Hendricks, Esther - Esther M. (Nevlezer) Hendricks, 95, of Williamson, died September 27, 2006. She was retired from Garlock Packing Co. of Palmyra and was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church of Williamson. Esther was predeceased by her husband, James A. Hendricks, and brother Elmer Nevlezer. She is survived by her niece, Evelyn (Joe) Schell of Sodus; nephews, Kenneth (Dorothy) Johnson of Sodus, the Rev. John Hendricks of Homestead, FL; cousins and special friends. At her request calling hours were not observed and the family requests no flowers. A memorial service will be held at the Young Funeral Home, 4025 West Main St., Williamson, Saturday morning October 7 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. John Hendricks officiating. Private Interment, Ridge Chapel Cemetery, Williamson. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Williamson, P.O. Box 188, Williamson 14589.

DeBaene, Donald - Donald G. DeBaene, 84, of Williamson, died September 15, 2006. He was born September 5, 1922 in Marion, the son of the late Oscar and Louise (Brugge) DeBaene. He was a retired Industrial Sales Representative and had been living in Apple Valley, California. He is survived by cousins in Newark. friends. Calling hours will not be observed and the courtesy of no flowers. A service will be held Friday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, 4025 W. Main Street, Williamson, followed with Interment in Lake View Cemetery, Pultneyville.

Chizuk, Alexander B. - Alexander B. Chizuk, 81, of Sodus died at Newark-Wayne Hospital on September 26, 2006. Mr. Chizuk was a World War II Army veteran, served in the European Theater of 3 Operations and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was predeceased in 2004 by his a wife of 58 years, Josephine. He is survived by his children, Alicia (James) Davies and Mary Chizuk all of Ontario, William (Christine) Chizuk of Webster and Amy (Kevin) VanWaes of Wolcott; grandchildren: Gabrielle (David) Davies, Rachel (Robert) Davies, Peter VanWaes, Michael Chizuk & Alex VanWaes; great-grandchildren: Ethan & Jared Thulin; brothers, Joseph & Stanley Chizuk; sister-in-law, Helen Chizuk; several aunts, cousins, nieces & nephews. Friends may call today, Thursday, 4-8 at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Epiphany, Main Street, Sodus. Interment will be in Sodus Rural Cemetery. Stevenson, Donald E. - Donald E. Stevenson, 81, of Pultneyville and Sun City Center, Florida, died September 12, 2006. Donald was a WWII Naval Veteran, a member of Williamson American Legion Post #394 and a Agricultural Graduate of Cornell University. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 30 at 10 a.m. at the Williamson American Legion Post. Mr. Stevenson was predeceased by his wife Jean (Winans). He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Carol of Sodus; grandchildren, Nicholas, Hayley (Ryan) Schaefer, Samantha and great-granddaughter Olivia Carol.

Jones, Eleanor M. - Eleanor Manning Jones, 95, Newark, died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Private calling for family only. Family and friends may attend a celebration of your life Friday (Sept. 29) at 2 p.m. at the Oxbow Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Oxbow Cemetery. Mrs. Jones was born the daughter of the late C. Frederick and Jennie Murphy Manning on September 2, 1911 in Wegetchie, NY. She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1927. She married Charles Jones on Dec. 17, 1932. Mrs. Jones worked as a bookkeeper for Gouverneur Motor Sales retiring in 1994. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Oxbow Presbyterian Church and affiliate member of Park Presbyterian Church. She was a past moderator of the Presbytery of Northern New York. Mrs. Jones was a charter member of Oxbow Historical Society and served as President for 12 years. She also was past President of the Gouverneur Business & Professional Counsel. Antwerp Town Historian for 10 years. While living in Gouverneur she was a member of the Baptist Church where she held many positions. Mrs. Jones will be remembered by her daughters Alison (Frank) Reiners of Newark, Ann (Ed) Eisenord of Williamville and Janet (Ronald) Harrington of IN; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew. DeCann, Robert E. - Robert E. DeCann, 77, of Newark, died Sept. 23, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 40 yrs., Lucy Tavano DeCann; daughter, Bonnie DeCann of Newark; sons, Robert Paul (Maria) of Schenectady; Frederick James of Kauai; five stepchildren, Carol (Frederick) Vonwigan and Kathleen (David) Schlessleman of Kauai; Marie Labombard of Newark, Nancy Lee of Newark, David Colarocco of Las Vegas; a sister; Eleanor Vermeulen of Newark; brother, Alan (Myrtle) DeCann of Manchester; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Ruth Collier, Fran DeCann and Ethel Gale; and his brother, Charles Bailey. He was a painter and construction worker for local unions of Rochester; he was Past Commander of the American Legion of Newark. Parker, Elizabeth 'Betty' - Elizabeth J. Parker, 87, of Newark/Clifton Springs, died on Sunday, September 24, 2006, at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Mrs. Parker was born July 9, 1919 in Rochester, New York, the daughter of William and Charlotte Calligan Kime. She graduated from Webster High School and the Rochester Business Institute. Betty was a communicant of St. Michael's Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Legion of Mary. She was Charter Member of the Clifton Springs Country Club and a member of the Clifton Springs Rotary Club where she was Paul Harris Fellow. Betty was an avid bridge player belonging to several bridge clubs. She is survived by her daughter Sharon (William) Finewood of Newark, a