Briggs, Faith - Faith E. Briggs 28, of Lyons, died from injuries sustained in a car accident on March 30, 2008. Faith was born Dec. 26, 1979, a daughter to Charles S. Briggs and Barbara Forest Ruggles. She was employed at Ultra-Life Batteries in Newark, and was attending Finger Lakes Community College, where she was pursuing a paralegal career. She is survived by her son, Luke; life partner, Kari, and her children, Dakota, Cody and Brett; mother, Barbara, and stepfather, Charles Ruggles; five brothers, Adam, David, Matthew, John and Daniel; sister, Sarah; niece, Elizabeth; and nephew, Alexander. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 3 at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons, where a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, 4 with the Rev. Rockefeller, Vicky - Victoria Vicky F. Rockefeller, 49, of Newark died peacefully at her home on March 31, 2008, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Vicky was born the daughter of Lester and Florence Blood Jannain on July 23, 1958 in Batavia. She graduated from Pavilion High School and attended Mohawk Community College for two years. Vicky worked for Wegmans in Newark for 17 years as a Service Team Leader. She attended the United Church of Phelps and enjoyed reading many books. One of Vickys favorite pastimes was working in the garden with her husband, where daisies held a special place in her heart. She will be remembered by her loving husband of 29 years Edward Rockefeller; her sons John and Michael; daughter Jennifer; mother Florence Jannain; brother Raymond Jannain; sisters Jean (Richard) Walker, Linda (Bill) Hume and Marcia Reeser; mother-in-law Rosemary Rockefeller; brothers-in-law Daniel (Deborah), David (Donna) and Lynn (Deborah) Rockefeller; many nieces, nephews and friends. Vicky was predeceased by her father Lester; brother James; sister Cindy, and father-in-law Asahel Rockefeller. Doyle, Shirley - Shirley J. Doyle, 85, died March 29, 2008. Shirley was a long time resident of Rochester and worked at ABVI. She was predeceased by parents, Robert and Ruth Doyle; brothers, Robert, Harvey, Harold & John. Surviving family members are Arthur, Sandy (Robert) Brown, Elva Smith of VA, Ruth Kittelberger, Mary Beth, Martha Ney of FL, Sharon (Lee) Weaver of NC; many nieces, nephews. Marsteiner, Ada - Ada I. Marsteiner, 83, a resident of the Wayne County Nursing Home, died March 30, 2008. Ada was born June 28, 1924, in Hartwell, West Virginia, to Robert L. and Uva Quesenberry Lowery. She retired from Ultralife Batteries in Newark. She is survived by her four children, Uva Davis, of Lyons, Michael, of Lyons, Robert, of Newark and Alan (Terri), of California; several grandchildren and great- grandchildren; brothers; William (Phyllis) Lowery, of Palmyra and Melvin (Doris) Lowery, of Lyons; sister, Kaylene (Alfred) Brummitt, of Virginia; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1977 by her husband, Charles, and by brothers and sisters. Byrne, Lori - Lori (Statucki) Byrne, 50, of Henderson, NV, formerly of Newark, died March 30, 2008. She was predeceased by husband Dusty Byrne and mother Mickey Ceravolo. She is survived by her children, Jessica (Jimmy) Salisbury, Jeremiah Wagner, Randy Jinks, Adam Jinks, Samantha (BJ) Statucki and Abigail Byrne; her father Chuck (Judy) Statucki; sisters Vicki (Jim) McBride, Donna (Bill) Catchman; nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Buyck, Elmer - Elmer J. Buyck, 86, formerly of Lyons, died March 31, 2008 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Elmer was born Aug. 29, 1921 in Marion, son of James & Elsie (DeNering) Buyck. He had worked for Gould Pumps in Seneca Falls for 10 years, and before that for Garlock Co. in Sodus. He was a former fireman for Sodus Center Fire Dept., and a former Moose member. He was a member of Sodus Bay Height Country Club where he was an avid golfer. He is survived by his son, James (Karen) of Sodus; grandson, Andrew of Ft. Collins, Colorado; sister, Marge (Leo) Fletcher of Sodus; nieces, nephews. He was predeceased in 2003 by his wife Lorraine, and in 2000 by his grandson, Sgt. Jason Buyck, U.S. Marine Corps. Messenger, Donald - Donald Hathaway Messinger, 98, of Clyde died March 31, 2008 at Highland Hospital. Don was born April 17, 1909 in Sodus, the son of the late Perry and Ella Hathaway Messinger. He was a graduate of Colgate University Class of 1931. Before opening Messinger's Variety Store in 1936, Donald joined the W.T. Grant Company and worked at several locations across the country. Messinger's Variety Store was a mainstay in the community of Clyde for 62 years until it closed in 2001, when Donald retired at age 92. He was a World War II Navy veteran and was active in the Brown-DiSanto Post 947 of the VFW and the Bud Hinman Post # 226 of the American Legion. He was also active un the Clyde Chamber of Commerce, the Clyde Volunteer Fire Department and Fire Police, American Field Service, And the American Red Cross. He was also a member of the Clyde Rotary Club where he was bestowed a Paul Harris Fellow with 65 years of perfect attendance. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Clyde; after it closed, he was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church of Lyons. Surviving are his wife, Thelma H. Messinger of Clyde, his children Donald (Sally) Messinger Jr. of Shaker Heights, OH, and Richard (Mary) Messinger of East Rochester; grandchildren and one great-grandson; brother-in-law Clarence (Phyllis) Hubbard of Hamburg, numerous nieces, nephews, and their children. He was predeceased by his sisters, Eleanor Messinger Gilbert of Syracuse and Lucile Messinger of Sodus. Wilson, Chet - Chester F. Wilson, 72, of Ontario died March 29, 2008. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Lou and second wife, Sheila; sister, Eugenia Martin. Barber, Arthur - Arthur Barber, Sr., 88, of Williamson died in March. He : Born December 2, 1919 in Tallahassee Florida. The only son of Ardie Mae Drayton and Allen Barber. He married Ethel Peterson in Georgetown, GA on January 20, 1945. They moved to Sanford Florida and later settled in Wayne County where he raised his family. In 1977 he became a Deacon in his church. Arthur was predeceased by sons Kenneth Barber and Timothy Barber. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 63 years, Ethel; and 14 children - Edna Mae Horn of Moultrie, GA, Moses (Pearl) Barber, Arthur (Dorothy) Barber, Jr., Margie Wilson, Mary Barber of Newport News, VA, Linda Turgerson, Gloria Hatchett of Virginia, Bernard Barber, Ardie Barber, Janice Barber of Vero Beach, FL, Ronald (Jackie) Barber, Deborah (Frank) Jackson, Brenda Barber, Phillip Barber; 87 grandchildren; 127 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren. Tilburg, Lucile - Lucille Annette Tilburg, 87, of Newark, died March 29th, 2008 at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Lucille was born in Newark, August 10, 1920, daughter of Carlton and Florence Wagner Stewart. She worked for 35 years for Garlock Company in Palmyra, where she was a member of the Old Timers Club. She was a 50 year member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and The Newark Senior Citizens. She had also lived at Armstrong Living Center. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ina DeFisher of Newark, nieces, Marilyn Miraglia, Beverly Keukelaar, Elaine Bean, nephews Chris and Larry Tilburg; Larry and Carlton Stewart. She was predeceased in 1995 by her husband Harold, and by brothers Harold Stewart in 2004 and Benson Stewart in 2008. Friends may call Tuesday, April 1 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Court in Newark, where services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

VanDeWalle, Donna - Donna M. VanDeWalle, 65, of Lyons, passed died March 26, 2008, at Newark Hospital. Donna was born on Oct. 11, 1942, in Massena, a daughter to Fred H. and Stella Clemmo Beggs. She was employed by Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Services Office as a family care provider for over 20 years, and she also did 'respite' care. She was a member of the Lyons United Methodist Church and volunteered at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Durgan Ritz (Joe), of Lyons and Deanna Durgan (Rick), of Lyons; three grandchildren, Coty Rooze, Maddesen and Nathan Bornheimer; one sister, Barbara (Joe) Gardner, of Massena; three brothers, Robert (Joan) Beggs, of Florida, Bruce (Diane) Beggs, of Norfolk and Barry (Midge) Beggs, of Norfolk; special niece, Wendy (Phil) Chapman, of Massena; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many special friends, including Bernie Dowd, Gale Cooper, Sandy Allen, Maude Brown, Ron VanDeWalle and Belle Bryant. She was predeceased in 1975 by her first husband, Donald E. Durgan. Markowski, Richard - Richard M. 'Ski' Markowski, 71, of Savannah died February 28, 2008. He was a Navy Veteran, having served on active duty for more than 25 years. He is survived by brothers Raymond (Virginia) of Savannah, Frank (Laila) of Hadlock, NC, Daniel (Elaine) of Williamson; sister Ceceila Andreno of Inwood, NY; many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass was held at St. Patrick's Church in Savannah. Spring interment with military honors; Colvin-Norton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Cullinan, Randy - Randy M. Cullinan, 57, of Lyons died March 22, 2008 at Rochester General Hospital. An Elks service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, with the memorial service following at the Fellowship of Faith Church, 1939 Stokes Road, in Lock Berlin. Pastor Van Price will officiate. Randy was born Jan. 7, 1951, in Lyons, the son of Donald and Juanita Newville Cullinan. She worked for Indian Summer as a fruit processor. Onnalee was a 45-year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sodus Center Vol. Fire Dept. Crosby, Shirley - Shirley Jane Crosby of Phelps died on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008. Arrangements entrusted to Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main St., Phelps. A celebration of Shirley's life was held at Park Presbyterian Church in Newark. Born in 1936 in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania to Jasper and Gladys Adams, she was the oldest of five children. She was a dedicated teacher in the Phelps-Clifton Springs school district for 30 years. She was a devoted member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Sorority. She was a past president of the Omega Chapter and served as State Parliamentarian. She also belonged to the Finger Lakes Chorale, the Phelps Clifton Springs Community Theater, the Phelps Croquet Club and the Phelps-Clifton Springs Retired Teachers Association. She was a past president of the Phelps Rotary Club and a member of the Newark Rotary Club. She was an advocate for organ donations. She was voted the Phelps/Clifton Springs Business and Professional Women's Club Woman of the Year in 1999. She was active in the United Church of Phelps for many years and was a current member of Park Presbyterian Church. