Newark school project passes

The Newark school building project passed, 1080-530, at yesterday's polls.

School Superintendent Bob Christmann said this morning, "I offer my deepest appreciaion to the community for their support. It will make a tremendous positive difference for our students in the 21st century."

The $47.7 million building project includes changes such as the Kelley School becoming the Middle School (grades 6, 7 and 8) and the school on West Miller changing to accommodate grades 3, 4 and 5.

The expansion will add instructional space in all five schools, new library/media rooms, an auditorium for Kelley School, a parent drop-off loop at Perkins School, a wheelchair lift at Lincoln, a new gym/bleachers at Perkins School, and a new gym at the High School.
