Boston, Ola - Ola Boston, 67, Lyons/Newark, died suddenly on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery. In memory of Ola please consider donations to the Wayne County Nursing Home Recreation Department, 1529 Nye Rd., Lyons, NY 14489. Ola was born the daughter of the late Charles and Mattie Mae Williams in Hines City in Florida on August 31, 1940. She was a resident of the Finger Lakes DDSO coming to this area in 1959. Ola will be remembered by her children Wilbert, Margaret and Johnnie Boston; grandchildren Wilbert Jr., Amanda, Karen, Danielle Boston, William Edwards, Terry Jones, Adrin, Ryan, Jason McGough, Sherry Ann, Mary Ann, Stacy and Christian Boston; brothers Willie, Nathanial and Andrew Williams; many nieces and nephews. Ola was predeceased by her husband Johnnie Lee Boston; sisters Charlene Dawson, Dorothy Davis, Alene Williams, Betty Williams and Cara Bell Taner; brothers Samuel Williams, John Davis and Charley James.

Tormey, Douglas S. - Douglas S. Tormey, 59, of 4440 Pearsall Road, Marion, died unexpectedly September 28, 2007. The family received friends Monday at the Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home Inc., 32 State St., Seneca Falls. Funeral services were held at the funeral home. Interment in Rushford, Allegany County. Contributions may be made to any Veterans Affairs Medical Center in memory of Dougla Tormey. Douglas was born in Ulysses, PA, the son of Dale and Gloria Sholtz Tormey, of Pennsylvania. He lived most of his in this area. He was employed by Maracle Industrial Finishing in Webster. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Marion American Legion and the National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his parents, Dale and Gloria Tormey; a son, Stephen (DeDe) Tormey of Clyde; stepchildren, Ronald (Marlene) Neamon, Rosemarie (Ron), Dennis, Steve, Ron (Corine), Brian, Betty (Steve), Donna (Neal); several grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Linda (Roland) Parker of Ohio; two brothers, Jim (Phyllis) Tormey of Clyde and Randy (Helen) Tormey, of Ohio. He was predeceased by a brother, Dale; and a stepson, Rick Gomski.

Marsico, Vera E. - Vera E. Marsico, 92, of North Rose, passed away Sept. 29, 2007 at the Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus. Friends and family called at the Farnsworth-Keysor Funeral Home, 5025 Main St., North Rose, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 3). Burial will be in Rose Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Rose Ambulance. Vera was born Feb. 15, 1915 in Central Nyack, a daughter to Floyd and Clara Owen. She is survived by her son, Frank (Mary) Marico, Jr. of North Rose; grandchildren, Eddie Marsico of Clyde, Elizabeth (Edward) Allen of Clyde, Frank (Paula) Marsico III of North Rose and Mary (Dale) Warner of Savannah; two great- grandchildren, Lisa (Shawn) Poole and William Lyman; great great-grandchildren, Allen and Jennifer Warner; and nieces and nephews.

Nicodemus, Marion L. - Marion L. Nicodemus, 82, of Clifton Springs, passed away on Sept. 27, 2007 at home. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Middletown, R.I. Marion was born July 25, 1925 in Sommerville, Massacusetts, the daughter of the late Louis and Marion B. Morris. She was a member of the Odd Fellows Home Association of Rhode Island, the Esther Lodge of Newport, R.I., and the Arnot Ogden Hospital Auxilliary in Elmira. Marion is survived by her children, David A. Nicodemus of Newport, R.I.; and Diane J. Baileyof Dundee; grandchildren, David A. (Amy) Nicodemus and Keith P. Nicodemus, both of Newport, R.I., Nicole M. Bailey and Jason E. Bailey, both of Lakemont; and granddaughter, Aimee M. Bailey. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul E. Nicodemus. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home, Clifton Springs.

Baker, Merle L. - Merle L. Baker, 64, of Marion, died October 2, 2007. He was predeceased by his son, Richard. Wheaton, Dale E. Jr. - Dale E. Wheaton Jr., 49 of E. Main, Palmyra, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 at Newark Wayne Hospital. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at Schulz Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Ct., Newark, where services will be at 7:30 pm with Rev. Doug Allen. Memorials to Canandaigua Baptist Church, 5026 North Rd., Canandaigua. Dale was born in Hornell July 30, 1958, son of Dale & Anna Rosier Wheaton Sr. He had worked at Victor Insulation and Centerpointe Golf Course. he was a member of Canandaigua Baptist Church. Survived by his wife of 10 years, Helen Long Wheaton, son Timothy, 2 daughters, Jamie & Cynthia Wheaton, all of Rochester. 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Jo, Roger, Carlos, Emanuel. Bowman, Howard - Howard E. Bowman, 93, died September 26, 2007 at the VA Hospital in Canandaigua. He was born April 27, 1914 in Lyons, son of Ernst and Agnes Knight Bowman. He had been a factory worker in and also did lawn maintenance work. He worked at Lyons Rural Cemetery for many years. He grew up in Lyons and lived there most of his life. He had lived in Newark for a number of years and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He served in the Army Infantry and was awarded the Purple Heart and other infantry medals. Howard was predeceased by his brother Larry and sister Gladys. He is survived by two sisters, Katherine Strohm of Lyons and Thelma VanHorn of Barker, and a brother James, of Newark; also survived by one niece and one nephew. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 29 at 11 a.m. at Boeheim Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William St., Lyons, with the Rev. Dan Benedict officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Lyons.