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Chet, in the Resthaven Cemetery in Phelps. She is predeceased by her parents, Gladys and Jasper; and her sisters, Joan Tuthill, Jean Adams and Elvene Kresge. She is survived by her children, Scott Milsom, Tracy and John Clingerman; her grandchildren, Sean Milsom and Chloe Pieters; her step-grandchildren, Karli and Zackery Clingerman; her step-daughters, Rachel Riccione, Susan, Julie and Vivian Crosby; her uncle, John Adams; her brother, Bill (Ruth) Adams; several nieces and nephews; her close circle of friends who held her in constant light, her loving sisters in Delta Kappa Gamma and her devoted caregivers at the Geneva Dialysis Center and the Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic. Arliss, Linda Ann - Linda Ann Arliss, 59, of Clyde died March 22, 2008 at the DeMay Living Center in Newark, following a lengthy illness. Linda was born Oct. 31, 1948, in Lyons, the daughter of the late Ward and Ethel Bundy Syron. She was a 1966 graduate of Clyde High School and the E.W.V. Business Institute in Newark. She had worked for the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Service, and then at the Savannah National Bank and Bankers Trust in Clyde. Linda is survived by her husband of 40 years, A. Jerry Arliss; one aunt, Evelyn Bundy, of North Rose; and cousins, Ken and Carol. Visitation will be today, March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Colvin-Norton Funeral Home, 13081 West Church St., in Savannah. Linda's funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 27 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barbara DeAngelis of the Clyde United Methodist Church officiating. Siler, Hubert - Hubert A. Siler, 77, of Newark, died March 25, 2008, at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. He was born on June 27, 1930 in Newark, the son of John and Anna Vanderbrook. A 1950 graduate of Newark High School, be served with the US Air Force in Misawa, Japan during the Korean Conflict. Hubert was a member of the Newark Elks Lodge 1249, the August Mauer Post 285, American Legion and the Arcadia Memorial Post 2883, VFW. For over 30 years, Hubert worked at the Newark Post Office, where he had been a postal clerk. He retired in 1990. His great wit, humor and generosity will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Margaret 'Marge' Siler; sons Mark (Lori) of Canandaigua and Steven (special friend Sara Todd) of Colorado; three granddaughters Lisa and Maria Siler of Rochester and Brandie Tillery of South Dakota, a great-grandson Hunter Tillery, two brothers Francis (Sue) and Richard (Delores) of Newark, several nieces and nephews. Cook, Sue Ann - Sue Ann Cook, 59, of Newark, died March 22, 2008, at the Newark Hospital. She was born September 17, 1948, in Palmyra, daughter of Elba and Margaret Brown Butler. For many years, she was a nurse's aide at St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home in Newark. She had worked at Clifton Springs Hospital and the Newark State School. She is survived by her sister Bonnie (Eugene) Mainville of Palmyra, a sister-in-law Linda Harvey of Rushville, a long time companion William Rodriguez, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sue Ann was predeceased by two brothers Richard Harvey and Walter Brown, a sister Violet VanDerwerf. Graveside services will be Friday, March 28, at the Palmyra Cemetery.

Ahroon, Courtney - Courtney Ahroon, 88, of Clifton Springs died March 17, 2008. She was born Mary Courtney Jenkins in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Savannah. She graduated from the School of Nursing at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore in 1942. She arrived in Clifton Springs in 1946 with her husband, Dr. William A. Ahroon, who joined the staff at Clifton Springs Hospital. While homemaking and raising children, she applied her creative skills to restoring their house on Teft Avenue (which was previously home to the VFW) to its original 1850's period. She was an avid golfer. After her divorce, she resumed her career as a registered nurse. Prior to her retirement, she was a nurse at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Canandaigua and at the Wayne County Nursing Home. By 1975, she had moved to Newark. She had a weekend retreat overlooking Keuka Lake. She returned to Clifton Springs in 2001. She is survived by her children: Jeanne Rogers, in San Bernadino, CA, William Ahroon Jr., of Enterprise, AL, Jo Tetherow, of Irondequoit, and Mary Ann Ahroon, of Woodstock; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Sholly, Frank - Frank J. Sholly, 83, of Lyons died March 21, 2008, surrounded by family. Frank was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Los Angeles (Pomona), California, to Frank J. and Elma B. Dietz Sholly. He was a veteran of the Army during World War II, serving under George Patton's 3rd Cavalry. He was a member of the Lyons VFW Post 5092, Lyons American Legion, and the Oasis Seniors. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Metz) Sholly; children, James (Valerie) Sholly of Penn Yan, Deborah (Cimineri) Sholly of MA and Keith (Kim) Sholly, of Lyons; 13 and 12 great-grandchildren; sister Mavis (Harold) Stevens of Michigan. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Sholly. A memorial service will be held at noon tomorrow, March 25, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spencer St., in Lyons, with the Rev. Jack Bailey officiating. Burial will be in South Lyons Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church or Lifetime Hospice.

Passalacqua, Anthony J. (Tony) - Anthony J. (Tony) Passalacqua, 79, of Newark/Waterloo died on Saturday, March 22, 2008 with his loving family at his side at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Family and friends may call Monday, March 24th from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark.  Father Mark Brewer will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 25 at St. Michael’s Church, South Main Street, Newark.  Burial will be in St. Columkill Cemetery in Seneca Falls. Mr. Passalacqua was born on June 10, 1928, in Geneva the son of Francis and Imaculata (Mary) Passalacqua.  He retired from New York State Electric and Gas after 38 years.  Friends may also remember him from his time working at the Town Pump.  Tony was strong in his faith and enjoyed volunteering much of his time to the churches in his communities.  He shared his gift of gardening with friends and family.  Tony was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all. Gilardo, Phil - Philip S. Gilardo, 75, of Newark, died March 19, 2008 at his home. He was born February 16,1933, in West New York, New Jersey, the son of Michael and Josephine Palladino Gilardo. He was a distributor for Rochester Pepsi for over 40 years. He then acted as a distributor for Sprite and was also a sales representative for Sams Club. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church, a member of the Newark Elks and had been a member Newark Council Knights of Columbus. Phil served with the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He is survived by is survived by his wife, Mary DiSanto Gilardo; daughter Chrisanne (Tim) Beardslee of Conesus; sister Gloria (Edward) Teshkoyan of West Caldwell, NJ; several nieces and nephews. David, Bill - William N. David, 68, died March 19, 2008. Bill was born Oct. 21, 1939 in Batavia, son of Nelson and Ida Morgan David. He was a detail man for many years, working on his own. Follette, Fred - Frederick Wallace Follette, 79, of Phelps died March 16, 2008, peacefully at his home. He was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Newark, the son of the late Wallace and Harriet Hickey Follette. He was a master sergeant in the Air Force until 1957; he then became a letter carrier for the Postal Service in Newark. After his retirement he loved to paint homes and assemble all kinds of puzzles and model airplanes. Frederick also enjoyed traveling to Florida. Frederick is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor Shepherd Follette, whom he was able to share over 50 wonderful years with. They have one son, Frederick W. Follette Jr., who lives in Penfield with his wife, Lauri, and their three children, Jessica, Shaynee and Jacques. Fred also has six siblings: three brothers, Harold (Lois) Follette, Robert Follette and Roger (Ruth) Follette; three sisters, Marian (John) Regan, Lucille Baker and Barbara Masclay; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main St., Phelps. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tunley, Eleanor - Eleanor D. Tunley of Sodus entered into rest on March 17, 2008 in her 90th year at Blossom View Nursing Home. Formerly of Tunley Rd., Sodus. Brand, Natalie - Natalie Gibby Brand, 94, died Friday, February 22, 2008, in Clifton Springs. Friends are invited to a celebration of her life at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Clifton Springs Hospital Chapel. Friends may contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in her memory. Natalie was born Feb. 19, 1914, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and was a graduate of Vassar and the University of Pennsylvania. She was a bacteriologist at Grasslands, Mount Cisco and Clifton Spring hospitals. She was an enthusiastic amateur ornithologist, conservationist and golfer. She was a longtime member of the Clifton Springs Hospital Women's Auxiliary, Tourist Club and Library. She is survived by her son, Robert G. Brand; daughter-in-law, Linda Ade Brand; and granddaughter, Julia. