Newark resident and former businessman Thomas Morrison was honored on October 27 at a special Newark Rotary meeting held at the Newark Country Club. Tom, a member of Rotary for over 50 years, was accompanied by his wife, Mary, and several members of his family. Jack Blodgett was master of ceremonies of the event, with Bill Nicholson speaking of the "life" of Tom Morrison. Morrison's varied skills led to careers and hobbies in as an Industrial Arts teacher, radio and TV repair, and clock making. Rotary District Governor Robert Gaffney of Hornell, New York, presented Tom with an award citing his contributions to the area in keeping with Rotary's motto "service above self," as well as the accomplishment of 50 years of perfect attendance. Members and guests enjoyed a dinner and dessert with music for the event supplied by fellow Rotarian, Mr. Seow Tee Koh.
