Pops Concert in Lyons

On June 9 at 7 p.m., the Lyons Junior-Senior High bands will present their annual Pops Concert. The concert will be held outside the school, weather permitting. The bands will present a program of music from the Sixties through the present.

The Jazz Band will reminisce to the Sixties with their renditions of "Gimme Some Lovin..." and to the tropics with "Caribbean Delights." The Seventies are handled by the Junior High Band with "Queen In Concert." "Low Bass Boogie" and "Cartoon Symphony" round out their offering. The Senior High Band gives us more of the Seventies with a medley. There will then be a number from the present by way of the Swing Era with "Jump Swing Fever." Their final number is a medley, "Hitsville U.S.A. (40 Years of Motown)." The concert will be followed by an awards presentation.

The public is also invited to a Student Art Show from 6 to 7 p.m. The exhibit will showcase new computer graphics and other select high school artworks.

The concert is free and open to the public. In the event that the concert is held outside, those attending are invited to bring lawn chairs.
