Bartucca wins by 9 Those present guess that about 500 people attended the Arcadia GOP caucus last night, with 413 casting votes. The Republican endorsement for Arcadia Supervisor went to incumbent Dominic Bartucca, who edged by Gary Grant, 211 votes to 202. This November's election will be the first to seat the supervisor for four years. It will mark Bartucca's second run. Four men were vying to run for two town council seats. Mike DeJohn won 257 votes and Gerald DeBarr received 238 votes. Newcomers John Zornow and Dale Chauncey trailed with 155 and 109, respectively. Incumbent DeJohn will try for his eighth four-year term as a Town Councilman. He has spent many of those years serving as Deputy Supervisor, and heading town committees for Highway, Planning, Buildings, Grounds, Assessments and Insurance. DeBarr is no stranger to politics, either. He was elected to the Town Board in 1977, and to the Supervisor's seat in '79. He held that post until Democrat Tom Healy unseated him in 1985. It wasn't until Healy retired in 1997 that the GOP reclaimed the post with candidate Bartucca. Grant's loss of his party's endorsement doesn't put him out of the picture. He will remain on the Town Board, his term expiring in 2001. Running unopposed at caucus were Town Clerk Diane Allerton and Justice Don Fletcher. The Republicans offered no names in nomination for the post of Arcadia Highway Superintendent. Democrat David Harder has held the job since 1985. The Democrats will caucus in August.
