Happenings By Carolyn Adriaansen (926-4436) Be looking for the 50-50 raffle at the Chamber of Commerce booth at the Festival this weekend. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of the bronze bell that once pealed from the Marion Collegiate Institute. Stuart and Joan Bornstein and family were in Marion from Tappan, vising their folks, Vern and Mil Leenhouts, to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Last weekend, our family tried a new recipe - beer can chicken. There was a sort-of disaster, but the chicken turned out very good. Not bad for a first try! Freedom of the press means no-iron clothes. It's time to sign up for the Olde Cape Cod bus trip that Isabelle Bushart is offering. The trip is Oct. 18-22 and includes Hyannis, Kennedy Memorial, Provincetown, Sandwich, Plymouth Rock and a lobster dinner. Call 926.7764 for information and reservations. It's this weekend the Marion Festival at the Town Park, Aug. 28-29. AUGUST 26, 1926: Both the founding of Marion township and the opening of the Marion-Palmyra highway will be celebrated Saturday with the extensive program marking the 100th anniversary.
