Missing Sodus Another week has gone by and we're one step closer to spring. (I'm getting really tired
of sliding Have you been planning your gardens? Ordering seed catalogs? In the meantime, a great plant to have on your kitchen window sill is the Aloe plant. When you get a small burn just break off a piece and rub gently on the area. It is soothing and takes the pain out of the burn. (It may even prevent blistering.) We bought our plant at Norris's in Sodus last year. They grow really fast and from time to time you find little plants in the same pot that can be transplanted to make another one for a friend. In this column, you'll see some pictures of gardens that you planted last year. I caught quite a few of you in my travels - Sodus, Williamson, Pultneyville.
The Sodus sixth graders have graduated from this year's D.A.R.E. Program. Each student received a sweatshirt, and a certificate to get a free Frosty at Wendy's. Students put on a skit and wrote essays about what they had learned from the program. There was also a poster competition. The three winners were: Rianna Mayou, who won $100 for first prize,
Thomas DePew - $50 for third place. Congratulations for a job well done! The Girl Scouts will be having their first annual Father/Daughter Bowling event on February 20. It will be held at Rose Bowl Lanes in Newark at 7 p.m. I'm sure they'll have a great time. The Sodus third graders went to the Eastman House in Rochester on the third to learn
more about their studies, People Changing America. The fourth graders went to the
Eastman Theater to see a concert on by the Rochester Philharmonic. (The 6th grade will
enjoy the same great experience The Boy Scouts are selling candles from the Yankee Candle Company. There are many
assorted candle fragrances to chose from as well as different types of candle holders.
There are bags of samplers, housewarmer candles, an assortment of books, bird feeders and
sunflower or pansy starter kits. Watch for the Boy Scouts to knock on your door.
You can send me your gardening tips, coming events and let me know how you all are by e-mailing: I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Copyright © 1999 |
