Each year, St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newark uses the walls of its Garden Faire Tearoom as a showcase for local artists. This year, some 15 or 20 works of talented Newark High students will be on display. Paintings and drawings will be taken from studio/art and drawing classes of teachers Tom Jagger, Renee Bailey and Jane Rudio. Visit the Tearoom on Saturday, May 22 and enjoy a fine cup of tea, scones, sandwiches and desserts. And, be sure to take some time to peruse the walls and take in the talent of our budding artists. Tickets are six dollars at the door; seating starts at 11 a.m. and continues until 2 p.m. Afterward, in the courtyard, you may wish to take in St. Mark's Garden Faire. Perennials, annuals, herbs, and floral crafts will all be for sale. The Faire itself is free of charge and starts at 10. It is a wonderful time to connect with gardening enthusiasts in a festive relaxed atmosphere. A grand raffle of a handsome red cedar arbor valued at over $400 will conclude the Faire and Tearoom at 3 p.m. Raffle tickets can be bought at the Faire or in advance at Gilbert's Jewelry in Newark.
