Marion Masons discuss railroad history

Marion Lodge #926 recently enjoyed a presentation by W. Gerald Chapman and W. Rick Bush on the history of the Marion-Newark Railroad.

An HO scale diorama constructed by Bro. Gerry depicted the Marion Ice House and the loading of the refrigerator cars with ice. Bro. Rick's slide show with pictures of the engines, cars, station, and even the last stage coach in Marion were well received.

Gerry's display of railroad memorabilia was informative, including over 1000 actual photographs of engines, roundhouses and stations that he has taken over the years.

Bro. Harold Bush and Bro. Roger Adriaansen added some colorful memories to the presentation, as they, along with several members of the lodge, actually rode the train. Everyone enjoyed Roger's account of his portrayal of Santa Claus arriving by train to the enjoyment of the children of Marion.

Worshipful Master Jack Sewert commented that this presentation is a wonderful example of the resources and excitement of the members of Marion Lodge.

The next presentation will be on the pleasures of bicycling by Bro. David Sewert on November 23. All Master Masons are welcome to attend.
