'Star Wars' opens in Newark tonight

To prepare for the release of Star Wars, Showplace 5 Management has installed a DTS Digital Sound System.

"The state-of-the-art system will provide the best movie going experience possible," said Tom Crowley. The DTS System will enhance the current 12-speaker stereo and surround-sound system currently in place. The addition represents a $10,000 investment.

Crowley said the Newark theater has been offering advance sale tickets since Sunday. The eagerly-awaited prequel opens Wednesday, May 19, and the theater has been given permission to show the film at 12:01 a.m.
