Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

The weather is definitely getting more chilly in the mornings. Sarah's trips outside are getting much dogshorter. On warmer days of summer, she would be found pulling on Caesar's leash dragging him to her. (This is a girl who knows how to get attention.)

Eileen Hooper's mom has made her migration to the South (just like the geese). Eileen e-mailed that she had taken her kids and mom to Epcot this past weekend. They saw the new parade and fireworks. Apparently, there were large puppets and Susie got to dance with one. Another exciting thing happened - Eileen got to see the group 98 Degrees do some recording , probably taping for a Christmas show. The children want to enter a Halloween contest in the area where they live, so they've been making their yard exceptionally spooky this year.

Speaking of Halloween have you gotten your pumpkins yet? Do you have a Halloween craft idea or trick to share? Please remember to e-mail me so I can share it. (I usually get too excited and start decorating at the end of September, then I notice all the cute things other people have and wonder why I didn't think of that. I suppose you only have one front door - how many things can you do with it in a year?)

pumpkinsDon't forget the Kids Halloween class at the Kraft Shack Tuesday, October the 19 from 6:30 to 7:30. The cost is $9. They will be making a fall centerpiece from a pumpkin and fall flowers. On October 26, there will be a Basic Rubber Stamping class from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. You'll learn the basics of rubber stamping, including how to emboss, and create a Halloween card. The cost is $20 and includes all. You need to pre-register and pre-pay for classes to help keep costs low.

The Williamson Library will have a Books Sandwiched-In on Wed., Oct. 20. Arline Stephany will discuss Pearl S. Buck and review a biography of her written by Peter Conn. Call 589.2048

The Sodus Library will have a Books Sandwiched-In on Thurs., Oct. 21 with the Reverend Ralph Deen-Clingan. Call to reserve your space.

The used Book Sale at the Williamson Library is still going on this weekend. (I was always going to get one, maybe two at the most, and would come out with a bag full. You can't buy books for those prices any where else.)

Books...of course, we have more children's stories to share with you. Just click here.

For Make A Difference Day on October 23, the Sodus Primary kids are collecting pennies & pop cans to raise $$ for flood victims in North Carolina. Please support their efforts.

costumesAnd at Sodus High, they're planning their coming production of Harvey. The curtain goes up November 5 & 6 at 7:30 p.m.

The Myers Twig Association is selling a new coverlet that features local landmarks and buildings. Get yours at the hospital's Twig Gift Shop.

Enjoy your week and, if you have the time, go for a little ride and admire the pretty leaves. My kids at this point would appreciate it if Id pay more attention to the road and where the car is going. And take the hayride when you go to get your pumpkins. We always picked some up at the Apple Shed this time of year with the apples and pumpkins. Have fun.

Don't forget to send me information on your garage sales, books sales, ideas you'd like to share, birthdays or funny things your kids and animals do.