son William S. Parker of Syracuse, five grandchildren Lisa Moorman, Scott Parker, Kristen Nix, Sara Forsyth and Jonathan Finewood, three great grandchildren, John Nix, Isaac and Rebecca Moorman; special nieces and nephew Mary Jane Barringer, Kay Frank and Robert Kime all of Webster. Marshall, Jean A. - Jean Ann Marshall, 61, of Newark/Lyons died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 at the Wayne County Nursing Home with her children by her side. Jean was born the daughter of the late Sherry and Veda Thomas Marshall on August 21, 1945 in Malone, NY. She had worked at IEC in Newark building circuit boards. Jean collected toy monkeys and loved to walk. Before her illness, Jean would walk five miles a day and often would walk to work and leave her car at home. Jean will be remembered by he son Larry (Patty) Kalbfleisch of Newark; daughter Brenda (Peter) Menichelli of Walworth; brother Arthur (Diane) Marshall of Waterloo; sisters Joan Winter of Williamson, Marie Wheaton of Palmyra, Janice (Don) Jock of Lyons and Winnie (Nick) Bruinix of Marion; many nieces, nephews and friends. Swart, Richard J.  "Dick" - Richard John Swart, 69, of Newark/Lyons,  died Sept. 21, 2006 peacefully at the House of John with his loving family by his side. Richard was born the son of Roswell and Evelyn Ingraham Swart on July 29, 1937 in Guilford, NY. He was a graduate of Geneva High School. Dick retired from Tribro Brothers in Lyons and for a while he worked at the Quality Inn in Newark. He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing and hunting. With his wife, he enjoyed watching the Little League World Series Baseball and the Syracuse Orange Men. The funeral home proudly flies the Navy flag in honor of his service to our country during the Korean War. Richard was a member of the Phelps American Legion and the Lyons VFW War Dads. Richard will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 27 years Beverly Bouwens Swart; sons James and his friend Angie of Phelps and John (Danielle) Swart of NC; daughters Jeannine (George) Moriarty of Romulus and Jessie (Robert) Quinonez of Branch Port; step-sons Jeffery (Christine) Johnson of NJ and Greg Johnson of NC; step-daughter Brenda (Steve) Mullin of Clifton Springs; 16 grandchildren and one very special great granddaughter Amber Johnson; mother Evelyn Swart of Geneva; brothers Doug Swart of Penfield and Kenneth Swart of Lyons; sister Mary Stone of Waterloo; many nieces and nephews. Barrett, Elizabeth M. - Elizabeth M. 'Liz' Barrett, 89, died on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at the home of her son Daniel. Mrs. Barrett was born on June 15, 1917, in Malone, New York the daughter of John W. and Nina Chapin Murphy. She graduated from Marywood College in Scranton PA and did her graduate work at New York State University at Brockport. Mrs. Barrett retired in 1981, from the Williamson Central School where she taught reading for over 20 years. Liz was a communicant of St. Michael's Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and with the Martha Ministry. She was also a member of both the Rosary and Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. For many years, she volunteered at St. Michael's School and the Newark Food Closet. She is survived by four sons John 'Josh' (Mary Lee) Jr. of Newark, James (Katie) of Durango CO, Timothy (Kathleen) of Syracuse, Daniel (Cyndi) of Newark; two daughters Anne (Tim) McClain of Troy, MI and Kathleen (Bruce) Bradley of Newark, sixteen grandchildren, two step grandchildren, a brother John (Folly) Murphy of Malone, several nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband The Honorable J. Willis Barrett in 1992 and a daughter Mary Elizabeth in 1995, two sisters Mary Murphy and Kathleen O'Leary. Trask, Ralph - Ralph E. Trask, 73, East Palmyra, entered into rest Sept. 17, 2006. He retired from Garlock's, was a member of the East Palmyra Fire Department and a veteran. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy; his sons, Randy (Jennie) of Newark, Richard (Lucinda) of Ontario, Kenneth (Lisa) of Newark and Thomas (Tara) of Newark, 6 grandchildren, 2 sisters, a brother and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, at 3 p.m., at the East Palmyra Fire Department, Tellier Rd., East Palmyra. Collier, Ruth L. (DeCann) - Collier Ruth L. (DeCann) Collier, 86, of Wolcott/Williamson, died September 12, 2006. Ruth was an employee at Garlock Inc. of Palmyra for many years. In later years she owned and operated her salon called The Pampered Doll on Main St. In Williamson. Survivors include her loving and devoted family: son, Charles (Mary Ann) Swan of Overland Park, KS; daughters, Donelda (William) Tierney of Albuquerque, NM, Cheryl (Don) Picotte of Wolcott, whom she had made her home with; 10 grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; sister, Eleanor (William) Vermeulen of Newark; brothers, Bob (Lucille) DeCann of Newark, Alan (Myrtle) DeCann of Newark; several nieces, nephews and special friends. Krasinski, Henry T. Jr. - Henry T. Krasinski Jr., 55, of Wolcott died suddenly at his home on September 13, 2006. He is survived by his mother, Roseann Krasinski of Wolcott; 2 brothers, Robert (Susan) of Ontario and Jamesof Wolcott; his grandmother, Rosalie Zemiak of Wolcott; 2 nieces, Carrie Ann and Kristy Rose Krasinski; aunts, uncles and cousins. For many years he was the owner of Kress Motors in Sodus. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Wolcott. Robson, Robert G. - Robert G. Robson, 50, of Clyde died Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at the DeMay Lving Center in Newark. There were no prior calling hours. Friends attended a memorial service Tuesday at the Bans Funeral Home, 87 West Genesee Street, Clyde. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Cayuga. Mr. Robson is survived by his children, Robert Thomas Robson of Newark, Bonnie Robson of Palmyra, Emily Robson of Clyde, Britney Ford of Newark and Nicole of Phoenix; mother, Pearl Angelo of Newark; brother, Thomas Robson of Wolcott; and sister, Millie King of Louisiana, six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Baker, Pamela Lee - Pamela Lee Baker, 34, of Sodus/Clyde died Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at her home in Sodus. Pam was born August 13, 1972, in Newark, the daughter of David and Bonnie Stubbs Pitts. A graduate of Clyde High School, she received an associates in applied science degree with a major in chemical dependency counseling from Finger Lakes Community College. She had worked at Hannick Hall in Newark before moving to the Seattle, WA area where she worked. She returned to this area a couple of years ago due to her health. Pam is survived by a special friend, Tim Watkins of Sodus; her parents, David and Bonnie of Clyde; her grandmother, Maybelle Pitts of Wolcott; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours were held at the Christ Community Church, West Genesee Street, Clyde, where funeral services followed with Pastor Rattray officiating. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Bendschnelder, Mildred H. - Mildred H. Bendschnelder, 86, of Sodus, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to her heavenly home September 1, 2006. She was predeceased by husband Alfred in 1998 and son William in 2005. Survivors include her loving and devoted daughter Patricia (Ronald) Rank and daughter-in law Elaine Bendschneider all of Sodus, foster-daughter Mary (Tom) Nortier; grandchildren: Lisa (Bud) Bristol of Sodus Clinton Rank of East Palmyra, William (Beth) Bendschneider of Ontario and Beau (Sarah) Bendschneider of Williamson; four great grandsons: Dustin, Donovan and Gunnar Bristol and Logan Bendschneider; one nephew and many nieces. At her request no prior calling hours will be observed. A memorial service was held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope Ave., Newark on Wednesday. Interment will be in East Palmyra Cemetery. Cravotta, Michael Santo - Michael Santo Cravotta, 63, of Gassville, Arkansas, died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at Baxter Regional Medical Center. Michael was born June 27, 1943 in Lyons, the son of Michael Santo and Alice Gordon Cravatta. He is survived by his wife, Joey Cravotta of Gassville; two sons, Michael S. Cravotta III of Little Rock and Peter A. Cravotta of Tucson, AZ; one daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Troutmen and her husband, Steven, of Cotter, AK; mother, Alice Cravotta of Newark; sister, Rita Jane Sparks and her daughter, Cathy Arthur of Pennsylvania. A celebration of Michael's life was held Saturday, September 6 at the Kirby-Boaz Funeral Chapel, Gassville, AK. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Smith, Betty J. - Betty J. Smith, 76, of Manchester, died Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Betty was born July 12, 1930 in Newark, the daughter of Donald Smith Sr. and Anna Martin. She was predeceased by Melvin W. Smith in 1984. Survivors include two daughters, Donna A. Mickelsen and Denise (Steve) Caster, grandchildren, Stephanie, Gary, Stephen and Jared; great-granddaughter Kylie; a brother Donald 'Buzz' Jr. (Linda) LeDain, several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Calling hours were held at the Friendly Village Club House, Route 96, Manchester followed by a memorial service. Private burial at Fairville Cemetery. Fortmiller, Margaret E. - Margaret Eleanor Fortmiller died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006 at the DeMay Living Center just six days short of her 96th birthday. Miss Fortmiller was born the daughter of the late John and Henrietta Little Fortmiller on Sept. 18, 1910 in Newark, NY. She was a graduate of Newark Schools where she attended the Washington High School which is known today as the Community Center on East Ave. in Newark. She attended State Teacher School in Albany where she graduated salutatorian which she shared with her younger sister Evelyn. Miss Fortmiller worked at the Fairport Public Library for many years as a librarian and also taught history classes in the Fairport Schools. Her first love was literature. During her lifetime she read thousands of books. She often spoke of her father reading to her each and every night when she was a little girl. Each day was a new adventure as she sat on her father’s lap and together they enter the world of literature. In the later years of her life she enjoyed having friends drive her around in their car. She took time to admire nature, watching the buds and flowers bloom in the spring. The fall with its many colors was her favorite time. Miss Fortmiller enjoyed classical music, she loved WXXI, it was the only TV station she would watch. There was one exception, whatever station the Lawrence Welk show was on, you would find Miss Fortmiller in front of her TV enjoying the music. Miss Fortmiller will be remembered by her brother Louis Fortmiller of Maine; nieces Mary Lou (Bruce) Irish and Jane Fortmiller of Maine; nephew John (Marji) Fortmiller of TN; her very good friend and caregiver Sharon (James) Prinzi of Newark. Miss Fortmiller was predeceased by her sister Evelyn Fortmiller and her sister-in-law Onolee Fortmiller. There will be no prior calling hours or funeral services. Palermo, Randy L. - Randy Lynn Palermo, 57 died peacefully Thursday Sept. 14, 2006 at the Geneva Living Center with his family by his side. Randy was born the son of Rocco and Iona Spencer Palermo on April 6, 1949 in Newark, NY. He graduated from Newark High School. Randy had worked for Freund Carton in Palmyra, Sarah Coventry in Newark and Xerox Corp. He enjoyed playing golf as much as he could.  Randy will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife Betty Taylor Palermo; sons Shane (Gina) Palermo of Newark; step-daughter Selena (Paul) Turner of Romulus; five grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; mother Iona Spencer Palermo of TN; brothers David (Susan) of Newark and James (Jill) Palermo of Webster; sisters Mary Ann Connell of CA. and Cheryl (Michael) Stemmer of TN; maternal grandparents Anthony and Marion Palermo; several nieces and nephews. VanBortel, Dorothy Greey - Dorothy Greey VanBortel, 91, Palmyra/Rye, died August 2, 2006 in Greenwich, CT. A memorial service will be held at the Rye Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 14 at 2 p.m. Graveside services will be held in Palmyra Cemetery on Monday, October 16 at 1 p.m. Mrs. VanBortel was born in Amityville, New York on January 12, 1915 to George and Edna Wells Greey. She was a graduate of Amityville High School. Dorothy was also a graduate of Cornell University having earned a bachelor's degree in 1936 and her master's degree in Human Ecology in 1941. She taught at Hood College and Michigan State University. In 1954, she received a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. After her marriage to Francis J. VanBortel of Palmyra, New York in 1953, they moved to Chicago where Dorothy worked at the Cereal Institute. In 1971 they moved to Rye, New York. For the past decade Mrs. VanBortel was a resident of the Osborn Retirement Community in Rye. Dorothy had been a member of the Rye Presbyterian Church for 35 years and served as a deacon. She was active in the Cornell Alumni Association, served on reunion committees from 1976 to 2006 and was president of the Class of 1936 from 1996 to 2006. Mrs. VanBortel was predeceased by her husband Francis in 1989; sister Edna Purdy; brothers Leland and George Greey; her mother-in-law Margaret VanBortel and sister-in-law Felicia McCord. She is survived by her brother-in-law James (Bonnie) VanBortel; sister-in-law Muriel White and nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., Palmyra.

Catherine enjoyed her family, gardening and, most of all, her 65 years on the family farm with her husband Howard. Mrs. DeCann was predeceased by her husband Howard J. DeCann; sisters Mary DePauw and Lena DeCann and brother Steve Yaskow. She is survived by her daughters Judith Humphrey, Vera Holder and Joan (Rick Coyne) DeCann; sisters Mildred Dudley and Sophie Quagliata; brother Peter Yaskow; brother- in-law Walter (Eleanor) DeCann; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Minns, Earl - Earl N. Minns, 68, of Sodus Estates, died September 11, 2006 at his home. Earl was born December 6, 1937 and was the son of the late Clinton & Mary Minns of Seneca Castle. Earl served for 41 years in the National Guard in Company B of Geneva. In 1984 he moved to Sodus where he worked on the Minns Fruit Farm. He is survived by his brother, John (Phoebe) Minns of Sodus; niece, Kristen Felluca; two nephews: John Minns, Jr. and Brian Minns; great nephew, Jaron Minns and great-niece, Morgan Felluca. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Norton Funeral Home in Sodus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rochester Chapter #15 of the Disabled Veterans.

McCoole, Donald - Donald E. McCoole, 75, of Sodus, died September 11, 2006 at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Don was predeceased by his wife, Dolores in 1986. He is survived by four daughters, Donna (Mike) Holtzapple of PA, Karen (Clayton) Carnell of Sodus, Florence (Bob) Miller of Rose and Judy McCoole of Red Creek; three sons, Lee (Kathy) McCoole of WY, David (Linda) McCoole of NC and Scott McCoole of Sodus; 12 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pulver was born December 19,1924 in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter of William and Hulda Bowdle Blanton. She was a long-time employee of C.H. Stuart, Inc., where she was a foreman in the jewelry factory. Then for several years, she was a co-owner of the Newark Granite Works until her retirement in 1982. Maxine was a lifetime member of the Park Presbyterian Church and a member of the Presbyterian Women. She was an active member of the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Auxiliary with over 5000 volunteer hours in the snack bar and the gift shop. Maxine worked on the Board of Elections in Newark for many years and was a member of the Newark-Arcadia Historical Society. Maxine is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lindy, two daughters Linda (Russell) Barber of Naples, FL, Carleen (Vern) Frost of Williamson, son Gary (Karen) of Arlington, TX; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters Norma Jane Brown and Marilyn Blanton both of Danville, IL, two brothers Marvin (Esther) Blanton and G. Thomas (Betty) Blanton of Danville, IL several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Willard Blanton.

Ms. DePauw was on staff at Strong Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse, then the Rochester Visiting Nurse Service. From there she worked for NYS Department of Public Health for 26 years. Her assignments, over the years, included areas in Binghamton, Syracuse and Geneva District offices. After retirement she lived in Rochester for several years and enjoyed volunteer activities and traveled widely. Ms. DePauw was a member of the Irondequoit United Church of Christ, the Church Women United and the American Association of University Women. Ms. DePauw will be remembered by her niece Deborah DePauw of Canandaigua; nephews Keith (Susan) DePauw of Jordan; many cousins in the U.S. and Netherlands. Ms. DePauw was predeceased by her brother Edward DePauw in 1996 and sister Leona Manley in 1986.

