Missing Sodus
Congratulations to all who had their First Communion Sunday. (I don't know about your children, but mine couldn't wait to take the fancy, itchy dress off. After a brief trip upstairs, daughter re-appeared with the usual overalls and tee shirt.) I was informed the other day by my daughter that she and a neighbor friend found ducks and a nest. Maybe the next time we see the duck family waddle across the yard there will be some little ones wandering close behind. I'll have to get a duck crossing sign to put up in the backyard. With the nice weather comes the open doors of the local greenhouses. Are Norris and Defishers open for the season yet? I always thought running a greenhouse would be fun, but after watching my sister and brother-in-law with their greenhouse business, believe me, it's a lot of work. On Wednesday May 19 at the Williamson Library there will be a guest speaker. The Williamson Town Historian, Chester Peters, will present another one of his interesting programs. The programs at the library are held from Noon to 1 p.m. in the Program Room on the lower level of the library. Delicious lunches are served. If you'd like to attend a reservation must be made by Monday night. Call 589-2048; the cost is $2.
Don't forget the Williamson Apple Blossom Festival is this weekend. It'll be fun as always with the parade, carnival rides, fireworks, the street dance and scheduled events for the weekend. Don't forget the fly in breakfast at the Williamson-Sodus Airport (Sunday, 7 to noon). For more information please call 315-589-9544. Seems like yesterday we were setting up our lawn chairs waiting for the fireworks to begin. Jamie Peters has been crowned Apple Blossom Queen. Jamie's a high school junior, active in the band, a member of the National Honor Society, and an editor for the yearbook. Princess is Amanda VanderByl. Amanda is in third grade. Wave to them both at the parade.

Another nice, if somewhat cooler, week has
gone by, and of course the weather did not cooperate for our first Communion party. It
rained so much that when the sun did come out to play in the afternoon, it was just too
wet to go outside. (Even Caesar stayed on the deck.)
While out visiting Sodus the last time, I
found a "For Sale" sign in front of Eileen Hooper's home. It seemed so strange
to see it there. (Eileen's Mom had better come back to New York soon or the family could
be crossing paths. Betty might be enroute as we speak.)
Sarah had another Dog Training class this
week. By the time the hour class is finished, we are both exhausted. This time she wanted
to play, so she jumped up and caught her big white Boxer foot in the chain of my necklace.
The kids searched in the grass for the pendant that was on the chain before it was ripped
from my neck. (It was probably the dog biscuits I had in my pocket. It's a wonder I wasn't
attacked by the eight other four-legged students.) If you have any suggestions on how to
