Our neighbor Troy, son of Jim and Linda Meland, celebrated his fifth birthday on July 28 with family and friends. One of his favorite gifts is a drum set!

Remember: Antique Car Show and Flea Market at the Town Park on August 15. Concessions by the Masonic Lodge No. 926. Winners must be present for trophy presentation at 3:30 p.m. Members of United Church and First Reformed Church will serve delicious strawberry shortcakes.

Ready for a Bermuda cruise? It's September 18-25 and includes activities and all meals on the Norwegian Cruise Line. Call Isabelle Bushart at 926.7764 for info and reservations.

Congrats to Jay Ramsey, who has scored TWO holes-in-one this year. The first was on the 12th hole at Silver Creek Golf Club in Waterloo. The second one was at the Cross Lake Golf Course in Clarendon, Canada.

Patience is a virtue. It's not for nothing that those in the doctor's waiting room are called patients.

Rhonda Hares is recovering at home from surgery.

Coffee hour at the United Church on August 1 was provided by Bill and Mary Richards.

Happy birthday to Delia Johnson on August 16.

Bob and Erma Clark enjoyed brunch on Sunday at the Garlock House in Palmyra. They were guests of their daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Jerry Hares. The occasion honored their granddaughter Amy Hares, who just graduated from Newark and will soon head for college in Cobleskill. Other guests were grandparents Dorothy and Donald Hares, her sister Harriet, and Amy's sisters Kelly and Laura, and brother-in-law Mark DeYoung, and Diane Morris, of Manchester.

AUGUST 6, 1936: While returning from Brooklyn, Mr. and Mrs. John Fichter discovered that two trunks, tied onto their car with clothesline, had been lost. The trunks were recovered within two weeks, having been picked up by some Brooklyn people who were traveling over the same route. Identification was made from the name in a spectacle case.

Julie Wise presented the ministry of music at the Second Reformed Church last Sunday.

Stan Magde remains in the hospital (Strong Memorial) following a car accident.

Nellie DeWispelaere is home following surgery.
