Want to be an antiques dealer?

A free seminar on how to become an antiques and collectibles dealer will be held August 18 at 7 p.m. at the Alton Antique Center.

The seminar is ideal for those who would like to learn more about buying and selling the things that are most cherished.

Participants will learn:

- the responsibilities and advantages of having a New York State Sales Tax number,
- how and where to acquire a certificate of authorization sales tax number,
- buying and selling strategies,
- how to inventory and track merchandise and expenses,
- how to run a business and figure profit and loss,
- how to limit theft of merchandise,
- where and how to research merchandise to buy it right and sell at a profit, and
- where and how to sell antiques and collectibles.
