Children in 2nd, 5th, 8th and 11th grades in Newark Schools and St. Michael School are eligible to enter the essay contest, which focuses on pride in Newark. Details will come through the Newark Central School District and St. Michael School. The Rose Committee continues with the goal of re-establishing Rose Gardens throughout the Village of Newark. Through work with Village officials, business owners, and private individuals, the Rose Committee is striving to plant literally hundreds of public and private rose gardens at businesses, residences, and municipal parks. The Rose Committee is able to provide gardening advice and free plants, courtesy of Jackson & Perkins Gratis Rose Program, to interested community members. If you have an idea for a Rose Garden in Newark, please contact Emily Leone at 331-2993. Copyright © 1999 |
