Missing Sodus Well, the beautiful, warm, fall weather we were having seems to have completely disappeared! The Geese knew what they were doing when they left last week. Now, the summer flowers are being replaced by colored leaves and Halloween decorations. I found something the other day that is supposed to take some of the mess out of pumpkin scooping. The messy job that somehow mom gets to do. Did you get through the week without the usual back-to-school colds and flu? I was told the other day that there is a bug going around and a croup. We've witnessed this first hand. My daughter brought it home with her on Friday, along with her usual papers and backpack. We make such a big thing about having a black cat around here this time of year, our other cat must wonder what all the fuss is about. Not only does she have to deal with crazy Sarah and her antics, but a conceited black cat as well. After all, Blanche is the smart one and, I'm sure in her mind, much better looking. Tomorrow, there's a Children's Pumpkin Party at Burnap's Farm Market at 1:30 p.m. Then Sunday, there's a Chicken BBQ at the Sodus Center Fire Hall starting at noon. Take the day off from cooking and treat the family to take-out!
Many changes have been made at the Williamson Library. Lorraine Miller, who was the director for over 30 years, retired. I was informed she took the library from a tiny little house with a few books to the Fourth best library in the US (in communities of 5,000-9,000 in populations) For the first time in three decades, there is a new director, Mrs. Gravelle, who was the children's specialist for many years. Robin Whiting is the new Children's Specialist. She and Jennie Cantwell will be doing the fall storytimes. Robin has worked many years at the library and has a background in Physical Education. Congratulations to all and, Lorraine, enjoy your retirement. Speaking of the Library, don't forget Pre-K Storytime at the Williamson Library. Storytime began Wednesday the Oct. 6 and will continue until December 8. Storytimes are Wednesdays, l0:30-ll a.m. I'm sure Robin and Jennie have some great things planned. The Kraft Shack will be having a Kids Halloween Class Tuesday, October l9 from
6:30-7:30 p.m. Kids will make a centerpiece from a pumpkin and fall flowers. $9 includes
all. (Ruth, where do you Remember the Make Today Count Cancer Action group meetings every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. in the Church of Epiphany's Father Cavanaugh Center.