Zacharilla, Pauline H. - Pauline H. Zachrilla, 90, formerly of Lyons, died Sat., Sept. 2, 2006, in Pittsburgh, PA. Pauline was born in Newark, Aug. 1, 1916, daughter of Frank & Concetta Paone Haney. She was the office manager for Monroe Abstract Title Insurance Co. in Lyons; was a longtime resident of New Port Richey, FL where she attended our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Pauline had recently moved to Pittsburgh with her daughter and was a member of St. Thomas More Church. She loved to play bridge with the girls and was a longtime member of St. Michaels Church in, Lyons, where she lived for many years. Survived by her daughter, Mary B. (C. Timothy) Muffly of Pittsburgh, PA; two grandsons, R. Evan & Matthew Muffly; brother, George Haney of Newark; nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Dominic in 1987. Durfee, Marion - Marion Durfee, 92, of the Vienna Gardens Apartments in Phelps, formerly of Newark, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Mrs. Durfee was born February 26, 1914 in Clifton Springs, the daughter of Charles and Etta Crawford Mortford. She owned and operated a photography studio in Newark for 40 years with her husband Kenneth. She was a member of the New York State Professional Photographers Association. Mrs. Durfee was a life member of the Park Presbyterian Church. She was a life member and Past Matron of the Amitie Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a life member of the Newark Grange. She is survived by her daughter Judith (James) Walker of Savannah, three grandchildren James Walker II, Jennifer (Ryan) Marriott and Michael Durfee, a great grandson Logan Marriott, two sisters Dorothy Boynton of Newark and Evelyn Thraves of Sodus Point, a daughter-in-law Jeanne Durfee of Walworth, two sister-in-laws Margaret Durfee of Newark and Jane Durfee of Ill. LeClaire, Janice - Janice K. (Karr) LeClaire, 70, of Marion died August 25, 2006. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Norman LeClaire; three daughters, Karen (Rick) Darron, Renee Anderson, Valerie (Steve) Kuhn; brother, Leo Karr; sister, Arlyss Domagala; nieces and nephews and seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents. She was a member of St. Gregory's Church of Marion, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Daughters of Union Veterans of Civil War. Koester, Angela - Angela A. Koester, 66, of Lyons, died Aug. 27, 2006 at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Angela was born Dec. 15, 1939, in Bayshore, a daughter to Michael and Alice Gordon Cravotta. She retired from the Newark Developmental Center after 22 years as a recreational therapist. She is survived by her son, Harold Schetrompf of Ohio; mother, Alice Cravotta of Newark; brother, Michael Cravotta II of Arkansas; sister, Rita Sparkes of Pennsylvania; nephews, Michael III and Peter; and nieces Sharon and Cathy. She was predeceased by her father, Michael Cravotta; first husband of 21 years, Orben Schetrompf; and second husband of 10 years, Raymond Koester. DeFabio-Quinn, Elaine - Elaine DeFabio-Quinn, of Newark and Sodus Point, died peacefully at home on August 22, 2006. She is survived by James, her husband of 22 years; three sons, Brendan, Shawn and Ryan all of Sodus Point; her brother Richard (Joann) DeFabio and nephew Gregory DeFabio, all of Wayne, NJ. She was predeceased by her parents. She taught at Lyons Elementary School for more than 20 years. Born in Clyde and raised in Newark, she graduated from Newark High School and had been a member of the former Newark Players theater group. She earned her teaching degree at SUNY Oswego. Mr. Smalley loved the great outdoors, including working in his vegetable garden, fishing and hunting. He loved to cook out and travel with his wife. McMillon, Otis - Otis McMillon, 73, of Old Route 31, Lyons, died Aug. 16, 2006 at DeMay Living Center. Ford, Kenneth E. - A graveside service for Dr. Kenneth E. Ford will be Monday, August 21, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Lowville Rural Cemetery with the Rev. Marcia Wickert, Pastor of the Lowville United Methodist Church, officiating. Dr. Ford died on July 12, 2006 in Oak Hill Hospital, Brooksville Florida. Dr. Ford was a former superintendent of Jefferson-Lewis-Hamilton-Herkimer- Oneida Board of Cooperative Educational Services, retiring in 1982. He also was a teacher and administrator at Lowville Academy and Central School. Dr. Ford was married to the late Martha Milligan Ford, who was a French teacher at Lowville Academy and Central School; she died on July 27, 1976. He is survived by his wife Margaret of Spring Hill, Florida; three stepchildren, James Richards, Savannah Lakes, SC; Steven Richards, Bloomington, Ind.; Janice Bundy, Michigan; a sister Ruth Fornell, Lyons; a niece and nephew. Corey, Daniel - Daniel Corey, 80, of Newark died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Daniel was born the son of the late William and Zelphia Brown Corey in Tioga County on March 9, 1926. He enjoyed the company of friends and family. It was a special time for him to go out and have a cup of coffee with them. Children played an important part in his life, talking, visiting and laughing together. Music was special to Daniel, listening to country music and watching country videos. Daniel was last of twelve children. Gary, Donald - Donald L. Gary, 66, of Newark, died August 15, 2006, one day before his 67th birthday. Don was born on August 16, 1939, in Palmyra, the son of Lee and Emma Bankert Gary. He served in the U. S. Army from 1957 until 1968. After leaving the Army, he worked as a machinist for AC Delco in Rochester, until his retirement. Don was a member of St. Michael's Church, the August Mauer Post #286, American Legion in Newark and the Palmyra Moose Lodge. He had also been a member of the New York Central Hose Company and the Newark Fire Police. He is survived by two daughters Flora Gary and Ann (Sylvester) House, Jr. both of Newark. Four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters Dorothy Hatfield of Florida and Shirley (Herbert) Smith of Newark, several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents and his wives, Mildred in 1992 and Kathleen in 2004. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, August 17 at the Paul L. Monje, Joan - Johanna Monje, 86, of Newark, died August 10, 2006 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. She was born March 17, 1920 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, the daughter of Marinus and Johanna Roest VanAnkeren. Joan and her husband Frans owned a plumbing and heating business in Newark for which she did the bookkeeping for 45 years. She was a gardener and member of the Newark Garden Club, member of the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Auxiliary and a Foster Grandparent for several years at the Newark Kelley and Middle Schools. She is survived by her daughter Pieternella 'Nellie' Colarocco of Newark; four grandchildren Marina (Matthew) Crider of Fairport, James (Susan) Westcott of W. Irondequoit, Johanna (Lawrence) Hammond of Rochester, and Thomas Anthony Colarocco of Newark; six great grandchildren; a sister Catherine (Alex) Brams of Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her husband last May and by her brother Jon VanAnkeren.

