Newark Municipal Board meets

At the March 9 Municipal Board Meeting, Russ Harris, who has been working on Y2K compliance for the village, announced that he would be leaving village employment as of March 15, to take a position with the Wayne Central School District.

George Attenboro presented a report on the emergency response plan for the waste water treatment plant. The final draft is ready to be sent to the New York State Department of Health.

Permission was granted to allow George Attenboro, Carlton Timerson, and James Bridgeman to attend the Finger Lakes Water Works Conference at the Quality Inn, Newark. Attenboro also requested permission to install e-mail. The request was tabled until more information can be gathered regarding the village plan and what other departments are doing. In a related matter, Mayor Pirelli requested the Municipal Board to contribute to the upgrade of computers in the village offices to allow for e]mail.

Sewer and Water Manager James Bridgeman reported on the probelm with hydrants in the Marbletown Rd. area that are being worked on. Bridgeman also advised that the cemetery has approximately 35 years of life left, and that a long term plan should be looked at concerning the aquisition of more land.

Other Municipal Board Action:

* George Attenboro to discuss with Manchester, the possibility of selling their filter plant to Newark for future use.

* Trash pump to be purchased. It was moved by Ed Greco and seconded by Dan Barrett and unaminously carried to allow said trash punp to be purchased within the budget.