VanValkenburg, Frank - Frank H. VanValkenburg Jr., 41, of Elmer St., Lyons, died September 26, 2007. Frank was born August 13, 1966 in Newark, son of Frank and Sandra Hunt VanValkenburg. He had worked at MACO Bags in Newark. Frank is survived by his son, Joshua and daughters Ashley and Amanda; two sisters, Sondra Wright and Lida Fremouw; his brother, James, all of Lyons; nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Sunday, September 30, 2-4 p.m. at Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William St., Lyons, where services will be held Monday (Oct. 1) at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Dana Rattray officiating. He will be buried in South Lyons Cemetery.

Bill SpringettSpringett, Bill - William J. 'Bill' Springett, 74, of Newark, died September 24, 2007 at Rochester General Hospital. He was born June 18, 1933, in Rochester, son of Benjamin and Mary Feeley Springett. He graduated from Avon Central School and earned a Bachelor degree in Education from the New York State University at Geneseo graduating in 1956. After graduation, he served as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. Moving to Newark in 1958, Mr. Springett taught 5th grade at the Lincoln School and in 1961 became the Principal of East Palmyra School, while continuing to teach 5th and 6th grades. By 1968, he had earned his Master's degree in School Administration at Geneseo and became the full-time Principal of Lincoln School for three years.He was principal of the Kelley School, retiring in 1988, after 30 years with the Newark School District. The William J. Springett Conservation Award is given annually to a 5th grader in Kelley School who writes the winning essay on the environment and conservation. He was a great family man, and his children now envision Mom and Dad dancing together again. He was Director of Adult Continuing Education for many years. He taught continuing education for High School Equivalency as well as the migrant education summer school program. He took extra graduate courses at the University of Rochester, Syracuse and Plattsburgh. He was the Wayne County Representative for CPSE (committee on pre-school education) from 1993 to 2003 and a member of the School Administrators Association of New York state. Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Father Mark Brewer will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at noon on Sept. 28, at St. Michael's Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial with military honors will follow in East Newark Cemetery. Bill was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. He was a member of the Newark Lions Club, having served on its Board of Directors for several years. He was a member of the Bergen Swamp Society and had a great love of the outdoors and conservation. Bill is survived by his children: Cristine (Michael) Kraham of Newark, Steven Scott of Webster, Wendy (Eugene) McGinnis of Rochester, Jeffrey (Mary Beth) of Newark, Gregory (Kathryn) of Newark, Peter (Amy Langenstein) of Victor, Colleen (Mark) Stevens of Rochester, and Chadwick (Kyra Savino) of Newark; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother Richard (Margie) of Sumter, South Carolina; a sister Florence (Thomas) Brah of Eagle River, Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in 1999 by his wife Nancy, and by five siblings. Memorials may be made to the Newark Teachers Association Scholarship Fund, 100 East Miller Street, Newark 14513

Stappenbeck, Guy - Guy G. Stappenbeck, 52, of Palmyra died September 25, 2007. He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Margaret Setter Stappenbeck. Guy is survived by three brothers - Ron (Janet), Bob, and Mark (Kim), and one sister, Sue (Ron) Uhlein, and 13 nieces and nephews. Armstrong, Willa - Willa K. Armstrong, 78, died Sept. 21, 2007 at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rochester. Willa was born March 6, 1929, daughter of William and Katherine Fillingham Armstrong. She lived in Rochester for many years, and lived in Newark over 25 years. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Kathleen Armstrong of Elba; nephews Ronald, William and Larry Armstrong; niece, Cindy; several great-nieces and great-nephews; her longtime friends, Diane Schram and Rita Clark, who helped her in many ways; her granddaughter Jessica Webb; and her beloved pet 'Misty.' Willa was a member of the Wayne County Humane Society. A special thanks to Betsy Americo and her staff at Armstrong Senior Living for their exceptional love and caring ways.

Crocker, Bob - Robert Allen Crocker Sr., 43, of Clyde Marengo Road, died Sept. 20, 2007. Friends may call today, Sept. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pusateri Funeral Home, 68 Sodus St., Clyde. He had worked for Parker-Hannifin Co. in Lyons. He was a graduate of Clyde-Savannah High School, Class of 1983. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to bowl. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Searor Crocker; two daughters, Brandy and Bobbi-Jo Crocker of Clyde; son, Robert Jr. of Clyde; his mother, Sharon Crocker of Clyde; two brothers, Grover Jr. and Jeff Crocker of Clyde; granddaughter, Marley; two nephews, Derreck and Cody, and one niece, Stacey.

