Missing Sodus
I received a note from Fred Burkhard the other day. Did you go to the Pancake Breakfast the Wallington Fire Department had? Last year, they had a fireworks display and so many loved it that this year, there will be another one. (It will, hopefully, become an annual event.) The display is being paid for by donations from local businesses, Wallington, Alton and Sodus Center Fire Departments and the public. The display will be Sunday (Dec. 19) at 6 p.m. Because of the Christmas theme, the display will have Holiday colors of red, green and glitter plus a couple of surprises. There will be an early salute at 5 p.m., continued every l5 minutes until the show begins. It sounds like a lot of fun. (I love fireworks.)
Al Dobbin and his daughter, Sue, have been busy singing (and enjoying themselves). They sang at the Faith United Methodist Church in Wolcott not long ago and at the Free Methodist Church in Williamson a couple of weeks ago. Of course, Al has his Nursing Home schedule to keep up with as well. (Don't forget - Al sells shrimp this time of year . If you need shrimp for a get- together or a party, Al Dobbin is the man to see.) Don't forget the Annual Sodus Decorating Contest sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. The judging will be on December 20. You can nominate a residence by writing to: P.O. Box l87, Sodus, NY l455l Christmas will be here soon. Don't forget to take the kids and make a cool project at the Williamson Library from l0 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 21 will be the last for making great projects. While you're there, pick up a few of the holiday books they have to borrow. We've always got favorites to share - click here. And, speaking of books - Congratulations to Stephanie Taft at Sodus Intermediate School for her winning bookmark. I hear it reads, "A Good Book Warms the Heart." The contest was part of the Book Week celebration. Tomorrow (Sat., Dec. 18), the Village of Wolcott will be celebrating the Holidays with the Boy Scout Christmas tree sale, sidewalk sales, music, a free Holiday Movie , the high school choir, a cookie walk and a live Nativity Scene. Be there at 1 p.m. (Sounds like an old-fashioned fun Christmas event.) There's a Cookie Walk in Sodus tomorrow, too. Be at the Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Christmas Birthdays:
