He is a sophomore, planning to major in business. From the high school: "Hello Dolly!" will be presented on March 12 and 13 at 8 p.m. Tickets at the door. The spring concert is planned for March 25, at 7 p.m., at the school. The snowstorm made it impossible for last week's edition to be printed (in Canandaigua) on time. Thanks for understanding why the papers arrived late, at stores and in the mail. (The really fun part is that papers going to Marion must go through the Rochester Post Office and then back to Marion.) Rebecca Lewis competed in the indoor track state meet. She had her second-best time ever. A roast beef dinner is planned at the American Legion on Witherden Road, March 19, from 5-8 p.m. The 8th grade girls basketball team ended the season with a win over Gananda, 21-20. The Historic Assn. meeting has been moved to April. Watch for dates. MARCH 15, 1934: Dr. Arthur Besemer, health officer, reports that the water supply of Marion has been examined by the State Deptartment of Health at Albany and found to be in excellent condition. The Marion OES will have a pancake breakfast on March 21, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge on North Main St. A 10-percent discount for presale tickets. The Women's Guild is assembling three infant layettes for Church World Service. Three baby sweaters are needed. Call Bereniece Sewert. Thanks to you who attended the chicken and biscuit dinner at the United Church. John and Jane Ballesty are back from a trip to Blowing Rock, NC in the Blue Ridge Mountains. They were visiting Dave and Barb Ballesty. Winter Sports Awards Night is 7 p.m. on March 18 at the school. Joan Bornstein and daughter Diana came from Tappan to spend time with Vern and Mil Leenhouts on the occasion of his Feb. 24 birthday. Dear Dan: You wouldn't believe the high piles of "poor man's fertilizer" surrounding everyone's house and barn. It's been quite awhile since I've seen the snow so high between us and the neighbor's driveways. Plan to attend the Marion Community Carnival to be held at the High School on Friday, March 19. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Admission is $1 and game tickets are available at the door as well as ahead of time at both schools. Dozens of game booths, activities, the spook house, raffles, kiddie land, cotton candy and food will please everyone. Come! Join the fun and support scholarships for the Marion Seniors graduating in June. Our #3 son helped tape Marion's piles of snow following the Blizzard of '99. The Junior High Group at the United Church is selling tickets for $50 worth of free gas from Marion Shurfine. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to buy Easter food baskets for needy families from Marion. The drawing will be held on March 26. On March 14, the Trustee Board will host a "Thanks For Giving" Dinner to thank all the members of their church family for their efforts in restoring the building and for their generous financial support of the church. Hunter Jeffrey and Trevor Michael, sons of Sherwood and Tina DeLyser, received the Sacrament of Baptism at the United Church on March 7. Jacob DeLyser and Heather Halstead are Godparents.
