Missing Sodus While standing in the dark waiting for the kids' bus to come this morning, a neighbor informed me we could have snow this weekend. A more gradual change is more of what I'm looking for. (I'm just getting used to being cold and fighting to get in the car with my big coat. ) Have you gotten the candy for the Trick or Treaters? It's amazing how much more candy, Halloween decorations and trinkets you buy when your children are shopping with you. I used to go shopping alone but now I work at a school here, so the kids come shopping with me - big mistake. I still haven't figured out how I will shop for Christmas. Have any tips? Speaking of Halloween, I know a family in Sodus who just loves this time of year. In fact, Jeremy Pike has a Halloweenish birthday coming up. Happy Birthday! I hear there's plenty to do this weekend at Orchard View Country Market - a haunted house, lots of pumpkins, apples, and tomorrow (Saturday), the Minni-Whinny Petting Zoo. Stop by the corner of Ridge Road and Lake Bluffs Road. (Don't forget to pick up some Indian corn and some cider.) Congratulations to the Sodus and Clyde-Savannah schools for the huge amount of money they were left - $9.3 million to be exact! How wonderful - that's a lot of scholarships. Make plans to get to the Pultneyville Candlelight Cemetery Tours this weekend. Plenty of cider after the tours. The Sodus Library storytime is on Mondays at l0:30 with Helen Combes. When you're out and about with your children Monday mornings, drop in for a cozy storytime and picture to color. Don't forget to bring your library card.
Speaking of good books, we'd never let a week go past without reading and sharing them with you. Click here. At the Kraft Shack on October 28, Thursday night from 6:30-9 make a Eucalyptus Wreath. $39 includes all. You will be making a wreath from Eucalyptus, decorated with flowers, grapes and ribbons. Sounds pretty for the front door or to hang in the kitchen. Saturday, October 30 is Oil Painting with Larry Lasch. Paint a beautiful painting with the Bob Ross method. (Sounds like fun.) $35 includes all. This weekend, October 23 and 24, visit Lukacs Pottery Studios Open House and Sale on Rt. l4, Sodus Pt. Tour a working pottery shop l0 a.m. to 6 p.m. We went through the Pottery Shop with a group of moms and tots called Cups and Saucers years ago and really enjoyed the tour. Also coming up is a Meet the Candidates night at the Williamson Middle School. The Chamber of Commerce invites all to come Friday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. Both supervisor candidates, Wilma Young and Tom Wetherell will be on hand to answer questions. Please remember to let me know what events are happening in your lives, at school and at work. Have a great week. Stay warm while on those hayrides and picking out pumpkins. Copyright © 1999 |