Porterfield, Stanley - Stanley Porterfield, 85, of Walworth died September 22, 2007. He was predeceased by three brothers, Tom, Lowell, James Sidney Porterfield; a sister, Gladys Johnson; son-in-law Daryl Hall and granddaughter Lisa Hall. He is survived by Jen, his wife of 60 years; children, Becky (Buzz) Appleman, Kay Hall, Billy Porterfield, Dan (Debbie) Porterfield, Donna (Dale) Hall, all of Walworth; and Sheila (Todd) Erwin of Williamson; a sister, Virginia Lowman of Roanoke, Virginia; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 428; a WWII Veteran; a member of the VFW, Masons, Walworth Methodist Church, and the Three Oaks Coon Club. Young, Esca (Roland) - Esca Young, of Palmyra, died September 8, 2007, at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman; survived by sons Charles, Howard, and Donald; daughter, Dorothy (Arnold) Steinruck and Dorothy's children; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends and her family on Orchard Way at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Murphy, Cornelia Kay DeNering - Cornelia Kay Murphy, 89, originally from Marion, NY died September 2, 2007 at her daughter's home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Kay was born and raised in Marion. She earned her RN degree from Highland Hospital School of Nursing, Rochester, in 1938 and retired from Newark Wayne Community Hospital in 1976. Kay and her husband, John K., raised 7 children in their farmhouse in Marion. Their house was always open to various nieces and nephews who stayed with them, some for a few days and some for a few years. Friends were also always welcomed. The family hosted Marion's first foreign exchange student, Eria Magnani, from Italy in 1959-60. Eria has remained a part of the family and visits have been made to Italy and from Italy regularly. In Kay's last few weeks, she was visited by most of her grandchildren who wanted to spend as much time with their Gram as they could. She received wonderful letters from those who could not visit. At the time of her death, most of her children were present, as was Eria, her Italian daughter. Kay is survived by three sons, John (Kay Kindt) and Robert, both of Fairbanks, Alaska, and David (Diane) of North Rose, NY; three daughters, Elizabeth Murphy and Catherine Claridge both of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Sheila Phillips of Dallas, TX; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Gamburd, New Bedford, MA; many nieces and nephews . She was predeceased by husband, John Klee; son, Paul; and two sisters, Katherine DeNering and Christine Colvard. Kay's children and grandchildren are grateful for the legacy of courage, humor and integrity she left to them. She has been central to their lives. A memorial mass and celebration of her life will be held at St. Gregory Church, Marion, NY on September 29 at 11 a.m. followed by inurnment of her cremains in Marion Cemetery. The family invites all who knew Kay to celebrate with them. Warner, Catherine A. - Catherine A. Warner, 86, of Melbourne, FL, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2007. Born in Rochester, NY, she was raised in Marion, NY. Mrs. Warner retired from Yellow Pages advertising in Tennessee and continued work in Florida for Devereaux Hospital as well as the Paxen Group. Catherine is predeceased by Richard C. Warner of Newark, NY. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret A. Frank; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren; brother Donald (Pat) Allen. There will be no local service.

Pearsall, Winford J. - Winford J. Pearsall, of Sodus Point, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at age 89. Winford was a World War II combat Marine having served in the South Pacific. He participated in engagements at Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, New Britain, Tanahmerah Bay, Dutch New Guinea, Peleliu Island and the Palau Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart following wounds received in action during October of 1944. He was predeceased by wives Hazel in July 1974 and Virginia In December 2000, and is survived by his son Helmer Pearsall of Peoria, AZ; brothers and sisters Sumner (Audrey) Pearsall of Fairport, Mary Fowler of Clyde, Betty Hayden of Hilton, Phillip (Edna) Featherly of Sodus and Murray Berdeane) Featherly Jr. of Sodus; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends called at Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus. Interment with full military honors at the Sodus Rural Cemetery. Stewart, Dorothy D. - Dorothy Doris (Farnsworth) Stewart, 84, of Fairville died peacefully Friday Sept. 14, 2007 at the DeMay Living Center. Family and friends may call today (Monday, Sept. 17) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. Mrs. Stewart was born the daughter of the late Theodore and Ethel Hallings Farnsworth on May 7, 1923 in the town of Arcadia, New York. For many years she worked in the cafeteria for the Newark High School. She enjoyed going to church every week with her family. Mrs. Stewart was a 50-year member of the Newark Grange and a member of the Fairville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a hard worker and loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stewart will be remembered by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Benson Stewart; sons Carlton of Florida and Lawrence (Karen) Stewart of Lyons; daughters Marilyn (Christopher) Miraglia of Clifton Springs, Beverly (David) Keukelaar of Macedon and Elaine (Lyle) Bean of Delaware; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother Samuel Farnsworth of Port Gibson; sister-in-law Lucy Tilburg of Newark; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stewart was predeceased by her brother Harold Farnsworth.

Molinaro, Angeline (Caputo) - Angeline Molinaro, age 86, from Lyons, died on September 12, 2007. Angeline was born February 1, 1921 in Rochester, NY. She was one of ten children. Over the years she worked part-time at the Lyons Public Library, Lyons National Bank and Lyons Community Hospital. She was married to John Molinaro of Lyons for nearly 57 years. She raised one son, Tom, who resides in California. Angeline is survived by her devoted husband, John; loving son, Tom; daughter-in-law, Joan; and two wonderful granddaughters, Christa Molinaro Phaneuf (Sean) and Stephanie Molinaro. Her remaining siblings are Adeline Companaro, George Caputo, and Marie Emanuel (Joe). Many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends also survive her. A rosary was said for Angeline in California on Friday, September 14. Friends and family may call today (Monday, September 17) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 18 at 9:30 am at the St. Michael's Church, Phelps St., Lyons. Interment will be in the South Lyons Cemetery. Thurber, Norton C. - Norton C. Thurber, 79 of E. Main St., Palmyra, died Thursday, September 13, 2007. Norton was born in Rochester March 24, 1928, son of Claude & Ethel Thurber. He had a great sense of humor, loved coffee, games and conservation. He had lived at the ARC home in Palmyra for 2 years and also resided in Newark. Friends may call Tuesday, September 18 from 10-11 a.m. at the Schulz Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Court, Newark, where services will be at 11 a.m. Burial in Newark Cemetery. Norton is survived by loving friends at Wayne ARC and Finger Lakes DDSO. He will be deeply missed.

