Winter storm causes power outages

Heavy, wet snow and high winds caused widespread and scattered outages throughout the Wayne, Ontario, Seneca and Yates County areas. As of 8 a.m. Thursday morning, March 4, a total of approximately 245 customers were without power, with the majority located in the Minsteed Road area of Wayne County and the LeHigh Street of Ontario County. NYSEG crews have responded to these locations and should have power restored before noon today.

NYSEG urges people to stay away from all fallen and low hanging wires, even wires that appear "dead" can be energized and dangerous. Report all outages and downed wires to NYSEG by calling 1-800-572-1131.
