Haunted Heyrides start on Oct. 9

ghostIt's time for the Haunted Heyrides, where all of the proceeds go to the Finger Lakes Community Cancer Center at Clifton Springs Hospital.

All of the participants, 150 volunteers in all, donate their time and talents so that those of us who have contracted cancer, or perhaps someone we know and love, can get assistance or help at the local hospital weekend

The first weekend/ nightly October event is on Saturday, October 9. At dusk, wagons of brave souls will venture out into a scary, ride through the woods, winding around through the trees and seeing manned displays. Flashing lights and honking horns seem to appear at unlikely times and places and are guaranteed to frighten even the bravest guest. The ride ends at the Haunted Barn, where your group will walk its way around in a barn with a decorated Halloween theme. At the end of the tour there are treats of sweet cider, apples and a bag of popcorn to nibble on your way home.

REMEMBER: that this is the only Heyride where no one gets a token and all of the receipts are forwarded to the Finger Lakes Community Cancer Center. The location is Armington Road, Palmyra, (off Route 21). Weekends on Friday and Saturdays, beginning on October 9. Tickets are $7.