Frank, Betty - Betty Frank, 66, of Marion died Aug. 14, 2006. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew L. Frank. Laberge, Pete - Joseph E. 'Pete' LaBerge, 89, of Flagstaff, AZ, formerly of Palmyra, died June 16, 2006. Pete was born December 28, 1916 in Ottawa, Canada to Alexander and Sophie LaBerge. Pete and Ruth Jones were married July 4, 1942 in Wellsville, NY. Pete was a 50-year member and former Elder of the Western Presbyterian Church of Palmyra. He served in the Civil Conservation Corps & later in the Army. He was a charter member & past president of the Palmyra Lions Club. In 1958 Pete founded LaBco of Palmyra, Inc., a metal fabrication business that continues to prosper under his eldest son, Gary. He enjoyed golf, cards, camping and world travel. Pete is survived by his loving wife Ruth, son Gary of Palmyra, son Peter of Riverside, CA, daughter Malene of Flagstaff, AZ, sister Giselle of Fairport, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. His parents, two brothers and three sisters predeceased him. A service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2 p.m. at the Western Presbyterian Church, Palmyra. Private burial will be in Wellsville. Fischette, Lena - Mrs. Lena Fischette, 94, formerly of Clyde, died August 12, 2006 following an extended illness. Mrs. Fischette was born in Palmyra, NY on February 17, 1912, the daughter of Joseph and Julia D'Orazio Longoverde. She was employed for many years by the Hallagan Manufacturing Company of Newark. Lena was a resident of Clyde for over 47 years, and a member of St. John's Church. Prior to moving to Clyde, she lived in Newark. She was married to the late Daniel Fischette, who predeceased her on December 1, 1983. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lucy DiZillo of Geneva and Mrs. Josephine Coleman of Palm Bay, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by four sisters, Elizabeth Petrus, Rose Fisher, Nellie Klomser and Mary Longoverde. Samuels, Myrtle - Myrtle I. Samuels, 85, of Lyons died Aug. 12, 2006. Myrtle was born June 2, 1921, in Lyons, a daughter to Clayton and Ida Warren Loveless. She retired from the village of Lyons as the coordinator of community development. She was also with the Wayne County Support Bureau and was active in many village of Lyons functions. She is survived by two sons, David (Nancy) Bridger of Farmington and Charles Bridger of Lyons; two grandsons, Jason Brooks of Lyons and Scott Bridger of Newark; sister-in-law, Celia Loveless of Seneca Falls. She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Bridger in 1969; second husband, Jack Samuels in 1982; daughter, Nancy Brooks in 2005; and two brothers, Emerson and Howard Loveless. Lents, John - John M. Lents, III, 60, formerly of Lyons, died August 12, 2006 at his home in Shortsville. John was born on January 11, 1946 in Croswell, Michigan, the son of the late John and Anne Ripley Lents. He is survived by his wife Nancy Dean Lents, a daughter Amanda Lents of Glendale, CA, son John Lents IV of Manchester; brother Kyle (Terry) of New Hampshire, and many friends. John was predeceased by two brothers, Peter and Paul Lents.

Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Fairville Presbyterian Church and the Fairville Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed to crochet and work in her flower garden. Mr. Rommel was a member of Park Presbyterian Church in Newark. He was a member of Newark Grange and was active with the Arcadia Senior Citizens. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Mr. Rommel also had many great time playing cards. He will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years Anna Hermanet Rommel; son Kenneth Rommel of FL.; daughter Lois (John) Harvey of MI and Nancy McMahon of Greece; grandchildren Lisa (Rick) Strutz, Jill (Mike) Rosario and Tricia (Ben) McAllister; great grandchildren Joe and Lindsey Strutz, Taylor Rosario and John McAllister; sister Dorothy Delyser of Sodus; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Rommel was predeceased by his brothers Edmond and Jerome; brother-in-law James Delyser.