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. R. Willard Brand, in 1989. Schaeffer, Art - Arthur L. Schaeffer, 79, residing in Oswego, died March 14, 2008. Art was born March 22, 1928, in Buffalo, to Lawrence and Charlotte Horton Schaeffer. He retired from Rochester Gas & electric after 40 years of employment. He is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 61 years; son Lynn Schaeffer of California; daughter Susan (Howard) Olinsky of Oswego; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence (Julene) Schaeffer of Arizona. Fling, Margaret - Margaret 'Marge' Fling, 95, of Phelps died March 12, 2008 at her home. Marge was born May 28, 1912, in Sharon Hill, PA, daughter of Frank and Gertrude Muldoon Barthmaier. She had retired from the Phelps Post Office. She was a member of St. Francis Church and was active in the Rosary and Altar Society and the Phelps Community Food Cupboard. She was also active in CROP Walks, was a member of the Phelps Service Club and Phelps Board of Education. Mrs. Fling enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle. She was a world traveler and was a member of the All American Field Hockey Team. She is survived by two sons, Daniel A. Jr. (Donna) Fling of Geneva, and Gerald (Betsy) Fling of Rochester; daughters Margaret (Bob) Lash of Phelps, Kathryn Fling of California, Patricia E. (Wells) Bliven of Phelps; daughter-in-law, Geri Fling of Hamlin; brother, Jack (Jeanette) Barthmaier; sister-in-law, Patricia Barthmaier; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Duncan, Dorothy - Dorothy Scott Duncan, 85, died March 6, 2008 in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was born in Dundee, Scotland. She lived in Brooklyn and Newark (NY), before moving to Clearwater in 1964. She met her husband, Bruce Graham Duncan, at a dance held for Marines departing for service in WWII. They had five children. Dorothy worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. She enjoyed traveling, spending time in Montana with friends, and visiting family members around the state and country. She was predeceased by her husband Bruce, brother, Alexander, son, Robert and granddaughter, Merrick. Krause, Vivian - Vivian E. Krause, 85, of Newark died March 11, 2008. Vivian was born September 4, 1922 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, daughter of Fred and Evelyn Klatt Keip. After high school Vivian served her country during WWII. Stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas, she served as and Aviation Machinist's Mate second class. Vivian married Walter Krause and dedicated herself to raising her five children. She was a member at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Newark. She is survived by two sons: Michael 'Mick' (Linda) of Fairport, Jim (Becky) of Fairport; three daughters: Karen (Jeff) Fanning of Geneva, Janet Krause of Brighton, and Terra (Matt) Heigl of Henrietta, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Fred 'Fritz' (Marge) Keip of Grants Pass, Oregon, two sisters Elaine Belonger and Jean Kimmes both of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, nieces and nephews. DeVall, Don - Donald L. DeVall, 61, of Clifton Springs died March 10, 2008 after a battle with cancer. Don was born March 17, 1946 in Newark, a son to Donald W. and Gladys M. Vollersten DeVall. He was a veteran of the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 286. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting trucks, and was the owner of DeVall Drywall Scrapping. He was predeceased by his parents; he is survived by a son, Shawn (Kandace) DeVall; daughters, Shannon (William) Dake and Lori Harrington; six grandchildren, and long-time friend, Sally Field. Sherwood, Genevieve - Genevieve Sherwood, 78, died unexpectedly at Newark Hospital. Genevieve was born July 13, 1929 in Steuben County, the daughter of the late Daniel and Florence Foster Sherwood. Genevieve enjoyed many things including taking pictures, arts and crafts, crocheting and knitting the best, socializing with family and friends. She especially love the family dog, Buster, and campfires at the Family Care  Home. She will be remembered by her sister Pauline Brown of North Carolina and many staff and friends at the Finger Lakes DDSO. A service is planned for Thursday (March 13) at 2 p.m. at the Norman L. Lake, Richard - Richard H. Lake, 81, of Grist Mill Dr., Lyons, died March 7, 2008, at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Dick was born Sept. 24, 1926, in Clifton Springs, a son to W. Francis and Zelma Hildreth Lake. He was a veteran of the Army during World War II and was a member of the Lyons VFW Post 5092. He was a 68 year member of the Lyons United Methodist Church, and over 50 year member of the Eureka Grange and held many offices within the organization. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; three sons, Gerald (Chris) Lake of Iowa, Larry (Jeanette) Lake of Lyons, and Rodney (Lynnette) Lake of Marion; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased in 1993 by his first wife, Grace, and in 2006 by his brother Glenn Lake. Sill, William - William L. Sill, of Sodus Point and Geneva died in Pittsburgh, PA on March 6, 2008. William is survived by his wife Susan Berman-Sill; his father and mother Stewart and Dawn Sill; sister and brother-in-law Charlene and Stan Fleszar; nephews Mark and Daniel Fleszar; father-in-law Kurt Berman; sister-in-law Elizabeth Berman; aunts Elsie (Richard) Visser, Kaye (Gordon) Hershberger, and uncle Steven (Sharon) Sill. He was an internationally known sailor, boat builder, craftsman and innovator. The winner of three national yachting championships, he loved life, his family and working in his shop on his boats. Burgess, Betty - Margaret 'Betty' Burgess, 84, of Newark died March 9, 2008. She was born April 14, 1923 in Geneva, daughter of Linus and Katharine Mahan Heffron. Betty graduated from Geneva High School and worked as a secretary for Sterns Nursery. After marrying John Burgess she dedicated herself to being a homemaker. She worked at Sibleys in Newark until 1978. A communicant of St. Michael's Church she had been a member of the Rosary Altar Society and a current member of the Red Hat Society. Murrell, Ted - Ted C. Murrell, 54, died March 9, 2008. He was born December 18, 1953. He was predeceased by his father Alexander in 1980 and a sister, Peggy Walker in 2007. He is survived by his mother, Betty Walker of Walworth; three sons, Sean (Michelle) Murrell of Jacksonville, FL, Adam Murrell of Victor, and Robert (Jennifer) Murrell of Newark, and four grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (Judy) Murrell of Ontario, and Glenn (Sue) Murrell of Irondequoit; a sister, Jean (Richard) Johnson of Walworth. Jackson, Tim - Timothy J. Jackson, 45, of Sodus died March 4, 2008 in Georgia, unexpectedly, following an illness. Tim is survived by his wife Ayahna; children Alexandria, John Eric, DeAntrez, Imani and Zaniah; his mother Katherine Jackson; brothers and sisters Clarence, Earl, Carrie (Bernice), Lee (Wendy), Addison Ed (Denise) Gloria, Albert (Raelynn), Billy (Deserae), Laurie (Will), Angela, Jackie, Sherri, Trent and Devin Williams, Robert Harris; nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and friends. A 1981 graduate of Sodus Central School, Tim was a U.S. Army veteran where he had served as a military police officer. His military citations include the Army Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Army Commendation Medal. He was a Police Officer in Georgia, employed by the Butts County Sheriff's Office. Tim previously worked for the Jackson, Georgia and Sodus, New York Police Departments. Visitation will be Friday March 14 from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street, Sodus. His funeral will be on March 15 at 1 p.m. at Sodus United Third Methodist Church. Interment with Military and Police Honors will be at the Huron Evergreen Cemetery.

Fitch, Jim - James Fitch, 63, of Lyons, died March 5, 2008 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. He is survived by his wife Dora; siblings Howard Prince, Wayne Prince, Gene Edward (Judy) Prince, David Prince, Myrtle Prince and Elsie Prince; in-laws Bill (Jerry) Sergeant, John (Dot) Sergeant, Patty Schuldt, Keith Sergeant; mother-in-law Virginia Sergeant. He was predeceased by brother Oman Fitch and sister Lou Edna Fitch (Clack). Visitation and funeral service were held at Norton Funeral Home in Sodus. Spring interment will be at the Sodus Rural Cemetery.

Clark, Lewis - Lewis 'Lewie' G. Clark, 87, of Lyons died March 5, 2008. He was born November 8, 1920, in Tyre, to James and Leah Clark. He attended Waterloo school sand graduated from Phelps High School in 1940. In January 1943, Lewis joined the Air Force. He married Hazel L. Derr from Waterloo in April 1943. He attended many technical schools across the U.S. and in April 1944, he was stationed in England. Based in England, France and Belgium he flew 52 missions and received the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. He returned to Waterloo on July 4, 1945 and worked at the Seneca Falls Machine Company (Goulds Pumps). In 1986, he retired from the Xerox, Corporation. Lewis was a life member of the Waterloo VFW Post 6433 and the Sportsman Club of Waterloo. He was a member of the Waterloo Fire Dept. and the Buckskin & Bowman Club of Waterloo. He is survived by Hazel, his wife of 64 years; son, Richard L.; and daughter, Susan M.; along with six grandchildren, Richard (Sue) of Webster, Michael of Sodus, Teresa (Steve) Gregg of Red Creek, Catherine (Steve) Gajan of Newark,. Elisabeth (Dan) Robenolt of Sodus, Kristena Kujawski of Palmyra; and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as a brother, Rosco Clark; and sisters, Daisy Ross and Charlotte Alexander. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Town of Lyons Ambulance Service. Arrangements are being handled by the Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, Lyons.

