Historical program kits for the elderly The Wayne County Historical Society is making educational program kits available to nursing homes and elder care sites for interactive entertainment. Each kit includes artifacts from the Society's collections, information about them, and a tape recorder to record the reaction and recollections of the persons as they examine the kit. Topics available are Early Wayne County Settlers, The Country Doctor, The General Store, The Civil War and the Underground Railroad, Before the First Settlers, Pioneer Everyday Life, and The Erie Canal. Museum wins grant Wayne County Historical Museum was recently listed in the not-for-profit agencies that received grant awards from the Wayne County Antique Dealer's Association. The Society was awarded the needed money to purchase small acid-free storage boxes that will be used to store jewelry and display buttons in the inventory and reorganization project.