Wise, Jeremy Lyn - Jeremy Lyn Wise, 10-day-old son of Randall and Carolyn Martin Wise of Bohner Road, Phelps, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. Graveside services were on Tuesday in Maple View Mennonite Cemetery, Reed Road, Town of Junius. There will be no prior calling hours. In addition to his parents, Jeremy is survived by one brother, Jonathan Wise, of Phelps; his maternal grandparents, Ronald and Vera Martin, of Newark; his paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Wise, of Waterloo; his maternal great-grandparents, Paul and Mildred Martin, of Pine Grove, PA, and Henry and Luella Martin, of Ephrata, PA; his paternal great-grandparents, Jacob and Katie Wise, of Myerstown, PA; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jeremy was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Lester M. Wise, on Feb. 3, 2007. Arrangements are under the direction of Doran Funeral Home Inc., Seneca Falls.

Moore of Buffalo; sons, Brett Miner of Rochester, Kevin (Stacey) Richards of Florida; parents, Lester and Eleanor (Pope) Winfield of Mount Upton; brothers, John (Marie) Miner of Gilbertsville, Carlton Miner of Sidney, Eugene (Bonnie) Miner of Howell, William (Donna) Miner of Florida; sisters, Dianna Wheeler of Florida, Joan (Ronald) Wildenstein of Mount Upton; 14 grandchildren, Grainge, Lindsay Wilkins, Zachary Richards, Kirstie Richards, Kelsie Richards, Johnny Moore, Jr., Janiquka Moore, Dejon Moore, Jevon Moore, Susan (Chris) McCoy, Claire Seary, Thomas J. Seary, Nathan Franklin and Natale Franklin. Predeceased by his father; Raymond Miner in 1955 and first wife Barbara Parsons Miner in 1982. He retired from McAlpin Industries in Rochester as a tool maker. Don was a past member of the Mount Upton Fire Department and the Norwich Elks (BPOE) and a current member of the Bradenton, Florida Moose Lodge. Ritter, Norman A. - Norman A. Ritter. Sr., 83, of Newark, died Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Seneca Nursing Home. Norman was born in LaCrosse, WI, on Oct. 2, 1923, son of Paul and Matilda Huxsahl Ritter. He worked for 25 years for Farrell Corp. in Rochester. He also worked for the Rose City Drive and Capitol Theatre in Newark as a projectionist. He served in the Army in the Normandy Invasion; served in the 3rd Army under George Paton; and served in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the American Legion of Phelps, Seeley Post. Norman attended St. Mark's Church, and was a avid model train buff and collected many model trains. He also collected vintage old movies of years past. Friend called at Schulz Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Ct., Newark. Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Church, S. Main St. Burial in East Newark Cemetery with full military rites accorded. Potter, Frederick - Frederick James Potter, 73, died August 29, 2007 at the Newark Hospital. He will be buried in Fayetteville. He was born September 7, 1933 in Oneida, son of the late James Potter and Ida Alguire Massey. He worked in Syracuse, and later lived in Lyons, before going to the DeMay Living Center in Newark. He is survived by his son Steven Potter of East Syracuse; daughters Jackie and Robert Baulick of Auburn, Kathy and William McKane of Alabama; sister Dorothy Stevens; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Janet in 1959; son Frederick in 1981 and his sister Jeannine Woods.

Hlavac, Grace L. Desbrow Skelly - Grace Lillian Hlavac, 95, of Newark, died peacefully Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Hlavac was born the daughter of the late Fred and Emile Keeping Desbrow on October 20, 1911 in Rochester, New York. During WWII, she made parachutes before becoming a hairdresser. Mrs. Hlavac was a hairdresser for over 40 years, having two shops in Rochester and one in Florida. She was a past member of the Palmyra Moose Club and enjoyed playing golf. At the age of 80, she received an award for a hole-in-one contest. Mrs. Hlavac enjoyed music and playing the organ. Mrs. Hlavac leaves her son Bernard and Carol A. Skelly of Wolcott; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; stepson, Dr. Harry and Connie Hlavac of California; son-in-law Charles McDaniel; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two husbands, Bernard Skelly in 1971 and Harry Hlavac in 1981; her daughter Mary Shirley Ann McDaniel, a granddaughter and a grandson; brother Fred and sister Dorothy.