Paliotti, Lena - Lena Paliotti, 85, of Lyons, died March 4, 2008. Lena was born Oct. 20, 1922, to Peter and Elizabeth Rago Mastracci. She was widowed by Salvatore Paliotti in 1972. Lena worked at Lyons Central School in the Food Service Department and at the Monroe Abstract as a proofreader for many years. She was a member of St. Michaels Women's Club. Lena enjoyed line dancing with her group, the Senior Steppers. She is survived by daughters, Beverly Gray of Canandaigua, Sandra (Paul) Cassetta of Lyons, Linda (Ron) Courtney of Victor and Laurie (Richard) Sulanowski of Gananda; sisters, Della Paliotti, Virginia DeVito, Rose Errico; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Bramante, Teresa Mastracci and Josephine Brusso, grandchildren, Cathy (Jeff) Caster, Christine (Joe) Acquista, Ron (Tammy) Courtney, Scott (Renee) Courtney, Samantha Sulanowski, Terri Anderson, Don (Barb) Gray; and great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Gabrielle Courtney, Jenna, Kyle and Nicholas Caster, Natalie and Cody Acquista, Brady Courtney, Tyler and Bradley Gray; and several nieces and nephews. Minier, Shirley - Shirley J. Minier, 77, of North Rose died March 4, 2008. Shirley is survived by son and daughter Lawrence (Melva) Minier and Dona (Jim) Visko; grandsons Robert (Michelle) Minier and Donald Garrett. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Robert Minier Sr. on January 1, 2002. Newport, Nina - Nina E. Newport, 71, of Wolcott died March 5, 2008 at Rochester General Hospital. She was born in Pennsylvania on April 25, 1936 to Harry and Sara Huntsinger Aunkst. Rayfield, Bob - Robert H. Rayfield, Jr., 66, of Jamesville, died March 3, 2008 at Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital in Syracuse. Bob was born in Newark, son of Robert and Evelyn Parker Rayfield. His family established Parker-Rayfield Funeral Home, now Paul Murphy Funeral Home on East Miller St. He graduated from Newark High School, Class of 1959, and later from Syracuse University. His passion for graphic design was evident in the continued work he did on projects and newsletters for organizations he belonged to. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy transferring to the Marine Corps Bravo Company. He is survived by his wife, Jeannie (McAleer) Rayfield; sons, Robert E. (Maribeth) of Marcellus, Jeffrey M. of Rochester, Claude 'Pepper' (Suzy Purcell) of Albany; daughters, Tammra (Gil) Russell of Tennessee, Kimberly Cook of Massachusetts; 3 grandsons; a brother, W. Parker of North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Bond, Dick - Richard N. 'Dick' Bond, 89, of Alton died March 5, 2008. He is survived by sons Richard Rick (Holley) Bond of Alton and Randy (Carol) Bond of Webster; grandchildren Amie, Austin, Stacy and Kurt; several nieces and nephews; feline friends Squash, Pumpkin and Tiger. He was predeceased by his wife Winona and by son Robin. He was a World War II Veteran, having served as a 1st Lieutenant with the Army Air Corps, 466th Bomber Group in the European Theater, where he was a Navigator on a B-24 Liberator. He was awarded the Silver Star, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Purple Heart with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon. Following World War II, Dick returned to the Alton area where he was a self employed carpenter, an avid outdoorsman, 63 year member of American Legion Post #881, and was the longest serving member of the Alton Fire Department. Visitation will be Saturday (March 8) from 1-4 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus, with Richards Funeral Service immediately following. Spring interment with military honors will be at the Rose Cemetery. Finch, Billy - Roy 'Billy' Finch, 58, of Clyde died unexpectedly on Thursday (Feb. 28, 2008) at Geneva General Hospital. Billy was born July 6, 1949, in Lyons, the son of the late Raymond 'Bud' and Margaret McFarland Finch. He was a lifetime resident of Clyde and enjoyed spending time at his camp on the river, hunting and fishing with his friends. He loved riding his motorcycle. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Rotach Finch, of Clyde; his daughters, Michelle (Richard) Eighmey, of Seneca Falls, Pam (John) Wilber, of Caledonia, Jill (Tom Fisher) Finch, of Clyde, Jan Finch, of Clyde, Tania (Dana Campbell), of Clyde, Carla (Sean) Rattray, of Clyde; his son, William Finch, of Clyde; 15 grandchildren; his brother, Roger 'David' (Elizabeth) Finch; his sisters, Cheryl Malone, of Naples, Fla., and Suzanne (Chris DeNucci) Finch of Seneca Falls, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Beale, Jim - James Martin 'Jim' Beale, 85, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2008. He was born February 13, 1923 in Rochester, son of Arthur William and Carolyn Martin Beale. After he graduated from the Peddie School in 1942, he attended Colgate University before entering the service during World War II where he served in the Pacific Theater as a Navigator on B-24s. After the war Jim, returned to Colgate University, and married Margaret Stuart on June 28, 1947. He joined the C.H. Stuart Co. and was promoted to executive positions, and eventually served on the C.H. Stuart Board of Directors. Always active in the community, Mr. Beale joined the Newark Rotary Club and was a member for over 50 years. He served on the Vestry of St. Mark's Church in Newark, and was a board member for the Wayne County Historical Society and President of Wayne County United Way. He served on the Board of Trustees at Keuka College, and was Chairman of the C.H. Stuart Foundation. He cherished his family and time spent at the summer home on Sodus Bay. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret Stuart Beale, children Sarah (Hal) Gaffin, James M. Beale Jr., Harriet (John) Bonin, and Elizabeth Beale; grandchildren Jennifer Murray, George Yancey, Tom and Kate Beale, Julia, Caroline and William Bonin, and five great-grandchildren; two sisters Martha (Donald) Clark, Barbara (Jim) Brayer, and a brother Robert (Joanne) Beale. He was predeceased by his brother Arthur William Beale Jr. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 400 South Main Street in Newark, with the Rev. Van Steinburg, Mertie - Mertie Van Steinburg, 90, of Sodus Point died February 17, 2008 at the Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus. Mertie was predeceased in 1963 by her husband Louis E. Van Steinburg. She is survived by sons Robert (Robin) Scoville of Sodus, and Ronald (Edna) Scoville of New Kent, Virginia; sisters Jum (Ken) Cote of Florida and Margaret Critchfield of Fair Haven; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Lindsay, Rose Marie - Rose Marie Lindsay, 58, of North Centenary Road, Sodus, died at her home on March 1, 2008. Mrs. Lindsay was a long-time employee of Dynalec Corp. in Sodus. She is survived by her husband William; four children, Tina Lindsay, Kevin Lindsay, Chad Lindsay and Kim Romig; 10 grandchildren; 2 sisters: Donna Laird and Gloria Rogers; and 1 brother, Harold Rogers. Drake, Jane - Jane H. Drake, 94, of died Feb. 29, 2008 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. today, March 3 at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Jane was born March 16, 1913, in Frostburg, Maryland, the only child of Herman and Louise Cather Hesse. Her father was a mining engineer employed by Consolidated Coal Co. She graduated from Stevens High, Lancaster, PA. She enrolled at West Virginia University, majoring in physical education. In her freshman year she was inducted into the dance club Orchesis. She graduated in 1935. Mrs. Drake went on to teach at Allegheny High from 1935-39. She began her master's degree in 1937 at New York University. She taught at Potomac State College in Keyser, WV, from 1939 to 1943 and also taught at Montclair State College in New Jersey. In June of 1941 she married her husband, Bernard Richard Drake. She was involved with the Girl Scouts of America, League of Women Voters and several YWCA programs. She lived with her daughter for 18 months prior to entering the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Mrs. Drake is survived by her husband, Bernard R. Drake, of Newark; her daughter, Allison D. (Thomas) Paul, of Newark; grandson, Brett D. Beynon, of Newark. Lippert, Jane - Jane Elizabeth Lippert, 84, of Sterling Heights, Michigan died February 27, 2008 at Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center. Jane was born November 14, 1923 in South Butler, to Carl and Harriet (Weaver) Eakins. On May 1, 1945, Jane married Ernest Lippert. Surviving are her husband, Ernest; daughters Nancy (Evan) Scarbnick of Grand Rapids and Susan (Mike) Kirchner of Armada; son Bruce (Anne) Lippert of Ray Township; grandchildren Kevan (Robyn) Scarbnick, Kori (Aaron) DeHaan, Kyle (Sara) Scarbnick, Ali Lippert and Bret Kirchner; four great-grandchildren; sister Marie Lippert of Clyde, New York and numerous nieces and nephews. DeBaere, Mildred - Mildred L. DeBaere, 87, of Phelps, died Feb. 24, 2008 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Mrs. DeBaere was born on May 10, 1920, in Ontario Canada, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Arney Gurnsey. Mrs. DeBaere loved music and was a member of the Fayette Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Thomas) Flood, of Phelps; grandchildren, Christopher Flood, of Fairport, Stacy (Cal) Nield, of Wyoming, Danielle (Jared) Jung, of Idaho, Justin Flood, of Phelps and Joshua Flood, attending State University at Buffalo; great grandchildren, Rachel, Landon and Payson Nield, Kayden and Mathias Jung; nieces and nephews. McCool, Janet - Janet B. McCool, 56, of Savannah, died unexpectedly Feb. 28, 2008. She was a former employee of Sylvania in Seneca Falls and of Garlock's in Palmyra. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, country music, camping and four-wheeling. Edwards, Dick - Charles R. 'Dick' Edwards, 86, of Palmyra, died Feb. 28. Dick was born Nov. 29, 1921, in Geneva, to Charles and Lola Howcroft Edwards. He and Jean Sabin were married on June 7, 1945 in Geneva. Dick was the owner of Edwards Shoe Stores in Palmyra and Wolcott. He was veteran of the Navy, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6778, James R. Hickey American Legion Post 120, Drumlin Square Lodge F&A Masons and a former member of the Palmyra-Macedon Rotary Club. Dick was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Rena (Gary) Haigh; brother, William Edwards; grandchildren, Gary, William and Sally Haigh and Jeff and Kim Edwards; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was predeceased by his son, Donald Edwards; and brothers, Thomas and Robert Edwards. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday (April 5) at the Western Presbyterian Church of Palmyra. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in the spring. DeWitte, Thomas - Thomas J. DeWitte, 52, of Williamson died February 25, 2008. He was predeceased by parents, James W. and Ruth Orbaker DeWitte. He is survived by aunts, Pearl Orbaker Peters (Chester), of Pultneyville and Suzanne Orbaker of Florida; uncle, Roland Orbaker of Williamson, partner, Kenneth Bender of Liverpool, many cousins and special friends. Member of the Pultneyville Reformed Church and the Pultneyville Historical Society. He was an accomplished organist with a degree in Music Education from De Pauw University. He served as church organist in many denominations for 38 years, while living in New York, Indiana, Texas, and the United Kingdom. A service will be held at 1 p.m. on March 29, 2008 at the Pultneyville Reformed Church, 7784 Hamilton St., Pultneyville, NY. Warner, Thelma - Thelma Warner, 90, of Newark, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Mrs. Warner was born in Newark on July 12, 1917 the daughter of Edward and Sadie Vandermill Roemer. She graduated from Newark High School. Thelma had worked as a secretary for the C.H. Stuart Company and the Ely and Leene Insurance Agency until she retired in 1979. For over fifty years she was a member at Park Presbyterian Church in Newark. Spies, Eleanor Jane - Eleanor Jane Spies, 79, of Lyons, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Eleanor was born in Newark August 3, 1928, daughter of Arthur Charles and Alice Rose (O’Brien) Lyman. She was a graduate of Newark High School. She was an executive secretary for 20 years fo C.H. Stuart Co., and worked at the Lyons Shopping Guide for many years. She worked 10 years for Wayne ARC and also for the Newark Developmental Center. Eleanor bowled for over 60 years and was involved in the state and national levels of amateur bowling. She served as president of the Wayne County Women’s Bowling League. Eleanor operated Eleanor’s Gift Boutique for over 20 years. She sold at many local craft fairs, including Newarkfest, Lyons Peppermint Days and Hanna Junction. Eleanor did extensive traveling, and went to South America, Spain, Africa and many other areas. She was devoted to her nieces and nephews. No prior calling hours. Hutchinson, Charles, M. - Charles M. Hutchinson, 63, of Newark, died Thursday, February 28, 2008, after the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic after a short illness. Charlie was born in Sodus on May 23, 1944, a son to George and Dorothy Rice Hutchinson. He retired from Xerox in Webster after 32 years of employment and was a veteran of the Army during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife Gloria (Wilkinson) of 42 years; son, Charles R. (Tina) of Lyons; four grandchildren,, Collin, Shela, Zachary and Cassidy; brother, Edward (Bernice) Hutchinson of Clyde; two sisters, Marie Crane (Jerry Casillo) of Marion and Patricia (John) Parlett of Savannah; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was a waitress in Newark for Wes Lunch, PEE WEE's Diner & Zappia's Restaurant. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul E., daughter, Rosalie 'Gidget' (Paul) Rice of Newark, sister, Shirley (Ray) Stone; 2 brothers, Earl (Joan) Durgan & Lawrence (Bonnie) Durgan, 3 grandchildren, Joey (Wendy) Rice, Teddy (Jill) Rice, Crystal (John) Kelley, 9 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews. Stewart, Benson - Benson Fletcher Stewart, 90, of Newark and Lyons died February 26, 2008. Calling hours are Friday (Feb. 29) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. On August 28, 1943 he married Dorothy Farnsworth and together they raised their five children. He was a 50-year member of the Newark Grange. He was active in the Fairville Volunteer Fire Dept. for 40-plus years and a member of the Top of the Hill Gang. He is survived by his sons Carlton of Florida and Lawrence (Karen) Stewart of Lyons; daughters Marilyn (Christopher) Miraglia of Clifton Springs, Beverly (David) Keukelaar of Macedon and Elaine (Lyle) Bean of Delaware; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister Lucille Tilburg of Newark; nieces and nephews. Mr. Stewart was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Stewart on Sept. 14, 2007; brother and sister-in-law Harold and Marge Stewart; brother-in-law Harold Tilburg.

