Silly Socks and Stone Soup

Children at Newark's Wee Care Christian Preschool had Silly Sock Day and also make Stone Soup during the weeks they were learning about letter Ss.

Children at Newark's Wee Care Christian PreschoolParents, grandparents, and babysitters helped students decorate and design their socks with buttons, feathers, small toys, beads, pompons, stickers, hair scrunchies, and other unique items for the Silly Sock Parade. At Wee Care, children are encouraged to be creative when doing projects and in their thinking.

After reading the folk tale, Stone Soup, the youngsters re-enacted the story. Each child contributed vegetables to help make the soup. This was a lesson in sharing.

Wee Care offers a multi-sensory kindergaten preparatory program which includes stories, free play, group games, creative crafts, cooking experiences, field trips, and academic preparation for reading, writing, and math within a Christian environment. To be eligible to enroll children must be four years old by December 1, 1999. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.
