A variety of books to share
There are many wonderful sources for getting great books; the library and the schoolbook orders are two of them. There is an assortment of Grumpy Bunny books ...This is just one of them, but they are all fun to read. (These books are for the more advanced reader but still enjoyable for all ages to hear. The illustrations are colorful and cute... I just love seeing animals in winter scarves and mittens.)
Grumpy Bunny's Snowy Day by Justine Korman. Grumpy Bunny always starts out grumpy, the kinderbunnies are always irritating him. He goes out after a snowy night to shovel his driveway, then plans a quiet day of being inside. The kinderbunnies think the snow is wonderful. Grumpy Bunny comes up with an idea to get the little ones to shovel for him. If they shovel, they'll get hot chocolate. They'll shovel if the Grumpy Bunny promises to sled with them. Sometimes we all need kinderbunnies to get us motivated.
Skating on Thin Ice by Louise Everette. A cute, simple story about two elephant friends who like to ice skate. Joe and his friend always skate together. On this particular day, a new little girl elephant comes to skate as well. Joe shows off a bit and ends up falling in the ice.
More easy-to-read stories are in a series called A Bug, A Bear and A Boy. They are about little adventures the friends have. The stories are easy to read and the pictures are cute. Children can feel they have accomplished a lot when they read a whole book all by themselves. These stories are just such books (with maybe a little help from mom or an older sibling. Sometimes, after a long day, it's fun to have someone read to you for a change.)
A Bug, A Bear , and A Boy Plant a Garden by David McPhail. In this adventure, the friends decide to (you guessed it) plant a garden. They work hard together digging the dirt and planting the seeds. A new friend enters the picture looking for lunch. The Bug, Bear and Boy build a fence and everybody watches as the plants grow. Even the bunny from the other side.
A Bug, A Bear and A Boy Go For a Ride by David McPhail. This adventure takes the friends for a ride. The bear wants to go for a ride in the wagon but is too big for the boy to pull him. The friends must work together and think about how to do it. As it turns, out a hill is just the answer and all the friends can ride together.
Enjoy! Reading should always be a fun experience and adventure.
