Burns Birthday celebration set ...For Auld Lang Syne Around the world people gather to celebrate the birthday of renowned Scottish poet Robert Burns, author of this most famous and universal song, as well as many other works that are a part of our culture today. This Jan. 31, beginning at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on West Main Street in Wolcott, Seaway Studios - Arts and Cultural Center will be sponsoring its third annual celebration honoring Robbie Burns. The Festivities will include traditional Scottish music, song, and foods. Included will be poetry readings of the master's works and the heart-gripping strains of the bagpipe. Traditional singers and musicians will encourage the audience to take part in a unique brand of Scottish revelry. Are you brave enough to try some haggis? Shortbread, scones, oat bread, scotch broth, haggis, "neaps," and "cock-a-leekie" soup are some of the refreshments that will be offered. Tickets are on sale for a raffle of eight Scottish gift assortments. Prices are $1 per ticket or $5 for 6 tickets, proceeds to benefit Seaway Studios - Arts & Cultural Center.
