devolderNewark Postman retires

After 16 years with the United States Postal Service, Dick DeVolder has sold his last stamp.

Cake was served in the break room of the Newark Post Office Tuesday, to wish DeVolder good luck in his retirement. He started with the Postal Department as a substitute rural carrier, then was with the Lyons Post office. He returned to Newark, where he finished his career.

Hobbies of collecting coins and stamps will keep DeVolder busy, along with caring for his Summit Drive home.

Customers who frequent the post office window, as well as fellow workers, will miss DeVolder's friendly smile.
