Caramel apple pie takes the prize

Ralph Bliek of Williamson has again won first place at the County Fair Pie Contest. He was the first man to win the contest (last year) and he has repeated the act. He competed with 49 other contestants for the title of Best Pie Baker, and a $50 prize. His winning pie is a caramel apple pie that scored 41 out of 50 points.

Second place went to Janet Bills of Macedon with a peach pie.

Third place goes to Phyllis DeCann of Ontario, with a cherry berry pie.

Fourth place was won by Linda Valley of Palmyra; she made a cherry almond macaroon pie.

Fifth place went to Sara Bills of Macedon - a Genesee Valley apple crumb pie. Sara is Janet's daughter.

Adam McIntyre, 11, of Lyons, won sixth place with his orange pie.

Motts North America of Williamson sponsored the contest, held on August 10 at the Fairgrounds.

After the competition, all pies were auctioned by Van's Auction Service of Marion.

Sammi Saversky bought the winning pie for a whopping $80! The auction raised $487, which goes towards County Fairgrounds renovations.
