Missing Sodus We had an interesting couple of days. Angel, the black cat in last week's column, likes attention so much that he used a couple of his nine lives. And almost scared me out of mine!
If that wasn't enough, at 4 a.m. Sunday, he somehow set off the security system. Every time I shut off the noise, Angel set off another alarm. I glanced down the stairs to see him wandering up through like nothing was going on. He has decided to lay low since that. This weekend, the Girl Scouts will have their lock in. The fun begins today and lasts through early Sunday morning. (It's the early Sunday morning that gets you.) During the weekend, the older and younger Scouts will be separated - one group will go over to the Newark High School for swimming, while the other has fun at the Church. After a couple of hours, it'll be the other group's turn. Then, when everyone has worked up a big appetite, they'll have a pizza party.
Soon the Boy Scouts will be picking up the Yankee Candle orders for delivery. (I ordered an Apple Crisp - it'll make the house smell much better then burning fur.) Don't forget the pre-school storytime at the Williamson Library on Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11. Each storytime is creative, fun and has a completely different theme. When I had the tag-a-longs for Cub Scout Day Camp, I used a lot of Mrs. Gravelle's ideas. They worked extremely well. (Speaking of Day Camp, Mary Hoffman: What is the theme this year for camp?)

Saturday afternoon, I had a candle way up and away from where the
cat could jump. (I thought.) I glanced over to see him walking away from the lit candle
and he was, in Jim Carey's words, SMOKIN'. The house smelled horrible for a long time.
Fortunately the cat just burnt some of the ends of his fur.
Speaking of lock-ins, Ruth Lennox's group of girls had
a lock-in at the Seneca Park Zoo. In fact, they slept with the otters! (I'm sure there is
an official name for the otter building, but somehow, I've never noticed what it is.) It
sounds like a fun place for a sleepover.
I was reading the other day in the paper about the Books Plus
Boxes. I was informed that the Williamson Library will be having a great new looking Book
Box filled with fun things such as games, lots of books and toys to learn from. There was
one box about clowns which contained everything from the storybooks to a child-size
costume the child could wear. The boxes are a lot of fun and everyone learns while they
play. If you haven't taken one out yet, give one a try. You and your child will love it.
