Sterling Festival opens July 3

Since its inception in 1977, thousands of visitors have been enchanted by the magical world known as the Sterling Renaissance Festival.

The festival is now entering its 23rd year as the Finger Lakes region's only historical re-enactment of the Renaissance period, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.

For seven weekends, July 3 through August 15, participants from all across the country come to authenticate and bring to life Queen Elizabeth and her entourage of lords and ladies. Upon entering the gates, these fun-loving professionals welcome you to engage in challenging games, interactive theatre; observe award-winning artisans; and enjoy authentic music, dance, foods and drink.

The Festival is located on the cool shores of Lake Ontario in Sterling. It's naturally wooded site has been developed over the years to encompass the present 35 acres.

Although the summer is a time of lush beauty-that doesn't last long, neither does the Renaissance Festival.