Blaisdell, Isabelle - Isabelle Blaisdell, of Newark, 71, died February 27, 2008 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Welcher, Marian - Marian Welcher, 84, died February 26, 2008. Marian was born May 3,1923 in Newark, the daughter of Frank and Jennie VandenHeuvel Rykbost. She graduated from Newark High School with the class of 1940. Mrs. Welcher worked as a secretary, retiring from Paul Andrew Distributing in Lyons, NY. She lived with her husband on the Lee Farm on Minsteed Road. Marian sang in the Rose City Ensemble. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Canandaigua. Marian enjoyed being an active participant in the foster grandparent program. She is survived by her son Thomas (Donna) of Sodus, grandson Adam and granddaughter Andrea (Alan) Place; son, Jeffrey (Theresa) of Oneida, granddaughters Meghan and Aaron; daughter-in-law Sue of Newark, grandson Evan; and her good friend Gerald Burnham. Federico, Dennis - Dennis J. Federico, 53, of Newark died February 26, 2008 at the Newark Hospital. Derr, Dorothy - Dorothy Crump Lent Derr, 81, of Newark and Clifton Springs, died February 26, 2008 at the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca. Dorothy was born September 21, 1926, in Perinton, the daughter of Elliot S. and Florence M. Sackett Crump. She graduated valedictorian of the Pittsford High School, Class of 1944. Dorothy worked for many years at Wayne Plaza Drugs in Newark. She was a member of the East Palmyra Presbyterian Church. Dorothy enjoyed knitting, reading, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Derr is survived by daughter Carol (Paul) Moore, of Clayton, granddaughter, Meredith; son Scott Lent, of Fairport, granddaughter, Ashley; daughter Amy (Craig) Stell, of Clifton Springs, granddaughter, Kristin (Joshua) Springer; daughter Joan (Fred) Noteboom, of Ithaca, granddaughters, Julie (Joe) Presicci and Lisa Hamilton; sister, Joyce Dehmler, of Brighton and three great-grandchildren. Brand, Natalie - Natalie Gibby Brand, 94, of Clifton Springs died February 22, 2008. A memorial service will be held in March. Natalie was born Feb. 19, 1914, in Wilkes-Barre, PA and was a graduate of Vassar College and the University of Pennsylvania. She was a bacteriologist at Grasslands, Mt. Cisco and Clifton Springs hospitals. She was an amateur ornithologist, conservationist and golfer. She was a longtime member of the Clifton Springs Hospital Women's Auxiliary, Tourist Club and Library. She is survived by her son, Robert G. Brand; daughter-in-law, Linda Ade Brand; and granddaughter, Julia. She was predeceased in 1989 by her husband, Dr. R. Willard Brand. DeBrine, Lloyd - Lloyd V. DeBrine, 94, of Williamson and Newark, died February 24, 2008. He had retired from Garlock Inc. in Palmyra. He was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church of Newark. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie (Duane) DeHollander of West Webster; son, Curtis C. (Joann) DeBrine of Williamson; grandchildren, Deanna (Tod) Mascle of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; Jeremy (Christine) DeBrine of Lake Oswego, Oregon; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two wives, Ruth (Cook) DeBrine and Frances (Weipert) DeBrine. A service is planned for February 29 (Friday) at 2 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home, 4025 West Main St., Williamson. De Wispelaere, Nellie - Nellie De Wispelaere, 94, formerly of Marion, died February 22, 2008 under the care of Citrus Memorial Hospital Hospice in Florida. A memorial service will be held at the Second Reformed Church of Marion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Nellie's memory to the Second Reformed Church Memorial Fund. She was born April 24, 1913 to Peter and Neeltje Porrey. Nellie is survived by her son Earl (Shirley) De Wispelaere, of Chapel Hill, NC; son Isaac (Nan) De Wispelaere of Marion, and daughter Joyce (Tom) Richard of Inverness, Florida; 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Forkey, Dorothy - Dorothy Forkey, 73, of Marion died Feb. 21, 2008 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Dorothy was born on May 17, 1934, in Malone, the daughter of Howard and Jennie Ladine Smith. She is survived by her husband, Samuel Michael Forkey; three daughters, Jacqueline Herr, of North Carolina, Joy ( Chuck) Baker, of Kansas, and Jennie Boyle, of Florida. Two sons, Daniel (Carol) White, of North Bangor, Franklin County, and Steven White, of Palmyra; and a sister, Madeline Mein of Lyons. She was predeceased by tow daughters, Julie Lent and Jerrily Alubry. Friends called at the Stevens Funeral Home, 3896 Buffalo St., Marion. Funeral service was officiated by the Rev. Dan Meyer, and Dorothy will be buried in Marion Cemetery.

