Lyons High school art show

Showcasing the best in visual art from high schools throughout the county, Wayne County Council for the Arts is pleased to present the 17th Annual Wayne County High School Art Show. This exhibit is on display in their gallery from March 7 until April 2.

The Arts Council is located at 2 Broad Street in Lyons. Gallery hours are weekdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturdays during exhibits from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., or by appointment. Call 946-5078 for more information.

An opening reception is planned for Sunday, March 7 from 2-4 p.m. Admission is free and all are encouraged to attend and see the fine art work being done in our schools. This year's show is generously sponsored by Lyons National Bank. All Wayne County high school students were invited to participate in this annual event. Over 200 works of art from all but one Wayne County school were displayed last year during this show. For many students, this is their first chance to have their work exhibited in a professional art gallery setting.

"We're hoping all the schools will participate this year," said Arts Council Director Kevin Schoonover. "Community recognition outside the school is a fantastic opportunity for the students as well as for the art programs and teachers themselves."

The following school districts have agreed to involve their student's art work in this show: Clyde-Savannah, Gananda, Lyons, North Rose-Wolcott, Palmyra-Macedon, Red Creek, Sodus, Wayne, and Williamson central schools along with the Wayne Area Vocational Center.
