Newark Masons celebrate 175th Year

Newark MasonsIn 1824 the Masonic Lodge had its beginnings in Newark with the charter to operate as a masonic lodge. The first Master of the Lodge, James Bartle, was also the first Postmaster, first supervisor of the town of Arcadia and an assemblyman for one term. The tradition of service to the community, set by the Colonel of the State militia, has been carried on by the members of the Masonic lodge, with mayors, supervisors, doctors, lawyers, ministers and other types of business men in the community.

Chairman George Mcfaul has listed many of the activities the lodge will undertake in the following year which will include the Boy Scouts, other fraternal organizations, displays at the public library and special meetings for the public as well as the fraternity.
