WCTA Scholarship announced

WCTA Federal Credit Union is once again offering The Donald K. Rhine College Scholarship Program.

This offers students of all ages the opportunity to earn one of five $1000 college scholarships, regardless of the class year for which they are enrolled for the 1999/2000 school year.

Education and WCTA have been hand-in-hand since the Wayne County-based credit union was founded in 1970, by then-teacher Donald K. Rhine. Initially formed to provide low-cost financial services for the employees of local school districts, WCTA has grown to serve employees and members of over 180 companies and organizations, located primarily in Wayne and Ontario counties.

In addition to the Rhine scholarship, WCTA is participating in two other college scholarship programs offered by the Rochester Credit Union District and New York State Credit Union League. Both programs are available to high school seniors and the NYSCUL program has expanded to include adult students who are attending college for the first time. Applicants will compete with other credit union members in the Rochester area and across the state for $500 and $1,000 scholarships.

Applicants for all three scholarship programs must be WCTA members, and deadlines vary from February 5 to March 31.

Applications are available at any WCTA branch or by calling (800) 724-9282.
