Mrs. R.S. Bloomer of 336 Grace Ave., Newark, celebrated her 100th birthday on Tuesday at her home, with little fanfare. Last Sunday, however, was a different story. More than 90 relatives, and just as many friends and acquaintances, joined her at the Newark Country Club to celebrate.

Elinor Hallagan was born July 27, 1899 in Canasota, New York, the daughter of S.E. and Elizebeth Howell Hallagan. The family moved to Newark in 1912, as part of the relocation of the Canastota Couch Co. to the former Mora Automobile Co. plant on Hoffman Street. The company name then became the Hallagan-Thompson Co. and later Hallagan Manufacturing Co.

After graduating from Elmira College, Elinor married Robert S. Bloomer in 1925. She has three children: Tom Bloomer of Skaneateles, Bob Bloomer of Charlotte, NC and Mrs. Robert (Mary) Gulick of Rochester. She has 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