He had moved to California to be with his daughter, Marie. He was a fabulous father and will be missed greatly. Arnitz, Anthony J. Jr. - Anthony J. Arnitz Jr. of Bloomfield, died peacefully at the Serenity House in Victor on August 26, 2007 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Dianne 'Queenie' and caring father of Tonya (Aaron) Linderman, best friend and father of AJ (Johanna) Arnitz III, and grandfather of Mia Elizabeth Linderman. Reaves, Milton Sr. - Milton Reaves Sr., of Sodus, suddenly went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2007. Lagenor, Gary L. - Gary L. Lagenor, 65, of Newark, died August 26, 2007 surrounded by his loving family, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Gary and his wife, Diana owned and operated a business, Lagenor's Inc., a home decorating business, in Newark for over 25 years. Gary was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, the '1249 Club', a Trustee for the August Mauer Post #286, a past trustee for the Village of Newark and has been very active in many civic and community organizations. He is survived by his wife, Diana (Hall) Lagenor; two daughters, Stephanie (Matthew) Cass, and Jennifer (Todd) Tones; two sons, Peter (Kristen) Lagenor, and Brad (Jennifer Graham) Lagenor; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Janice (James) Finn of Macedon; mother-in-law Fayetta Hall; sister-in-law Sandra (Hall) McMenamin; 3 nephews and a niece. VanDemortel, Patricia G. - Patricia Gail 'Pat' VanDemortel, 68, of Newark died Wednesday, August 22, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Family and friends may call today (Saturday, Aug. 25) from 7 to 9 and Sunday (Aug.26) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. A Funeral Mass will be Monday (Aug.27) at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, South Main St. in Newark. Burial will follow in Newark Cemetery. In memory of Pat, please consider donations to a charity of choice. Pat was born the daughter of the late Floyd and Florence Fillmore Mayeu on August 20, 1939 in Rochester, NY. She was a 1957 graduate of the Wayne Central Schools. Pat was a member of St. Michael's Church, she and her husband Norm, would pray each morning for their children, friends and country. She is a member of the Newark Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the Northern Central Ladies Auxiliary; she had served as Past President for both. Pat was the current President of the VFW Post 2883 Ladies Auxiliary. She was Chairperson for the Kiddie Day Parade for many years. In past years, Pat enjoyed bowling, winning the 1960 Bowling Classic. She loved her family very much and enjoyed going to the High School Football and Softball games. But her favorite was being a stay-at-home mom and being there for her children and grandchildren as they came along. Baking and cooking was a specialty for Pat. In the early days she would bake cookies and set them on the back porch rail to cool. They would all disappear with the help of the neighborhood children. Pat would bake cookies and bring them to the fire hall once a week for the guys to enjoy. Pat will be missed and remembered by her loving husband of 46 years, Vincent 'Norm'; sons James and his friend Eileen Hill, and Christopher (Carol) both of Newark; daughters Laurie (Bobby) Furr of NC and Eileen VanDemortel and her friend Anthony Scotti of Newark; grandchildren Corrie, Brian, Derek, Brad, Alli, Joey, Kaitlin, Erin, Rick, Emily, Julianna, Dillon, Olivia and Joshua; brother Michael (Debbie) Mayeu of Marion; sisters Sharon (William) Bergeson, Donna (Ken) Henderson and Geraldine (Allen) Dudley all of Ontario; many nieces and nephews. Castle, Sandra - Sandra Castle, 52, better known as 'Sam Rose', died Monday, August 21, 2007 at Rochester General Hospital. Sandra was born on February 29, 1955 in Rochester, the daughter of Leonard and Barbara Rose Gessin. Survivors include her father and stepmother Leonard and Barbara Gessin of Honeoye, companion David Hanselman of Newark, good friend Cindy Napoleon and several siblings. Yonker, Emerson W. - Emerson W. Yonker, 72, of Kemp Dr., Macedon, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic. Emerson was born in Amaranth, PA on January 20, 1935, a son to Clem and Margaret Ward Yonker. He was a veteran of the Army from 1953 - 1955 and a past Village of Macedon board member, building inspector, as well as a member of the fire department and the Timeless Classic Car Club. He retired from American Can in Fairport in 1989. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Erma; two sons, Steve (Dawn) of Macedon, Jeff (DeeDee) of Macedon; daughter, Patty Yonker of Florida; six grandchildren, Tim, Lucas, Kelli, Taylor, Jessica and Marisa; sister, Doris James of Lyons; nephew, Michael James; niece, Michelle Newville; aunts, uncles and cousins. Wilson, Charles H. - Charles H. Wilson, 86, of North Rose, a resident of the Wayne County Nursing Home, passed away Monday, August 13, 2007 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Charlie was born June 19, 1921 in Barnes County, North Dakota, a son to Benjamin and Lu Hayes Wilson. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII and was a member of the 'Battle of the Bulge' having 5 stars. He was a member of the American Legion and was an F&AM (Masons) and a past Town of Rose Councilman for a number of years. Charlie retired as the Director of Technical Services for Curtis Burns - Rochester. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Lorraine; seven children, Jim (Sharon), Charlene (Robert) Clement, John (Millie), Vicki (John) Bousquin, Kevin (Linda), Brian (Joyce), and, Scot (Sally), all of North Rose; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Pluta of Ohio and Marge Shaad of Mayfield; sister-in-law, Ruth Wilson of Geneva; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his two grandsons, Tim Wilson and Robert O'Connor, and brother, Hayes Wilson. Stoddard, Rachel - Rachel Stoddard, 95, formerly of Newark, died August 11, 2007 at her home in the Madonna Towers in Minnesota. All Services will be private. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Clifton Springs. Rachel was born May 15, 1912 in Newark, daughter of Parke and Maude Reeves. She graduated from Newark High School in 1930 and from Brockport College in 1934. She taught school at Sand Hill School for two years, then in Clifton Springs from 1936-38, before returning to Newark, where she would teach until her retirement in 1970. An active member of the Presbyterian Church in Newark, she directed both the Junior and Senior Choirs. Upon retiring, she became involved in volunteer work in the hospitals Gift Shop, the Blood Bank, and Friends of the Library. She was cast in several Newark Players musicals; including Harvey, and Bone Chiller in 1991. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Newark Country Club for over 50 years, and enjoyed bowling and cross-country skiing. She and her husband did much international traveling after he retired in 1977. She and Lee moved to Rochester, Minnesota in 1996 to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law. Rachel is survived by her husband, Lee Stoddard, of Rochester, MN; daughter, Susan Lee Stoddard, Ph.D., and Susan's husband, Stephen Carmichael, Ph.D. of Rochester, MN. Salisbury, E. Louise - E. Louise Salisbury, 89, a former resident of Quail Summit, Canandaigua and Phelps, died Thursday, August 9, 2007, in the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic's Extended Care Unit. Mrs. Salisbury was born February 12, 1918 in Portland, Maine, the daughter of the late Wesley and Bertha Morris Prugh. Louise graduated from Batavia High School and attended Bryn Mawr College. She worked in administration for both Jackson & Perkins and Garlock for a number of years. A member of the United Church of Phelps and past commander of the Tuesday Club, Mrs. Salisbury was also a trustee of the Phelps Community Library. Most important to her was raising her family and helping her husband John 'Barney' Salisbury run their family fruit farm, Sunnyside Farms, in Phelps. Together they were active in the Rotary Foreign Exchange and American Field Service programs and hosted three foreign exchange students in their home. She enjoyed playing dominoes and bridge, reading, sewing, knitting, playing the piano and listening to music. She was predeceased by her husband, John 'Barney' Salisbury, who died in November 2006, and a granddaughter, Megan Salisbury. She is survived by her children, John (Diane) Salisbury of Concord, NH; Philip (Mary) Salisbury of Springfield, IL, Paul (Jeanne) Salisbury of Newark, Elizabeth 'Betsey' (Joseph) Homer of Scotia, Sally (Mark) Zelonis of Zionsville, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 1, at the United Church of Phelps with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Carne, L. Stanley II - Mr. L. Stanley Carne II, of E. Dezeng St., Clyde died Friday, August 10, 2007, at the Pines of Peace Hospice Home in Ontario after a courageous battle with cancer. Stanley was born June 25, 1953 in Lewiston, Maine, the son of Lloyd S. and Priscilla Colby Carne. He had been a resident of Clyde since 1982, and prior to that had lived in Newark. Stanley was most recently employed by the Pliant Corp. in Macedon, and prior to that had worked for Fold-Pak Corp. in Newark for over 23 years until its closing. He also had been employed as the town of Galen bookkeeper and was the bookkeeper for the Wayne County Water Authority. On November 24, 1979 he married the former Caryl Jinks. He was active in his churches, and had driven a church bus for over 16 years for the Maranatha Baptist Church in Lyons and the Heritage Baptist Church in Palmyra, driving children for church services and Sunday school. Stan enjoyed sports, especially golf and bowling. At Stanley's request, there will be no prior calling hours. He was predeceased by his father, Lloyd, in 2003. He is survived by his wife of over 27 years, Caryl Carne of Clyde; his son, Nathan S. (Lesley) Carne of Newark; his daughter, Jennifer Carne of Clyde; his mother, Priscilla Carne of Greenville, SC; his brothers, Jerre (Jennifer) Carne, and Chris Carne; his sisters, Daphne (Scott) Bashor and Camillia Cole all of Greenville, SC; and several nieces and nephews. Boyer, Stephen C. - Stephen C. Boyer, 84, of Salter Road, North Rose, passed away Friday, August 10, 2007, at the Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus. Steve was born April 26, 1923 in the town of Huron, a son to John S. and Grace Curtis Boyer. He was a 65 year member of the Rose Grange, a life member of the North Rose United Methodist Church and past Sunday School treasurer. He was also a past treasurer for the North Rose/Huron Fire District. Steve retired from the North Rose Wolcott School as a custodial worker and bus driver and continued working for the town of Rose. Clevenger, 'Jack' - Charles 'Jack' Clevenger, 76, of Newark died August 9, 2007 at his daughter's home with his family by his side. Jack was born the son of the late William and Jesse Mellott Clevenger on Sept. 2, 1930 in Emmaville, PA. He came to Newark in 1948 and worked at several places including the Newark Developmental Center retiring in 1986. Jack was a past member of the Newark Elks Lodge and the Marine Corps League. He was involved in many veterans activities and Memorial Services. Jack was a member of the Newark American Legion Post 286 and the Newark VFW Post 2883. He was named Legionnaire of the Year in 2002. The funeral home proudly flies the Marine Corps flag in honor of his service to our country during WWII and the Korean War. Jack enjoyed fire arms, hunting, trapping and the great outdoors in general. He loved repairing antique clocks and showed great patience working on the small parts. However, his biggest joy was his 1946 2N Ford tractor. Jack is survived by his wife of 41 years, Edith Garland Clevenger; sons Scott (Debbie) of Sandy Creek, Jack and Brian Clevenger both of Newark; daughters Christina (Richard) Carr of Newark and Kim Vazquez of Newark; nine grandchildren and one great grandson; brothers Ivan of PA., Billy (Grace) of Lyons and Ray (Margie) Clevenger of N. Rose; sisters Mildred Powers of Maryland, Adrianne (Floyd) Palmer of Pennsylvania, June (Jr.) Smith of Wolcott and Bonnie (Joe) Smith of Wolcott; many nieces and nephews; a special buddy John Baker. Jack was predeceased by his brother Dale and sisters Pauline Carnell and Nancy Decker. Family and friends may call Sunday (August 12) from 4 to 7 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. Newark American Legion and the Newark VFW will have a prayer service at 6:30. A graveside service will be Monday (August 13) at 10 a.m. in Newark Cemetery, with full military honors. Davis, Allen S. - Allen S. Davis, 73, of Sodus, passed away on August 7, 2007. Allen was retired from I.B.E.W. Local #1249, was an avid golfer and fisherman, U.S. Army veteran, member of the American Legion Post in Dexter, NY, the VFW Post in Sodus and the Sodus Masonic Lodge F & AM. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sylvia; children, Susan (Richard) Bartl of Batavia, Mark (Julie) of South Barrington, IL and Michael of Sodus; 4 grandchildren; half brother, James (Ruth) Matteson; 2 nieces; several cousins. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 at Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main St., where a funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation. Weezorak, Britt C. - Britt C. Weezorak, 23, of Ladue Avenue, Clifton Springs, passed away, Tuesday, July 31, 2007. Britt was born June 25, 1984 in Canandaigua, the son of Martin Weezorak and Darlene Kishbaugh. He attended Midlakes High School and was formerly employed by USA Gas in Palmyra. Britt enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He also liked tattoos and collecting rocks, gems and minerals. Ever since Britt was young, he loved to drive anything with a motor in it - cars, three wheelers, tractors. He was a loving father, son, brother and friend. Britt will be sadly missed by all of his friends and family. He was predeceased by his grandfather, George. Britt is survived by his fiancee, Melinda Rogers, of Clifton Springs; children, Alexis, Tanya, Hannah and one on the way; parents, Darlene (Curtis Evans) Kishbaugh, of Clifton Springs and Martin (Diane) Weezorak, of Holley; sisters, Laura Weezorak, of Clifton Springs and Emily Weezorak, of Holley; brother, Joshua Weezorak, of Holley; grandparents, Martin (Jaenette) Weezorak, of