Boyer, Kenneth E. - Kenneth E. Boyer, 63, of Ross Road, Lyons, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006. Ken was born May 29, 1943 in Lyons, son of Sidney and Moleta Maxson Boyer. He worked for Lyons Central School in the maintenance department, at both the elementary school and high school. He was also a bus driver and bus mechanic. He worked for the village of Lyons in the Water and Street Department. He was a past Master Mason of Humanity Lodge 406 F&AM, and was a volunteer fireman for the Lyons Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley Oswald Boyer; daughter, Wendy Boyer of Lyons; two sons, Steven (Deena) of Lyons and Jeffrey (Michelle) of Ontario; loving grandfather of Kelly, Krista, Taylor, Logan, Hunter, Darrien, Halle and Madisyn; three sisters, Phyllis Paliotti of Lyons, Beverly Wolford of Homer, Alaska, and Gloria Muir of Lyons; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Roemer. Friends called Monday, Aug. 7, at Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William St., Lyons, where services were held at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Packer, Nancy - Nancy Packer, 52, of Newark, died Saturday (August 5, 2006) at the Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodas. Friends called Monday (August 7, 2006) at the Paul L. Nancy was born in Emir on March 3, 1954, the daughter of Ronald and Ruth Kennedy Packer. She was a long time resident of Newark. Cornwell, Beatrice I. - Beatrice Isabell Cornwell, 96, of Newark, died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the DeMay Living Center. Per her request, there will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends may attend a celebration of her life on Wednesday (Aug. 9) at noon at the First United Methodist Church, S. Main St., Newark. Burial will be in E. Newark Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In memory of Mrs. Cornwell, please consider donations to the First United Methodist Church, S. Main St., Newark or Life Time Care HOSPICE, 1120 S. Main St., Newark, NY 14513. Mrs. Cornwell was born the daughter of Melvin and Pearl Barrett Reynolds on March 20, 1910 in Bath, NY. She worked and retired in 1975 from C.H. Stuart Co. after 32 years working as an inspector. Following that job, she volunteered for the Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Service Office for 9 years and then became a full time employee for the following 14 years. Mrs. Cornwell was a wonderful woman and was much ahead of her time. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark. She moved to Newark in 1948 and shortly after, became interested in bowling and had no idea where that would take her. A bowling legend was formed at the bowling lanes in Lyons. Mrs. Cornwell soon began bowling in county matches and then state and national tournaments. She was instrumental in starting the 500 Club, served as treasurer for the Wayne County Women's Bowling Assoc. and in her spare time, chaired a private bowling club named the Donkey Figurine. Mrs. Cornwell had a weird sense of humor, loved to sew, read and work on crossword puzzles. Mrs. Cornwell will be remembered by her daughters, Marjorie LaFave and Grace Kidder; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Fred Cornwell; two brothers Eldon and Vernon Reynolds.

Herrera, Teofilo - Teofilo Herrera Teo, 45, of Clyde, died Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Rochester General Hospital after a long and courageous battle with his health. Teo was born the son of the late Pablo Herrera Millan and Teo-Fila Alicea in Yabucoa Puerto Rico on April 26, 1961. He came to the States in 1989 and worked at Seneca Foods seasonal, Heluva Good Cheese, Clear Plastics Container and for the past 12 years he worked as a mechanic for Pierce Enterprises in Clyde. Teo enjoyed riding dirt bikes, four wheelers, fishing and making people laugh. Teo will be remembered by his loving girlfriend Susan Singletary of Lyons; daughter Viviana Herrera; brothers Zoilo, Felipe Herrera both of Yatacoa PR; Luis Herrera of St. Croix, U.S.V.I.; sisters Nancy Herrera of Ceiva, PR and Maria Ayala of St. Croix U.S.V.I.; several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Lucia enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by two daughters, Maria, (Frank) Nicoletta and Gina Fasano, both of Clyde; her son, Antonio (Incoronata) Nicoletta of Clyde; 11 grandchildren;. 10 great-grandchildren; her stepsister, Lisa Petito of New York City; several nieces and nephews.

Lyons, John T. - John T. Lyons, 82, died June 3rd after a long illness. John was a 1942 graduate of Johnstown High School, Johnstown, NY. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1942-1945. He was employed at Knox Gelatin, in Johnstown from 1954-1967, then by Riegel Paper Corp. of Newark, NY; then started his own business in 1971 as a piano technician, which he operated until his illness. He is survived by his wife, Frances, a son, Robert M. Lyons (Deborah), a daughter, Melanie Chamberlin, one stepson and one stepdaughter, one sister, Gertrude Jackson; four grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren. Matthys, Eric M. - Eric M. Matthys, 46, died Friday, July 28, 2006, as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Phelps. Mr. Matthys was born in Lyons on September 26, 1959, the son of Robert and Lucille Wallace Matthys. Eric was a galvanizer at the Elderlee Company in Oak Corners. He was a member of the Finger Lakes Chapter of Renegade Pigs Motorcyle Club and the American War Dads, Chapter #42 in Lyons. Eric is survived by his wife of 22 years, Maxine Divelbliss Matthys, a daughter Heather, his mother Lucille Wallace Matthys, brothers Michael (Patty) and Ronald (Tina), sister Dana Matthys all of Lyons. Walters, Catherine M. Goodman - Catherine M. Goodman Walters, 93, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at the Clifton Springs Hospital Extended Care Unit, surrounded by her loving family. Friends called at the Patrick Funeral Home, 26 W. Main St., Clifton Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Felix Church in Clifton Springs. