Alumni Lacrosse in Newark The Newark Reds Lacrosse Booster Club will host its alumni game at Newark High School on Sat., June 12 at 2 p.m. The cost of the game is $15 per alumni to cover player insurance and equipment rental. The game will be played in memory of Donnie Durgan, a former Newark High School lacrosse player who died in a car accident last November. In 1996, while at NHS, Durgan was a first team all-league selection in the Finger Lakes and a member of the Brine Senior Select All-Star Game. In addition to being an exceptional three-sport athlete in football, wrestling and lacrosse, Durgan is remembered for his outward passion for life and contagious sense of humor. As a tribute to Durgan, Coach Jack Fisher and high school art teacher Renee Bailey established a scholarship to honor the male and female students who most reflect his love for athletics and his desire to become an educator. The proceeds from the alumni game will be split between the Reds Lacrosse Boosters and the Donnie Durgan Memorial Scholarship.
