By Carolyn Adriaansen (926-4436) "Happy Birthday Wishes" to Evelyn VerPlank on her birthday on February 17. The SOUPER BOWL OF CARING was a great success. About 40 young people from Wayne County churches brough 204 food items to the United Church in the afternoon. A total of $160 was collected. The Marion Food Pantry will receive 194 food items, plus the $85 collected at the church. REMEMBER: The Chicken and Biscuit Dinner at the United Church on March 1. February 15-19 - NO SCHOOL - Presidents week recess "No couple has ever spent a pleasant evening with a checkbook." Hazel VanHall has returned home after being a hospital patient at Sodus Hospital. On February 15, the Marion Museum will be open from 3 to 5 p.m. with a display of "Salt Dips." If you have any unusual ones to share, give me a call. Crystal Lancaster, 16, of Marion, daughter of Kim Lancaster, was selected on January 16 to audition for the 1999 World Championship of Performing Arts in Singing. Crystal was selected during a talent search by Lynn R. Rabish, Executive Talent Scout, of One Moment in Time. World Championships will be held from August 15-22 in Los Angeles, CA. This week I want to recommend Henry's Home Smoked Bacon at Smith Packing Company. It is absolutely wonderful! In fact, everything I've tried has been so good. Brian and Colleen (Wolcott) Bradfield were united in marriage at the United Church on February 6. FEBRUARY 13, 1947 - Marion Town Health Committee has recently purchased two new wheel chairs to add to the equipment available in its loan closet. And on the Baked Potato Soup - I would only use the green onion for garnish.