Potter, Janet - Janet M. Potter, 69, of Clifton Springs, died Feb. 22, 2008, at the Clifton Springs Hospital Extended Care. There are no calling hours. Stickles, Alvin - Alvin M. Stickles, 72, of Clifton Springs and Clyde, died February 20, 2008. A private memorial service will be held for the family. Alvin was born Jan. 12, 1936, the son of the late Edward and Ada Paul Stickles. He retired after 35 years form Elder Lee Company in Oaks Corners. Alvin was a member of Local Teamsters Union No. 118. Alvin is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mildred Snyder Stickles, of Clifton Springs; his devoted son, Adam (Jessica) Stickles, of Phelps; twin brother, Melvin E. Talma, Martha - Martha Talma, 93, of East Palmyra and Lyons, died Feb. 25, 2008. She lived at Wayne County Nursing Home for seven years. Family and friends may call Thursday (Feb. 28) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the East Palmyra Christian Reformed Church. A funeral service will be Friday (Feb 29) at the church at 11 a.m. Spring burial in East Palmyra Cemetery. Martha was born December 13, 1914 in the Netherlands, daughter of the late Ulbe and Lizbet Boonstra. She came to the United States in 1956. Knitting and sewing were her specialties. She was a member of the East Palmyra Reformed Church and the EPCS Ladies Circle. Often she would volunteer for the East Palmyra Christian School and made stuffed animals and quilts for their sales. She is survived by her daughter-in- law, Nancy Talma; sons Albert (Trixie) of Bradford, Henry (Pat) of Phelps, Lee (Marlene) of Iowa and Sydney (Grace) Richfield Springs; 12 grandchildren Russell (Julie), Brian (Amanda) Tammie, Timmie (Melissa), Diane, Michael (Erika), David, Kristen (Jason), Chris, Craig, Lindsey & Ryan; 9 great grandchildren Aaron, Brendan, Michaelle, Rook, Mina, Veronica Leanna, Lauren & Rachel; brother-in-law Jan Talma of Holland; sister-in-law Romme Talma of Holland; many nieces and nephews. Stark, Dee - Delia Elaine 'Dee' Stark, 43, of Clifton Springs died unexpectedly on February 18, 2008. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sunday (March 9) at Woodlane Community Church in Newark. Delia was an accomplished pianist and had played at several area churches. She was a member of Finger Lakes chorale. Delia was a self-taught seamstress and taught quilting in Rochester, Nebraska, California, England, and France. Her specialty was 'crazy quilting.' She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Janet and Dick Norsen of Newark; her father, Richard VanHousen of Clifton Springs Nursing Home; stepmother, Gladys VanHousen of Phelps; brother Daniel (Donna) VanHousen of Webster; nephew and niece, David and Deena VanHousen; husband, David Stark of Albany; stepdaughter, Kristen (Scott) Bater of Holley; aunts, uncles, cousins, and co-workers at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic. Bulman, Stanley - Stanley Roy Bulman, 88, of Palmyra died Feb. 23, 2008 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Calling hours are Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Norman L. He will be buried in the spring in the East Palmyra Cemetery. Stanley was born Sept. 30, 1919 in Fairport, to William and Ida Rose Bulman. He was a life-long farmer on the family farm on Route 21 in Palmyra. In his later years, he was the farm manager at Lollypop Farm, retiring in 1984 after 23 years of service. He had a special love for Draft Horses and hence was a member of the Tri-County Draft Horse Club. He is survived by his loving wife, June Gutacker Bulman; 15 children, Stanley (Becke), Carol (Eldrid) Rust, Gary (Diane), Roger, Thomas (Tawny), Eugene (Linda), Terry (Jean), Duane (Barbara), Danny (Phyllis), William (Rena), Kenny, Ricky (Anne), Jan Bulman, Randy and Michael (Karen) Bulman; more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers Jessie, Howard, William, Harold, Frank and Arthur; sisters Annie Fellows, Stella Schutt, Hazel Shultz and Alice Steffenhagen; many nieces and nephews. Dobbelaere, Rosalie P. - Rosalie P. Dobbelaere, 91,of Newark, died Saturday, February 23,2008, at the Geneva Living Center South. Mrs. Dobbelaere was born on June 27, 1916, in Newark, the daughter of John and Amelia DePauw Parys. For many years, she was a secretary at C.H. Stuart, Inc. in Newark. She retired from the Gleason Works in Rochester in 1982, where she had been a private secretary. In her retirement, Rosalie was a part time receptionist at the Wayne County Nursing Home over fifteen years. She had been a member of St. Michael’s Church for many years and was active until recently. She was a member of the Newark-Arcadia Historical Society. Mrs. Sperry was born on October 6, 1938 in Lyons, the daughter of Oak and Pearl Avery Burry. She had been an attendant at the Newark Developmental Center for 29 years. Heverin, Mary M. - Mary M. Heverin, 103, of Newark/Phelps, died on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Heverin was born on March 27 1904, in Lima, New York, the daughter of Dr. John and Mary "Minnie" Finigan Morrisey. A graduate of Newark High School and Albany State Teachers College, she taught English and was a librarian in Woodridge, New York. For many years, Mary was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church. Mary was a member of the Rosary and Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. She had been active with the Friends of the Library at the Newark Public Library and had a passion for books. Maglier, Annette - Annette Maglier, 68, of Newark, formerly of Medina and Rochester, died Friday, February 15, 2008, at Rochester General Hospital. Mrs. Maglier was born June 15, 1939 in Medina the daughter of Edward and Gertrude Czerwinski Andrews. She worked for many years for Kleen-Brite in Rochester. Rose, Artie - Arthur 'Artie' Marcel Rose, 81, of Newark died Feb. 13, 2008 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Family and friends may call Monday (Feb. 18) from 5 to 7 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. A Funeral Service will follow calling at 7 p.m. Private burial in East Newark Cemetery. In memory of Artie, please consider donations to a charity of your choice. Artie was born on July 22, 1926 in Fall River, MA. He had worked for Halco Plumbing and Heating in Phelps. In his later years Artie lived at the Armstrong Senior Living Center where he made friends with all the residents. For many years Artie was the contact person with 911 and the residents of Armstrong. He would deliver valuable information to 911 to be forward on to the emergency responders. Artie was a very active member of the Newark VFW Post 2883. Many people would know Artie in the parades with his motor scooter decked out with American Flags. The funeral home proudly flies the Air Force Flag in honor of Artie's service to our country. Artie is survived by his wife Nancy Dennis Rose; children Jason, Kathleen and Kayla; a special friend Jamie DeMyer and many friends in the Newark area. 

Briggs, Zack - Zachary M. Briggs, 18, of Sunderville Road, Lyons, died February 12, 2008 in Pittsburgh, PA, at the Pittsburgh Presbyterian Hospital, while waiting for a lung transplant. Zachary was born Feb. 23, 1989, in Sodus, a son to Christine Jensen and Dennis Briggs. He was a 2007 graduate of Lyons High School and was attending an adult electricity course. He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Betsy Briggs; mother, Christine Jensen of Phelps; sisters, Jennifer, Olivia and Kendra; brother, Daniel; many grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Paliotti, Margie - Margaret E. 'Margie' Paliotti, 89, of Lyons, died February 12, 2008 at the DeMay Living Center. Margie was born July 20, 1918 in Clyde, daughter of Anthony and Nellie Capone Janto. She had worked for Acme Electric in Clyde and helped operate Paliotti Shoe Store in Lyons, along with her husband. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary; St. Michael's Church and Home Demonstration. She is survived by her husband Anthony P. Paliotti; one son Robert James of Cambodia; nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Ann. Bardmaker, Genevieve - Genevieve P. Bardmaker, 92, of Lyons died February 13, 2008 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Genevieve was born September 27, 1915 in Lyons, daughter of Louis and Emily Sharp Ottnod. She had worked for Newark School District. She was a 50-year member of First Lutheran Church of Lyons and its quilters group of the church. She was a member of the OES Humanity Chapter of Lyons. She was predeceased in 1998 by her husband, Earl. She is survived by two sons, Roger (Barb) Bardmaker of Lyons and Marvin (Nancy) Ottnod of Newark; grandchildren, Sharon (David) Varalli, of Marion, Terry (Paul) Shaulis of Virginia, Steven Bardmaker of Lyons, Kelly (Fred) Perry of Syracuse, Kristin Ottnod of Newark; five great-grandchildren. Van Waes, Alex - Alex Kevin Van Waes, 25, of Wolcott died peacefully on February 12, 2008, following a lengthy battle with cancer, and the side effects from chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Alex is survived by his loving parents, Kevin and Amy (Chizuk) Van Waes; brother Peter Van Waes; grandfather Donald Corky Van Waes; step grandmother Ellie Van Waes; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, co-workers from Marshall Farms. Baker, Jacob - Jacob C. Baker, 87, of Newark died February 9, 2008 at DeMay Living Center. Jake was born Dec. 25, 1920 in Lyons, son of Jacob and Emma Brown Baker. He served in the Marine Corps in WWII and was a member of The American Legion and the VFW. He was a contractor in his earlier years and he retired from North-Rose Wolcott School District as a bus driver. He is survived by his son, Ricky (Debra) Baker of Newark and daughter, Cyndi (Ronald) Gillette of Kissimmee, FL; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Fanning, Doris - Doris L. Fanning, 93, formerly of Lyons, died February 11, 2008 at DeMay Living Center in Newark. Burial in Palmyra Cemetery. Doris was born October 6, 1914 in Huron, daughter of J. Odell Miner and Elizabeth Herbert. She retired from Xerox Co. in Webster, where she was a secretary. She was a 50 year member of the Lyons Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughter, Caryl Deporter of Alpharetta, GA; granddaughter Leslie James of Alpharetta, GA; half-sisters Ruth Young & Dorothea Ball of North Rose; several nieces, and nephews. Shulla, Michael - Michael Joseph Shulla, 81 died February 10, 2008 at Newark HospitalHe was born the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Kovalchek Shulla on October 2, 1926 in Jessup, PA. He was retired from the Finger Lakes Packaging in Lyons. He was a member and married at St. Michael Church in Newark, and the American Legion in Newark. VanDerBrook, Chuck - Charles H. 'Chuck' VanDerBrook, 68, of Sodus Point, died Feb. 4, 2008. He was born Feb. 16, 1939. He was retired from Duffy Mott of Williamson, had been a volunteer firefighter with the Wallington Fire Department for 40 years. He is survived by his son Stephen A. Comella, Philip - Philip Joseph Comella, 80, died February 4, 2008 at the Wayne County Nursing Home after a courageous and lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Phil was born in Buffalo on June 5, 1927, a son to Joseph and Mary Gaglione Comella. He was a WWII Navy veteran, retired from Xerox in Webster, and was a Town of Lyons Justice for 17 years. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Mary (Craig) Farnsworth and Jody (Scott) Ellis; two granddaughters, Danielle (Frank) Teeple and Courtney (Chris) Post; great-granddaughter, Lillian Marie Post; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Chetney, Crystal - Crystal Caves Chetney, 85, formerly of Newark, died February 2, 2008. She was a donor to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Rochester Medical School. She is survived by two sons Gary (Janis) of Livonia and Mark (Patricia) of Newark, four grandchildren Aaron (Michelle) Weaver, John, Katie Weaver and Jessica Wojtalewski, three great grandchildren Marissa Weaver and Evan and Logan Wojtalewski.  Martha was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Harry in 2005, two brothers Russell and Donald Douglas.

