Happenings The bell choir at the Second Reformed Church presented a Ministry of Music at the two morning worship services on Easter morning, April 4, 1999. This choir is under the direction of Jane Nevlezer. Parents, Frank, and Betty Baker of Horsebeard Horseheads, enjoyed Easter dinner with Paul and Jody Bender and Dave, Neil and Alison, spending the day together. April 9 - Roast Beef Supper at the Marion American Legion Home on Witherden Road. Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary wishes to Rog and Gen Adriaansen on April 9. The first meeting of the Spring Season of the Marion Senior Citizens will be held on Tuesday, April 13th at the Marion Fire Hall at noon. Bring a dish to pass for the pot luck dinner and enjoy the fellowship of the group gathering there. The presentation of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" being held at the Gates Hall in Pultneyville on April 9, 10, 16, 17 at 8 p.m. and on April 11 at 2 p.m. Jerry Ellsworth traveled from Albany to spend the Easter weekend with his mother, Eunice Ellsworth at the Drumlin Estates complex. After spending 59 years on the family farm, on Minsteed Road, Marion, Cynthia Steurrys will now be in residence at Park Place at 107 West Myrtle Ave. in Newark 14513. A display titled, "Our Genealogy" will be displayed at the Marion Museum on Marion's birthday, Thursday, April 15. Hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Belated Wedding Anniversary Wishes to Fred and Mona Rachow on April 1, 1999. Visit to France: After a successful exchange last February 1998 with a partner school Lycee Jeanne Bernard in Nantes, France, seven Marion Students will visit France from April 16 to May 3. These students will be staying with host families for eighteen days and will be immersed in French culture and language, spending time in school for five days and going to Paris and seeing sites such as Mont St. Michel. The annual Senior Citizen's Breakfast is scheduled for Wednesday, April 14th at 9:00 am in the Marion High School cafeteria. The breakfast will be followed by a brief program of entertainment. Reservations can be made by calling the high school at 926-4228. Reservations are required and must be made immediately. Marion Elementary Science Fair - Saturday, April 10 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The community is invited to come and view the work of Marion's budding scientists. Carl and Ann Taylor enjoyed the company of their family when they served an Easter Brunch following church services. Monday, April 12 will be the ham dinner at the Second Reformed Church on Mill Street, 4:30 pm until sold out. Menu - ham, baked potatoes, salad bar, rolls, homemade desserts and beverages. Take-outs available. There will be a voluntary donation to support the Youth Group's trip to Colorado. Lillian Cherrier of Sunset Drive spent Easter with her family, Debbie Farnsworth and Marilyn Shaw and family in Seneca Falls. 5th and 6th Grade Band Spring Concert at the Marion Elementary School Auditorium at 7:30 pm on April 15. Art and Laura Tierson have returned from a vacation in Florida where they stayed with Rog and Sheila Larwood and had a wonderful time in the sun. Copyright © 1999 |
