Recipes from Carolyn Adriaansen

Marion Town Historian Carolyn Adriaansen not only writes a weekly column of local Happenings, she gathers recipes from odd and assorted sources. She has put together several pamphlets that feature such collections as Easter favorites, Dutch recipes, Christmas goodies...

This week, she has passed along these just for fun:

Popcorn Cake

4 quarts popcorn (popped)
1 pound small gumdrops
1/2 pound salted nuts
1/2 cup butter
1 pound small marshmallows

Melt butter, oil, gum drops and marshmallows in Micro, pour over popcorn, add nuts, stir and pour into greased pans.

One Egg

It's hardly enough for breakfast.
It isn't enough when you bake.
It isn't sufficient to make meringue,
or cookies or a cake.
It doesn't go far in a salad, though you devil it,
slice it or chop it;
But it covers the floor from wall to wall,
if you happen to drop it!

Veggie Weggie

2 pkgs. refrigerated crescent rolls
2 (8-oz.) pkgs. cream cheese
1 pkg. dry ranch dressing mix
1 cup mayonnaise

veggies:
carrots, zucchini, broccoli, etc.

Lay crescent rolls flat on ungreased cookie sheet. Press down and bake (as directed on package) until golden brown. Mix together cream cheese with dressing mix and mayo. Spread mixture on cooled rolls. Press finely chopped veggie on cream cheese. Refrigerate. Cut into 1-inch squares to serve.