VanHout, Bill - William L. Van Hout, Jr., 56, of Newark, died Jan. 31, 2008. Bill was born July 1,1951 in Rochester, son of William L. and Iris E. (Randall) VanHout. He had worked for Burnwell Gas and drove truck for Newark Florist. Bill was an Auxiliary Lieutenant with the Newark Police Dept. and was a former member of Arcadia Hose Co. of the Newark Fire Dept. Kneut, Estella - Estella M. Kneut, 90, of Newark and Clifton Springs, died on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at the Living Center North in Geneva. She was born on November 28,1917 in Mexico, NY, the daughter of Claude and Eva King Fravor. A hairdresser, Estella had operated her own shop in Newark for over 25 years and worked with her husband in the Kneut Appliance Store in Newark. She had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark. She is survived by her daughter Lorraine (Tom) Bissell of Manchester and son Edwin (Debbie) of Sebastian, FL; four grandchildren Christopher Kneut, Courtney Carr, Aaron and Garrett Bissell; four great grandchildren; a sister Dorothy VanDenBeckens of Lyons; a sister-in-law Doris Secor; brother-in-laws Kenneth, Francis and Bernard Kneut; several nieces and nephews. Scheetz, Ted - William Edward 'Ted' Scheetz, 56, of Newark died January 31, 2008, at the DeMay Living Center. Ted was born July 6, 1951 in Geneva, son of William C. and Carol Ratchford Scheetz. He attended the Newark Schools and then worked at Gleason Works in Rochester as a machinist. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a long time resident of the VA Hospital in Canandaigua, after a very serious accident left him disabled in 1980. He is survived by his parents, William C. and Carol Scheetz of Newark; sister Susan (Robert) Hilfiker of Florida; several nieces and nephews; uncles John (Leona) of East Rochester, James and Carl Scheetz both of Florida; many cousins. Buck, Norman - Norman E. Buck, 98, of Phelps, died Jan. 30, 2008 at Newark Manor. There will be no calling hours or funeral service. He served his country in the Army during World War II. He was employed for many years at the Department of Veterans Affairs Care Center in Canandaigua. He is survived by his children, Kenneth (Cody) Buck of Palmyra and Larry (Darol) Buck of Victor; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one nephew. Campbell, Gerry - Gerald M. Campbell, 86, of Palmyra died January 28, 2008. Gerry was born October 4, 1921 in Port Gibson, son of Victor and Louise Bastian Campbell. He and Margaret Murphy were married October 16, 1944 in Palmyra. Gerry was a member of the Newark Masonic Lodge, the Newark BPOE and the Carpenters Local #85 for over 50 years. He was a founding member of the Wayne ARC, the first president and charter member of the Port Gibson Fire Department; he was instrumental in preserving the steel deck bridge over the Erie Canal Wide Waters. He is survived by his sons James Campbell, Robert (Marilyn) Campbell and Victor (Laurie) Campbell; grandchildren Barbara, Jerry, Jason and Andy and 12 great-grandchildren. Gerry was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Campbell; his son Richie; brothers Kenneth and Howard; sister-in-law Alice Breemes Flass. Hammond, Donald L. - Donald Leon Hammond, 72, of Clifton Springs.  died Friday, January 25, 2008 at the Clifton Springs Hospital, surrounded by his family and close friends. Mr. Hammond was born the son of the late Edward and Edith Marion Skeela Hammond on July 18, 1935 in Palmyra. He was a 1953 graduate of Newark High School. He recently completed his Lay Ministers License in the United Methodist Church. Mr. Hammond retired from Tyco Corp. in Macedon where he worked in the warehouse. Through out his adult life he loved to work on his dairy farm which he named DAVONNADALE (his children’s initials) Dairy. He was a member of the Port Gibson Church and the Masons. Hall, Richard C. - Richard C. Hall, 84, formerly of Sodus St., Clyde, died Friday, January 25, 2008 at DeMay Living Center. Dick was born in Savannah on Oct. 24, 1923, son of Harold and Ruth Harvie Hall. He worked for over 30 years for the N.Y.S. Division of Canals drydocks in Lyons. He served in the Army in WWII from 1945-1946. He was a member of the VFW Post 947 of Clyde, St. John’s Church, Clyde, and the Knights of Columbus, Newark Council. Dick loved the outdoors and enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing and gardening. No prior calling hours. DeRenzo, Jim - James J. DeRenzo, 87, of Linden Ave, Newark, formerly of Clyde, died January 18, 2008 at Rochester General Hospital following a long illness. Calling hours are today (Jan. 21) from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W. Genesee St., Clyde. A Mass will be celebrated Tuesday (Jan. 22) at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church with the Rev. Joseph Marcoux officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Clyde. Jim was born October 11, 1920 in Clyde, son of Frank and Mabel Ambroisiano DeRenzo. He resided in Clyde for 60 years, moving to Newark in 1980. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1939. He was a varsity player in baseball, basketball and football, and was team captain numerous times. He was class president three times. October 4, 1941 Jim married Ida Marie (Edith) D'Amato in Clyde. He served his country in the Marine Corps from August 1943 to July 1946 and achieved the rank of sergeant. Upon returning home, he opened Jimmy's Little Barrel Restaurant on Columbia Street in Clyde. He had worked at the Newark Developmental Center, retiring 1984. He was a member of the Galen Democratic Committee for 30 years; he served six years as a trustee on the Clyde Village Board; he was Past Commander of the Bud Hinman VFW Post # 947; he was past president of the Clyde Lions Club. He was the first president of the Clyde-Savannah Booster Club to promote sports in the Clyde & Savannah School District. Jimmy's first priority in 1971 was to provide jackets for the undefeated Golden Eagles football team. In 2004, he was inducted into the Clyde 'Sports Hall of Fame.' He was a member of the Clyde Chamber of Commerce, a charter member of Wayne Hills Country Club, past member of the Protective Hook and Ladder Company of the Clyde Fire Department, life member of American Legion Post #286 in Newark, and a member of St. Michael's Church in Newark. He is survived by his wife, Ida (Edith) DeRenzo; s son James (Susan) DeRenzo of Holmes Beach, FL; one granddaughter and grandchildren; three sisters - Catherine (Donald) Walters of Lock Berlin, Anne Zulauf of Lyons, and Mary Jane Lindner of Clyde. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased in March 2007 by his brother Frank DeRenzo. Griffin, Anna - Anna B. Griffin, 72, of Clyde and Wolcott, died January 17, 2008 at the Geneva Living Center South. Smith, Robert S. - Robert 'Bob' S. Smith, formerly of Newark, New York, Newark, Delaware, and West Grove, PA, died Jan. 9, 2008. He was born on Aug. 15, 1927, the only child of Ralph and Helen Smith of Newark, New York. The family lived at 115 Grant Street. Bob graduated a year early from Newark High School, and enrolled at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating with a degree in business and engineering administration. He spent a year in the U.S. Army after his first year at MIT. He joined the DuPont Company Textile Fibers Department in 1950. He married Kathryn Hawthorne; they were married for 56 years, until her death in August 2007. They spent 53 years living in Newark, Delaware, where they raised their daughters, Kate and Lex. He is survived by his daughters, Kate Watson and her husband, Lew, and Lex Mellon and her husband, Tom, and their children Leigh and Michael. A memorial service was held on at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Oxford, PA.

He was a meat cutter for 35 years and was retired from Bob's Big M Market in Wolcott. He had worked at Marshall Farms in North Rose. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Freer) Bauer; daughter Cheryl (Franklin) LaValley of Wolcott; sons Terry (Julie) Bauer of Wolcott and Christopher (Leigh) Bauer of Wolcott; seven grandchildren; one brother, Carlton (Kathy) Bauer of Wolcott; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Morask, Mabel - Mabel E. Morask, 99, of Newark, died January 16, 2008, at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mabel was born October 8, 1908 in Arcadia, the daughter of Ernest and Cynthia VanHolder Kaller. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newark. Mabel worked at the Newark Developmental Center at one time and was a member of the Newark Elks Auxiliary. Mabel was predeceased by her husband Eber in 1975. Prutzman, Madeline - Madeline Prutzman, 89, of Newark, died January 14, 2008, at the DeMay Living Center. She was born August 17, 1918 in Marion, daughter of August and Nathalie Van Dorp Van De Walle. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Madeline operated Prutzman's Mattress Shop in Newark, first with her husband for 26 years and then with her son Gary for 36 years. She is survived by two sons Gary (Diana) of Lyons and Larry (Cheryl) of Palmyra; three grandsons Paul, Daniel and Jonathan; five great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews. Madeline was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1972 and five siblings Mary Deisering, Henry, Clement, Alice and Raymond Van De Walle. Calling hours are Jan. 16 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Paul L. Goodall, Thelma - Thelma Ruth Goodall, 89, of Port Gibson, died January 14, 2008 at Clifton Springs Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born the daughter of the late Winfield and Edna Wicks Wallace on May 19, 1918 in the town of Palmyra. For many years she was a home health care provider helping many people in the area. She was the hostess for Wegmans when they first opened in Newark. Mrs. Goodall was known for her willingness to help others. She was a charter member of the Port Gibson Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She volunteered many hours with the Port Gibson Loan Closet and was the Historian for Port Gibson. As a member of the Port Gibson Retirees, she and her husband coordinated many bus trips for senior citizens. Most importantly she was a member of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church and loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Goodall will be remembered by her husband of 68 years, Lance Goodall; son Tim and his life partner Lora of Gorham; daughters Bonnie (Thurlow) Hammond of Newark and Lynette (Wayne) Coursen of Ohio; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Wallace, Edward Wallace, and Leonard Wallace; sisters Dorothy Robinson, Violet Willet, Mary Burgess and Imogene DeCann. Iva had been a member of the Silver Links Rebecca Lodge. She is survived by three daughters: Sally Schoonerman of Mooresville, NC, Deanna (Robert) Brockhuizen of Newark, Helen (Clyde) Krebbeks of Newark; two sons: David (Sandra) Garrett of Dundee, Bruce (Donna) Garrett of Palmyra; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a sister Ethel Beckley of Frederick, MD; and a brother Harold Dailey of Lyons; and several nieces. Iva was predeceased by her husbands Maynard Garrett in 1964 and Cornelius Moens in 1982; also predeceased by her brother William Dailey.

