By Carolyn Adriaansen (926-4436) Days Past: "At night, after the factory work hours were over, kids including Eugene Keukelaar, Morris Schoonerman, Robert DeNearing and Richard DeNearing, would jump into the trough of warm water, used to cool the hot cans of vegetables, behind the main factory building at the Wayne County Canning Company on Buffalo Street. A delightful treat for a kid in the days before backyard swimming pools." Anyone between ages 14 and 19 may sign up for Legion Baseball. Call Paul Devlin ASAP at 926-7707. Brad Johnson, Commander of Memorial Post #1430 and 11 Post members, placed 440 American flags in the cemetery prior to Memorial Day. Thanks to all of you who attended the fundraising dinner to raise money for flag holders. If you know of a veteran in the Marion Cemetery without a flag, call Nancy Nevelizer at 926-4373. Howard and Ruth Vice went to Toronto on the 29th to attend the baseball game between the Blue Jays and the Yankees. Lillian Cherrier of Sunset Drive spent Sunday in Seneca Falls at a Going Away Party for her granddaughter Tanya, who is moving to New York City. Music awards night is June 9 at 7:30 at the high school. Marion 8th grade Recognition Night is June 8. The sixth-grade trip to Camp Stella Maris will be June 9-11. June 11: Cabaret Night featuring Show Choir and Jazz Ensemble, at 8 p.m. The United Church's Children's Day will be June 6 at Casey Park on Knickerbocker Road, Ontario. Worship starts at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck picnic. Hotdogs, rolls and beverages will be provided. All are welcome. Activities include volleyball, baseball, canoeing, paddle boats. The gathering of St. Gregory/St. Anne's Cluster will be June 6 at 10 a.m. at the high school Happy birthday to Bea Schultz on June 9. Jake Haak is recuperating at home folowing surgery.