Brockport and Alean Kishbaugh, of Palmyra; great- grandmother, Bessie Cornish, of Brockport; aunts, uncles and several cousins. Goetzman, Edna A. - Edna A. Goetzman, 85, of Maple Street Road, Lyons, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (Aug. 4, 2007) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Friends and family are calling today (Tuesday, Aug. 7) at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons, where a memorial service will be held. Burial will be in the South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by her brother, Robert Goetzman of Lyons; three nieces, Robin Sherwood, Yvonne Murray and Patricia Learn; great-nieces, Andrea Decola and Lori LiLeo; great-nephew, Dakota Learn; and great-great-nieces, Brittany and Kaitlyn DeCola. Fratangelo, Mary S. - Mary S. Fratangelo, 83, of Lyons, died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at St. Mary’s Hospice, Rochester. Mary was born in Reed, PA, June 7, 1918, a daughter of Leonard and Concepta Bellavia Bellanca. She had worked for J.L. Hammett Co. of Lyons. Mary was an active volunteer at St. Michael’s Church in Lyons for 54 years, delivered Meals on Wheels for 17 years, and worked in the Lyons Thrift Shop for 2 years. She served as president of the Lyons Manor where she lived for 2 years and collected food for the food cupboard. A member of the Lyon Golden Agers, she was an active Democrat and liked to play golf. Friends may call Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at Boeheim Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William St., Lyons. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Lyons. Mrs. Emmel in her later years enjoyed reading Danielle Steel romance novels. She was a member of Park Presbyterian Church in Newark for many years. Mrs. Emmel will be remembered by her son James F. Emmel of Cary, North Carolina; grandchildren, James A. Emmel and Elizabeth A. Geldof, Mary Johnson - Mary Johnson Geldof, 95, of Marion, died Friday, July 27, 2007 at Piedmont Living Center, SC. Born in Marion, Mrs. Geldof was the widow of Jacob Geldof and the daughter of the late Abram and Moria Naeye Johnson. She was a musician, and played the piano, guitar, harmonica and accordion. She enjoyed collecting butterflies and ceramic cats. She was a member of Dutch Reformd Church and Caleb's Kin at Southside Baptist Church. Most of all, she dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and knew all their names and birthdates. Mrs. Geldof is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Cook and her husband Robert of Taylors, SC; 4 grandchildren, Pastor Bob Cook and his wife Jean of Streamwood, IL, Jim Cook and his wife Monique of Greenville, SC, Greg Cook and wife Jessica of Chattanooga, TN, and Julie Thomas and her husband Kyle of Taylors, SC ; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters. Ellsworth, Isabelle D. - Isabelle Ellsworth of Marion, born on December 17, 1925, wife of the late Bernard A. Ellsworth, residents of Marion for 40 years passed away on April 3, 2007, from a complicated illness. She is survived by daughter, Barbara J. Martinez of California, and three sons, Bernard A. Ellsworth II, residing in Maryland, Michael B. Ellsworth in North Carolina, and David B. Ellsworth of Newark. Fletcher, John N. - John N. Fletcher, 60, of Mud Lane Extension, Sodus, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at his residence. John was born Aug. 9, 1946 in Sodus, the son of Nelson and Mabel Mitchell Fletcher. He spent his childhood in Sodus, later moving to Waterloo, where he had lived for more than 30 years. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Vietnam conflict. He was a retired mason and carpenter for the Veterans Administration Hospital, Canandaigua. He was a life member of the Waterloo VFW Post 6433 and a member of the post's Color Guard. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed his time in the Adirondack Mountains. He is survived by one daughter, Colleen Fletcher of Penn Yan; two sons, Thomas (Felicia Strong) Fletcher of Waterloo, and Daniel (Wendy) Fletcher of Seneca Falls; two grandchildren, Katelyn O'Brien and Damon Fletcher; two sisters, Barbara (Paul) DeRue of Marion and Joyce (Gary) Jackson of Marion; one brother, Ralph (Rose Smith) Fletcher of North Rose; several nieces and nephews. He is survived by two daughters, Regina Sparks of Newark, Lucinda (Albert) Bell of Durango, CO; son Terry (Christine) Miller of Randleman, NC; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, James (Roberta) of Marion, Perry of Glen Richey, PA, Fred (Susan) of Henrietta, Richard (Carolyn) of Henrietta; two sisters, Gail (Robert) Wright of Melbourne, FL, Norma Proud of Buffalo; several nieces and nephews. He was born and raised on Ohio St. in Rochester, NY and joined the Navy in 1943, shortly af ter Pearl Harbor. He mar ried Dolores McGrath in 1946, and was married 56 years until her death. They resided in Rochester then Walworth, where they raised their five children. Jack worked as a general contractor then as a Union carpenter until retirement. He served as president of Rochester District Carpenter's Union #85 for several years. The son of John L. and. Adelaide Collins of East Bloomfield, he is predeceased by brothers J. Roger, Robert, Thomas, and James and sisters, Virginia, Shirley and Ruth. Surviving siblings are Doris Norman, Margaret Ann, William, and Richard Collins. He is survived by children Joseph M. (Ann), Kathleen (Tom Wendt), Eileen (Jay Vestal), Rita Herko, and Christopher, and grandchildren Patrick and Devon Collins, Collin, Mary, Jay, and Joseph Vestal, and Jonathan and Kathryn Herko. Shipley, Mary K. (Klumb) - Mary K. (Klumb) Shipley, 85, of Williamson, died July 19, 2007 at the Seneca Nursing Home in Waterloo. A graduate of Limestone College in South Carolina. Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister. She brightened up every room she was in. Survived by her loving, devoted children, Kathleen (Thomas) Metzler of Tulsa, OK, Anne Shipley of Waterloo, son, Hugh Shipley of Canandaigua; special grandchildren, Mary (Matt) Bruch, Sarah Metzler, Peter Ozog; brothers, Harvey Klumb of Ashville, NC., David (Annamary) Klumb of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law, Gerry (Maver) Becker of Verne, NY. Predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Lucile (Andrews) Klumb; and her beloved husband, Kenneth Shipley. At her request calling hours will not be observed and the courtesy of no flowers. Mason Davis, Sandra Jean - Sandra Jean Mason Davis, 47, of Lyons, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at her residence in Murfreesboro, TN. Predeceased by her father William Mason; survived by her 3 daughters, Katie, Aimee, and Amber Davis, all of TN; mother, Irene Mason Norris of Lyons; sister, Ann VanKeauburg of Rochester; brother, George Mason of FL; half-brothers, Richard Norris of Lyons, Don, Ward of Sodus and half-sister, Mary Lou Turazzo of Newark. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons, where a memorial service will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Huling-Hummel officiating. Sandra was a native of Lyons and graduated from Lyons High School in 1978. She was a veteran of the US Air Force and was a dedicated LPN.