Leggett, Elaine - Elaine J. Leggett, 68, of Marion died January 12, 2008. She is predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Sarah, and brother Dean. She is survived by her husband, Henry; sons Duren (Janet) Flynn, James (Tamara) Flynn, Lee Leggett, Scott (Teresa) Leggett; brothers, Kenneth (Ann) Davison, Robert (Barbara) Davison; sister, Carol (Ronald) Baker; 9 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; good friend Phyllis; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Chase, Bob - Robert L. Chase, Sr., 76, of Sodus, died January 10, 2008. Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served his country from 1948 to 1950. He was a 50-year member of Sodus Lodge #392 F&AM. He was a 50-year member of the Sodus Point Volunteer Fire Department. He served as a Road Patrol Deputy with the Sheriff's Office, was a Sodus Town Justice for over 18 years; he and his wife, Doris, owned the Sodus Point Bait Shop and Livery. Survivors include Doris, his wife of 59 years; children Robert L. (Shann) Chase, Jr. of Newark, Vicki L. (Marshall) Neisler of El Paso, IL and Sydney L. (Julie) Chase of Wolcott; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters Joyce Miles and Beverly Rice. He was predeceased by his parents, Leon and Alice Chase, and by grandsons Andrew and Michael. Trickey - Yose "Cookie" - Cookie Trickey, 67, of Newark, died on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Clifton Springs Hospital. Mrs. Trickey was born on March 2, 1940 in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Ernest and Frances Cimino Persi. Cookie was a 1958 graduate of Jefferson High School in Rochester. Prior to raising her family, she worked at the Rochester Savings Bank. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church. Cookie was a crafter operating Saratoga Scents at area shows and festivals. Dale was born May 5, 1946 in Newark, the daughter of Francis E. Tyler and Billie Lord Tyler Guzman. Strassburger, Ro - Roland P. 'Ro' Strassburger, 68, of Newark, died January 8, 2008. He was born on November 27, 1939 in Evanston, Illinois, the son of Fritz and Ruth Dieball Strassburger. He was a long-haul truck driver, retiring from Mark Stevens Trucking in Victor six years ago. Ro was co-founder with his late wife of Ro-N-Jan's Beer Batter Potatoes, operating at local craft shows and festivals for more than 25 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a mechanic with the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Eight. Ro was a member of the August Mauer Post, American Legion and the Sky Rovers model airplane flying club. He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Steve Hurrin) Lucieer of Newark; sons Keith (Kathy) Yohe of Henrietta and Kelly (Joy) Strassburger of Penfield; long time family friend Viktor (Briggette) Mattes of Germany; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister Charlotte Wennuland of Illinois. Roland was predeceased by his wife Janice in 2002 and by a son, Kirk Yohe. Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11 at the Paul L. Colasurdo, Zinda - Zinda Colasurdo, 96, of Marbletown Road, died January 6, 2008 in Flushing, New York. Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on January 12. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery. Zinda was born January 1, 1912 in Orange, California, the daughter of Antonio and Angeline Colasurdo. She grew up in Newark and graduated from St. Lawrence University School of Nursing. A First Lieutenant, Zinda served with the US Army during World War II as a nurse in North Africa and Italy. She had a career of nursing as both a nurse and a teacher. Zinda retired from Rockland State Hospital in Orangeburg where she was a nurse for many years. She returned to Newark in her retirement years and was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. She is survived by two sisters Rose Escowitz and Nellie Schneider both of Flushing, several nieces and nephews. Zinda was predeceased by four brothers.

Darling, Butch - Emmett O. 'Butch' Darling, 71, of Clifton Springs, died unexpectedly on January 7, 2008. Butch was born February 9, 1936, in Hopewell, son of Henry and Jennie Wilkinson Darling. The funeral home will display the U.S. Army flag in honor of Butch's service to the country. He was a member and past president of Griffin Alley Clowns of America, co-founder and past president of the Hopewell Clowns, member and past chief of the Hopewell Fire Department and a former member of the Hopewell Town Board. Butch was an accomplished musician and member of the Fort Hill String Band and Fiddlers of the Genesee and a supporter of the Canandaigua Arts Council Bluegrass program. He was well known for his love of stock car racing and support of the D.I.R.T. Racing Circuit. Butch was an avid flower gardener and co-hosted the annual Darling Bluegrass Festival with his brothers, Donald and Norman. Butch is survived by his daughter, Ramona (Charles) Joachim, of Boca Raton, FL; sons, Edward (Sharon) Darling, of Liverpool and Leonard (Lorraine) Darling, of Port Orange, FL; sister, Della Rosekrans; brothers, Norman and Donald Darling; grandchildren, Constance, John Paul, Wendy and Ryan Darling and Paulina and Charles Joachim; his first wife, Doris Nichols, of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and his second wife, Karen Darling, of Seneca Falls. Calling hours are Friday, Jan. 11, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, 123 W. Main St., Palmyra. Bowman, Marion - Marion Adell Bowman, 80, of Newark died January 6, 2008 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Marion was born July 13, 1927 in Perry, daughter of the late Harry and Ada Toal Morton. She was a 1945 graduate of Sodus High School. She retired from the Newark Developmental Center, where she worked as a Staff Attendant. She was a member of AARP. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Mrs. Bowman will be remembered by her beloved husband of 53 years, James Bowman; sisters Grace (William) Blauvelt of Sodus and Laura Morton of Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Bruce & Calvin Morton, and sister Dorothy Plummer. A funeral service will be Wednesday (Jan. 9) at 2 p.m. at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark with Rev. Jack Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in East Newark Cemetery. Blankenberg, Roger - Roger W. Blankenberg, 72, of Sodus died unexpectedly on January 3, 2008. Roger was born February 9, 1935 in Sodus; he was a veteran of the Army, a longtime resident of Clyde and had worked for many years at Fold-Pak in Newark. Roger is survived by his wife, Mildred; children, Jean (Tom) Royce, Sandra Taylor, Rowena (Donald) West, Bonnie Osborn, Georgia (George) Edwards, Max (Krystal) Grosz, Mary (Sam) Robinson and Hilda Mauck; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill (Frances) Blankenberg and Stan (Mary Jane) Blankenberg; sisters, Elaine Sawyer, Madeline Blankenberg and Marilyn (Marco) Cruz. Roger was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary, and by several aunts and uncles. Calling hours are today, Jan. 8 from 3 to 7:30 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 W. Main St. in Sodus. Wood, Connie - Cornelia (Connie) VanMeenen Wood, 86, of Williamson died January 5, 2008. Hill, Hugh - Hubert G. (Hugh) Hill, 76, of Pittsford died January 4, 2008, after a short illness. Funeral service is being held today at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2000 Highland Ave. Interment will be in White Haven Memorial Park. Hugh was a graduate of Brighton High School and Cornell University. He worked for Curtice Burns for 25 years, retiring in 1987 as Vice President of Operations. For five years, he worked as a lobbyist representing the Associated New York State Food Processors. He treasured the time spent with family and friends while enjoying summers at the family cottage in Sodus and winters in Venice, Florida. He is predeceased by his parents, Howard and Florence, and his brother, Howard Jr. He is survived by his wife, Janet, and children, Linda (David) Ayers, David, and Judy Hill (Robert) Smillie; cherished grandchildren, Danielle and Brian Ayers, Patrick and Lauren Hill, Margaret and Eleanor Smillie; brother Jim (Jean) Davis; nieces, nephews, cousins, many wonderful friends, and his guide dog, Queisha. Allyn, Florence - Florence Allyn, 92, died in Holiday, Florida. She had lived in the Palmyra and Macedon areas. Renzi, Janette - Janette C. Renzi, 89, formerly of Lyons, died January 6, 2008 at DeMay Living Center. Janette was born April 27, 1918, in Lyons, daughter of Lawrence and Catherine Rago Perry. She had worked at Hickox Co. in her earlier years and for Parker-Hannifin Co. in Lyons for 13 years. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Lyons Golden Agers and Retired Senior Citizens of Lyons. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Renzi of Newark; two grandchildren, Robert Rabideau of Los Angeles, and Michael (Julie) Rabideau of Rochester; a brother, Dominic Perry of Rochester; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1975 by her husband, Louis. Calling hours are Jan. 9 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Boeheim Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William St., Lyons, where services will be held at 10:30. Jackson, Lucia - Lucia Mae Jackson, 67, of Newark died suddenly January 3, 2008 in the ER of Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Family and friends may call Monday (Jan. 7) from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. A Service will follow at 11 a.m., with Deacon Ed Sergeant officiating. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery. Lucia was born February 16, 1940 in Salamanca, the daughter of the late Theodore and Edith Timerson Jackson. She was a Native American Indian and was very proud of her heritage. Lucia collected many artifacts of her native history. She is remembered by many friends and staff of the Finger Lakes DDSO.

LaVere, Emogene - Emogene V. LaVere, 82, of Savannah died January 1, 2008. She was born October 23, 1925 in Savannah, to Grover and Linna Lincoln Van Norstrand. Emogene was employed for 32 years as a school nurse,for the Savannah School District, and then Clyde-Savannah, retiring in 1996. She is survived by her children: Cynthia (Joseph) Carnevale of Newark, Kris (Richard) Vanderlinde of Lyons, Jerry (Patty) LaVere of Savannah; grandchildren Jeffery, Greigory, Lesley, Jeremy, Anitra, Trish and Deidra; great grandchildren Julian, Lauren, Mya and Jakob. Emogene was predeceased by her husband Robert LaVere in 1966, and by friend Clifford Bozeat in 2004. Colacino, John - John T. Colacino, 58, of Palmyra died January 2, 2008 from Cystic Fibrosis. John graduated from Pal-Mac High School and Tri-State University in Indiana. He was employed at Nazareth College for 33 years, recently as Associate Treasurer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting & played fast pitch softball in college and slow pitch locally. He hosted back-yard volleyball for many years. John enjoyed watching his daughter compete in horseback competitions. He was predeceased by parents Michael and Theresa Colacino, and infant sisters Barbara Jean and Anne Marie. John is survived by his wife Janet, daughter Michelle, brother Dr. James (Sandy) Colacino of Clemson, SC; sister Mary Ann (James) Cocola of Geneva; step-mother, Wanda Colacino of Sebastian, FL; stepsister Sandy Nighbor of DePere, WI; nieces Hilary (Jason Burgess) and Melissa (Jesse) Beckwith; nephews, Jim (Bridget) Cocola and Anthony (Heather) Cocola; father-in-law, John Seymour of Penn Yan; mother-in-law Joanne (Sam) Cinicola of Penfield; brothers-in-law, Joe (Kim) Seymour, Jack Seymour; sisters-in-law, Judy (Walter) Savaria, Joline (Warren) Doersam, Jane (Paul) Smith, Dana (Greg) Mencer; cousins, nieces and nephews.
