By Carolyn Adriaansen (926-4436) Nelson and Lori Spears are announcing the March 30 birth of a daughter, Danielle Sandra, at the Auburn Community Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. and 4 oz. and measured 20 and 1/2 in. Proud grandparents are Bill and Sharon Vallier of Williamson Road. April 29 was the date of a luncheon for Helen Adriaansen, the occasion being her retirement. She and Rod were treated to lunch at the Log Cabin by Harold and Eleanor Schoonerman, Rog and Gen Adriaansen and Gordon and Carolyn Adriaansen. "Hugs are not fattening, are non-polluting, not taxable, constantly renewable, happily contagious, and do not require batteries or special assembly." Jay and Carol Ramsey recently returned from a 16 day trip to Arizona. They spent 5 days attending an Elderhostel in the Sonoran Desert where they learned about the desert ecosystem, history of gold mining and early inhabitants of the region. The remainder of the time was spent in touring and visiting such sites as Tombstone, Meteor Crater, Montezuma Castle and the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. Congratulations to Ben Fino-Radin. In a recent Fire Prevention Essay contest, Ben had the strongest essay in the North Central Region. He will be honored at a Firemen's Banquet in June. ANSWERED PRAYER - Our Marion Legion Boys and Girls and the Pony League baseball teams will be able to play their 1999 season on their own turf. From May 17-21, Mark Erb and Janet Kraus teachers at the Marion High School, will be showing a "Collection of Marion Art Students." The display will be shown outside the auditorium during school hours and includes work from students in grades 7-12. In a recent issue of USA Today Weekend Magazine, the youth group at the United Church was recognized for its National "Make a Difference Day" bicycle collection project. The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle chose the United Church youth group, out of all the area efforts for special recognition. On May 2, the young people at the United Church were invited to join other Wayne County Baptist young people at the worship service and Sunday School of the First Baptist Church in Williamson. Following the service, there was a picnic lunch, after which the people participated in the Crop Walk. From time to time the Wayne Area Youth will visit other churches in the area for worship and fellowship. Bertha Kooman celebrated her birthday on May 3. Bill and Barb De Wandel journeyed to Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Cananda where they attended the performance of "A Foggy Day" in London Town, at the Royal George Theater. They lunched at the renowned "Pillar and Post" Restaurant and shopped in the quaint specialty shop.