DeRosia, Mavis B. - Mavis B. DeRosia, 74, of Sodus, entered into rest on July 22, 2007. Survived by her loving and devoted children, Cathy (Brad) Shaw of Williamson; Leo Jr. (Janice) DeRosia of Sodus, Kim (Ken) Hofstra of Sodus, Katrina (John) Milton of Marion; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Laura Rawson of NH; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Leo A. DeRosia Sr., daughters, Kelly Burke and Carol Barry. Griffin, Marian J. - Marian J. Griffin, 83, of Clifton Springs, passed away Monday, July 16, 2007, at Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home. Marian was born November 24, 1923 in Clifton Springs, the daughter of the late Howard and Julia Lush. Until her retirement, Marian was a R.N. at the office of Dr. Richard Garnish in Clifton Springs. She was a member of the Seneca Sports Car Club and enjoyed boating. Marian was happiest entertaining family and friends at her home. She will be sadly missed by all of her loving friends and family. She is survived by her children, Don Griffin, of Phelps and Janice (Wayne) Smith, of Newark; grandchildren, Adrienne, Erin and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Cody, Shane and Kayla; sisters, Delores Poray, of Mississippi, Marge Wyffels, of Manchester and Lois, of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. Andrzejewski, Helen E. (Rapacki) - Helen E. Andrzejewski, of Palmyra entered into rest on July 19, 2007 in her 87th year. Helen was a Xerox retiree. She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Stella (Wysmulek) Rapacki; husband, Joseph Andrzejewski; and godson, John M. Azzarone. Survived by her devoted godson, Daniel A. Azzarone of Greece; special friends, Angle and Dan Azzarone of Gates, John DiMarco of Rochester; and other dear friends. Rice, Kenneth H. - Kenneth H. Rice, 87, of Newark went home to his Lord and his family on Thursday, July 19, 2007. Family and friends may call today (Monday, July 23) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the East Palmyra Christian Reformed Church. A Funeral Service will be Tuesday (July 24) at 10 a.m. at the church. Committal service will follow immediately after the funeral service in the East Palmyra Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Rice was born in Kendall, NY, on May 26, 1920, son of the late Earl and Florence Cleveland Rice. He was a graduate of Newark High School and served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps. The funeral home proudly flies the Air Force flag in honor of his service to our country. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant at Army Air Field in Eagle Pass, Texas, flew many different airplanes and was an acrobatics instructor as part of his duties during that time. Mr. Rice was a faithful member of the East Palmyra Christian Reformed Church for many years and served on many committees during that time. He was also very involved in the Christian School organization, overseeing the construction of the new school in East Palmyra. Mr. Rice loved music, sang in the church choir and in a quartet.
