Hamilton College, he received his doctor of medicine degree from New York Medical College. He interned at Syracuse Upstate Medical Center in 1956 and was called to active military duty in the Army in 1957. He served with the 14th Field Hospital, Eighth Infantry Division in Germany. After his discharge, he finished his residency in 1961 in internal medicine. Dr. Davis returned to Newark, entering medical practice and was a partner in the Newark Medical Center. After the center closed, he continued in private practice until his retirement in 2004. At Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Dr. John served as chief of medical services from 1963 to 1967.