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery. Catherine was born May 19, 1913 in Shortsville, the daughter of Gotlieb Jr. and Jane Walters. She retired after many years as a secretary for the Phelps-Clifton Springs School District. Catherine was the choir director/organist for St. Felix Church, where her music ministry lasted more than 60 years, and she was a life-long member of the St. Felix Rosary and Altar Society. She was co-leader of the first girl Scout Troop in Clifton Springs and volunteered at the House of John. Catherine also did some reporting for the Finger Lakes Times and was known for 'Kay's Corner,' reporting on local news events. She is survived by her son, C. Michael (Barbara) Goodman of Canandaigua; daughters, Catherine (Daniel) McGrath of Clifton Springs, Elizabeth Michaels, M.D. of Canandaigua; grandchildren, Michael (Rebecca) Goodman of Canandaigua, Shane (Annette) McGrath of Palmyra, Kerry M. McGrath of Berwick, PA, Joseph McGrath of Clifton Springs, Erin (Jeremy) Maynard of East Hampton, Connecticut; and Scott Hetrick of Coventry, Connecticut; four great-granddaughters; sisters-in-law, Doris Braden of Clifton Springs and Marian 'Peg' Squier of East Rochester; many loving nieces and nephews. Flock, Ronald E Sr. - Ronald E. Flock, Sr., 67 of Gallatin, Tennesee, formerly of Lyons, died Thursday (July 20, 2006) after a courageous battle with cancer. Family and friends may called Tuesday (July 25) at the Lyons Elks Lodge, 32 Church St., Lyons, where a memorial service was held at 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Lyons Elks Lodge 869, 32 Church St., Lyons, NY 14489. Ron was born Dec. 5, 1938 in Seneca Falls, the son of Margaret E. and Theodore P Flock. He attended Mynderse Academy and entered the Navy in 1957. Upon his return, he worked in the Lyons area for Metropolitan Life Insurance for several years, then was owner and operator of the Men and Boys Shop in Lyons, as well as a real estate broker. Ron moved to Gallatin, Tennesee in 1998, where he resided with his very special companion, Dolores Cassidy, until his death. He was an active member of the Lyons Elks for several years. An avid golfer, Ron was a member of the Wednesday League at Big Oak in Geneva. While living in Gallatin, he was an active member of the Democratic party and worked on the Governor's campaign, as well as an active member in the local crime-stoppers program. He was a huge fan of high school sports and traveled to several area schools in Tennessee to watch many games. Ron is survived by four sons, Renalto (Donna) Worthan of Murphy, NC, Ronald (Linda) Flock Jr. of Petersburg, VA, Michael (Christine) Flock of Huntersville, NC and John (Kate) Flock of Newark; six grandchildren, Nathan Worthan of Marietta, GA, Joshua Worthan of Hartwell, GA, Benjamin Flock of Canandaigua, Rachel and Jonathan Flock of North Carolina and Andrew Flock of Newark; two brothers, Theodore (Judy) Flock of Seneca Falls and John (Sandra) Flock of Ontario; two sisters, Eileen (James) Peterson and Kathryn (Carson) Lankford of Seneca Falls; several nieces and nephews; and his loving companion, Dolores Cassidy of Gallatin, Tennesee. He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Margaret Flock; grandparents, Edward V. and G. Mae Tracy; son, Mark Andrew Flock; and a very special aunt, Kathleen M. Worden.

Pitrella, Charlotte - Miss Charlotte Pitrella, 75, died Monday, July 24, 2006, peacefully at her home on Woodside Drive in Newark. Charlotte was born December 30, 1930 in Newark, the daughter of Stephen and Theresa Marro Pitrella. After graduating from Newark High School, she attended Brockport State. For two years, Charlotte taught fourth grade at St. Michael's School in Newark. She then joined Sister Joyce to form a two-person department teaching language arts to seventh and eight graders. In 1968, she was appointed vice-principal of the school and along with her teaching duties pursued the completion of her education. She received a B.A. in English at Nazareth College in 1969 and continued her studies to earn a Masters in Education and later completed requirements for an advanced degree in administration. In July 1980, she became the first lay principal of St. Michael's School, a position she held until her retirement in 1993. In her retirement, Charlotte became the Liturgy Coordinator at St. Michael's Church. A communicant of St. Michael's Church, she was a Eucharistic Minister and a team member of the Martha Ministries. Charlotte was also a member of the Rosary Altar Society, the Legion of Mary and the Sacred Heart Mission Club. An ardent theatre lover, she was a member of the Newark Players, for which she was a director, actor, and worker in all phases of its productions. She was a member of the Wayne County Historical Society and the Sons of Italy. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Peter Clifford at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at St. Michael's Church, South Main Street; interment will be in Newark Cemetery.

Valore, Maxine S. (Sale) - Maxine S. (Sale) Valore, 94, of Pultneyville, died July 18, 2006. She was a life member of the Pultneyville United Methodist Church. She formerly served on the Library Board of the Williamson Free Public Library. Survived by her loving and devoted children, son and daughter-in-law, Marshal (Barbara) Valore of Sodus Point, daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Michael) Muscolino of Newark; special grandchildren, Heather (Brad) Parker, Jeffrey Valore, Korie Muscolino, Michael Muscolino and Marc Muscolino; adored great-grandchildren, Lucas Parker and Tessa Parker; brother, Eldred Sale of Victor; sister-in-law, Viola Kenyon of Georgia; and nieces. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert I. Valore in 2003. At her request, calling hours will not be observed and the courtesy of no flowers. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of her Life at the Pultneyville United Methodist Church, Saturday morning, July 29 at 11 a.m. Private Interment, Lake View Cemetery, Pultneyville. Cartwright, Thomas R. Joseph - Thomas 'Joe' Cartwright, 62, of Phelps, formerly of Lyons, died Sunday, July 16, 2006 at his 'little piece of heaven on earth on Marbletown Road.' Friends are invited to call today (Wednesday, July 19) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main St., Phelps., where the Phelps American Legion and Waterloo VFW, will pay respects at 6:30 p.m. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20 at the United Church of Phelps, with the Rev A.J. Tierson officiating. Full military honors will follow the service. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends are welcome to join the family at the Phelps American Legion at noon following the service to celebrate Joe's life.
