Thomas Jefferson program in Lyons On April 12, the Lyons Heritage Society will celebrate the birthday anniversary of Thomas Jefferson. There will be an illustrated lecture, "Andrea Palladio and Thomas Jefferson -- Italian Renaissance architecture reinterpreted for the New World." The speaker will be Ed Polk Douglas, of Lyons, an historical design consultant. The meeting will be held in the Undercroft of Grace Episcopal Church, Phelps and Lawrence Streets, beginning at 7:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Douglas has studied the careers of Palladio and Jefferson for many years, visiting many of their respective surviving works in Italy and Virginia. In addition he is an alumnus of The University of Virginia, founded by Jefferson in Charlottesville in 1819.
