Photo show to open in Lyons Opening May 7 at Wayne County Council for the Arts is "A Body of Photographs," a community-based art exhibit of photography. Photographic artists, both professional and amateur from throughout the region, were invited to to show their work in this non-competitive atmosphere. "The result is a terrific amalgam of styles and approaches to the medium," said Arts Council Executive Director Kevin Schoonover. "From avante garde abstract work to quaint landscapes, we were hoping to show a cross-section of what this art form is capable - and I think we succeeded." Photographs enhanced by computer or manipulated via printmaking are two examples of the visual treats at this show.Also included will be a collection of historic and unique photographic equipment from private collections. An opening reception for "A Body of Photographs" will be held on May 7 from 7-8:30 p.m. All are invited to attend. Refreshments from Heluva Good Cheese in Sodus will be avaiiable. This show will be on display and open to the public until June 4. Council for the Arts is located at the corner of Broad and Water Streets in Lyons. Gallery hours are weekdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturdays during exhibitions from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., or by appointment. Admission to all Arts Council exhibitions is free.
